Android Pie...
Supposedly the phone will go into Do Not Disturb by itself if you place the phone face down on a flat surface. Mine does not seem to do this.
Did Essential miss this one?
This didn't make it to the release of Android P no even the Pixel 2 have this option, i read on androidpolice that this is coming by the end of the year
Thanks!

1 - Stylus camera. For those who does not like using the Dpad to take a shot and or for the upcoming touch HD using the stylus as camera button might work out.
2 - Stylus, light sensor, G-sensor together as a lock. I've seen keylocks with light sensor or the stylus. However, i'm sure many of us will agree the password lock on wm6 makes the device look like its from the 90s. Would it be possible to have all three combination of users own choice (some what like the G1's lock but with sensors instead of numbers or touch screen). Maybe its too fancy.
3 - Mute calls! Either in call or before picking up, would it be possible to make a trigger (flip phone 180 to left) to mute phone ring or hold call and flip the other way to undo. Or the other way around for left handed people. this way, you can flip to put the phone face down on table to mute or flip away from ear when driving to hold call.
4 - Finally, X1 is out!!!! Looks soo sexy. But seems soooo damn slow. But i can really care less about it. However, SE does have pretty damn good build in Apps and they have added them into the WM6 X1! Is there any chance if someone would want to use SE example camera's funtion/walkman function on a HTC device instead? In other words, is there any way to extract their build in apps to put them into other devices.
Sorry if bringing up so much. For all the pros here, there might be some stuff that sounds stupid but i wouldn't know cuz i have no clue on how to create my own ideas for testing. Would love to learn how to do so. Tips on how to start doing these shorts of things for a noob would be helpful!
O yea, one more thing, GAMES! needs to be improved for WM devices! as much as such smart phones were meant for business use, having more games wouldn't hurt. plus, g-sensor would help.
There are certainly things l like about this phone. The wireless charging, battery life etc. Camera.
But the software in general stinks compared to HTC.
The M8 was too heavy, too tall and Camera really wasn't that good.
Sorry to vent. I know some are fixable. But I'm tired of fixing my phone. By the time I get it fixed a new update will be out.
The GPS seems mess with Google Maps lately. This may be Google Maps Fault. Not Sure.
The Bluetooth not the most stable with my 2014 Jeep. It often won't announce Google Nav through Radio.
So I shut the audio profile off and now it gets force closes on bluetooth.
Phone was messed up so I put it in airplane mode and back off. It refused to reconnect to radio.
Had to reboot.
Phone calls going direct to voice mail.
While fumbling with the phone on a call I shut Bluetooth off. I try to turn it back on and every time I put my finger near the top to swipe down the screen goes black due to proximity sensor. So I have to hang up so I can turn Bluetooth back on.
It's just one thing after another like this, that's just clumsy.
If I make a call while navigating I'd just hit back to dismiss phone app. On this I have to hit home and re-launch Nav.
If it wasn't for rooting and getting hotspot I think I'd just get an iPhone.
Is the grass really greener any where else?
I miss my HTC M7 and prefer it over the M8 or S5. No I don't want to go backwards. Need to move forward with something.
So...you found there are differences between Touchwiz and Sense
SInce there are millions happy with the M8 and millions happy with the S5 I am not sure what the purpose of making this thread is.
If you want to discuss different phones there is a sticky for that.
Thanks...hope you find what you are looking for

Hey Guys,
So it seems that the Compact Z5 is in stock on GiffGaff's website and from past experience they only list something in stock when they actually have it and is ready to ship!
Also I have been told that O2 also have it in stock.
https://www.giffgaff.com/sony/sony-xperia-z5-compact/phone-details
Here's to hoping the regular Z5 follows suit.
perfect
I got mine delivered today.
Coming from an LG G3, I have to say the phone feels weirdly long and narrow but the feel of it is soooo much nicer than the plastic G3.
Handtec told me today that they should receive it next week. Let's hope it is earlier rather than later.
How is the performance compared to the g3? Does the Z5 stutter while scrolling at all?

As you'd imagine with a smaller screen and a better cpu, there's been no stuttering at all.
I do have some issues though
1. The physical camera button and volume buttons being at the bottom of the phone are a nuisance when trying to pull the phone out of a pocket - invariably you either end up activating the camera or messing with your volume
2. Might be related to the above but somehow my camera flash ended up stuck ON and it would only stop being on once I'd rebooted. Goodness knows how long it had been on.
So now I'm training myself to pull the phone out of my pocket by pinching it between the front and back but that has already led to one case of pocket dialling
That'll not be an issue when my Style Cover case arrives, tbf.
One thing I LOVE though is the fact the screen seems incredibly smear resistant! Hate smears :silly:

Sounds great! Can't wait to get mine.
1. Yeah that sounds really annoying, it does look like they put the volume keys way too low. They should have put them at the top.
2. Wow that's strange. Hopefully it doesn't happen again.
Doesn't the phone being locked prevent that pocket dial from happening? Or did you unlock it while grabbing it too lol?
Yeah smears are the worst so that's good to hear!

I have a lockscreen set (PIN) but there are shortcuts on the lockscreen - one for dialler, one for unlock and one for camera. If you swipe the dialler it opens your contact list - the person I pocket dialled was the very first person on my contact list.
I can only assume pinching the screen between finger and thumb somehow swiped the dialler then tapped the contact entry for this person. It hasn't happened since and having a case should prevent it.
Still waiting for mine to become available on Amazon. Still at the status of "Not yet dispatched. Delivery estimate: We need a little more time to provide you with a good estimate. We'll notify you via e-mail as soon as we have an estimated delivery date."

Mines should be home waiting for me now...
Yesterday I installed new Dev Preview version of Nougat 7.1 on my Nexus 6P, through OTA. After this upgrade, I had updates for several apps, including the default Phone app, that had some major UI changes.
However, one weird and uncomfortable thing I noticed... That when I receive a call, I have the Phone screen popping up showing 2 round red and green buttons for rejecting/answering. It's enough to touch one of them for the action to carry on. There is no protection like sliding left/right to reject/answer a call, although I've been reading that you normally would slide up to answer and slide down to reject (as opposed to the former left/right). This situation occurs even when the phone is off and, thus, the lockscreen is enabled, which makes accidental answering very likely if the phone is, for instance, in the pocket.
Anyone else having this issue? Some recommended fix?
Thanks!
There is a thread for 7.1!
Hi everybody, i upgraded to the OP5 midnight black from my OP3 with LineageOS and as last year, I'm trying to stay on OxygenOS for as long as possible
Basically I like OOS, but there are some things that just don't make sense to me (those things are not new, but I noticed them when switching back to OOS):
- Dash charge sound: when i plug in the dash charger, i see this lightning animation followed by a sound/jingle. I can't check right now, but I think this only happens when the screen is not unlocked, but also when the phone is on silent/DND mode. At least give us an option to deactivate it.
- Ringer volume to zero: I'm perfectly happy with the stock android volume management. All, DND, and silent - most of the time my phone is in my pocket or in my hands, thus i do not want a ringtone. Sometimes the phone is on my desk and i'm some meters away - that's when i need a ringtone. On LineageOS/Stock Android, i could just raise the ringer volume from zero to the volume i want. On OOS, things are different and I do not like it. Why change it in the first place?
- also i'd like to control the media volume with the volume rocker keys by default (i change ringer volume maybe once a week). this used to be an option in one of the LineageOS / Cyanogenmod versions I think.
- camera disables flash when battery is under 15%. Most of us are grown up people who should be able to decide for themselves if they want to save battery or take a good photo.
- minimum brightness is to high for me and auto brightness is buggy.
- button backlight is too short / only lit after a button is touched.
What do you guys think about these things? Are you annoyed as well or do you think these "features" are legit? If you know of mods/hacks/tricks to fix one of the problems, feel free to share. thanks in advance :good:
Most of these things have already been criticized on the OP3/T and brought to OnePlus' attention months ago.
They didn't listen unfortunately.
Especially the fact that we can't mute our phones with the volume down button is mind-boggling!
Been this way since OOS 3.5 Marshmallow Beta1 on the OP3 and users started complaining. We are at Beta 18 + numerous stable builds later.
I think it speaks for itself.
I'm missing DND mode + vibration because of this.
Also when the device is on the upmost slider position (silent),
it will also silence android wear devices and render them useless for notifications!

I use Lux (on playstore) which completely overrides the built in auto brightness with an easier to control alternative. To use plugins requires root but I am not using plugs on my OP5.

That app got buggy on marshmallow - is it any better in N? Doesn't look like it's been updated in over a year. (Just curious.)

I didn't have any issues with it on AICP Nougat 7.1.2 on a TabS SM-T800. Now on the OP5 (v4.5.4) it works well although occasionally it does not seem to start on a reboot but with so many OTAs so quickly I can't nail when that started. Its also not a consistent issue. Once started it sticks and works as advertised. Lux has been part of every Android device I've owned for a long while now. I really like using the profiles for example one for inside, outside and watching videos (Youtube, Netflx, Plex ...).
