I am currently on nearly 3 hours on screen time with my brightness always on auto and lowest and with medium battery saving.

Hi there. After reading many threads on battery life and screen on time (which youre all probably sick of hearing about now), i have a question about peoples results. They always describe what they did with their phone, and what toggles were on etc, but they never mention the brightness.
I see people getting 6hrs+ of screen on time, is this with the brightness at 50%? 25%? 10%???
What is a normal SOT using FULL brightness. Thanks
I always have my phones on full brightness, There are always comments on here about turning stuff off like sync, google now etc and saying "whats the point of having a smartphone"
I put the screen in the same bracket.. I've seen people boasting about getting 6 hours screen on but when questioned they have their brightness on 10% or whatever. Whats the point?
The screen on both this and the gnex are lovely, and only can you appreciate it by getting out of that mard ar5e zone and cranking the brightness up.
3 hours screen on is enough for my use, i'm getting that now using franco's kernel (was only getting 2 when i bought it)
My screen is auto brightness and it's usually 50 percent brightness and hundred here and there and I get 5 + hours on the matrix kernel.
It's usually the stock kernel that has a low battery life

Underclocked and undervolted (no difference in performance) I can push 4 hours SOT 100% brightness, with heavy gaming, web browsing and calls.
Whoever gets 6+ is using auto brightness.

But it's not like the auto brightness is trying to intentionally save battery by lowering brightness to an uncomfortable level...

My GT-I9505 has always had a very poor battery life. However, thanks to Greenify and Amplify I managed to reduce the battery drain during deep sleep almost entirely. However, I noticed huge battery drain when the screen is on, it takes half of the battery and just for less than 2 hours of screen on! The brightness is set to minimum, I use Slimkat's Dark UI which it should help the AMOLED screen, but these battery drops keeps staying (even with other ROMs i have the same battery drain)... A friend of mine has got a Galaxy S5 and its battery is absolutely brilliant, screen takes only 20% in the battery stats and he uses it far more than me... Is this a normal attitude on the S4?

The S5 does have a bigger battery (bigger in terms of mAh). It also depends on the age of the battery. If the phone is new (therefor has a new battery) it obviously lasts longer. It also depends on what you are doing when the screen is on. Do you play games or what?
I usually read on my S4 and it does not drain so much as to go from 100% to 50% in 2 hours. But I'm running lollipop. I've never had any other rom beside original firmware and lollipop gpe.
Check your settings and governor.

Hi mate
Use an app like BBS let it run when the screen is on to really see what is keeping the phone awake

I've had my S7 Edge (Xynos) for a few days. I'm getting between 3-7hrs SOT depending how quickly I drain the battery and the screen brightness (30-70% brightness)
I've noticed my screen uses 30-50% of the battery capacity... is that normal?
I had an S7 non-edge (also Xynos) before and I'd get the same battery life but the screen would use 15-30% of the battery so this seems very high to me .
TIA

Screen battery usage depends on your usage and your settings:
For your usage, take the habbit to manually switch of the screen when you ends using your phone
For the settings, you can reduce duration before sleep and reduce brightness.
Screen IS the biggest battery drainer. Looks normal to me
How much SOT At maximum brightness do you get s7 edge users?
I'm not sure, I hardly ever use maximum brightness the entire time.. I'm on auto brightness, gives me around 5-6h of SOT with regular usage (no/minimal gaming)
Maybe 2-3 hours sot? Never tried on maximum brightness all the time

Max brightness is pain to the eye and headache i admit.
That is why i do not use it.
I do not have s7 edge so i was curious any way.
It's amazing how much we actually use our phones in a given day, especially when we watch "videos"! Rate this thread to express how many hours of screen-on time you can get on the Honor Play before depleting the battery.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Approximately 4 hours of screen on time
Dual 4g enabled and moderate usage. Stand by time is great btw
With still 37 minutes of juice left, my Honor Play could stay on for 7 hours 49 minutes and 13 seconds.
Maybe something wrong... My play have a terrible battery life.
Could everyone post their average screen on time. Mine is 6-7 hours on an average with moderate gaming and everything. The games are pretty graphic intensive though, like pubg and all and by moderate I mean 1 hour.
Edit: without gaming I can easily get up to 8hours of SOT
Cuirous aswell.
Also,
How to check screen on time on this device? On Emui 8.2 / android 8.1.
Possible without apps? Gsam wasn't able to calculate, I don't know why.

In setting/battery /battery usage/hardware/screen
The battery life is very good on my Honor Play. Since I use this as my gaming phone, when my screen is on I'm usually playing games. Even then, the better will get me through a full day.

How do you get 8+ hours? Are you on oreo or pie and what is your screen brightness at?

I get between 6 to 7 with almost no games and with 10% battery left.

I'm on pie my brightness is mostly around 25% except for 3hrs when I'm travelling during which it is at 50% probably.
I too get 8+ hours sot. I am on EMUI 9.0.0.189. With 1 hour of PUBG sot drops to 6 hours. I have 2 sims with volte, mobile data on 90% of the time, auto brightness and auto rotate enabled, location disabled.

Try using power saving mode after 30%, you'd be surprised.

Seems like I set my brightness too "high" at around 70% on Oreo to get that kind of screentime.

Don't know. Generally with auto brightness I do not notice. But its around 50% when I manually adjust sometimes. The auto brightness calibration is good so there is lesser need for me to change the brightness manually.
My battery seems to last longer than I expect in most cases. I set the screen brightness for the display to automatic control. The system manages it better.
Yup, auto brightness is caliberated really well. I only use manual brightness while either playing or during night time when I put it to minimum with eye comfort on.
Does Emui 8.1 not learn brightness preference on auto brightness ?
How without pubg it can touch 8 hours of screen on time. Mine is on 7hrs in SS but I am pretty sure I can squeeze another hour out of that last 10-13%.
