Hi guys. This is my first post on XDA.
Now I've got C9 Pro, and hours ago I just got it flashed with the latest Android 8.0.0 ROM, version: C9000ZHU1CRG9.
Also I managed to flash TWRP. Then I started doing the Root things with TWRP, as I had done on Android 7.1.1.
However, I did get issue while doing the Root on Android 8.0 --
Actually the SuperSU was flashed successfully, but after this, the phone kept restarting, failing to enter the OS.
I am definitely sure I did the Root with the right steps.
Also I tried different versions of SuperSU, still the issue existed.
Then I flashed Magisk instead, no use.
I even used other versions of TWRP, still no use!
......
Finally, I quitted, flashing the former Android 7.1.1 ROM.
I can't use a phone without Root, but I really want to experience Android 8.0.0.
Can someone offer me any solution?
Thanks a lot in advance!

I already tried the TWRP you introduced, no use, the issue still exists.
try the latest 3.2.3 and tell if it worked
I suggest to flash a clean oreo via odin then flash the latest twrp from @travis82 then do format data and wipe cache and data from twrp recovery
then install the latest magisk
hope u the best @jasonc417
keep updated

You know what, I already tried TWRP 3.2.3, but failed!:crying:
I have tried almost every combination ended up getting bootloop always except when I tried these;
1. Install stock firmware and csc (not home csc this will fully wipe the phone)
2. After finishing it enters to recovery and updates the system. Keep hold of pressing the volume down+home key to enter to download mode as soon as it finishes installing system update.
3. install twrp from here https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=1322778262903985796 (original thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/c9-pro/development/twrp-c9ltechn-t3646970 sometimes links can be dead. In that case you can find new link from that thread).
4. Keep holding of pressing Volume Up+Home key while installing twrp to boot into recovery as soon as the phone reboots.
5. While in recovery flash this SuperSU https://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4164510&d=1496008012 (Located in this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4164510&d=1496008012 as "*** Xperia users, and others experiencing bootloops ***

Your phone should boot normally to setup screen.
After You finish setup you should see supersu icon and your phone should be rooted.
I haven't tested but if your phone is in working condition right now you can try from step 3 to not lose your data.
Good Luck -
Thanks for your method. I think I made it finally!

There is, however, one problem with the given TWRP:
Before flashing SuperSU, I did format, or exactly, mount /data.
But when the phone was rebooted again, /data resumed unmounted, resulting in failure in flashing other ZIPs (It said "unable to mount /system").
Then I got the phone rebooted, the terrible bootloop occurred again!
That is to say, we have to flash all ZIPs in one time after mounting /data without rebooting the phone, but sometimes this is not possible.
Now my phone has gone back again to Android 7.1.1, and I think I have to wait for an official TWRP that supports Android 8.0 thoroughly on C9 Pro!

I tried your guide & used Magisk v17.2 instead of SuperSU at step 5 & successfully resolved the bootloop problem, but I did encounter the problem of data not mounting even after flashing ashyx_dm-verity zip:

2 days ago I flashed again the Android 8.0 ROM into my C9 Pro with Root successfully, through which I found the actual problem:
The given TWRP only supports the specific SuperSU zip, and while I flash other zip files, the bootloop occurs again. That's why I surrender flashing Xposed zip.

Well done
I can confirm that I have enabled mounting data partition in TWRP after using your mentioned Disable_Dm-Verity_ForceEncrypt_09.02.2018 zip file, Although I haven't followed your steps exactly

Well, I do have a question: can I flash other zip files, like Xposed, with your given TWRP without phone bootloop?
Thanks!

Last night I tried this again following the steps, and finally the flash of Xposed and other 3rd-party zip were successfully!
Only one problem: an app named "Toggle Data" could not be run properly.
Again, thanks a lot!
How to do, C9 Pro with Root successfully?

OEM Unlock needs to be done + Crom Service App must be installed & It should be enabled.
Download files from
http://www.needrom.com/download/twrp-for-c9-pro-sm-c900f/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter
Flash SM-C900F_twrp-3.1.0-0.tar file using ODIN. I used Odin3-v3.11.1
This worked for me and I was able to boot to TWRP and flashed SuperSu.
Vol Up + Home + Power = TWRP Recovery
Vol Down + Home + Power = Download mode
Try at your own risk & Make sure you have a backup of the complete firmware ( 2.2 GB file ).
Errors when flashing the SuperSu were
Unable to mount \data and also \System
Not sure how to mount data and system.
TWRP is not allowing to mount. Some Dev has to work on this..
Try this for mount system .
It's in a9 pro forum .
No luck with the above file.
Cannot mount system & data.
Instead the phone went into bootloop & I had to flash the original firmware.
There are many issues with this Version of TWRP.
I will wait until a Developer works on the phone.
Have u try this
1. Flash twrp via Odin.
2. Boot in to twrp
3. In twrp format data
4. Flash super su zip
5. Flash ashyx provided zip Dr mount data
6. Reboot to system
---------- Post added at 04:47 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:45 PM ----------

Yes. Tried that but cannot format data & cannot find internal partition nor files. Cannot unmount system or Cache.
Twrp will freeze when tried to reboot into recovery or system.
Many issues with this Version of TWRP.

Do anyone know if there's already CWM recovery for Zenfone 3 ZE552KL?
I dont think many people use clockworkmod anymore, though I think I still have it on one of my backup phones.
Most people here use TWRP as a custom recovery on their ze552kl, myself included.
Procedure is the same to flash it as cwm.

Sounds like you may have a corrupted download. Try downloading it again via your computer and then transfer it over.
I literally JUST updated to the the latest version of nougat off Asus' website (came out two days ago!), only error I got was Error 7 which I bypassed by deleting the first 7 lines of the updater script. No problems over here?
I am assuming you have an unlocked bootloader, TWRP v3.0.2+ and have read through the guide on how to flash, including the no-verity.zip.

I suppose it's best to start from scratch.
go here and unlock your bootloader.
go here, and perform Step 1 only for now, in case you have a corrupted recovery.
download the latest Nougat firmware from Asus' website here (in case your original one was corrupted). Open the archive and edit the updater script (/META-INF/com/google/android/updater-script) to remove the first 7 lines of code, so the script starts at "ui_print....." now. Save it, and load it onto your sdcard.
Boot into recovery with "volume up + power", select "wipe"-->factory reset. Then select "install", select the firmware, and let it do it's thing. When it's done, select "wipe Dalvik & cache", and then reboot and wait no longer than 10min.
Once she's up and running, go back to here and perform step 2.
click the "thanks" button for the two gents that wrote the above guides, without them we'd both be lost, lol.

I already used the power button followed by the volume up down buttons but it is not working like before it is nougat. I only need to get to recovery mode. Please help and thankyou in advance. More power
Does u have root access now and which version of rr u flashed

I have the same issue. Can't enter into recovery and the phone is unable to start.
Same Issue || Don't Know How To Fix
Hi,
I am searching for a possible solution from a day. But could not find a working solution.
After successfully flashing RR-N-5.8.5 (Android N)
Unable to go into recovery.
PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
1. When Press Vol Up + Vol Down + Power Up
2. Recovery is not loading up
3. Instead it goes in boot loop
4. Normal boot mode and fast boot mode are working perfectly fine
SOLUTIONS TRIED:
1. Flashing recovery again using fastboot mode
2. Flashing different recovery, i.e updated version of recovery
As all recoveries which were available were for marshmallow version. I am not sure but have doubt as android version is updated so the kernel so do recovery also become obsolete in this case ?
Any help is welcome and appreciated
Thanks

Hi Developers,
Is it possible to reset the phone at hardware level? I can't even connect the phone to PC as it keeps on rebooting.
Please note: upgraded to Nougat and wanted to do the second recovery as suggested by mohancm in the post. When the phone rebooted (before flashing the second recovery), the problem started.
Please let me know if any one has a fix/workaround for the issue.
Thanks,
Srihari
1.Download TWRP recovery unzip files.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B1CKVcdcbHFPUzFCODVMN0ZfTW8/view
2.Now in folder TWRP\img\ there is the file recovery.img.
3.Download the second recovery for nougat recovery-Nougat.img and put in the TWRP\img folder.
https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=673368273298981920
4.Rename it as the original, recovery.img and replace it.
5.Then connect your phone to usb and select the 3th option from usb debugging message
"Transfer photos(ptp)"
6.run TWRP_Install.bat from TWRP folder
And you are done, had the same problem and I figure this solution, hope it will help.
I cannot locate the transfer photos(ptp)
ok I already done the part I am now on the recovery mode thanks. new problem of mine is after flashing the rom gapps and recovery after reboot it goes back to recovery mode did I miss something on flashing?
ok so i already passed this problem thanks for the help xda community thank you very much but I have this bootloop problem maybe I did a mistake flashing before rebooting sorry i am a noob in this kind of upgrade specially in mobile phones. I will be careful next time after I passed this problem I hope you will help me once again, my phone in bootloop is killing me.
I have same issue... I flashed gapps and my phone is working smoothly... The issue is i can't go into recovery mode... I tried some one tap reboot to recovery apps but all whats happening is phone restarting normally.
For those who can't access recovery mode. You were supposed to flash updated recovery image after flashing rrn rom.
Enter into fastboot mode by using adb shell.
Flash the updated recovery image
Now try rebooting into recovery.
Should work.
Worst case, restore by flashing stock rom using SP flash tools. And then start all over again.
If you face any issues ping me. Even I had faced this issue and fixed it after a lot of struggle. I can try to help you.
Or you could download Official Twrp App directly from play store, then find A3000 (Air Row) in 'select device' and flash that to recovery, (if your phone is rooted) then you are good to go, go to recovery mode and thats all, your twrp is now has been flashed.
Thank me later??

This really worked for me. Many thanks man.
Well it got me some time to find the right recovery image for my ROM so I decided to give you link for anyone going through the same.
My configuration at that time was: DotOS 1.2 and TWRP 3.1.1 (or so).
On the DotOS thread was enclosed link to wrong recovery image file (or its version was changed as of 28.12.2018) but after small investigation I found this file recovery-mohan-N.img.
Note: This recovery worked for TWRP and Android Nougat and I'm not an expert to suggest this will work for your case either.
Thank you again and have a nice time

Glad it helped
We have the first port and root for this highly unpopular BLU phone.
BLU DASH M 2 - Carliv Touch Recovery 6.6.1 aka CTRI have managed to replace the stock recovery and still keep the stock system since there are no customs roms at the moment. The recovery doesn't require you to be rooted but rooting is possible after flashing or booting this rom. Don't fall for the fake Dash files on youtube, I have downloaded them all and they are copies of similar phones and don't work.. This one is ported over from the D070Q by Carliv.
It will not flash a full custom rom but will flash ZIPs so you can root, recover, flash partitions and hopefully pave the way for a TWRP . I do have a TWRP ported over to the BLU Dash M 2 but the touch doesn't work so you can't pass the first swipe screen.
DOWNLOAD from uploadfiles.io @ https://ufile.io/8oc6k
Instructions
- Make sure to backup any important files, this will wipe your data pics, vids, etc..
- Enable OEM unlock under developer options and power down phone
- Boot to stock recovery by holding PWR + VOL UP
- In recovery choose "Reboot to Bootloader" ( aka fastboot )
- You should now be at a blank screen with Fastboot mode: at the bottom
Open your terminal and type the following code, obviously replacing your paths with the correct ones.
fasboot devices < --- will return a serial number or something to indicate connection is OK
fastboot oem unlock <--- will prompt your phone screen to accept unlock request, chose VOL Up to accept and make sure it says "Unlock pass" at the bottom
For testing only
fastboot -c "lge.kcal=0|0|0|x" boot CTR_6.6.1_BLU_DASH_M2_D090U.img
For permanent flash
fastboot flash recovery CTR_6.6.1_BLU_DASH_M2_D090U.img
Don't power down, instead boot in the same recovery
fastboot -c "lge.kcal=0|0|0|x" boot CTR_6.6.1_BLU_DASH_M2_D090U.img
Inside CTR select Wipe cache, Dalvik cache, Userdata / Data.
Select Reboot Phone from CTR menu and when asked to patch , Select " NO "
On first reboot it will reboot twice, then boot the stock system as if it was a factory reset.
This now paves the way for root with Magisk. See my post after this for rooting Blu Dash M2.
Enjoy !

Hey Thank you, got it working. Had to alter it a bit though. Had to select "Yes" for the fix as mine was restoring the old recovery.
Also when I followed your method, the system was not mounting the internal storage.
So I didn't wipe the data and used "Yes" when rebooting and the recovery is good.
I'll be looking out for the root constructions.
Great tutorial though.

That will not work for root because Magisk needs the original boot rom. I'm sure it worked for you and that's a good start but wiping the partitions in order does work as well, I probably just left something out or got the order wrong. It's important we don't use CTR to patch because then Magisk complains about boot img being aleady patched and doesn't work.
Anyway you get the idea, it took me a few tries as well but in the end I managed to keep all 3 features intact, the stock rom + CTR + root. If you need to start again you don't need the full rom or sp flash, just flashing system.img to sytem partition works to restore everything.
I'm hoping to find the source code to the kernel and make a TWRP with touch working but the CTR is the only thing we have so far. It does flash zips just not full operating systems. It also flashes boot and recovery partitions.
Thanks, I can restore and try again. Do you have the tutorial for the magisk to root?

I think most can figure out Magisk from here, the real hurdle was the lack of a recovery because the stock rom doesn't allow Magisk to be flashed.
Thanks, I already started checking in on it... I'll update here once I get through.
How to Root Blu Dash M 2 with Magisk
I have managed to root the stock system using Magisk. The stock recovery will not let you do this, as usual ignore the garbage on youtube and personal blogs, they're giving false info and fake files. This method works and I'm the first user who ported CTR 6.6 to allow for this.
DOWNLOAD Magisk from developer https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445
FOLLOW THE ABOVE POST to replace stock recovery with CTR 6.6
Instructions
- Follow first post to install CTR 6.6 recovery and reboot a couple of times to make sure it stuck.
- Enable OEM unlock under developer options and power down phone
- Boot to new CT 6.6 recovery by pressing PWR + VOL UP
- In recovery choose "Install Zip" and choose the "Magisk.zip" from your /SDCARD
Magisk installer will launch and if you did everything right, complete without errors.
- Select Reboot Phone from CTR menu and when asked to patch , Select " NO "
Phone should now reboot twice and have Magisk installed. I have verified root by deleting protected files like default.prop and gave Root Explorer permanent root access. If something doesn't work just find the right sequence. I believe it was flash system, flash recovery. wipe partitions. flash magisk
Enjoy !
The only thing left do now is find the Blu kernel source code for the M2 so a working TWRP can be compiled from scratch, then any MT6580 rom should be flashable.
Perfectly... Got it working using your same method after reinstalling the firmware... only difference was.
After installing recovery and booting into it, I then installed Magisk via adb sideload.
Confirmed root works.
Thank you very much for your patience and assistance

Thank you very much! You do not know how much I needed to be root! I thought that this device was impossible to root. I really am very grateful. Friend was asking me if you could adapt the custom Slimrom rom for this device? because all the storage of this one takes the system, it would be of great help for all the users of this phone, I do not know if you can or are interested, but I thank you in advance

Hi, can you provide a download link that doesn't require you to get a premium account to access the file. It's against XDA rules.

It is not premium, the file just expired so the site will keep it on line for a fee. I'll upload it again.

Try this one.. if the host tries to replace it with the original let us know and one of the others who have the file will re upload it to another host. I don't feel like signing up anywhere so that is why I use this host.

All 'ya 'all are welcome . Unfortunately I can't go any further because there is no source for the kernel so TWRP won't work because there is no touch to get past the first screen. Otherwise if it. did slim rom would flash without any problems, its just these older recoveries don't support a few things that TWRP has to make flashing full roms successful. If someone has source files for the BLU Dash M2 let me know.
I'll just let you guys know, I managed to make a pretty good custom rom with root only by deleteing everything but the core OS. I don't recommend this for everyone but I did get rid of just about everything and made this 6.0 more like 4.4 .. I got it to the point where even the phone and SMS didn't work and the google framework was deleted, then slowly began adding my approved versions of apps. Now its totally de googled but again I realize this isn't for everyone. I just wanted a small rom with camera ad GPS and those are working fine for me.
Custom recovery link taken down again
Could someone please upload the custom recovery again?

This is mi8se forum!! TWRP is specific for each phone (different kernel, processor...) so there's no way you could install this TWRP img on another phone than Sirius

This was a long time ago now and I've since changed device. However, I seem to remember having to switch back to the original Chinese ROM and starting again. It allowed me to install the correct version of TWRP I think. But if you do go back, make sure you don't lock your device again like I did. I think there's a checkbox on the program that you have to use to put the Chinese ROM back on and you need to make sure it's ticked. Sorry if I'm not of much help but it was so long ago now that it's hard for me to remember.

These were the notes that I left myself:
After boot, go into Fastboot and flash recovery 3.2.3-1217 twrp
Using this, wipe everything apart from bottom box on advanced wipe. Do twice, reboot once in the middle.
Flash EU rom. Do the wipe it promts after install and boot up.
Then use fastboot to flash recovery TWRP-EU, and flash magisk (canary build) to keep twrp installed.
I'm not sure what version this TWRP-EU is, so I've just uploaded it to Google Drive for you here.
Hope this helps.
