Hey guys,
I was excited to try the new "pill" button and horizontal app switcher, however, after flashing Pie I could use it for only 24 hours.
Therefore I decided I wanted Pixel Launcher + Vertical App Switcher, which revealed not to be achievable by standard means, since horizontal app switcher seems to be built-in pixel launcher.
It's only requirements are Nova Launcher (with some tuning) and root.
Stock Pixel Launcher (first picture) / Nova Launcher (second picture) (notice minor differences)

STEP 1: Open Nova settings and do the following:
Desktop
Desktop Grid -> 5x5
Icon Layout -> Icon Size -> 115%
Width & Height Padding -> large
Persistent Search Bar Off
Search Bar Style -> Bar Style -> The first with rounded corners
Search Bar Style -> Bar Color -> White with 20% transparency
Search Bar Style -> Logo Style -> The colored G
Page Indicator -> Line
App & Widget Drawers
Drawer app grid -> 5x5
Icon Layout -> Icon Size -> 115%
Frequently used apps -> Yes
App Drawer style -> Vertical
Card Background -> Off
Swipe to Open -> On
Swipe Indicator -> Off
Dock (Enabled)
Icon Layout -> Icon Size -> 115%
Icon Layout -> Label -> Off
Searchbar in Dock -> Below Icons
Width & Height Padding -> Large
Look & Feel
Normalize Icon Size -> Off
STEP 2: Add google widget called "At a glance 5 x 1" at the top.
STEP 3: Install this Nova add-on, as suggested by @felosisman, thank him. This will give you a swipe right Google Now.
STEP 4: Freeze Pixel Launcher (for example, use Titanium Backup)
Done! Now you've got Pixel Launcher Look'n'Feel and you have Vertical App Scroll again!
Now we can wait more patiently until a developer finds a way of enabling vertical app scroll on pixel launcher :laugh:
One main difference:
Pixel Launcher is better for app search. Search results are displayed in the middle of the screen for easier access.
Nice write-up! As for the Google Now swip right, you can use https://help.teslacoilapps.com/nowcompanion
I've been using and it's great.

Or is there any app that does this? It is just so handy, being able to toggle from anywhere and access the settings on long press.
Notification Toggle
Notification Toggle
Excellent App. Using it myself.
Description
Notification Toggle creates notifications in the Android status bar to let you quickly switch WiFi, Bluetooth, Silent mode, Screen rotation and Flight mode on and off or to adjust the screen brigthness (and many more...)
You can also add shortcut to your own apps right into the notification bar!
In the settings, you can choose which notifications should be active. On some devices, you can also enable the 'all in one' notification, which lets you toggle all features in just one notification (unfortunately this doesn't work on some devices - you will get a popup to select the toggle feature if your device doesnt support multiple notification clicks)
------------------
More information & beta releases can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1037817
If you don't like the default icons, press your menue button in the app, select 'Skin' and use your own icons. Some icons are slightly modified ones from the MetroStation Icon-Pack by yankoa (http://yankoa.deviantart.com/)
Some notes:
- not every toggle will work on every device
- some settings aren't changeable by user apps, so it will bring you directly to the android settings
- "all in one" toggle might display a dialog to choose the setting to toggle. if this happens then your device doesn't support notification with more than one click-events
- if you see the settings activity when clicking the "all in one" or the brightness toggle: exit the settings activity with your back-button, not with the home-button

If you mean transparency, you can enable it in UOT kitchen, for Cyanogen Mod 7 only though.

God, I miss those toggles...!
Hi there,
so I've been loving my lg g2 since the very beginning and I came to the point that I wanted to use the full big screen and turn my softkeys into GESTURES.
what I did: I rooted my lg g2, installed xposed framework with the G2 module to remove the softkeys. You can also do it with GMD hide softkeys app but the g2 module also gives cool settings for the softkeys (change icons,...).
Then I installed All-in-one gestures. With that app you can set gestures for the menu-, back- and homebutton. (and shortcuts or apps to open) You can also do this with the GMD gestures app but it's a more advanced app than the All-in-one gestures app. So for example my backbutton is now a swipe from the bottom of my screen. And I must I like using back like that. it's an easy gesture for you thumb.
I also installed nova launcher to automatically hide the notification bar.
another tip... with the xposed framework you can download the APP SETTINGS module. with this you can set the dpi PER APP!! I like a dpi of 360. below that it's starting to be very tiny letters I think. With APP SETTINGS you can also force to hide the notification bar PER APP. Gives a real big screen as a result!!!
Hope you like my tip!
grts,
Lionel!!
Try Ultimate Dynamic Navbar. More settings and customisations. Blows away all others imo.
I had the same idea.
But it doesn't work out.
1) Sometimes GMD gestures stop working (after turning on display or after rebooting when there sometimes comes a "device not detected" error) and if you don`t have the possibility to swipe up a nav bar then you are in trouble. Bad idea to rely completely on GMD.
2) On my N7 (2013) i can set (via GMD autohide softkeys) that in every app there is the old 3-dot menu button to compensate for the lack of the nav bar menu button. This is somehow not possible on the G2.
For stress-free operation, it's better to make nav bar just as small as possible (say, 50% height) and leave it on.
On phones I prefer much more Pie, I just think it's much faster than gestures.

I rather use GMD hide soft keys. All the buttons are a simple swype away ...

also I to use the 360 dpi, but the trick is to use -- 361 -- because then your apps don't switch into tablet ui. 361 is the sweet spot.

- 12 skins for different display resolutions included. For high resolution smartphones, it's best to use DoubleRings or DoubleSquare (eg FullHD), for lower resolution devices take at least DoubleRingsThin (or DoubleSquareThin)
- Showing time, date, weather, wind, location and battery Information, also today mobile data and mobile data connection mode
- I recommend to set scaling in Zooper Widget Pro to a value between 110 to 120

Choose "Layout" in Zooper Widget Pro from the menu, and set for the elements - AppStart oben/unten/Mitte/links/rechts - under setting "Module OnTap" the appropriate app / activity. The grid corresponds to the full width of the widget with 3 rows and 3 columns per line. Standard settings are to call the battery info in the top right area and the configuration menu of Zooper Widget Pro in the upper left area
Zooper widget PRO is required * Full version of this template at Google Play

Version 1.3
- NEW: ChromeDoubles6 (and ChromeDoublesThin6) also now support 3 more infos (see pictures above). In the right circle, a 3-day forecast and information on solar and lunar / moonset are displayed . The left circle can be changed to display the next alarm and the next appointment.

You can get it to look like that with Nova Launcher Beta. They have the setting to look like Pixel.

I have Nova Launcher Beta. The Pixel setting is for the Google bar I believe. I want my dock like the pic above (with the clock). Can I do that with NL?

Yes, I'm using Nice Simple Clock. Any clock widget should work there, I just that one, since it allows me to resize it in there settings to match my theme.

Good deal!
Okay I tested it for several hours it seems to stick with what I've done. I'll start by saying this is NOT a permanent fix someone smarter than me will have to figure out a way to modify SystemUI to keep it happy. There is a random app here and there that wants to revert the bar to white but instead of it being every non-OOS app it's maybe 5 of my 100 or so apps I have installed.
Common culprits that are controlled for me...
Accuweather
Titanium Backup
Google's Apps
Facebook and it's Messenger app
Test it and let me know. Here's how I have it set up.
1.) Install Nav Bars. You can get it Here
2.) Top right "Static Color" set it to black under the setting/gear icon. That would be sliding the bottom slider all the way to the right
3.) Go into General Settings (3 dot on top right).
4.) Under "Disable apps from detecting" click add, include system apps, and select SystemUI
5.) General Settings turn on accessibility services
6.) Color of Navigation Bar when keyboard open under general setttings. I made this black and kept the box unchecked for coloring of the keyboard. Change this at your own risk I use a black keyboard and keep it black.
7.) Enjoy! Like I said above, where before every non-OOS app turned the bar white I now have about 95% of the apps controlled with this setting. It's more than usable until someone who's developer-savvy can modify the SystemUI file.
IMPORTANT NOTE: I do have this running with Substratum Theme Engine using the Swift Black Theme on SystemUI. I do not know if that is required or not so something else to throw out there. Lastly, the only thing you'll see on the apps it liked to "misbehave" on the nav bar's 3 buttons change a real fast shade of different white. It otherwise keeps the status bar BLACK. Here's screen shots of the trouble apps I had before. I set this all last night and woke up this morning it all still is sticking.
EDIT: XDA having issues with file hosting for some reason edit to add photos as proof...

I have no problems with nova. I have selected active color in nav bar apps excep for:
OPAod
So when i face unlock the phone i don't see the ugly green nav bar. Nova is transparent still
Thanks.. I got it now black in Nova. It's a bit misleading because in Nova settings it says "transparent notification bar", not navigation. Although this setting turns the navigation bar transparent too.
Best regards
