Hello Guys,
This thread is specially made to discuss about the Android Pie development for Osprey & Merlin.
So instead of spamming any other active threads you can post here...
Also please bear in mind Don't ask for ETA for any Android Pie ROM... It's against XDA Rules..
I will be keep updating this thread about any new Alpha / Beta Rom releases as soon dev's post.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? I'm a bit lost here

I'm quite certain that the problem is on the kernel side of things. I tried flashing the kernel I built on a lineage 15 rom and I had the same problem

The kernels I try to compile give me a "failed to load kernel!" error on boot, and precompiled kernels won't boot

You can probably use some experience with Linux distros, preferably Ubuntu, and at least some knowledge about programming languages like C and C++ for fixing problems. You should head to source.android.com for instructions

I get this errors when I type the code highlighted it the picture.
make sure no files have brokin during repo sync and that you have modded the source correctly
Edit the file / android_manifest/hardware/msm7k/Android.mk '
On the line: msm7k_adreno_dirs: = $ (common_msm_dirs) boot libgralloc-qsd8k libaudio
Remove "libgralloc-qsd8k libaudio".
I have already encountered this issue and many others when trying to build cyanogen. I have given up for a bit as its a real pain in the butt to get to build successfully.
I found some of the build issues and solutions on this page:
HTML:
http://translate.google.co.uk/translate?hl=en&sl=ru&u=http://4pda.ws/forum/lofiversion/index.php%3Ft215440.html&ei=2ICoTYaMOMjDhAf9gvTQCQ&sa=X&oi=translate&ct=result&resnum=8&ved=0CFkQ7gEwBw&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dgt540%2Balready%2Bdefined%2Bby%2Bmsm7k%26hl%3Den%26safe%3Doff%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26hs%3DnO8%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-GB:official%26channel%3Dnp%26prmd%3Divnsfd
This problem has been solved however we have additional problems which I will post later.

Its a wrong way. Just use a TARGET_PROVIDES_LIBAUDIO := true in your build configs. And you should try edit a CM sources as minimum as you can.
And I do not undrstand what makes sense to do it if it's already done?
Instead of this try to build a Codeaurora version, they can be a more fast and powersaving.

If you can build ROMs without sources, then no, you should not download the sources
And if you did not know something about C or C++, and you can not write/change a drivers, then you waste your time now. Just building from source does not get you anithing.

We know Visual Basic, if that makes any difference.
Im glad you have some of the problems fixed fdespotovski. I was bored while doing my final year project for uni so I thought to have a go at building Android, turns out its a bit of a chore to do. Closest thing to c++ is java which I am on good turms with.
Although with java I can at least write some good apps for Android.

Thaks for the post!We don't know any other programming languages than Visual Basic.Net and we are still learning it.We will try to fix the problems but if we don't succeed maybe we will give up.Building Android is a hard work when you don't know what you are doing.

It is always best to thank a ROM OP, in lieu of simply posting "Thank you".

Hi,
First of all welcome to this thread. I wanted to be the first poster in this Q&T thread, especially created and dedicated to my ROM thread, to show my appreciation to be able being a part of this.. I want to thank @Robbie P, and of course the entire Q&T Team (all of them are RC's), to make this possible.
Now a little word about the goal of this specific Q&T thread:
"goal of this specific thread is to clean up my development ROM thread with Off Topic posts. These kind of posts will ,with this especially created Q&T thread , redirected to this new Q&A/T thread. With Off Topic post we, @Robbie P and I, mean posts that are not directly ROM development related, e.g. I want to use ths ROM, how to install it or can I use this app with this ROM,etc. @Robbie P and I will be monitoring my ROM thread for these kind of posts and ask the poster kindly to move his post to this thread. We hope that after a certain amount of time this will be self-sustaining and becoming a normal thing to do.
Many thanks to @Robbie P and the entire Q&T team,
chautruongthinh
it is for me
Good Job @chautruongthinh when you have a moment, can you post a link to this thread in the rom OP, many thanks.

I have tried to boot from wm + clrcad+haret without success. With original initrd it reboot after green htc. Also tried initrd from slim rom 4.3.1 and tytung CM10.2 (edited init.rc) then got the slim boot animation but stuck there.

And this thread is more about information and announcements for this rom.
Please don't ask for ETAs because I don't have a build server and the build compiled with GCC 4.8.2 and O2 optimisation (iykwim), it took 7-8 hours for single build.

Well, I first based my trees with Percy's CM11 sources.
Later I modified many of the files that were causing trouble while building and also changed the files as per omni dependencies.
The new source will be cleaned and uploaded once I test the rom and release it
I just uploaded the support trees on my Git: https://github.com/ramsudharsan/android_device_moto

Bro I have uploaded my build! I need someone to test and report me! I am not usually good with kernels. Hence I doubt whether my build will boot up or not. I faced a error when compiling WiFi and I solved it by some modification. Hence, it will be better if someone test it.
Let me link the first build here:

Bro I agree that my rom didn't boot but I heard from priyank.g that he used multirom to flash. Also he reported that the screen is keeping on flashing. Will use of TWRP solve the issue?
And bro, is adb working at the boot?
The device tree is perfect afaik, coz it won't build properly if it doesn't.
It might be the kernel issues. Will resolve it and make one more nightly build by today or tomorrow!

OmniROM 4.4.4: Moto E: Nightly Build 3
As xperiafan13 suggested, I worked on the device tree though I am not sure about the kernel. I made a new build little while ago on 23/09/2014 and I was sending PM to some trusted person I could find. But none of them were able to test it. And I know blind builds are not allowed on xda. Hence, I was studying what made the CyanogenMod and its derivative roms boot up while Omni don't! So I applied some patches, made by myself and made this new build. If it works,we can integrate the patches to any other open source rom to make it boot but only if this build work.
Public Link: http://www.mediafire.com/download/g63ha9qelq4ccxs/omni-4.4.4-20140923-condor-NIGHTLY.zip
P.S I am trying my best to give the best to the people. Please if possible, give me logs if you face any problem.
I will try it downloading[emoji106]
Edit: still not booting up
I hope it works now

I'm wondering does the binaries also work for dual model since I cannot find any patches in the code....
I want to build an image for myself but I cannot figure out how to.

Hey everyone!
My friend recently bought a Z5 (E6653) and just gave me permission to work on CyanogenMod on it. However, please don't get too exited, this could take some time since I don't actually own the device.
This is a developer thread and will be a place where devs group up to work on the ROM!

Often developer threads end up in a mess without some rules set, so please keep those aspects below in mind:
Things that you should not post here :
Non-development related stuff
ETAs
Inappropriate questions
Trolling
Being a rat (steal stuff and pretend it's yours)
Things you should post here:
Everything helpfull for the development
Logs
patches/fixes
Please do not post some dev related stuff if you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about!
What I'm very happy about
Request to join the development (Just PM me, I'll add you on hangouts, telegram, IRC etc...)

Guys please if you are not able to read those few posts which are already in this thread. Dont use custom roms at all. If you cant read you are not capable of using any other stuff than Stock Rom.

No, you do not need to annoy him. He wrote in three different threads how to join his test group. No need to asking more questions or mention him. Just give him the time he need. He doesnt know how long it will take, its a complete new development and thats a lot of work over and over again looking for problems reading logs and this will take some time. And dont forget this is all in his free time beside work family friends and other hobbys.

Please dont post anything which is from his test group here you only frustrate other users which are happy to download it and frustrated after seeing that it doesnt work. This one isnt booting. Already testet the next one and didnt boot.
Maybe someone knows how to solve this problem:
[ 2.390075] init: processing action (set_mmap_rnd_bits)
[ 2.390136] init: Cannot open for reading: /proc/sys/vm/mmap_rnd_bits
[ 2.390167] init: Unable to set adequate mmap entropy value!
[ 2.390197] init: Security failure...
[ 2.390228] init: panic: rebooting to bootloader
