Thanks for trying to help me! First person in a year.
I'm trying to install the APK but i get the error "the package conflicts with an existing package by the same name"
Any idea why this is? I looked and it's not in sys apps or priv-apps, it doesn't show installed and service disabler can't find it.
Thanks again!
It's hard for me to say. I'm on stock unrooted but I just used Package Disabler Pro to disable Samsung's nonsense bloat ware. Maybe it's not letting you install it because it already exists but is just disabled. Mine says it's installed to: /system/app/ApexService/ApexService.apk

If it can't be found, maybe just disable it?
If it's an N900T (T-Mobile) it's baked into the firmware I think so cannot be removed.
I froze mine, so it doesn't run all the time. Much better that way, since if you had a virus or some other security issues, you could unfreeze it and find it actually helpful. Also deleting some apps could break your phone, for example my phone stop working properly when I froze beeming service for beep n go program which I uninstalled. It was easy to fix it by unfreezing.
I was able to uninstall it using Clean Master

Cool, I'll give that a try. Thanks.
First off I am running lolipop and have been working to find a way to disable bloatware that you don't want. I can't root as I'm on a att s5 lolipop...
finally found out how to get those apps that can't be disabled disabled.
Instructions:
1. Find the app that your wanting to dissable... let's say for example My Magazine.
by default in lolipop this app can't be disabled without root... frown face.. bad day...
2.Search for an apk file online for that app you want to disable.
And install it.
3. Here's what happens now... since you just updated the system app yourself, you now have permissions over it.
So to disable the app go to app manager and look under downloaded. You will notice that now the app that previously could not be disabled... now can be. You also have the option to Uninstaller the update... update only unfortunately but oh well.
Now you have just succusfully disabled My Magazine or what ever other system app that can't be disabled.
If you need any help just ask.

Nice idea, but sometimes it may not work. Now i have no idea as to why My Magazine worked but when installing other system apps it is bound to meet a signature conflict if the apps are the same version and completely untouched by any third party. If a signature conflict appears it will be impossible to install that system app manually.
I have only seen this phenomenon on S2 and therefore i have no idea if the same principles are embedded in the S5 but just a tip if a signature conflict ever appears while trying this method.
Anyways, good find :good:
Thank u sir.
Yes oddly enough my magazine was my first attempt and didn't even check version and had success.. noW that I see this method is possible... I'll just have to find other versions of the apps I want to dissable. I haven't had any luck finding newer versions of the apk files tho
Any thing u think might work. Modifying the apk perhaps so it may possibly install as an update?
I'm just happy to have mymagazine no longer starting up and running in the background

If you modify an apk file you will need to create your own signature when recompiling, android won't like two of the same apps (same package names) but with two different signatures and the modified apk file wont be installed.
So try your method as long as it goes. who knows, maybe you wont encounter a signature conflict.
As long as the app is disabled a signature conflict shouldn't matter tho right? Because the app is disabled and all?
I'll keep a look out. The version my magazine I'm showing now is 3.0.0
In app manager I have orion to uninstal the update so if something does happen I'll remove it
You seem to know a good bit maybe you can help me with something.
Is there a way I could take
expample.apk version 1.0 and edit it somehow and trick it and or android into thinking it's say version 1.1
This would allow me to install the same version over what I have now.. then perhaps be able to disable it..

Hey there
How do I completely remove system-bound apps like WhatsApp and Instagram? The only option I am given is to "turn off" the application.
I tried using Titanium Backup but it ended up doing more harm than good so I just updated (redownloaded) the apps from the Google PlayStore until someone can help me achieve that. Would removing the actual .com file from the root directory work? I remember doing that on my HTC to safely remove system apps. If so, where is the folder containing them located?
Thank you for your time.
I completely disabled all unwanted apps (also system apps) using Package Disabler Pro (Samsung), no root required.

Removing system apps, does that make the phone go crazy?
"System apps" means all the apps you can't uninstall using the app manager.
Many of them installed by Samsung are bloatware or completely useless, unused and then unwanted.
Those apps can be safely disabled (not uninstalled), this process is reversible at any time.

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, disabling the app (WhatsApp in this case) did not do it for me, simply because I'm trying to replace it with another application, in this case WhatsApp Plus.
I ended up removing all its files manually, which left it in the PlayStore with an "update" option, so I updated it and then uninstalled it. I don't know how I did it or how that worked, but it did!

Hi there,
Since yesterday i'm trying to install some apks from apkmirror.com and this message appears: "App not installed. The package conflicts with an existing package by the same name."
I had an minor update on nougat yesterday as well, i think it was the april security update.
How can i solve this?
Thanks.
This happens with some Galaxy apps.
Some say if you try installing early enough it works (best is to disable any security verification and add a shortcut to the homescreen for this purpose).

i have been unable recently to get the lg debloater app to work. not sure why, looks like it was pulled from the app store? well there is an easier way anyways. here is my list of apps i removed via adb shell. if anyone else would like to add any other apps i think this would be a great information post on what we removed and results. did it break something? can we install an aosp app to replace it? or 3rd party and basically create a less LG device. i am sure there are more apps that can be removed then i did. i know its possible to use google search to see what com.xxx.xxx file is for, but might not give enough information to determine if removing it will break something.

It worked great thanks, remove the beginning of the commands and the success was all I had to do and then I had to install pixel launcher because it deleted that but it works great.

Glad to hear! Yes it does remove stock home launchers.
To anyone who reads this if you want to know about the apps I have listed and what they do Google is a friend. Or again if anyone knows anything else that can be removed without causing the device to break feel free to list them. I only removed what I felt comfortable removing. I am sure there is more.

I don't use this feature. But all the apps are still on your device in folders in system folder if you need to reinstall them. It was possibly gallery app that was removed?
Use "pm install <path to .apk file> " they are most likely in app and priv-app folders

Maybe you didn't have TMobile tv on yours. And no idea on the AOD . Did you try reinstalling anything to see what broke it? I don't use AOD.

I used pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.android.calendar and it worked correctly, then to activate it again, what command would I use?
Everyone,
I have been using AcquariOS on my rooted 872, but was going to switch temporarily back to the stock Oreo, but I wanted to get rid of all TMobile and LG crap (except for the camera) and replace with GApps like I have on AcquariOS.
There is a GApps for stock ROM's and I assumed that it de-bloats, but if it doesn't, I am not sure how I would do this. Typically with a custom ROM, you install GApps before first boot and then sign into the phone as if you were a Google Pixel user.
Anyway -- was just wondering if anyone had any guidance on how to proceed as the Oreo stock ROM should be posted and flash-able via TWRP any day.
I guess I'll first try Installing GApps before first boot and then assume I have to do some de-bloating afterwards...
