[Question] Has anyone experienced "No Sim Card Detected" on S7 Edge G935W8? - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

The phone one day stopped reading the sim card and IMEI was not available.
I flashed a stock modem file onto the phone and then the IMEI showed but the sim is not working
Should I look into trying to fix the EFS or should I look elsewhere with this device
Any help would be appreciated

[Q] Help - No sim card error

Hello,
i have got a S4 which has been rooted and flashed. It worked fine for a while but now every now and then i get a error message saying there is no sim card in it. When i reboot the phone it works normal again, without touching the sim or opening it.
I have cleaned sim card and contacts but that did not help.
Any ideas what else to try?
TIA

Hi ,
SIM card problems if they are not hardware related , they are usually caused by IMEI ( efs folder) or wrong modem if you have and efs folder backup , restore it.
What S4 you have , what rom do you have , what modem do you have??
When it fails to recognize the sim card check your IMEI dial *#06#
Hello,
i have tried everything i can think of without any success. It is a Samsung Gt-I9505.
The problem with checking IMEI when it does not recognize the SIM card is that i can't do anything but restart it. There is a error message with restart as the only option.
Now it is doing it as soon as it starts up. I never have to remove the SIM card so the phone recognizes it, just a simple restart without touching the SIM is enough.
I am on the last official Australian ROM. Baseband I9505XXUGNH6, Hernel 3.4.0-2309103 Build number KOT49H.I9505XXUGNH6
I have tried it with another SIM and same thing happens so it is not because of the SIM card.
Any ideas what else to try? I do not have any back ups of anything.

Hi mate,
Your case is not clear , it does not look like firmware but i would not discard that possibility , do you have stock or custom rom? try to reflash
Also there is a chance for what you tell me that the sim caddy may be defective

I am on official ROM, flashed over ODIN. You recommended to check the IMEI when this happens but i can't because the only option is to restart the phone.

Please more details
When you have the no sim errors it does not allow you to dial *#06# ? why does the phone freeze ?

No, it does not freeze but a pop up shows with only one option "restart". I tried to touch the screen, home or return button but nothing works but touching the restart button.

I see, is strange if you said that whith a reboot works fine it make me think more in a hardware issue...maybe the sim caddy..
This phone is driving me crazy. The replacement SIM reader arrived today and i replaced it. Now it does not find any SIM, just getting NO SIM error as soon as it starts up. I tried putting back in the old reader but the same happens.
Anyone any idea what to do or just recycle the damn phone?
Come on guys there must be someone with an idea

iMEI NULL/Baseband unknown Samsung S5 G900F

Can anyone help me with this issue...It started when my phone was suddenly restarted by itself and couldnt read my simcard. At first, i tried reboot it and luckily my phone can read the simcard. But after i remove my battery the problem came back and simcard cannot be read anymore. I tried other phone, my simcard is just fine. And i realized that my phone imei Null and baseband unknown.... I read the other thread that have the same issue (solved), i follow his step, flash stock firmware, re-partition the phone, Nand Erase All, and clear the EFS. At last, my problem solved. But, when i changed the battery, my phone will be back to imei null. I fix my phone like before, my phone was good again. But now, it is still imei null even though I follow the same step as before... What should I do? Please help...
At first i thought it happen because maybe i updated some of Samsung Apps that can cause this issue...But is it possible its because of the batteries? Both my batteries are original...
Sorry for my broken English.

Hi. My phone has already back to normal. I flash pit file with odin 3.09, i checked nand erase all, phone efs clear, and re-partition.
And then i flashed again with samsung firmware
you can flash one zip via recovery or a tar via Odin
where to get these files
sorry for my nobe question bt where to find these files!! or tutriol of full procedure!!!!!!!!!!
sorry for bad english
if you need EFS chip backup please tell me

please help me save my s5

today i flashed the xxx rom and flashed the ap file via odin all went well and device was working but i suddenly realized my network was gone.under phone info the baseband was unavailable and my imei was gone.after alot of searching i found a site where a efs+nvdata.tar file was uploaded.i flashed that file and i got my imei and baseband back but mobile networks is still unavailable. ......when ever i boot up the phone it shows a unlock sim message........i tried kies, efs professional but nothing works.i tried to restore the efs.tar.gz file but it isnt working.i noted that my imei after flashing the file matched my phone, but the s/n number doesnt match but i dont think it matters as long as the imei is ok.PLEASE HELP ME,if a efs backup will fix it i beg anyone to send me a backup or tell me how to fix it..please:crying::crying:

Hi bro first of all thanks for helping me out here but i tried to download a firmware from the site you gave me & its downloading at 15kbps!! It will take too much time to download...
is there any other source i can download it?
+ can you please explain what will be different from the stock 4.3 rom i installed?
Thanks again for helping out, Much appreciated!!
You should flash the latest 5.01 rom, not 4.3.
Try searching for the rom on updato.com.

and i get the same exact problem
also im not 100% sure but i remember i checked the efs folder and it was empty...
am i f***ed or is there still hope?
i have the imei number on the sticker under the battery btw if that helps
Did you flash anything else that could have caused the loss of imei?
The imei should be able to be injected by a cell repair shop via jtag.

Hey, I have the same problem, I guess that there's not solution yet.
Try here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3379516
Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
Do you a have a efs.img backup ? Or any kind of IMEI/EFS/RADIO backup ?
I had the same problem I flashed the stock ROM and somehow I lost my IMEI info, I tried everything and I was even thinking about buying a z3x box but then I decided to do a very risky move , I completely deleted all the EFS related files/info and reflashed again but now I was not able to boot because I always sent me to recovery mode saying that :
"E:Failed To Mount /EFS (invalid argument )"
Then all I did was installing TWRP and rooted my SM-G935F and then I placed my efs.img backup on my internal SD CARD and went on recovery launched the terminal and wrote this :
dd if=/sdcard/efs.img of=/dev/block/platform/155a0000.ufs/by-name/EFS
Then I wrote reboot and it finally my phone was booting and I recovered my IMEI and was able to use my phone normally.
This only works if you have a backup of your EFS, and even if you do is risky , but I did it because I lost all hope and was accepting the fact that my phone would just become a useless wifi only device .
So there is not a fix yet for this problem ?
I have a problem on my s7edge instead. If i have valid imei i'am almost always in emergency calls, and when the signal comes back does not go into mobile data connection. With the wi fi no problem. Can someone help me i'am going crazy.!

IMEI, Network Signal and Baseband is misssing
Hi
I am ready to donate if any expert can help me to restore IMEI.
I am using SM-N9500 samsung note 8 model - hongkong version, i frequently change the roms.. when last time i tried to install a custom rom i lost IMEI. i am getting error like IMEI-unknown, baseband- unknown, no network and sim cards not working..
i tried installing stock rom, custom roms, it was installing successfully but only baseband, signal and IMEI are not working. i didnt even back up my EFS folder. So, kindly help me to get back my IMEI.
I have installed stock rom, still no IMEI. now i rooted my mobile and taken EFS backup. is it enough? if yes, pls suggest me the next steps. I also tried installing combination firmware, though is not working, installation was successful and also i am able to see the factory binary logo, after which it will switch off automatically and boot loops. everytime it will open factory binary and immediately it will switch off automatically..
