Can "multi users" be used on J7 with custom rom/kernel? - Samsung Galaxy J7 (2017) Questions & Answers

I tried enabling multi users on my J7 by adding these 3 text lines (last 3 lines) to my build.prop, on boot up my android updated but I can't find Users tab in my settings... I read somewhere that multi users do not work with some roms, is that right?
I'm using this kernel.
Do you know of any other way of enabling multi users?

Multiusers can be used on MOST sammies by so modifying build.prop
On custom Roms, I guess it depends on how deeply they are modified from stock fw

[Q] custom fonts

How I can install custom fonts to u8800? I have tried everything: font changer app, flashable zips, moving fonts manually but I'm always stuck at bootlogo or bootanimation. I have tried on 2.2.1 stock and aurora ICS.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using Tapatalk 2
Just for curiosity, is this one of the method you have tried? Like you said moving fonts manually.
Before anyone says, I know it's Moto forum, but method still should be the same
http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-themes/8605-how-install-custom-font-your-rooted-droid.html
After reading topic I had a thought maybe font you used is not compatible or scaling is not correct for U8800.
If you get this working, maybe I give it a try

[Master Patch] I9505 TW based LP Roms to I9295

Looking at the I9505 Forums at stock based ROM's and feeling... wish I had that ROM ?
Well.... no need to feel dejected anymore
So... let's get started
What you need:
5.0.1 Firmware (use as per your region)
Custom recovery Philz Recovery OR TWRP recovery
my masterpatch download from below link
my custom Imperium kernel port for I9295
5.0.1 TW ROM of your choice for I9505
I'M NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY POSSIBLE DAMAGE DONE TO YOUR DEVICE AS A RESULT OF FLASHING.
I WILL NOT TAKE ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR BRICKED PHONES OR LOST DATA.
How to install:
place custom rom , my masterpatch and my custom Kernel on your sdcard or phone memory
boot into recovery
Factory Reset and manually format boot
flash custom rom, then masterpatch, then custom kernel
flash I9295_Menu2Recents.Zip in case of S5 or S6 based ROM's (Imperium / Albe S6 Port, etc.)
Reboot
enjoy
What's working
Calls (most important)
Wifi
Bluetooth
Camera
GPS (took some time to connect but worked after some time)
Tested & confirmed ROM's
Imperium Rom V9
Albe S6 Port 3.0 (Phone gets too hot during first boot and recommend to keep it cool)
Let me know if you have tried any others and I will add them here
Bugs
Device name appears as I9505 ... if you want to change that make a simple build.prop edit
Same bug with Kernel - Unable to set Pin and Password on lockscreen
None that i got to know of in testing for half a day.... let me know if you find any with a logcat and I may be able to help.

Attached here below
Change Log:

@mythi for his original ZE masterpatch for CM based KK ROM's giving me the lead.
Myself for the Kernel and the masterpatch.
Enjoy!!! and don't forget to pass some love by pressing the Thanks button
Nice work ! , you could use a bash script executed from zip's updater script included in your patch so that it uses sed to rename references of I9505 inside build.prop of choosen rom

Yes, you can. As long as you are on the 5.0.1 firmware as stated in the requirements, you can flash over any ROM. Just follow the install steps
Wow, i will test this and report the results!

Just one questione, not related to patch, you've been able to use on imperium Rom recent apps? Cause on central hard key it launch google, i see that recent apps are launched by single tap on menu key but for me don't work .
Edit: don't mind i find an app doing what i want (All in one gesture)
Anyway really good job

It seems that CarHDROM has some customization for key layout. The hardware buttons for home and back for Active are not available in the regular S4 therefore, this is included in the masterpatch and overwrites the default keylayout from the ROM. You could manually extract /system/usr/keylayout/gpio-keys.kl from CarHDROM zip file and add
key 139 MENU
key 158 BACK
Replace your /system/usr/keylayout/gpio-keys.kl with the modified file, set the permissions and reboot. If this does not fix then you will need to check with the author of the ROM

It is not recommended to flash i9505 modems as they may not be compatible with the bootloader.

Ignore my earlier post....
I tried Albe S6 Port 3.0 yesterday and got my phone heated up so much that it shut down twice. Finally let it cool down completely and did a factory reset, switched it off, let it cool down and powered it on keeping it in front of the A/C vent (to prevent heating) and managed to boot it up. Back to WizCyan for now...
The Long Press Home button on the S4 ROM's (Imperium & Albe S6 port) are somehow mapped to Google now which requires a smali edit to switch it back. You could alternatively try re-mapping the menu button for recents (as in S5 & S6) as below
Navigate to system/user/keylayout/Generic.kl ---> Edit Key 139 from MENU to APP_SWITCH
Navigate to system/user/keylayout/gpio-keys.kl ---> Edit Key 139 from MENU to APP_SWITCH
Alternatively you could try out the below links and see if it helps in remapping long press home to recents

I have not tested S4 ROM's extensively. Imperium was tested for half a day bare bone (without installing any apps) and found stable. Every ROM is different, the recent apps issue with imperium & Albe S6 port can be easily fixed by re-mapping menu key as stated in the previous post (menu is activated by longpress menu key). I am not aware of any other issues and if anyone else has tested any of the S4 ROM's can advise further.

Private mode on rooted N900

Hi
I have been using a rooted Note 3 N900 for a long time but a non working Private mode has forced me to start my 1st thread. I know there are ways to enable it on Note 4 with Xposed mods but is there any way to make it work on N900
Yes, but it's not simple. First and foremost, you need a kernel that supports it. Aside from that, there are a handful of changes that need to be made in various system files.

[GUIDE]Enable Multi User Mode on Note 5

HI. I don’t know why, but Samsung did not add multi user support on our beloved note5.
If u want to try it here is the guide to set it up.
I tested and confirm 100% working. This is applicable for all variants.
1. Open up root explorer
2. Navigate to /system
3. Paste in the following line at the bottom of your build.prop
Code:
# Multi Users
Fw.max_users=3
Fw.show_multiuserui=1
Thanks
Sound awesome
Thanks for posting this.

In Darthstalker rom the feature shows up in settings under the Device section... it's baked into the rom.
With this mod, I would assume it's in the same place in every rom, but I'm not positive.

Next Step?
I have followed all the steps above.
When I get to adding a user it goes through a new user setup just fine until it gets to the end.
Then it gives an unexpected error box when you click finish. Then I have to restart to get out of new user setup.

Hello,
I come from after checking a Youtube Video about this feature.
This is the code I used.
#Multi User
fw.max_users=30
fw.show_multiuserui=1
fw.show_hidden_users=1
fw.power_user_switcher=1
It worked, and I could successfully set up different users, and boot into their profiles.
The only thing missing is the button to switch the users after setting them up.
Not like in the video, on my device, this yellow button is missing!
<- how it looks in the video
I even tried to change [fw.max_users=30] to 3 or 5, but with no success.
I am using a Samsung Galaxy S10+ [SM-975F/DS] with Android 12 Stock ROM, and ONE UI 4.1.

[Guide ] how to enable fingerprint gestures

So while I was playing around with M10 prop files I discovered a nice find.
This is how to enable fingerprint gestures which was introduced in EMUI 5.1 and for thus device which has front fingerprint sensor. (includes honor magic)
!NOTE! This has been tested on Honor 8 and P9 running EMUI 5.0.1 and it might not work on older versions such as B389 or B391!

No need to edit product
Let's begin:
Navigate to product/etc/prop/local.prop
And add this two lines
[email protected]:
ro.config.hw_front_fp_navi=true
ro.config.hw_front_fp_trikey=0
This should be between
####### 7.PRODUCT INFO BEGIN
####### 7.PRODUCT INFO END
Else it most likely might not be enabled
Once added reboot to see changes. Navigate to settings > navigation key and select the top to enable gestures.
Now you can enjoy full screen without navigation keys
This will let you use
Home: tap and hold on sensor
Back: tap on sensor
Recent: swipe left or right to open recent

If you wonder what theme I use its not official anywhere.
It's oreo (mate 9) dark theme which is for substratum theme engine most likely with mate 10 spectacular theme icons and preview images.
Only thing that is different is theme number and name to avoid confusion for theme manager.

I've yet to say I found it by luck.
Also there some other stuff I have enabled in ui but won't share since
1. It's not working
2. Is untested
I have no clue if I'll share it or not. Just because too many people might try and nag about it isn't working or they Maybo succeeded to break something else.

It seems that just editing the file (even if you don't enable the off-screen navigation button) you loose the Fingerprint Quick Action feature.
I like lock and unlock by using the fingerprint. How could I solve?

BTW got this in one of the custom ROM but the issue was when this was enabled, fingerprint sensor setting was gone from settings. (Honor 6X)
Also this had some glitches mainly back and swiping it was opening google assistance sometime (not here but the custom ROM)
Can anyone possibly make a video tutorial for this? I'm pretty stupid when it comes to modifying andorid, I can take out navbars with adb but that's the limit of my knowledge lol. Also do you need root?
