Selling Moto G$ Play XT1607 - Moto G4 Play Questions & Answers

Here's what I am trying to do. First, delete my Google account on this phone, then do a factory reset. Problem: Deleting the factory reset is grayed out so I am unable to delete it. So how am I going to sell it without deleting that account on the phone? Anyone have a easy answer if there is one?

Try readding your Google account or add another account (create one if needed). See if that reactivates the 'factory reset' option. If not there is probably a way to perform something similar from stock recovery.

I can do a factory reset but I cannot delete firstly my Google account on that phone as it is grayed out. I want to first delete that email account and then do the factory reset.

Factory reset will remove any/all registered accounts on device. If that's not happening then something else is amiss.

is there any way to factory reset and get rid of the google account that you enter when you first login.
i tried resetting countless times though the default and CWM recovery.
the only thing it clears is my numbers and text, leaving the gmail account and applications.
i've also tried deleting /data/systems/accounts.db
but to no avail, i can't get rid of this account.

Deleting google account

I need help deleting a google account that is attached to my rooted mtg4. I have tried to delete the account but it says that I will have to do a reset which will delete my downloaded programs.
Yep, you are screwed. If you purchased apps under that account, it's now your primary account. I went through this. I ended up resetting my phone to factory, used my new account, and then contacted every developer for my purchased apps to get them to refund my old purchase after they saw a new one come through. It was only 3 apps... If you have a lot of them, then that's gonna be a problem.
There are a couple of ways out there to change the primary account on the phone without wiping, but neither one of them worked for me. It also involves hand editing sqlite databases. You can google for them, but I doubt they will help you.
Reset.
Will a factory reset on a rooted phone cause any problems?

Just doing settings->wipe/reset will not, no. Re-flashing a factory PD15IMG will undo your root. You may just have to reinstall SU/SuperUser permissions app.

Factory Reset?

My co-worker is going to sell my his Ideos S7, but he seems to be unable to do a factory wipe, and thus will not part with it until he does so.
He says he followed the directions on how to do the factory reset, but it continues to sync his Google account.
Any ideas on what could be done?
From the home screen, he pressed Menu, Settings, Privacy, and then Factory Data Reset? Did he let the process complete all the way, including the two reboots (it reboots once in recovery to wipe, then reboots again into the OS)?
I've used the Factory Data Reset to wipe my tablet 3 times now after messing with it, and never had my google account comeback automatically.
Be careful because it has been confirmed that this method does not remove the intial google login. This means that the new person that uses the device can access your google account and gmail potentially.
Can someone confirm this?
The best way is to flash a new firmware ROM from Huawei.

[Q] How to remove the default google account without a factory reset ?

I would like to remove the default google account, but I don't want to do a factory reset. I just had my phone unlocked and I am afraid it might get locked again If I do a factory reset. The clear cache data on google apps method did not work for me. Is there any other way in which I can remove the default account ?
It shouldn't relock it if it does just root via gfree and cid unlock it. It roots your phone and its free where if you go 'have' your phone unlocked it probably costs around 20$

Just go into settings, accounts and synch then select the Google account and then select remove account. Won't lock your phone or remove root. You don't even have to reboot and it doesn't wipe your phone, just removes that account

Cant do a factory reset

I have a S7 that had a factory reset done on it via the recovery and when you try to setup and new account on it, it says the system has been reset and wants the old login info. It's a work phone from someone that no longer works here so it needs to be reset so a new employee can use it. Any way to do a factory reset so I can put a new user on it?
