Coming from Angler to Tissot - Xiaomi Mi A1 Questions & Answers

Hi all guys, Im Chris from PerĂº and Im new with Tissot. I just got tired of battery draining on my Nexus 6P and waiting for a new battery, so Im using a A1 for a entire day and feels really smooth and battery friendly.
I just want to know if I need to be careful before unlocking, rooting or flashing any rom. Do Im gonna need a MicroSD for doing all this? Maybe You can tell me any tip before I start messing around with this great phone.
Sorry for my bad english!

Just backup your phone before unlocking as it will wipe the phone and internal sd card.
I suggest you read a little bit about the a/b partition scheme as the custom rom flashing procedure is different.

Mohancm's and cosmicdan's recoveries work well. You can use one of them.

Varben, is the official twrp from twrp.me broken or something?
And someone said in this thread that cosmicdan's version doesn't work for Lineage.

Today Cosmicdan made an update that can flash lineageos, twrp 3.2.3 version 2.5
The version from twrp.me don't work, only those that are on xda forum

If you want to install official lineage, you have a twrp that the maintainer of lineage for tissot created:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a1/development/rom-lineageos-15-1-t3757938
As the user above said, only the twrp versions uploaded here on xda are working.
Mohancm is the official maintainer of twrp for tissot though!

Is it safe to upgrade to TWRP 3.0.2?

Hi there.
Is anyone here using TWRP 3.x? I'm still on 2.x, since I read of lots of problems with newer versions of the recovery on this device, but I'd like to upgrade now. Can anyone give me some feedback?
Thanks in advance
It works but as with multiple posts not with Aroma.
Sent from my SM-N930F using XDA-Developers mobile app
I see no reason to update if u have no issue on 2.x. sometimes upgrade is just a no go.

Derp, must've missed that. I'll obviously stick with 2.x, then.

Try it.. It totally a new design You can revert back, if you don't like it.. By flashing the image through the new twrp itself.

If you're trying to downgrade, it means that you've flashed TWRP.
If you've flashed TWRP, it means that you already know how to flash a custom recovery.
If you already know how to flash a custom recovery, then this is EXACTLY the same thing. Just pick an older version of TWRP and flash it the exact same way you would flash any version of TWRP.
And if you don't even know how to do that, google is your friend.

First time building a ROM

I really want to put a custom ROM on my phone (Asus ZenFone Laser 2 - ZE500KL), obviously without bricking it. Because I can't find RessurectionRemix or LineageOS already built, I'm going to try building by myself.
I can't find any good tutorials, but I tried this one, but I got an error right when installing the libraries... Because I know no one is going to build it for me, can someone suggests a step by step tutorial? (I have amateur Linux skills, I'm not any pro, but not any noob)
You can find LineageOS/AOKP/RR for ZE500KL here. here
Make sure you get the Z00ED version.

Well, I found that post but didn't notice there was an "Z00ED" in the title... By the way, some steps would be good to install it, because if I brick this, I'm dead... I know the steps, but making sure of them would be great...

You unlock the bootloader then you flash TWRP.. After that you wipe DATA/CACHE/DALVICK CACHE and you flash your ROM and GAPPS (ARM64).

So, if something go wrong in the process, I would just need to do the exact same process but with the stock ROM right?
Make sure your bootloader is unlocked before flashing twrp, go to fastboot and type this
fastboot oem device-info
if you see this -->> (bootloader)Device unlocked: true
then you are unlocked, then proceed to flash your device twrp latest version.

Yes, It's unlocked. Tomorrow I'll try flashing TWRP and then Lineage OS...

You need to flash the stock recovery and then flash the stock ROM. There are plenty of tutorials on XDA to help you with that so don't worry.. You can find more in the General section of this forum

The second on (androidfilehost)
Before installing make sure you are on Android 6.0 and you unlocked your bootloader using the official unlock: http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/ZenFone/ZE500KL/0518-1134_SIGNED_UnlockTool_ZE500KL_AndroidM.apk
You should find your twrp here in xda or twrp.me

Just 2 more things I wanna make sure:
1. Do I need to root to flash LineageOS?
2. On that LineageOS post, what is the AOKP? xD I already checked the website but I didn't get what it is, and if it comes with the ROM...
You dont need to root because the rom is already pre rooted. But you can change root to SuperSU or PHH Superuser if you want.
AOKP are custom ROM developers/modders.

1: you don't need to root
2: AOKP is a custom ROM based on CyanogenMod/LineageOs but with extra features (Like Resurrection Remix has)

[info] recent roms in the x501 model dont work

hi guys. im writing this, after a day saying in the recent roms threads, rr nougat, lineage nougat and aicp that none of this roms boot in the x501 model. no info about this has been wrote in the op to inform users about this. so if you have x501, dont flash this or, if you dont have a backup, you will have a soft bricked device.
cheers

What error are you getting? are you on latest TWRP (3.1.0) and MM bootloader?
Ive tried 3.1 and 3.03. They just get stuck in bootanimation. Im currently in lollipop eui. Do we need to flash a MM eui ROM first in order to get the bootloader? Por can o flash the bootloader separatedly?

Not mine, but this should work.
If you have the original zip, from le.com, you can modify the updater-script in it to make it for x3, instead of x3_hk

Which recovery did you use?
I think you did something wrong in the process to get your phone bricked(I assume its a soft brick).
Now you need to reflash a working rom

Updating bootloader and modem to the Oreo and then go back to the Nougat

Hello there!
I come here with really important question.
I use the Android Nougat as a daily driver but I'd like to update system to the Oreo. Will I be able to go back to the Nougat if I flashed the Oreo's bootloader and modem?
Thanks in advance for answers!
If u updated bootloader there is no way back
