Xtrons and Volvo

Hi everyone, I’m new to this forum. I know a bit about Volvo (the older ones!), and Volvo head units, but not about Chinese Android head units.
I’m considering replacing the aging head unit of my (also aging!) 2002 Volvo V70. The head unit is a simple HU 603, so no Dolby, center speaker or extra amplifier. I’m looking at Xtrons TA702P (quad core) or TB706PL (octa core). I prefer a 7 inch touch screen, no knobs, no DVD. But navi should be good, as would radio. Music I can play through usb. And my Elephone S7 (Android 7.1) phone should mirror on the unit if possible.
Other functions like back up camera or steering wheel control are not important to me.
I know how to take the HU 603 out. I know I need an adapter harness to connect with the new unit. And a fascia adapter. All that is available.
My questions:
Xtrons has many car/model specific head units (not for Volvo). They have Canbus decoders supplied with the unit. Not so for the TA702P or the TB706PL. Will that give problems? (The answer from the ebay seller is somewhat useless: ‘Both the TB706PL and the TL702P does not come with the canbus so that you just ignore it.’) Anyone has experience with this?
How are user experiences with these modern Xtrons units? I know, ‘you get what you pay for’, I know that. But still, worth the money?
Units from Kenwood or Pioneer are other options, but again, is it worth it?
Thanks!
Hi there
I own and drive a V70 from 2006. I have replaced the original HU with a SONY 2 DIN unit (XAV-V630BT). This unit has great sound. I also swapped the speakers to JBL. It is totally worth it.
I have a CANbus to resistor unit. This makes it possible to use the steering wheel buttons.
Right now i am testing a Android HU. Unfortunately i have bought the wrong one. The unit is full of bad design choices. The sound integration in the unit is bad. I think that radio, BLUETOOTH and AUX sound runs directly to the sound processor. This means that when the Android unit plays a sound, the sound from the other units are turned off. In my opinion the other source should just fade a little.

Hi there
As said, I don't need steering wheel controls, my steering wheel doesn't even have the buttons. Must have been a cheapskate first owner!
Does this mean the Canbus only affects steering wheel control? So ignoring Canbus (no resistor as in your case), will give no problems?
And yes, by now I've found out Android units may not have the best sound quality. Or radio reception.

Is there a Pioneer / Alpine style ROM for the Oreo PX5 head units?

Hi all
I am on the look out for ROM that will work on the PX5 head unit. Just want something really basic like you get on the Pioneer units. I installed Malaysk but I don't really like the tablet style stock android feel. I don't even want the FM radio just internet connectivity and sound. It's for a BMW E46 and one of these 9" head units
Is there such software out there?
Thanks
If you want an alpine or pioneer interface, why don't you get yourself an alpine or pioneer radio? They're surely a heck of a lot better quality.
Install Car Launcher AGAMA, don't have this "tablet" aspect

"REAKOSOUND" 9" head unit no sound from any app

Hi, I got a "REAKOSOUND" 9" head unit for my 2005 Citroen C4 Coupe, it has "android 10" or an imitation of it. I have no sound coming from the device (tried Youtube, radio, music app, and others. I manly want the main radio cable connection for sound, not RCA although I have tested the RCA connections which have no sound either.
What I tried:
- Reconnected wires multiple times
- Hard reset more than 3 times
- Seller provided "update" that did not change anything
- Tried an RCA speaker into RCA "Aux R Out" - no sound at all (Speaker from a 5.1 PC speaker set)
- Oscilloscope measured from the CANBUS/radio harnes from one speaker line coming out the head unit: 60Hz sine wave less than a millivolt, think that means no sound coming out the Head unit output.
- Tried all avaliable CAN Type options for citroen, steering wheel buttons work with all of them, no sound with any of them.
- Volume has been set to max "40 units".
- Original radio still works.
- Tried to look for some apps on google play that may control sound output, found only one, did not do anything.
- Tried all the apps: Radio, Music app, BT music, Aux mode, Spotify, Youtube, phone call (mic works) - no sound output from any app.
- Canbus works, the steering wheel buttons work and travel distance data is being transmitted to the head unit.
- Tried asking for OS update files from other Ali sellers, all refused to share (not compatible and such).
What I noticed:
- All the Citroen Canbus models in the head unit settings have 2008-2015 models, the ad said compatible with 2004-2008 car models - maybe the Canbus is incorrect for my car (I have Raise PSA-RZ-15)?
- There is no AMP wire coming from the cars side.
- There are no audio settings in the Head unit, Only an equalizer and a balance setting front to back and left to right, that's it. Other head units seem to have more options in the OS.
My Questions:
1. Should audio work without CANBUS?
2. If there is an amp in my car and it communicates with CANBUS, can I turn it on without canbus? (I have not seen an AMP wire in my car - nothing blue with a white stripe or similar)
3. Does anyone have any suggestions what to try to get any sound?
4. Are there any other car androids I could install and test?
a. (EDIT: I found this post on XDA, and this post, and this post, as far as I understand there is an MCU and a MTCD, one of them carries android the other is like bios that bridges the car system to the android, in my case, the sound issue could be from either of them)
5. If it's not android, what hardware should I check? I am decent with soldering and similar electronics, just Head Units are new to me.

Hi new member, posting in MTCD general forum.
Is it an MTCD/E device?
Your post is difficult to follow without formatting and spacing.

Thank you for the response. I improved the format, hope it helps. I unfortunately don't know what MTCD/E means, I did not find anything on google. Therefore I am not sure if I have an MTCD/E device. I am familiar with electronics but head units are new to me. My first experience with them has been severely disappointing. Hope I can get this unit working and learn something along the way.
What does MTCD/E mean and how do I know what device I have?
If I am in the wrong place, is there a better sub forum on XDA I can post my question to?
Hi, I have requested a Mod moves to [Android Head-units] forum.
Your post is likely to have visibility there. You'll also find your device listed/discussed there - mcu version.

PX3 Android head unit Mercedes

Hello folks,
I bought cheap PX3 Android unit MTCE_LM, but need for upgrading TDA7388 amplifier with the TDA7850 amplifier.
Android is working, updated with Malaysk and MTCE_LM_V3.67d, works with the car via CAN BUS.
As it comes without harness, I need connector for rear view camera, or at least which port should I use for video signal. So far I could not find it...
There's a screens below and thanks in advance!

Pumpkin PX6: Adding Lowpass / Highpass Filter?

HI guys,
I bought a Pumpkin AA0703b PX6 Android 11 unit.
The radio sits on my table with a 12v charger for testing befor i install it in my car.
I really miss a Highpass and Lowpass Filter in the Settings.
Isn't it available in Android or isnt it avaible in my Pumpkin Rom?
I tried various Equalizer APPs but thats not what i thought. I want to sort out the low frequenzes for the front an rear speaker.
Maybe a custom ROM would help me by solving this problem.
What kind of ROM would be compatible with my radio?
Thanks for help.
Greetings from Munich, Germany
Tommy
Nobody can help?
Can you send the pictures of the Equalizer menu?
Here are some Screenshots of my equalizer and the android Infos.
I have only these two options in "sound" equalizer and position.
That´s unfortunately all you get with MTC* units.
To get more you need a unit with DSP.
can you give me an example of a unit without MTC??
What unit brand should i buy to get a DSP and a low-/highpass filter?
