I do experience rare wifi drop, where the phone cannot see any wifi for about 15 seconds before get back to normal.

I am not that impressed with wifi neither. Signal is dropping from 2 Bars to Zero and back again. I have not yet had a situation in which i had 1/4 signal strength.

why youtube video quality always open with 480p even if with good connection

I am having fast connection for normal use although the connection is terrible when I connect my Plantronics Backseat 500 headphones through Bluetooth. My wifi only supports wifi N.
Other than that range seems good to me.

I get the full 36Mbps DL & 9Mbps UL that I get off my wired PC. I'll have to experiment with range.

My Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite wifi signal strength is too poor and couldn't download from play store smoothly how can I over come this problem.

You could try a WLAN repeater or stay closer to your router.

That could be due to your carrier restrictions. For example, AT&T can stream 1080p when a certain option is selected/plan is chosen. Metro PCS only streams in 480p I believe.

WiFi strength is sometimes spotty if you're on at least my estimation of 12-15 meters away (disconnects and reconnects itself), especially if battery saver is on, the same experience with my previous phone. Otherwise, it's fine.

I work in an internet source and here a link of approximately 30Gb and in all the tests I did in mi a2 lite with all kind of router, it did not exceed 100Mbps both download and upload ... I read in a site that the maximum was 300Mbps but I believe it is false information.
I have a partner that has a redmi note 6 pro and it reaches the maximum 300Mbps

WiFi range and strength is better than an iPhone 7, no issues there.

On 2.4ghz I get at most 72mbps but don't expect more out of a 2.4ghz connection.
On 5ghz its a bit disappointing really as I can only do 100mbps.
I know it doesn't feature AC wireless but still disappointing, thought I'd see around 150mbps.
Tried a couple of ROMs and they all perform roughly the same. Crdroid A12 and havocOS A11.
What is your WiFi throughput on 2.4ghz and 5ghz ? What ROM and android version are you using ?

Looks like 5ghz wifi is a downer. Keeps dropping connection during speed test.
Sent from my TA-1004 using Tapatalk
I had problems with my TA-1012. WiFi kept dropping and wouldn't connect after that.
One solution was to clear de cache of Google Play Store and then restarting the device.
After installing others apps, the issue returned. Somehow, my router was rejecting my device.
I had to set fixed IP to keep the connection alive.
Now it's fine, but I don't know for how long. Also, I still hadn't the chance to test on other Wifis across the city.
Wifi is as good as non existant after Pie update. i got a fiber connection with dual band router and the phone isn't able to find the 5GHz network at all while being super slow on 2.4GHz (0.08 Mbps according to speedtest.net )
am completely stock still out of the box
any1 has this ?

This is my second Huawei and the WiFi strength is definitely lower than other phones. I found this a problem on my mate 10. Time will tell how much of a problem this is for me. It only happens when further away from router so won't affect anyone in a smaller house. Wil do some comparison s tomorrow with my HTc u11+ which I know has a better strength at distance.
Major issues!
I love the phone yet there a few major issues. WiFi signal is so poor that it constantly switches to data even when I am standing 1 meter from my router! I noticed that when I leave a place where I was connected to WiFi and the phone switches to data, when I am back it just won't connect to any WiFi. Besides GPS is a complete mess, it won't work with running apps for instance and WhatsApp quick-reply from the dropdown menu won't work at all. Any ideas/solutions?
No major issues here., In fact the range, signal and download speeds are much better compared to my previous Samsung.. my router is from Huawei as well so I guess they work nice together.

P20 pro model that I'm using was tested with 177Mbps upload speed, using speedtest app. This was in a public place, as my home connection is only 0.5Mbps for uploads. Google Photo cloud was effectively using only 70Mbps (not sure if Huawei or Google's fault). At home, the phone uploads images, but 4K video (even small 100MB files) don't even upload. One has to repeatedly press upload and restart Photos app to attempt to get video uploaded. So, either P20 pro or Google is currently creating a problem with 0.5Mbps upload lines. With an old Samsung S6, I could always upload automatically at home - it just took some time.
Signal strength appears good. No major issues so far, compared to cheaper Lenovo tablets and Archos type phones - which often cannot connect to WiFi without a perfect signal...

My WIFi performances are identical to other WiFi devices I own. GPS is probably better than my previous Samsung S7, both as lock-speed and as capability to keep it locked in bad situation (between very tall buildings, or very close to mountains
WiFi and hotspot working well. No issues .
V 131 (India )
Wifi strong (Tmo) not problem with GPS. google maps loads fast.
I come from Galaxy S7 Edge with andrid 6.0.1.
So I tested wi-fi strenght and the difference between the 2 phones is great for Huawei P20 Pro.
With galaxy S7 my throughput was maximum 3-4mb/sec with the phone closely to the router. And 600-900kb/s far from router.
Huawei reach 10mb/s both closely and next router. Goes down to 2-3mb/s far from the router.
Great difference !
I actually have really strong wifi, coming from i7 that was spotty here and now I'm rocking great coverage
Extremely disappointed by my P20 Pro Wifi - when to a guest house, abroad over the last weekend - 3 nights - 2 days - I was unable to use the WiFi for some reason.
All other devices - laptop, iPhoneSE, Huawei Y3 and Xiomi Mi5 had no problem whatsoever, only on my P20 Pro I was getting all the time that "Internet is not available on this WiFi", and only seldomly it was available and I was able to browse some few minutes and then again - internet is becoming unavailable.
It drove me crazy!
I did try all tricks in the book - forget wifi, enable/disable wifi, WiFi+ enable/disable, phone reboot, clear phone cash even, set IP and DNS manually as per the settings I got from my laptop - still the same!
In the end I gave up, bought a big mobile data bundle and switched off the WiFi.
Attached a screenshot telling me I have to speak to the network admin.
Only thing I thought of but couldn't find the option is to set the WiFi to be 2.4 Ghz only, does someone know how that is done?
Back home - all is back to normal - both home and work WiFi is working fine.
Anybody with similar experience? Did you manage to resolve it? I was on the first Pie (and got an update yesterday).
I have had really good performance with the P20 Pro on my 5Ghz wifi network.
................
I have the p20 lite and theres definitely a difference in signal strength between my phone and other phones put next to each other. The mobile network reception is lower, to a point where the other phones get good signal and I have none. Same with the WiFi. Is there a way to make the strength to receive better?

Interesting, I just got EMUI 10.0 for my P20 pro and ran a wifi benchmark. It seems like wifi is about 20% more efficient than with EMUI 9.1 for me.

I wish the wifi will not end up like my mate 9 problem.
Unable to access to internet during peak hour (9PM - 1AM) everday for 2.4G network - on all routers no matter how I change the channel......
Seems pretty good to be honest. Can't really fault it, it works.
5ghz wifi doesn't work for me.
It finds those networks but just won't connect.
I've heard it from other people as well.
got mine yesterday. WiFi is on my girlsfriends S9+ definetly better. Just gotta the half on strenght with the Mate 20 Pro
5ghz wireless AC working well.
I noticed that it wouldn't connect to any WiFi that was previously saved when restoring from Google backup... I had to forget and add them again

That's pretty good Imho. I see people complaining that this speed isn't enough and It should be faster. Your phone's not a PC downloading 50gb files. You barely browse and watch video. Heck. 4k only needs 25-30mbps and 1080 is 10mbps.

Its hitting the cap of my power line network, it can probably do more lol. Yeah max is stream a 1080p video whole downloading a Spotify album. Max 30mbps throughput at one time for real usage.
Anyone here know what the TRP is for the Huawei Mate 20 Pro? https://www.signalbooster.com/blogs/news/does-smartphone-make-and-model-impact-cellular-signal
Recent tests by Ireland's communications regulator (COMREG) have shown that the Samsung Galaxy S8 has incredible reception, which is measured in TRP (Total Radiated Power). On the GSM network's 1800 band, the Galaxy S8 weighed in at 23.6 TRP (also shown as "dBm"), while the iPhone 7 only had 16.6 TRP, and the Pixel had 21.0 TRP. This means that Samsung cell phones have the strongest antenna capability. We don't exactly know how or why - maybe just due to how they design their smartphones.
It isn't hitting the cap of my internetconnection like my Samsung note 8 did, but somewhere around 70% of the max speeds. Still speedtest around 350/350Mbps up and down, where the note got 630. But not complaining, the reception is good and consistent.
For a really crude, non quantifiable or scientific test I put my Mate 20 Pro side by side with my work S10e to see how 5GHz wifi and performance differs. Same connection etc. Both phones have 6Gb RAM. On small stuff for instance, the M20P updates apps way faster than the S10e from Google Play. I give the S10e a headstart and the Mate 20 P still beats it. This is a regular occurence. It looks like not only does it download the data faster but it installs it faster too.
Different story on a really large update, for instance maps for TomTom, the two phones were pretty much the same. Maybe a thing with speed getting the data off the TomTom server? Or the work wifi router I'm connected to balances the throughput with a large download? Not sure. The Mate did seem to accelerate the download to a good lead initially but then the S10e caught up later. The update for the Mate was 100mb larger and finished installing maybe 30 seconds behind. 1.1Gb for S10e and 1.2Gb for the Mate 20P.

Don't know about others, but good for me and same like my pervious device.
I had problems with the wifi, it showed not enough strength although other devices in same room could receive without problems. I took it to the store and they gave me a new one. Even with the new I still have problems with the wifi connection
I am noticing that I cannot reach the speed specified by the manufacturer. I did some speed tests and it's just 24Mbit/s. My Moto G4 Plus was much better, with my wife's cell phone that is a Moto G5 I can reach the maximum contracted speed that is 35mbit/s
I'm a little disappointed with this performance. Using the 5Ghz Wifi network I was able to reach 33Mbit/s which is practically the contracted value.
WiFi transfer rate is very unstable and low.
In the description of the connection informs that the network speed is 72Mbit/s
May be my router some incompatibility, I will do tests on other networks. At work we have a link of 300Mbit/s, my old cell phone used to reach 75Mbit/s Down and Up.
It seems that the problem is some incompatibility between the router and the phone. I tested here at the company where I work and the routers are Cisco and the speed is normal, just like my old Moto G4 Plus.

I don't think it's special in any way, I was getting about the same range from my Oneplus 6, so dont think that the special wifi antennas they advertised work in a better/more stable way. Having wi-fi 6 is nice though.
The wifi and signal strength is really superb i had a Redmi Note 7 Pro before and hardly catched 2 tower in wifi but with this device it's full always and never disconnects also there is dual wifi acceleration so that you can use both the wifi bands on your device at the same time(2.5Ghz/5Ghz) also hyoerfusion works great on the app's which don't have only one server such as youtube (as it constantly switches if ping is low so not usable for PUBG if you'r internet ping is low) while in other apps you can connect both wifi and also SIM DATA together.
Compared with Huawei p 40 pro.rog 3 WiFi is weakness
Has anyone been able to get WiFi link speed over 1200 mbps? It seems it won't link any higher even tho the router supports up to 3,8Gbps..
Not able to test cause I got some slow router but curious what router gives you those speeds???
I need one of those

Hehe, I bought myself the Xiaomi AX9000 router. I already have the Xiaomi AX3600 also. Both seems to give me the same speed but the AX9000 seems to have better coverage
