No. Havoc OS. The best rom, based on Android 8.1

The OP was looking for the most stable ROM which is why I recommended stock. I stick to stock ROMs these days because they work for my needs.
A custom ROM that is best for one person is not always the best for another person.
I'm curious as to which Note 3 you have. I'm in Canada and we have the sm-n900w8. Thanks.

On Note 3 N9005 as asked ???

Lineage 15.1, it's amazing. I used to be on Stock 5.0, then i moved to 6.0.1 Marshmallow Touchwiz Port then i moved to Lineage 15.1 oreo 8.1. The difference is huge. Battery life increased massively, better performance and also everything looks super nice

I also have Sm-n900w8. You can try it by yourself and you'll see that Havoc os is great in battery life, stability and features. It comes with a lot of features.

I haven't used my note 3 for a while and it's my back up phone. I'm using an iPhone 6s at the moment.

ROM Advice

Hi All,
I have had my Galaxy S 4 (I9505) for a while now but it is still running android 4.3.
I was hoping to update it to 5.0.1 but when I plugged it into my PC, Kies said 'This device is unsupported'
I want to flash a new rom onto it (I have done this in the past with a samsung tablet)
I was just wanting some feedback as to what is regarded as a good rom for it these days. Should I go a standard stock rom from sammobile or are there custom roms out there that perform better?
Thanks for any help and advice.
Daniel
Custom roms give you more performance. Stock roms tend to lag here and there, from what I saw in rom reviews.
If you want a minimalist rom, go for CM12 or Slim roms. They have very few features.
If you want lots of features, go for AICP or Resurrection Remix. These two combine the most popular features from other roms (I personally use Resurrection Remix).
And there are the GPE roms. I don't know how GPE 5.1 is, but on 5.0 the rom was rock solid and everything worked.
I can't say anythinv about stock touchwiz because, since I changed I never went back

Try a custom S6 Touchwiz ROM for your phone model - you'll be pleasantly surprised by the new look, feel and performance. I know I am!
I tried CM but not such a big fan... Experiment a bit until you find what you were ALWAYS looking for!
You try to consider CM 12.1 or GPE Roms. The major disadvantage is the camera quality and some multitasking features on TW, but it's hella fast and smooth.
Sent from my GT-I9505G
Roms
I would recommend Cyanogenmod but sometimes it comes with some problems. Check out first which is the stable version for s4.
Also, I would recommend the WickedRom which is great and great performance. And the WanamLite Rom is amazing if you would like to tune your mobile , for example gpu or cpu in higher frequencies or even set custom gestures and etc.( but remember to be careful with those why you might break your phone

it's like you have already a custom rom, or a rooted & modified stock rom !.

go for Resurrection Remix like said: GDReaper, or may be BlissPOP ( with terrible battery drain for me).
I tried just the straight CM 12 rom and it was okay, but once I put on the one of the Optimized CM 12.1 roms I got better battery life and faster performance, but also lost a few features, got a few bugs, but so far so good. It really depends what you want.
If you are willing to have a few crashes, bugs you can put on the newest rom builds, but if you want stable, then going for the older well established ones may be a better option.

I have to correct you here buddy It's almost always better to pick the latest CM build. Because it's a work in progress, every new build has a lot fixes.
I'm curious though to what bugs you are referring to. I used it pretty long and I found it almost to be bugfree. Besides the obvious difficulty's with bluetooth.

Hey Lenny, the official CM builds I have never had an issue with (except nightlies of course) however when we get into the custom ROM world such as Slimroms, modified CM builds etc I do tend to hit a few bugs, such as crashes of apps, however often those builds then become stable.
Hope that makes more sense?
The only good advice is to just use stock roms. It's stable, no bugs, no issues. The only thing that pisses you off is the laggggggg!

Fast / Stable ROM until main phone recovered from repair?

So, I had to RMA my OnePlus 3, so I have to stick with my old-knight GS4 for a week or two. Could anyone recommend me a ROM, which would be smooth and especially stable? Currently running Lollirom 9.0. Also, are GPE based roms still considered fast and stable?
Nougat ROMs seem faster than anything else. General experience-wise.

There are too many factors that affect battery life. So it's subjective.
Last Beanstalk (Android 6) or latest Resurrection Remix (Android 7.1) / Octo N are the 3 ROMS i can recommend. Had the Beanstalk for months as daily and it was fast, stable and had very good battery life. RR & OCTO N in case you want something more recent

Best rom ?

Hi there guys , there so much diferents ROMs here
And wanted to know what are the best 5, in terms of fluidity, battery and functionality?
Well, there's no best, only favorites. A ROM that runs great for me on my device may be a problem for others (VertexOS is a good example).
For the record my favorite on the Axon 7 is Dark ROM.
ZTE Axon 7 A2017U, Dirty Unicorns UNOFFICIAL v11.7.2 ROM, Tapatalk 4.9.5
With the exception of MIUI 9 I have tested just about every ROM that's currently in development for the Axon 7. I always end up coming back to DARK ROM because it combines the simplicity and smoothness of LineageOS with a few extra features, such as OMS support and bypassing the PIN unlock on reboot.
ROMs differences.
Instead of creating yet another thread, I'll just hijack this one if that's alright with you guys .
Can somebody give me a rundown of the pros and cons of AOSP and LOS based ROMs in comparison to stock?
I know that camera apps won't work properly on custom ROMs and that there used to be some issue with the DAC, but that seems to have been patched since then (on LOS at least), is that right?
Thanks in advance.

have tried many rom's, last one was lineage14.1 (full of bugs) and now i'm very satisfied with '' Stock 7.1.1 B02 based for A2017G. The "We can do it better than zte" ed. ''

Thanks for the recommendation!
LineageOS was utter crap back in February, but it's gotten a long way since. I believe Lineage + BeastMode Kernel is awesome for performance (not so much for battery though)

best rom and kernel combo

Just bought my mi a2. Have to say its buttery smooth but as history says, i never stick to the stock software for more than a week. As there is no objecticely best kernel and/or rom out there, what i want to know is the most popular configuration being used for this phone. What kernel and rom are yall using and how well does it hold up in terms of battery life and performance?
Also how many of you have tried the new pie resurrection remix? Is it worth trying right now?
Havoc stock

Hex kernel + pixel experience
And resurrection remix has a pure stock look that kind of bothers me. I've also heard of some other problems on the ROM thread.
Havoc + Hex

stable bugless rom

which pie rom is stable and bugless
answer me plzzz
You can try these
First of all I don't think there's no such ROM as BUG-LESS. Even our X00TD's official stock ROM has many bugs. But yes there are some ROMs, stable enough to make you feel awesome. They have bugs but it shouldn't affect your experience. You can try the followings, I've tried them personally.
Pixel Experience Official : A full stock Pie experience. Not much customization.
DOT OS Official : Fully customized and one of the best looking custom ROM out there.
Havoc OS Official : I'm currently using this one. It'll provide you options to fully customize your device. Battery life of the Kernel is good as well.
Let me know if you've some other ROMs (with lesser bugs) as well, I'll give'em a try too....!!
Hope it helps....!

First off, wrong place to post. Second, there is no best kernel or ROM. Everything has issues, just that some don't effect everybody.
Kernels u can try: TheRagingBeast, Rawwork, Darkonah, Azure, PBH, Singh, etc. Try all and settle on one. Rawwork is my personal favorite.

I agree. In fact it's better than havoc because it's well polished and 99.99% bug free(could be totally bugless). Going to try dotos now.
