Trying out ROMs - Honor 8 Guides, News, & Discussion

Sadly my device doesn't support Openkiring ROMs yet. So I went looking for some other ROM and found this on TEAM MT's website: KangVIP ROM
Can anyone confirm whether this works or not? If it does, is it any good, worth trying?

Openkirin supports h8. I'm literally running omnirom right now.

There's an issue with the Chinese models (AL10, AL00). That's why I can't use OpenKirin ROMs

Only with volte. Other than that, there are plenty of ppl with Chinese models in the telegram group on Kirin images. None of the devs are Chinese or have the model so they're doing what they can. Nobody wants to post logs of anything

Not just volte. ROMs don't even boot up properly on my phone, those that do don't have any cellular signal. I'm fully open to post any data or log anything they want but that won't help. They need the actual device.

On openkirin website there is honor 8 listed in supported devices. But not LO9 model. Anybody on LO9 rocking treble roms?

L09 and L19 are similar. Check the specs. I have RRos2 running in my L09. Others have also OpenKirin roms running in L09.

Hello. I am new to custom ROMs. My honor 8 (L09C432) is currently updated to oreo with an unlocked bootloader. I was hoping to use RR on my device but don't know anything about stock recovery/Ramdisk and how to install it. Can anyone please guide me in this matter!

Do you have twrp installed? Because if you haven't you already have stock recovery.

Have someone tried out Team OpenKirin's Android 9.0 Pie AOSP ROM on Honor 8? Have you noticed any bugs? Is it usable as my daily driver?

Offical TWRP

Hello all,
Can any dev actually make official TWRP for Redmi 3s. I know cofface and the other guy made TWRPs but they aren't official.
So if anyone who knows Chinese can either contact those devs and ask for them to develop twrp officially.
Or if any one can actually develop an official version for our device.
Kind regards all
Official means if TWRP devs work on it
I don't think they've that much time to work on such devices
Instead they make it for premium phone.
And it's not hard to port TWRP if you've the original one
Please read the official twrp site, they only need sources, once the twrp is built for a device.
Redmi 3, redmi 1s, redmi note 2 all have official twrp
Oh come on people, this is the first step to official custom ROMs
can anyone tell me what is stopping them to make official TWRP for so long? every single device has it even redmi 1s redmi 3 and redmi note
Well I'm guessing that the devs are contemt with the cofface and flou twrps, but it would still be nice if we got the attention of somebody, who knows how to build a recovery and make it official.
I would do it, but I would need to learn from scratch and it would probably take to long
Devs pls help
I never really understood why people are unsatisfied with unofficial builds, as long as they work without any issues
What's bugging you?

there is the reason they are unofficial,it all depends on one person ro maintain regular updates,no regular fixes less room to work with and btw not a single build so far is bugless or stable on our device so maybe that is why. No one fixed dark video in camera recording so far for almost 3 months with kernel source out.
So no one with a bit of knowledge is willing to to do this. I'll try to make a build, but cannot guarantee I'll successed

Official is when TWRP acknowledged it as trusty
i.e.: an Official build is updated every week, month, and is always upgraded to the next level of android, or not. (Redmi 3 still has 5.1 TWRP official, but no 6.0)
Unofficial is when it wasn't acknowledged, so a developer/user built it from scratch, and it gets only updated once, or twice, It depends on the user/developer itself.
Once I get my 3S finally (possibly after 2 weeks), I'll try to make a bugless TWRP
The TWRP we are using is basically a port (I couldn't find anywhere else the sources for Redmi 3S TWRP)
Given by how Kenzo is similar to Land, I have made a semi-working TWRP tree
https://github.com/Kizoky/android_device_xiaomi_land
It needs a pre-built kernel, which is obviously based on Stock or CM (Stock would be the best)
https://github.com/Kizoky/android_device_xiaomi_land/blob/android-6.0/BoardConfig.mk
It is lined out here.
Also, If some of you found some bugs within this tree just let me know
I won't make it as a seperate thread unless It is fully functional
Yey, thank you @Kizoky

Well, we need someone who is capable of building kernels/recoveries
Even though I have a strong PC, I don't have a large unneeded space for building Android (613GB is not enough when it is 90% full)

Anybody know if there is any plan to include Volte in Flyme 6 for Zuk z2?
Is VoLTE working in the latest release?
Anyone!
How to get VoLTE working in Flyme?
The UI is smooth.....
But VoLTE?
Have you tried as mentioned in other ROMs discussion? You need to enable VoLTE from stock ROM first. Make sure you get the HD symbol (??). Then you flash other custom ROMs. May be here also it is the same. Let us know how it goes.

you must install Android 6 based stock or flash zip from this https://pan.baidu.com/share/link?uk...包/ZUK Z2 底层&parentPath=/总ROM文件夹/YouLinw ROM作品 link for downgrading to Android 6. There you will also find zip which returns you to Android 7.
How to install this zip:
Make wipes, reboot, flash zip, reboot, flash ROM.
Known bugs
Hi
The rom is good I am using it since 4 days
The known issues are
1)Volte doesn't work at all
2) battery is draining fast
3)unable to sync my contacts from Google account
4)and the last issue is heating issue
Rather than these four issues everything works well the camera and everything. The major issue to me is Volte i humbly request the developers to to solve this issue.
Thank you ?

Which TWRP should I use for Nougat ROMs?

I read the descriptions of the Nougat ROMs, but I didn't find any informations about this. For me the problem with the official one is, that it makes broken backups for me and it doesn't wipe the partitions properly. So if there is a well working TWRP for flashing Nougat ROMs, possibly with F2FS support, please let me know. Thanks in advance!

Which are the best Pie ROMs for the Huawei P10 Lite?

Hi guys,
I wanted to try out a new ROM for my device and so, I'm asking you: which are the best ROMs for our device? I know that there are a lot of GSI and other devices compatible ROMs, but which are them? I'm afraid of flashing something uncompatible and causing bootloop, that is a bit hard to face since it's my primary and only device, and for this I'm asking you.
What I need: no great bugs (it will be my daily ROM), smooth feel (I'm kind of obsessed by things like this, call me a fool, but THAT feel is half of the beauty of a ROM imho, lol) and Pie-Based with all the gestures (maybe Google Now in the launcher, but I don't know if this is possible mantaining the gestures).
I hope I'm not asking something that is impossible and thanks in advance for everyone who will answer!
I'd recommend the openkirin RR rom, it's oreo but it's stable as hell and made for kirin chipsets.

Has there been any ROMs made for this phone?
U see roms? No? Because OP6T don't have custom rom's for now. Only Trable rom.

What's going on with the people today? You're even in the right section and if you don't see any custom ROMs there probably aren't any available yet.
OP6 ROMs work though with loss of FP scanner.

. Well until the encryption issue gets sorted, you won’t have a fully functional rom ie fingerprint loss. Or why don’t you have a go at sorting it? It’s all for free on XDA, so stop complaining or do it yourself. Patience is a virtue.

Err, inscreen fingerprint scanner springs to mind and small matter of TWRP unable to decrypt. Still doesn't give you right to slate the devs, they do it for free. Be grateful when they arrive and they will!

Wow, seriously? If you took a few moments to read up on the some of the threads regarding encryption, you'd see they are working their collective @$$es off. Your statement is very insulting to their work. How about you make your own rom. Currently the devs are trying to get twrp running. I am sure once that is done, we will see custom roms coming out like crazy. But first we need twrp to get that.
Just be patient and supportive of the devs. As others have said, they do this for free.

That site doesn't look official to me,isn't this the official site:
https://lineageos.org/
Also, that ROM hasn't been tested,no documentation, nada, doesn't exactly sound like SOP for official Lineage OS.
Not to mention there isn't even an Official Lineage ROM for the OnePlus 6,much less the OP6T.......
EDIT:
Definitely NOT Official Lineage OS,take a look at the download file name,it clearly says UNOFFICIAL.
Unofficial builds aren't necessarily bad, but, this is far from official.
Lineage sets the bar higher than most OEMs,they wouldn't have something ready for prime time this soon after release.

Why don't you educate yourself instead of being a twat? If you read the TWRP recovery sections, they are still sorting out the 6T's device encryption stuff. There are differences in the 6T's hardware/software from the 6. They are not the same phone. Who the hell are you to come in here and demand ROMs be developed, anyway?
