Searching for a Head Unit - Android Head-Units

Hello all,
I am searching for a Head Unit for my Seat Ibiza 6L, from 2006.
While browsing thrrough internet and this forum, I have seen 2 more or less clear options:
- "Safe choice": Sony XAV-AX100. 280€, android auto..., but resistive and low-res screen and not managed with android.
-"Risky choice": Chinese HU. I have seen some models with 4gb of Ram and 32gb of Rom, with more or less the same characteristics, all of them based on Android.
What I am searching for is:
- Hands-free calls.
- Spotify.
- Google Maps.
- RELIABLE.
- Correct fit in my car.
- Less than 350€.
- Volume Adjustment Wheel (no buttons).
Can you recommend me any specific model? Specially to beat the Sony, which was launched back in 2016.
Thanks in advance!

Hi, can anybody recommend me an specific unit?
Thanks!!

Might I provise extra details?
If needed, please advise! Thanks

Xtrons TE103P

Hello Folks,
first of all i´m not a native english Speaker.
I am thinking about to replace my Honda FR-V Edix Old-Shool GPS / Multimedia System with an aftermarket DoubleDIN Navigation System.
Primary i want to use FM Stations to listen too, and Android Auto / Navigon all with offline Maps for Navigation.
I have seen many Chinese Units, but this one is my favorite
hxxp://xtrons.com/head-units/double-din-car-stereo/te103p-10-1-octa-core-android-6-ddr3-4gb-ram-32gb-rom-hd-digital-touch-screen-car-dvd-player.html
Is there any Support for this Unit? Any tips or smtg to be aware of?
I found a Link on ebay, but the description says: Touch buttons backlight is disabled! (Is there any way to enable this with apps or other Software?)
Probably there are other Units, you can suggest.
TA101P?
TD103PL?
Other Manufacturers? Other Screen sizes than 10 Inch?

Which Android Head Unit? How to choose?

Hello everyone
I want to have an Android 2DIN head unit in my car, but I'm having a really tough time finding out which one I actually want. As we all know there are dozens of different brand names, looks etc. and who knows how many combinations of what's underneath - how do you choose from such a mess?
For example, what I'm looking for:
- a generic 2DIN Head Unit (nobody seems to make one fitting my Lexus IS200 directly so I will just use Metra frame)
- something modern, fast, capable and with good support (manufacturer and/or community) - I reckon I need MTCD/E PX5, right? Is 4GB RAM worth it? Android 8.0, 8.1? Plus there seem to be PX6 on the horizon, should I wait?
- physical buttons and I'd love a volume knob (no steering wheel controls for me)
- stuff like 3G/4G, GPS, wifi, BT, camera etc. seems to be the same so shouldn't be a factor, right?
So, given those parameters, how do I decide which unit to buy? Is the software interchangeable on all PX5 units? Are there any OS differences out of the box?
What about sound quality - is it the same (I see outputs of 4x45W, 48W, 50W - do they actually have different amplifiers?)? Any particular brand names to look for/avoid at all cost?
I've managed to google one useful link [cut] - is this site credible? (unfortunately I'm not allowed to post urls it seems, google "best android head unit" and click the one with wiki.ezvid)
Thanks for all your help!

Guidance for Android Head Unit

I currently have a Kenwood KVT614 head unit that I hate with a passion. I can't stand the useless screen (without apps it really serves no purpose), the navigation software and about everything.
As a result I am considering switching the head unit out and I love the idea of something running android.
My car is an electric car and it only has a single DIN slot, so I am somewhat constrained in my choices.
Ideally I am looking for an android head unit that covers the following:
- Can run android apps, e.g. navigation (both offline and online via the phone)
- Tethering - I read that some headunits have issues with Bluetooth tethering which is obviously much better for phone battery
- Having an electric car, I actually want the headunit to turn OFF (not sleep) when the car is off
- Screen size: not too big - probably 6-7 inches or I saw some "very wide" widescreens at 8.8 inches that would fit well
- I also like the idea of screen mirroring or android auto (and carplay) working but I would very much prefer for this to work via wireless (not some stupid cable)
- power consumption would ideally be as little as possible with this being in an electric car ...
Does anyone have any recommendations?
I have been looking at some of Joying units, since they seem to be the most modern android head units with 4GB RAM, 32 or 64GB storage and running Android 8.0 or 8.1 …
Would love to get some feedback.
And how do I determine whether a head unit is a MTCB or MTCD, or whatever?
Is there a database or list somewhere? Does this no longer apply to new headunits?
It's too bad there is no sticky or wiki with recommendations and some guides.
Once you know your board (MTCx) there is some decent info, but for someone looking for a single DIN headunit there current forum setup is pretty useless.
No one helps here much.
The new joying intel based units have a new dsp chip that will blow everything out of the water in android platforms. I ordered on last week. Will be doing a review on it by next weekend hopefully

Need help choosing a Android Nav Head Unit

Hello all, I'm new here. I am located in Switzerland, and have access to a German shipping address to buy a head unit in Germany, or directly thru AliExpress overseas.
I have a few questions choosing the right unit (maximum 9 inch), and I hope you can help me answer a bunch of questions. Maybe you can quote whatever question you may answer. Thank you very much.
1. What is the difference in PX numbers, like PX30, PX5, PX6, and is PX6 the best option?
2. Are there radios with DAB+ integrated, or do I always need a USB Stick?
3. Also, can I use TPEG (Digitally transmitted traffic information thru DAB network) when using a Navigation software?
4. Are there head units that already have Bluetooth 5.0 integrated?
5. What 1280 * 720 9-inch units are there?
6. Which version of Android do you recommend for a head unit; Android 8, Android 9 or Android 10?
6. What do you people think I should look out for when buying a future-proof head unit for my resto-mod car?
I would like it to have:
Capacitive screen 9-inch maximum (due to size restriction in center console)
Sufficient RAM, future proof (maybe 4GB if you recommend)
32 GB on board memory or more (I only use the Radio for Music database and On-Board Maps of Europe, no Videos)
Reversing Camera Input and DVR (but afaik, an external recorder is necessary?)
Bluetooth 5.0 is highly preferred
Digital Sound Processor DSP is highly preferred
DAB+ TPEG for Navigation Traffic Information is highly preferred if compatible
Thank you for your help, further questions are asked later, since I am researching Touchscreen Auto Radios for 10+ years, and now since they got so affordable in the last few years, I would like to buy one for my project car – But since my budget is limited, I would like to research well and only buy once; I hope you understand.
Thank you all.

As far as I know all the Chinese android headunits have severely crippled bluetooth, that ONLY work with phones (BT headset mode) and clones of elm27 obd readers.
So BT 4 or 5 doesn't really matter.

1-) Px it's the processor, today the top is PX6 from Rokchip or you can choose other family, Airmont which produce the SC9853i . The "war" between Android 8.1 or 9.0 or 10.0 it's a non sense; the real problem it's the firmware support which for 90% of chinese producer it's 0.
Only a few producer (Ownice, Joying , Daisata, Isudar) offer updates after you buyed.
About RAM, 4gb or more, space for ROM it's enough 32 gb.
So, the rule number 1, don't buy cheap h.u. (under 250€), rule n.2 and first to see the link for future firmware updates, rule n.3 pay only with Paypal, if you have problems with HU, and the seller don't answer, Paypal block him untill resolve your problem (Aliexpress rules are tricks)
Thank you both, so,
• Bluetooth 4 or 5 doesn't really matter, both are bad,
• PX6 is the newest processor,
• Android Version is not very important, receiving updates after purchase is more important than Android version,
• RAM should be 4 GB or more, 32 GB ROM is enough,
• Pay with PayPal (or credit card, because good credit card companies protect you, too), AliExpress buyer protection is bad (unless you buy a lot like me in the past, then they protect you better thru "VIP" protection rules)
But what about IPS screens, are they better?
And what about Digital Sound Processors, is this better?

Unbranded head unit microphone upgrade

Hi everyone,
I recently bought a used 2010 Prius with an android HU. It's unbranded (noname) and pretty weak (1gb ram). I could live with the android performance issues but the microphone is driving me crazy. Nobody can hear what i'm saying. The unit has an external mic and i wanted to upgrade it to a different one but for some reason, the mic that's connected to the HU has 5 wires (last picture) and the one i ordered only 2 (mono jack). There's also no mic jack. Here are my questions:
1. Is there a way to connect a different mono mic?
2. Does anyone have any idea what unit this is and where i can find a wiring diagram?
3. Can you recommend a better unit? I like the ones that look more like stock, with physical buttons.
4. Any known fix for the error in the picture? "Software has not been authorized legally" when trying to use Easyconnect to mirror my phone.
I need any info i can get, you don't have to have all the answers
Thanks!
I googled "Sp9853i_1h10_vmm" (taken from one of your photos). Turned up quite a few results. I have not had experience with that particular unit but maybe might turn up some useful information for you perhaps.
Not an MTCD, requesting mod moves to [Android Head units] forum.

Thanks for the reply. I've done that first the problem is there are multiple manufacturers with multiple configurations. I contacted Seicane and am still in the process of identifying the unit/software with them but the back and forth is pretty slow..
This is not your "standard" moddable unit, I'm afraid. Most information here and on forums like 4PDA is on units based on 2 main technologies:
1. 8227L Mediatek, system: YT921xx
2. Rockchip PX3, PX5, PX6, PX30 based on MTCx chip.
By having a quick look at what you got, the mic is the least of your problems. These units are packed with so called features but need considerable hardware and software modding to make them work and even excel.
Here is an example of one such modded units, started off as cheap £70 Android, and ended up performing on par with luxury Android units. The video shows the mods, just to give you an understanding.
To save you time, invest in a Dasaita MTCE unit as that one requires least mods to perform well. You can find them for around £200 on AliExpress. Good luck!
Thanks for the info. I'll look into one of the PX chips and go for dasaita.
so i've found a single Dasaita unit for Prius G3 https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001625066855.html?spm=a2g0s.8937460.0.0.20fa2e0eCiCqeA
The problem is i can't find this model on Dasaita website or store and i'm not sure it's real. I've emailed Dasaita but no reply..
There are multiple units from diferent brands (Ownice, Wondefoo..). Can i go for one of those? What should i look for?
Some sellers list the "K6 plus" version as the top of the line. Should i still go for PX6 or is that better?
