I believe it would be in the system folder and probably called boot sound. You'll need root and a root enabled file browser to get to it though

How often do you have to restart your phone?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using xda premium
It's in system-audio-ui, called boot.ogg
I replaced mine with the iron man "importing virtual preferences" audio clip
To get get rid of it just delete the audio file(or rename it)

3 consecutive times following the instructions to root and get rid of the unlock icon and I'm now sick of the stupid noise.

It's actually in system/media/audio/ui, and it's called PowerOn.ogg.
Thanks, I missed putting in that folder!

I'm experiencing the same problem and hope someone has a helpful solution
I've noticed the volume on the Note 3 to be the same as on the 2, however the sound seems to be much better. Especially when using an external speaker via bluetooth.
Sound is better than sgs3 but it is a lot quieter. It badly needs an amp

Without custom recovery can we get boosted sound?
I am using V4A mod after rooting.

I was checking out the N3 at the mall today and pulled up the sample music file. I was surprised that I couldn't even hear it over the mall noise.

You sure can, Viper4Android.
this works pretty good, just extract the files in the system folder and place them in the corresponding folder on your phone with root explorer, change permissions then reboot.... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2469463
Are there any sound boosters that work on Samsung Note 3? All of the above mentioned are not compatible so far. Ringer is very quiet at max volume

Is this the default_gain file mod?
I couldn't find the stock file. It definitely worked on 4.1.2 touchwiz, but I can't see how it would work if there's no file to begin with.
Used to be in system/etc/ folder but for the life of me, can't find it now on 4.3

Viper4Android allows you to customize headphone sound and phone speaker sound separately just like a few other equalizer/sound mod apps do. It's available in the Play Store and it works wonders. The sound I got out of my old phone (S3) and my current phone (Note 3) with V4A made a huge undeniable difference.
Link to download the .apk and install from Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vipercn.viper4android4x&hl=en
It has multiple types of volume boost functions along with a great equalizer and many other useful features.

When u unzip the file preferably in root expkorer there are two folders in the file go thru them one has 2 file in it one has 1 file in it. The one that has one in it is the one u need follow the folders name that that file was in and put it in the corresponding folder in system. I know it sounds confusing I will edit this in a few I was typing this and realized I deleted the zip after moving the file.
Edit....
Move this file to system>etc>(file)

I definitely know how/where to put the file....permissions...etc.
Just wanted to see if it actually made a difference since stock TW doesn't have this file anymore. If not having a stock file in place to begin with, adding a edited version would seem to be useless.
Just curious
Move this to system>etc>

Ahh ok. Didn't realize there was another file that controls this.
The one I remember was default_gain.conf or something like that. I used to manually edit that file to suit my needs.
Thanks for the info. Gonna try it now.

The camera has a setting to disable the shutter sounds but I don't see one for the video recorder. I made a few searches for what might be the associated audio files so I could rename them, but no luck. Anyone know the filenames?
Edit: Found this in the description of the Camera Sound off! app:
"The LG's camera app has own not removable sound files!"

You need to be rooted and use Root Explorer or equivalent so you can view system files. The file name is VideoRecord.ogg. It's found in system/media/audio/UI.
Backup somewhere in case you want it back and then remove the file.

I had found that one and renamed it to no avail. I am rooted and using Root Explorer.
Your right but it will work for any third party apps that use the video record function. Also if put device on silent it will be muted on stock camera.
