Hey,
I've been on quite a journey since I attempted to flash the Treble rom for newbies. My phone eventually ended up as DFU'd but, I brought it back to life after a following the DFU Unbrick - Disassembly guide. After doing this, the screen was not responsive to touch at all at the Welcome screen of the EDU ROM. So, my adventure continued as I took the phone apart several times again to make certain things were connected, not damaged, etc..
After flashing TWRP I concluded the screen itself must be fine because I could use TWRP using the screen/touch. I have since tried flashing several different roms, tried many combos of unlocking the bootloader (again, because I assume it was already unlocked due to the bootloader warning screen of can not check for corruption message), tried flashing bootstack and the stock rom from DrakenFX. Used MiFlash, EDM Tool to flash various items.
Each time and currently, when it boots to the Welcome screen it does not respond to touch.
Can anyone please help me with this?
Thank you!
I remember this happened to me some years ago with a different phone, and it was a bad flash.
I resolved it by flashing the stock firmware again.
What did you flash with MiFlash? Stock firmware untouched? You must do this, try with B35 untouched. Don't flash stuff with TWRP.
Untouched? Is there anything on here like that?

Those are "untouched" system images. Replace recovery.img with a proper TWRP version before flashing:

Yeah, unfortunately the very first link (since I am in the USA and have a U version) is the very stock EDL version I used with MiFlash rightg after I was successful getting the phone out of DFU. I have tried flashing it twice after and still nothing.
Thank you for helping!!!

Sad to hear that... Maybe you can try again? Who knows, with a little bit of luck...
Or try another version, like this one:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=890129502657579386
btw, did you try every single spot in your screen while in TWRP? Maybe some pins in the connector are broken and some parts work and others doesn't?
And for the sake of it, you could try discharging your battery completely.
Last thing I can think of... is to restore the stock recovery and apply the official update via sdcard:

Yeah, the entire screen works perfectly in TWRP. I disassembled it several times before when I thought I may have put it back together wrong or damaged something so, the battery was removed those several times therefore, no power.
I'll try the stock above. I'm actually trying another stock rom atm --- flashing from sdcard

Well, EUREKA! I found I had saved the first files you were supposed to load when the Axon was first unlocked ( file name STEP_1_3-B20_FULL_OTA). Flashed it and the screen works fine. Now, I have to remember how to update it...lol I've unlocked the bootloader in Developer mode and I should be on my way..... fingers crossed.

Strange.
Nevertheless, congratulations. Happy for you.
Well, it's great that I now know the screen/hardware is fine but, I am unable to get any further than version B20. OTA doesn't work, the other files to flash (STEP_4-B20_to_B27 and STEP_5-B27_to_B29) won't flash and get aborted due to it expecting a certain version. I've tried DrakenFX Bootstack and then Stock System and it boots to the Welcome screen but the screen is no longer responsive again.
I have been at this all day again and it's shaping up another all night too. I am so baffled!
Restore to stock firmware your phone came shipped with. After that update trough ota or sd card package and maybe dont flash Treble again, its broken

i wish i had seen this sooner, because i have this same exact problem on one of my boards. it will update perfectly to any of the MM sd card update files (see rootjunkys bl unlock video, thanks @Tomsgt) but the board/phone will not retain touch functionality on anything higher than mm b29. i had lost my imei on that board, and actually swapped to another one despite eventually regaining it simply bc i wanted to be on Oreo ROMs. if you find a fix, id love to know about it. i flashed and reflashed every update, sd card versions, edl versions, and OTA updates to no avail. Nougat or above, touchscreen didnt work... mine was a gold a2017u. good luck, man. im glad im not crazy.
Sorry to bump an old(er) thread I started. I wanted to ask if anyone has found a solution to this issue yet?
I have since tried updating using OTA to Nougat and the screen doesn't respond so, I had to flash back to Marshmallow B29. Thank you to anyone who might have an idea!

I've spent the whole night trying to figure this out, but to no avail. Here goes...
Hey guys, so I was innocently playing around with GravityBox when I restarted my phone so some new settings would kick in, and it sends me into a bootloop. I went into TWRP Recovery, and at first factory reset my phone, hoping it would solve the problem, but it didn't, so I ended up "Formatting Data", which still didn't work. I'm kind of new to this whole flashing/rooting/ business, and I was wondering how I could fix my phone. If turned on, it stays in the booting process with the golden "Axon" letters forever. The model is the US variant, it's bootloader is unlocked via the ZTE Request Form, and it currently has TWRP as it's custom recovery. Help will be much appreciated. Also, it's on OTA B20
Edit: Alright so I've tried to flash to boot.img as well as recovery.img in twrp, but both give me an error. Strangely enough, if I wait out the Axon logo for about 5 minutes, it actually boots up, but as if it was the first time turning it on (asks you to sign in to google, wi-fi setup, fingerpring setup, etc). Another thing I noticed was that it says I only have 4gb of storage, instead of the 64 it originally came with. Every time I reset it/turn it off, it makes me set up the phone again.
Edit #2: Fixed with the help of this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/how-to/how-to-restore-a2017u-to-functional-t3445895 Only problem seems to be that Wi-Fi does not work. /:

I don't have a TWRP backup to restore to ): if that's what you mean, any other solutions?
I didn't have to but I found a backup on XDA . And I don't really know if you should use it or you should wait till full stock image will release.

I'm in the process of doing this as of right now, thank you. Will update.
It sounds like you're going to restore to stock, so perhaps this won't help at this point, but Xposed has a "safe mode" which can be activated during boot-up and perhaps help to resolve these sorts of issues...here's a thread about it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/xposed-safemode-disable-xposed-easily-t3230336
This once saved me when I had a boot-loop issue with a tablet a while back. Good luck!
Same boat. last day or so of newegg 14 day return. At this point my decision is between Return or Replace. No ZTE image or flashable modem file means there is no fix for this, as far as I can tell.
FYI,. I have tried all of the possible fixes offered.

WiFi not working is a mismatch between boot.img and /system, they have to be from the same 'set' so if you flash B20_Boot (BL unlock) boot.img, you have to flash a matching /system as well. We have a problem with numerous file version marked just B20 floating around. From what i know, this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=68248798&postcount=53
is for sure the B20_Boot /system image , but i am unsure of anyone posting matching boot.img file. The one on idlekernel might be correct, since the dump came from B20_Boot BL unlocked phone, but it might have been modded. Maybe someone can post one

Uggg... I'm really frustrated now, because I got it working with tenfar's original modified boot image and rczrider's system backup. Everything was working. Of course, I didn't have root, so like and idiot, I tried to flash SuperSU 2.76. The phone stuck at the LTE screen after that. I tried re-following all my past steps, and can get the phone to boot, but it's acting crazy. I have two empty SIM icons on the taskbar (I had none when it was working fine) and the phone is very jerky and laggy. I cannot shut it down, or connect to PC easily. It will frequently reboot on its own, and I can't even power it down (it'll say "shutting down" for a few minutes, then reboot).
I eventually got it to shutdown, and repeated the "How to reset..." steps, but it's still acting crazy. I've wiped everything except for system. I'm going to try that next.

Would not mind fixing this rather than shipping my packed up axon7 to newegg. Think I have a few days before it has to ship, so I am open to working on it some more.

I am looking unlock and root my European Axon 7 running Android 7.1, and all of the guides seem to be for The US version and for Android marshmallow, do I need to revert my phone to an older version (if so how would I go around doing so?). I used this guide 2 weeks ago to unlock my wife's german axon 7, her phone was on 7.1 stock too, but no issue, you don't have to be on marshmallow. Only advice I can give you is to read the guide 2 times or more and take your time.
Btw after you done everything use the b05 modem, my wife has no call issues with this version. I flashed the dark rom to her phone, works nearly perfect.

Step by Step, I managed to unlock it and flash the bootstack, but I hit an error when trying to flash LOS and so decided to reboot the system and try again, however when rebooting the system I got the error "Your device software can't be checked for corruption, Please lock the bootloader". And I cant seem to access TWRP anymore, just the stock recovery.
Im just wondering if I can just flash stock because I cant use my phone at all atm

Then flash twrp again, if your on stock recovery. You need twrp. Something must replaced twrp with the stock recovery.
After you flashed twrp use the files from the official Los thread
Bootloader and modem.

Unfortunately I cant seem to view the phone as an adb device, unless i select the "Apply update from adb" option in the stock recovery, however this only lets me sideload and i cant reboot it to edl mode or anything like that to install TWRP.
What happens if you are on stock recovery and type adb reboot edl. Another way to get to edl mode can be to shut down the phone and press both volume keys while connecting the USB cable, I read that somewhere here, may need some trys.
Btw,
"Your device software can't be checked for corruption" this is normal if your unlocked.

Good, you did it. Yes, after you flashed the latest official twrp,
flash the bootloader zip and modem zip which are linked at the first page of the Los thread, then your prefered rom with gapps and root if you like.
DON'T relock your bootloader !!!
Have fun!
So i have this A2017G owned by a cousin of mine. He had never tempered with anything except updating OTAs from the settings app. Meaning Stock everything and BL locked. Now, all of a sudden his device lags a lot (after the N-B06 update). When booting the device the boot animation lags like crazy. And it almost never gets past the boot animation (always restarts at Axon 7). The times it does reach past the boot screen, the device hangs after a minute or so and restarts.
Things that i have tried:
# Factory resetting through stock recovery.
# Downloading update.zips from ZTE and trying SD Card update trough stock recovery. Which always fails saying Signature verification failed.
# Booted to factory test mode and tried adb devices on cmd. Nothing comes up as there is no new device on the device manager. Also no sound.
# Booted to EDL mode and flashed N-B06 from this post: https://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/how-to/guide-ztea2017v2-0-0b08-t3658636
Nothing helped. Same old lags. And of course, the device is unusable.
What to do? Suggestions?

Get a new phone. Unfortunately I think it's some hardware that is broken. But in case it's not try to flash b05 instead?
I don't see anything else you could do since adb doesn't seems to work. I'd just RMA it with the warranty still being in effect. And if it was purchased trough amazon you'll probably just get a new one ! (that's what happened to me last time).

Did you try downgrading through EDL? I'll post the link to MM B10 for you to install through EDL, see if that helps. I seriously doubt that it's a hardware issue since it would not even boot if that was the case (take the Nexus 6P and 5X as an example: big cores busted and the phones wouldn't get past the boot logo).
Don't unlock the bootloader if you can't fix it, it'd make matters worse if LOS-based ROMs didn't work.
Edit: Here are a couple of links for B10 from 4pda. should be the same file:

I have tried this EDL package as well. Most of the time it says can not found programmer file. Only once it said can not find hello packet, reset status. That also ended up in error.
The N-B06 EDL package flashes fine. But the problem still persists.
I have also tried replacing N-B06 recovery.img with TWRP recovery.img and flashed it. But that just bricks the recovery.
Currently the 2 EDL packages i know are these two. N-B06 and MM-B10 for the G. The N one works fine while the MM one doesn't. Do u have any other EDL packages?
I too think it's a software problem since he has never dropped the phone and only used it for 2 months.

I got that package from 4pda. if you go to the 4th category brick repair manual, then enter the link that says "Qualcomm drivers and MiFlash" it will redirect you to 4pda. no need to translate: just open the spoilers (I think it's the 2nd) and you'll find all of the images. You obviously have to use the A2017G ones. there's B10, i think B11, B05, B06 and maybe another N package too
The thing is that it'd be best if you could downgrade to Marshmallow, as that would probably do some other stuff that N packages don't do.
Do you have an external SD card plugged in? Try to use without external sd, i already had lags because of a defective sd card (that couldnt be rescued nor reformatted )

I was gonna suggest that, but a read-only SD card wouldn't provoke that. I had one that got read-only after using it as swap for a long time, and you would only notice in twrp (booted in ~2 minutes). If he was able to try to install a system update through the recovery, he was able to write to the SD card --> it's not dead

Thank you for mentioning there is EDL packages in 4pda. I just tried the packages that are available for the G variant on 4pda. But the problem still persists.
I was thinking that too. Trying to downgrade through EDL. But so far i've found only one MM so far, B10. But that ends up in error during flashing process.
Is there any way to install TWRP through EDL without unlocking bootloader? Also, is there any way to unlock BL without adb? If i could at least unlock the BL, i could flash twrp through EDL. There are EDL packages available for flashing TWRP.
Thanks.

Mabey but I think as in my case that something has happened with the hardware. I think it is a hardware's fault that has come up to the surface when he updated the phone like it did 2 me. But hey, it's just my theory.

The problem is axon 7 is not available in our country. If he has to rma it then he has to send it to a relative in Sweden. Then the relative can do that for him. That's why he asked me to do what i can to revive the phone. RMA is the last resort for him.
Now, i guess i will give up and tell him i did everything i could.
Anyways, thank you all for helping.
Okay. This is an odd one for me. bought another axon 7 bc it was cheap. swapped in my old board and battery because it was charging and running really hot. (ive owned 4 axon 7 now, it was the hottest ever) so surgery went fine. upon booting, the touch screen, does not respond to touch. while within recovery (twrp by nfound) touchscreen works perfectly. i really dont know what to do to it. i have tried to restore all sorts of backups, but every one has the same issue. ive tried not including EFS and tried it included. if the screen wasnt working in TWRP, id question my hardware labor, but im kind of stumped. i keep trying to download B19 nougat edl, but the download keeps failing. (thanks tmobile and my in-laws wifi). my question is coming from a functional custom recovery is there a way to flash or restore stock recovery? i know i can EDL eventually, i was just wondering if there is an easier way?
EDL fails to complete using any of the EDL files i have tried so far using
Secondary question, is there any EDL thats works as a necessary starting point? i.e.- on moto devices, many firmwares were not backward flashable. ultimately, i just want to know if i can EDL Marshmallow or if that is even possible. i have attempted B15, B19, and B32 with no success.

you should be able to EDL any update without problems. Use EDL Tool, that one works even better than miflash.
What a mess. ? Maybe an EDL flash on the newer board would have fixed the thermal problems...
Try an IDM for downloading stuff. If the download fails you can simply resume it no problem. IDMs on Windows are crap, but this one works perfectly (on Android, that is):

Pretty much par for the course with me and Axon 7's. Simple op impossible. lol.
I just flashed b32 which Miflash says flashed successfully, yet as was the case after b15N and b2xN the splash screen pops up, the image of stock recovery flashes just for a sec, several red flashes, and power off.
It takes a try or two to get EDL mode after that. i guess tomorrow (left it at work on my desk) the phones original board is going back in. lol.
So i swapped back to the board that came in the phone and touch works perfectly. that board was missing the pink paste on the back of the SOC. after having it run 115-125° F, i decided to swap the battery with my good one and add the pink gummy stuff too. on stock it got so hot it would freeze and shut down, and now bl unlocked on O RR, i have to undervolt -25 global to keep it stable. i did finally manage to get full EDLs to work, but the SOC just seems faulty or tweaked. i imagine it is just one that runs hotter. also, in swapping the screen back, i have concluded that the other board i had must have a connector issue for the touch display. i may try to resinstall it later. kinda tired of screwing with it for now. any input is appreciated. thanks
EDit:
hot board made cool by flashing back as far as i could go, but now it has no IMEI. lol.
UPDATE: finally figured out the b15 full edl i was using was what was killing the screen. flashed back to b20 and screen worked fine. now both phones do not have IMEIs, though. win some, lose some. lol
Hello
I decided to start from scratch and installed latest stock rom with mi flash. The tool reported successful but I ended up in a boot loop. Somehow it failed when the screen came up with 'data encryption....'. I flashed it again ad the phone only vibrated when power on. I hat to do the restore point method to gain EDL mode. I flashed an older firmware. Now the screen stays black. I'm able to boot into fastboot, unlock the bootloader and install TWRP. But the screen is just blank/black.
I have a feeling it haves something to do with emmc_appsboot.mbn or boot.emmc.win
When I flash boot.emmc.win with fastboot on Slot A (I tried both slots) at least the LED turns on when the device is plugged on a USB cable. But nothing more........
I still have my backups, created by TWRP. I don't know this is in some way helpful.
I find the tool TWRP Backup Tool. It seems I could restore a TWRP backup from there. But which file should I use? My backup is a folder. There isn't any .zip or .img file.
Some ideas?

can you do me a favour please? After the rom I flashed last night (yes, I guess it was a Nougat version) I was able to enter edl mode and unlock the bootloader. Today I tried other ROMs. Now, I forgot which Nougat version exactly worked for unlock boot loader. If you can post the exact version or a link would be great.
I don't think it's a hardware fault. I guess we need only the correct boot files. It should be possible to extract those files from a TWRP backup. But I can't find any hint how to do it.
If you find something that helps. please post it here. I'll do the same....

Yes, the bootloader is unlocked. I'm able to enter into fastboot. From there I can flash TWRP and boot into recovery. I installed even Magisk. It seems everything to work, but the screen. I was very careful when I did the testpoint method.
Here's the result of the fastboot oem device-info:
(bootloader) Device tampered: false
(bootloader) Device unlocked: true
(bootloader) Device critical unlocked: true
(bootloader) Charger screen enabled: false
(bootloader) Display panel:
OKAY [ 0.047s]
Finished. Total time: 0.047s
Do you think there is still a chance to fix the device? I thought about to send the device back where I bought it. The device isn't even 2 week old. But I doubt the dealer will grant me warranty since I opened the device.
Edit: THe cellphone starts normally me thinks. If I want to boot into bootloader I have to press power and vol -
I run the TOOL ALL IN ONE which shows me immediately when a Fastboot device is detected.

After I was in bootloop (with screen) I wasn't able to unlock bootloader. So I used the Mi Flash tool. I tried different (at least 6 or 8 )versions from this site: https://xiaomifirmware.com/roms/download-official-roms-xiaomi-mi-a1/
After flashing the roms, the phone only vibrated when tried to boot. It repeatedly vibrated when connected to the USB cable and charger.
Only one rom allowed me to enter fastboot and unlock the bootloader. Android 7.1.2 Nougat (N2G47H.7.8.23) ( https://xiaomifirmware.com/download/5117/ )
That's the rom which is currently on my phone.
I tried once to install the latest Oreo 8.1 with TWRP. Since my screen is black, I used the TOOL ALL IN ONE. The flash process was successful. But then again only vibration when try to boot.
Actually, in all those versions GAPPS or Magisk isn't included.
Just to mention; my Mi A1 is a MDG2. Not sure if that matters.
Without the screen, I'm kinda limited regarding to TWRP.
EDIT: I never did a backup by ADB. But I did several with TWRP. I wanted to recover one of them. But methinks, that's not possible with the TOOL ALL IN ONE.
Edit 2: I also made a TWRP backup from the Stock Oreo 8.1 version. It was the state on which the phone was delivered. I only did installation wizard like login to google account.....
The folder contains files like data.ext4.win000, data.ext4.win001, system.ext4.win000, system.ext4.win001. But once again, I don't know if this is helpful in any way.

OK, we already know that it is with bootloader unlocked and in Nougat. That tells us 2 things: 1) It will not accept Stock Firmware until it blocks the bootloader and for now, that is not recommended. 2) You have to install a Nougat CustomROM, because to install Oreo you need to update the firmware.

Since the use of the AIO tool has not been effective, I would consider using the native firmware's own commands, especially flash_all.bat, which in theory leaves the cell phone as a factory and does not relock the bootloader.
Another aspect to keep in mind is that before decompressing the firmware file, rename it to a short one. It happened to me that a very long folder name was generated and the flashing was not completed.
Try this process with firmware N2G47H.7.8.23, using the instructions on the page that you mention, in the section "How to install Stock ROM (fastboot) on Xiaomi Mi A1"

A last question. If they replace the phone, I know, there chances are zero. Would I face the same issue if I want resurrection remix with the phone sound? Would I have to flash that modem.img?
If so, that's just not worth. It all started with that problem. Everything worked perfect but the phone.

Well, the truth, I never had any audio problem with calls with Resurrection Remix, and this rom I have used it in more than 6 phones of different manufacturers.
In my case, the problem of the calls was presented by flashing the modem of the version 8.1 of November, but downgrading to 8.0 was resolved.
Good luck with the cell phone, and it's a pity that it has been damaged.
It is advisable to learn to use the ADB and fastboot tools directly, rather than the AIOs.

Hello
I didn't give up so far. Something interesting happened.
I did the follow command: fastboot flash boot.emmc.win
The flash boot.emmc.win I extracted from my TWRP backup. Now, the phone rebooted and I hear a android notification. The charging LED is working too and the backlights of the buttons. When I touch the screen, the backlight of the buttons goes on. It looks like the phone is running. But, the screen is still off.
When I press the power button short, I hear the sound which indicates the screen goes off.
Tell me if I'm wrong, but with that behavior I think it isn't a hardware damage. Since still is Nougat installed, I might need a boot.emmc.win for Nougat?
We could be very close to fix the software.
EDIT: I used: fastboot boot boot.emmc.win
If I understand this correct, that way it is only temporary. So I tried:
fastboot flash boot_a boot.emmc.win
and
fastboot flash boot_b boot.emmc.win
With that, nothing happens. So, now again fastboot boot boot.emmc.win
Phone has restarted. I hear a sound. When touch the screen backligh of buttons goes on. I'm in a menu I guess. The installation wizard. I also hear the sound when I press something on the installation wizzard.
At least, that's new. Before there was nothing.
Edit 2: Might it be related to efs1.emmc.win and efs2.emmc.win ?
Edit 3: That's crazy. I touched the screen randomly and activated a 'Screen Reader' for blind people
