Hello, after losing hope on my Pixel XL, the famous problem of Microphone and Audio sudden shutdown, with all Pixel XL versions (before 2017), some people related it to a hardware issue
and others even went for RMA and motherboard replacement, i found a solution for the problem.
Tested on 3 phones and works perfectly with up time of more than 35 hours,
The solution works only on Android 9 (P).
just follow the steps :
First you need to do a factory reset, without any third party apps
Second go to Apps and permissions bellow settings
Go to permissions, Microphone permissions
Disable all apps except Phone, Google, and Google play Services
Then go back to apps
Search for Device Policy App
Enable the app on the top menu
Then open app permissions and select Phone only, And all will work as a charm.
i am really happy that finally i am able to use my Pixel XL again ,
if my solution helped you and i know it will save a lot of money for you, you can buy me a coffee
Following for future

It's the regular Pixel with the hardware issue. Have not seen this on xl.

both Pixel and Pixel XL, i had this issue since Oreo and now that's what fixed to problem for me.
i hope if anyone else has this problem tries this solution if it works for him.
Hi, I've tried your solution with no avail, can you specify more clearly your step by step guide?
Do you follow or skip all the prompt by Google (to connect Wi-Fi, Google Account, set password, etc)?
Do you need any restart before downloading Apps?
Can I re-enable Microphone for my other apps (camera, Messages, YouTube, etc)?
"Disable all apps except Phone, Google, and Google play Services"
And, I don't see any "Google play Services" toggle in my Microphone permission.

That's because this is not a real solution. The audio manufacturing defect is a hardware issue, which you can't fix by simply factory resetting and disabling some permissions. I have had it with 3 Pixel's, it sucks
great post. Just providing another data point that this didn't work for me hopefully i can hold out till pixel 4 later this year....

Yeah, I just tried this on my wife's Pixel XL and it didn't work for me either.
I got the solution for Google pixel mic not working There is a problem in Google assistant step 1-disable Google app running in background .
Step 2 off all settings of Google assistant.
Step 3 reboot your phone.
This will work 100%
If it is not working
Try uninstall the every apps which use microphone in background.
Thankyou

I was wondering if anyone else has run into this issue on the N10 as well or if I just got a fluke.
Front / Back camera worked for first 5 minutes out of the box. After going to a different application and trying to get back to camera, camera app fails to connect. Restart tablet, same problem. Force close gallery/camera app, wipe data/cache for the app and re-open. Same error, camera no longer displays at all.
Factory reset, camera works for a few minutes, try to open it again after leaving, crashes the same way. No third party apps can access camera either. Tried many factory resets, even with only gApps installed same camera prob.
Waiting for RMA now, but has anyone else run into this or something similar? :crying:

I had this exact problem on my galaxy nexus. I finally pinned it down to an app that controlled the LED (like a flashlight, or torch app). I removed it and it worked fine after that.
Yup looks to be a 3rd party app since it works after factory reset. I would reset it again but choose not to have it reinstall the apps automatically. Then just do the process of elimination until you find the problomatic app. Worth a shot.

Thanks for the advice but I've factory reset multiple times and have only gApps installed, same thing happens
I'm having the same problem, both front and back camera are not working properly. I'll try factory reset later this day.
Do you have the cameras working already?
I'm having the same issue too. Today's the first day with my Nexus 10, and right out of the box the Camera doesn't work. Never loaded even once.
Has anyone else had this issue and was able to fix it?
Same problem here! Do you think rooting and flashing CM might solve the issue?
Same here. It seems its only the stock camera tho. I installed 2 different cameras from Play Store & both those work perfect. Camera ICS+ & HDR+ both worked for me.

I tried these apps but it's still not working for me. Hope it's not hardware related. It worked the first day I had my nexus.
EDIT: Installing CyanogenMod solved the issue =)
EDIT 2: Well it actually solved it for just a day or two, now it's back!
I'm also having this issue too it seems. Created a post about it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2251337 and thought it was related to my rooting of the tablet since it worked okay before I tried that. Currently on 4.2.0 stock and OEM locked and the issues is still there, starting to think it's a hardware issue.

Definitely a hardware issue. I did an RMA with Google ...the new device they sent me has no issues.
Try that if your device is still under warranty! Google is pretty good at getting replacements sent to you within a week!
Turns out it wasn't a hardware issues, the problem I was having was apparently related to the sync of contacts which for some reason completely disabled the camera until such a time as the contacts were synced.
Am I the only oneplus 5 user who can not use ok google when the screen is off and charging? I have all the settings in the google app enabled however it never activates while charging and screen off. It works perfectly fine but never when the screen is off even if it is charging. Can someone please test it out and get back to me! thanks in advanced
Doesn't work for me either but as far as I understand it's meant for unlocking the phone from the lockscreen and not to wake the phone up
No I know for a fact if your phone is pluuged in and screen off it should wake the screen. Thats how it worked on my oneplus 2 , i have also tried it on a lg g4 and many phones.
My Nexus 6p woke up and GA activated upon my saying of Ok Google. Now this does not happen for me as well, I am displeased.
it use to work on my oneplus 2 i dont understand why it doesnt now
I tried changing my Galaxy s7 to a Pixel XL in build.prop and voila it worked again but after a few minutes Google deactivated it remotely because somehow they detected my phone isn't a Pixel.
So I am pretty sure they deactivated the wake up feature for all phones except the Pixel which makes me mad because it worked for a few weeks on my s7.
Is there anyone out there with a non-google phone who can use this feature?

Most of the people at the Note 8 forum are using this feature perfectly, though there are still some who are struggling, like ALL OP5 users

Here's a solution (a.k.a Hack) that I've employed that has worked very well for me for months now.
See this post for "OK Google, with screen off while charging".
Hi,
I bought new Huawei p10 plus flagship with lots of expections but I am frustrating with few issues.
Firstevice is overheating excessively when i connect net or play game.I tried few cooler master type app from appstore but those doesnt work.
Second:I downloaded a lot of call recording app from playstore but none of those works.I hear my sound only.
Third: My front facing camera looks a bit blur to me.Is it for image stabilization? If yes then how to turn it off?
Fourth:When i download any app from playstore each and every app requires permission to access my phone my images and everything and if i click deny none of app run.I feel insecure cause I have to allow every app forcefully
I am tired of these issues and i got no solution from youtube.I would like to mention that I'm running model-VKY-L29 build number VKY-L29C63B151 EMUI version 5.1 Android version 7
Please help me as soon as possible cause I am really tired of each issues.
Try upgrading the firmware, maybe it helps. i have two p10 plus and I have no such issue on any of the devices. if its new it must be under warranty get it replaced.

Hi!
1: It's not overheating, it's normal when you play games that requires a lot hardware acceleration. Also, don't play hard games when charging the phone, then is overheating!
2: It will do the same on EVERY PHONE! Or use a paid call recorder app. You did expect to find a free call recorder app?
3: When starting the front camera, the portrait effect is always ON! Disable it and your pictures will be fine (you have a small icon in the upper side)
4: THIS IS HOW ANDROID IS BUILD! Every app you download it will ask for your permission. It's first time you are using Android??
Conclusion:
- you never had an android phone before (probably you are very young);
- you didn't read the Huawei P10 manual (everything is explained there).
Stop blaming on the phone, is not the phone, it's YOU!
^ exactly what he said
(non-T-mobile)
I've been experimenting beyond my abilities, it seems. Successfully got Google Daydream to work. Successfully got Google Dialer/Phone to work. Failed at getting Google Camera to work. Now the photos I take with the OnePlus camera app seem to finalize themselves as a perfectly solid green. They also get tagged with EXIF data for a Pixel XL. Force close the moment I try to do video.
I've removed the Google Camera app.
I've gone into the build.prop file and removed the mod for Daydream which lied to say it was a Pixel.
I've restored the build.prop's permissions.
I've cleared OnePlus Camera data.
Rebooted many times.
Installed a generic app store camera. It takes non-green photos, but EXIF still says Pixel XL.
Ideas?
UPDATE... I never figured it out. Ended up going into settings and doing a reset. Even though backup & restore seems to work, it's still a little frustrating. One of the oddest things... in Settings -> About Phone -> Model... it listed "Pixel XL". In the desktop version of Mint, it suggested my paired device was "Marlin" (the codename of the Pixel XL). I hadn't altered anything to be Pixel XL-based. I had put in "sailfish" (the regular sized 1st gen Pixel) into build.prop, but not "marlin". Not sure which thing I poked to cause that mess.
Make sure you back up your things before changing your things!
I just found your thread, trying to fix this issue for myself. Disabled daydream and Google phone magisk modules then rebooted. Problem seems to have been resolved.
I am on the T-Mobile variant, flashed to international.

It's a shame... the Daydream thing seemed to work fairly well, considering the phone's screen resolution. If that's the cause, it's not really worth it for me to loose camera abilities.
I have an Australian bought Pixel 4, build: QQ1B.200205.002, Security patch level 5 Feb 2020, stock factory firmware, not rooted. Bought it on the first week of release, so had it for a while now.
Since about a week ago my phone stopped responding to the "ok-google" hotword in sleep and locked modes. Restarting the phone temporarily fixes it, but it stops again after a while. Especially if I don’t use the phone for an hour or so.
It used to work quite reliably before. Voice match is enabled, also retrained the voice model but that didn’t help. Haven’t installed any new apps recently, nor recall changing any settings. I only have a handful of very popular 3rd party apps like Waze, Tunein, Skype, Outlook, Viber, Whatsapp a couple of banking apps etc., but no games or optimiser apps of any sort.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
I had similar issue. I had to disable battery optimisation for the Google app. Seems to have cure it
Thanks for the reply, I tried changing battery optimizer settings for Google app, failing that I even did a factory reset. Still nothing. Looks like I’m not alone with this particular problem: https://support.google.com/pixelphone/thread/27204195?hl=en
Check your case, small cutouts affected my microphones on my Galaxy Note8 two years ago.
Received the march update, but the problem still exists.

Pretty sure the case has nothing to do with it, because it used to work fine with the same case till a month ago, it works for a while soon after the phone is restarted, and there are many others experiencing the same problem as noted in the above google community thread.
