Stock or Custom Rom? - Moto G5 Plus Questions & Answers

Hello friends, I know this is a very common question but, which one do you prefer and why? hope I don't bother anyone.
Also, Im thinking about installing a Custom Rom, but I can't decided which rom should I install, please give me some options!
Thank you!

Hi, right now I prefer use the rom stock because the battery life is really better than the customs roms.
I tried pixel experience and for me was the best rom, the gcam it's amazing, the app has some little bugs but I liked that rom. However, the battery is not good like the stock.
Right now I am using the stock rom because I want the official update to 8.1 oreo from moto.

Been using Nitrogen Os as my daily driver for months. My battery life is on par with stock. My performance is better with NOS. My Camera is tenfold better in NOS. Basically everything works better on latest NOS. Highly recommend that Rom...probably the most under rated Rom for G5 Plus.

Best STABLE ROM released for Redmi 2?

Hello, I got my cousin's Redmi 2, so I was hoping to put Custom ROMs. I've been searching around, but didn't seem to find the best stable ROM. I need a daily driver, and it doesn't need to be Marshmallow, but an upgrade from KitKat would be nice. I love the Lollipop UI. But still, I give my preference to the most stable ROM, since I don't want juggle around every single custom ROM available.
Thank You!
UPDATE 21/03.
Thank you guys for the poll! MIUI was getting all RAM sucky so I needed to get a Custom ROM. I've tried Nexus Experience, Resurrection Remix, HTC Remix, and Kuma's CyanogenMod 13.
Nexus Experience: It has same user interface you get from Nexus, but it lacks multitasking capabilities. Besides most of the ROMs in stock looks like this, so I wouldn't recommend this. Link to Download, Credits:Nexus Exp. team
HTC Remix: This ROM is bulky in size, I've waited for 3-4 hrs for it to complete the download, and when I installed, the recovery ended with an error. But from the reviews, it said it has some camera bugs with the stock cam but Snapdragon cam is working. It didn't have the HTC Dialer also. If you switched from an HTC and want the HTC UI, you should take this. Link to Download, Credits:(--light--)
Resurrection Remix: This ROM was good, but compared to CM13, this ROM sucked battery more and at the first boot, the status bar had some lag issues, but after one or two reboots, it was working perfect. Besides that, no problem, this is the second best ROM. Link to Download, Credits:nick37332001
Kumajaya's CM13: This is by far the best ROM I've tried. Battery is the best, considerable less lag while multi-tasking, good gaming performance, and the basic MM UI. I didn't find any bugs at all. If you're looking for the best ROM, this is the one. Link to Download Credits:ketut.kumajaya
I've also found that, newbies to ROM flashing tend to think Official ROMs and Builds are better than Unofficial ones. This is a wrong perception. Kuma's build's are unofficial, but it had a much better performance compared to Nexus Experience. What counts is how much work the devs put into this.
Hope this thread becomes helpful to both users as well as developers. Great work, devs. Hope you keep up the good work.
Hello Venkatesh, Im using 2014818 too. Can you tell me which ROM are you using? Also, even after I flashed Custom recovery, I still see stock recovery, but from there Im able to access TWRP. is this expected behavior? Please tell stable roms for Redmi 2 2014818

I am on stock miui brother. First root your device, install flashify and flash twrp from flashify. You are done.

Blisspop ROM
I have flashed Blisspop ROM, run smoothly until now ( more than 2 days)
Kumajaya's Marshmellow as daily driver. Using since last december, never crash-rebooted and rare bugs. Battery could have been better. And camera, obviously you can't beat MIUI's stock camera but it's all right.
cm 13 by kuma is already stable because basic functionality of redmi 2 is now working been using till now
Thanks guys! I've updated my OP, with reviews.
@rohitaar I'm too on cm 13 its smooth stable, but have you tried aosp caf,if yes how's it? I like idea of pure aosp ROM on which I could use xposed if I want any feature. Please review it if you can
I must add the (at least) here, none of the MM ROMs has a working adb, and some of has GPS issues

Do not believe this guy, I've been using ADB for like every ROM to batch install the APKs which I've backed up from the Stock MIUI.
ADB works perfectly. Also, I love Here Maps more than Google Maps, and it has no problems at all. Brother, if you have any issues with your phone, you should check it with the manufacturers, or at least other users, see if they have any issues.

@rohitsonone No.. I had a look at it, but the UI seemed too Ice-Sandwich type! You see the screenshots! Guess I'm happy with CM13! You can use xposed in CM 13, no problems, although I don't want any tweaks.
I dont think kuma's cm13 ROM has best battery. I mean it is not to hurt him, but the marshmallow changes which forces us to enable gps for wifi functionality is the thief. It sucks battery like hell. But cm13 of kuma had awesome camera and it had no lags at all !! Very clean and smooth UI. As the kernel source has been released for redmi 2 we will have wait for some good battery management tweaks. PS: I am using kuma's cm12.1 as my daily driver and it has no problem at all except camera quality and the battery management(better than cm13 but still . . .)
can anyone help me with the audio bug? {audio playing with speaker and headphones.} the roms i used tends to work normally for 10 reboots. but after some reboots the audio bug kicks in. audio playing with speaker and headphones. hope thats the bug with roms. I have used Ressurection Remix both 5.1 and 6.0.

Pure Android experience for LG G2

Hello! I've been using Cloudy ROM for a long time but now I feel lack of RAM on my G2 Int. That's why I search for the ROM as close to pure Android as possible. Please, advice me some. Thanks!
P.S. I record a lot of video so tell me what to install in addition to this ROM in order to capture nice photos and videos. Thanks a lot.
Resurrection Remix
Give a try to Resurrection Remix rom, one of the best I've been testing.
Any LG ROM is better than any AOSP/CM ROM for G2. Fact. Stay on LG ROMs.

Both roms have pros and cons.
On AOSP (MM) multitasking is much better.
On LG Stock camera and battery is better.

You can try exodus and cm13 or blisspop.
I have benchmarked on exodus rom , clean install, via antutu benchmark and i get low score than my currently installed lollipop stock with bunch of apps and stuff.
Anyway , for me , if you dont want lots of customization and stuff, or not looking to get a marshmallow on your device, then flash stock lollipop, root, install twrp, install dorimanx kernel, greenify with exposed, and enjoy highest possible battery life.
go for the rom called Google edition 1.5. Flash Dorimanx. Be happy.
I use Dirty Unicorns with Lambda Dominó kernel and right now i have the most high batt/speed i ever had on my G2...
I'd say:
- for lightweight stock experience take somboon's stripped-down rom
- for a modern UX rom, take Ice-x rom. Take this one if You want to focus on photos and videos.
- for an up-to-date original android experience take Dirty Unicrons and Exodus roms. Both are AOSP base, both offer stability and lots of features.
These roms don't offer milions of customisations, but provide a great experience with excelent batterty life. At least for my D802.
I used all of them them as car navigation and did a lot of document photographing for my work.
All 4 are good daily drivers and never failed me.
It is up to You to tune the roms to Your needs. I have found out that both Dirty Unicrons and Exodus don't really need a custom kernel.
However Dorimanx's kernel is highly recommended for stock-based roms.
So I recomend You Ice-X with Dorimanx's kernel, but I don't know which version will work best for You.
I add that the AOSP MM roms are heated much more than the stock. Stock 25ºC-36ºC and 32ºC-44ºC AOSP...
With the lambda kernel and underclocking they improve a bit, but still warming up the phone rather than the stock, especially when using some app like the camera, gps,...
- For AOSP MM and great customization, Resurrection Remix rom [6.0.1_r46][UBER-GCC 4.9][CM13], great rom, + kernel lambda stable, improve overheating.
- For stock rom for my the best is ROM 5.0.2. stock based SRKG2-4-10 (Fast,Stable,Yummy) [3 In 1 ROM with Thai Food Names]

Which rom are you using and why?

Hi guys,
Thanks very simple I just wanna know what do you think about roms.
My data:
Rom: Stock 6.0.1
Why?: Because I think it's the best in terms of performance
LineageOS. I like it because of its stability and fast updates. It's very close to stock with no unnecessary add-ons.
Latest stock because battery life, smoothness and picture quality.
I just got a used G4 XT1625. I'm staying with stock Nougat until Lineage 15.0 is stable. It works fine for my needs. I used LOS 14.1 on my G3 and that was fine too.
InvictaOS is best in my opinion.
Currently on : 7.1.2 but, soon to be Oreo, may be in a day or two.
Stable, one of the best performing, eduqate amount of features, and fast updates!!
Its all about the personal Choice! 1st of all understand what do you need! Stock or Custom!
The best custom ROM, out of the ROMs which I have tried is Invicta... The beta version of O is out already so you can try that, and it is being updated every week (Almost! Great Dev we have!)
If you want stock, you should use 7.0 with Vegito kernel! It is very stable and gives you good battery backup! Now nothing can match stock, but it does miss out on features so once u have Vegito, u can root via magisk (its my personal choice) or any other, and then install Xposed which is now out Officially and works perfectly with stock. Adds a lot of features and good thing? You can always take stock OTAs as they come along! (you can even try systemless Xposed, I am not sure it will work or not, but it is available)
So its your choice! I have tried both of them and works perfectly! I stay on custom ROM since, it gives me one of the most imp feature that is notification LED, And more ! So, its your personal choice!
Hope this helps!
Same here Stock 6.0.1 with xposed and supersu
InvictaOS because @Silesh.Nair is an awesome developer and I really trust his judgment on what he finds best to put in a rom. And it's stable with features of my liking.
Anyone know which is better for the moto g4 the pixel experience or resurrection remix thanks

It's really more of a personal choice. Try them both out and see which one you like more.
I'm on AICP 64-bit.
Ty ragarianok I'm looking for something to use as a daily driver and I've heard mixed reviews on 64 bit saying its not as good as 32 on our device

Pixel experience has almost no customization options while resurection remix has hundreds(compared). That's the first question you should ask yourself: do I want less or more?

Best custom ROM?

Hi, everyone, I recently put Pixel Experience on this device and I'm not totally satisfied with the experience in battery life. Anyone who has another custom ROM installed in this device, which one you recommend me? Should I change the kernel? Or go back to stock? I'm interested on RR Oreo or Firehound.
Thanks in advance.
Honestly, I've been a ROMer for a long time now and in my opinion, ROMs just aren't as good as were before. I used Pixel Experience on my G5 Plus and a boatload of ROMs on my G4 Plus but the stock ROM works just fine. Sure, it may not be the latest version of Android and it may not have customization but it's stable, reliable, and passes SafetyNet. I use Material Notification and a custom launcher and I got all the customization I need. This is just my opinion, you don't have to revert back to stock, but if it were me, I would.
RR-O is really good, passes safetynet completely, and is stable, with no bugs for me so far, except for haptic feedback cutting out occasionally.
Flash Alize kernel. I am using it with PE and battery life is very satisfying.

I have the same opinion now days... I don't even unlock or root anymore, just stock ROM. A few ADB commands to enable advanced reporting in GSAM, Nova Launcher, and a few widgets and configuration changes and I am good with it.
The good old days of romming in Gingerbread, ICS, JB, and KK started dying in Lollipop... and Marshmallow and Nougat finally put an end to it being being bug-free and practical in my opinion. Romming is for people who don't *need* their phone to work 100%, hobbyists, seconds phones, etc.
Don't get me wrong, the developers are great and do their best, heck, I have worked on several ROMs and kernel teams over the years, and it's FUN... but it isn't what it used to be. :/
I'm currently using AOSIP with Alize kernel, it's very stable and battery saving
If you don't care that much about getting updates every now and then( it hasn't recently), and that it does not have all the custmomizations of other Oreo ROMs, AOSIP is a good option, I think.
Stock Rom Is the Best Rom

Any rom or kernel better than Stock?

In my experience the best SOT I got was with stock rom. Custom roms and kernels do not give me as good battery as stock rom. Anyone experienced differently? If so, please share Rom+kernel combo.
I would like to know too. But custom kernels as of this date for our devices doesnt seem to live up to their purpose in giving performance and better battery. Most of them only gives you better idle battery management but has problems like slow charging etc. Damn i wish we have huge number of devs like in RN5pro
I am searching for some custom ROM which can be used as a daily driver as this is my primary phone.
Hope our developer bring it
Android Pie ROM is better then stock in my experience. If you want otg support it isn't for you.
AEX 5.8
AEX 5.8 + Darkonah Kernel v3 = Very good battery backup and butter smooth. Also, you can try PBH Kernel
I tried crdroid rom
I was getting better sot than stock
But it was not as smooth after i installed so many apps
As of now it is the best rom and dev is also very active in fixing bugs
