[Driver] [kernel]Xperia XZ Premium Newer GPU driver + Newer kernel. - Sony Xperia XZ Premium Guides, News, & Discussion

I wanted to mention there are newer GPU drivers for our device.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-mix/development/driver-adreno-530-540-gpu-driver-t3815853
i have tested them and they work as expected.
Syncmaster have fixed adroplus kernel wich should work fine now.
This is still on testing phase but u can try it.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1w0w607tgx5cl5C0HBvz18rVNH3eH6O97/view
Ramdisk was took from Original FTF and everything was added from
https://github.com/AndroPlus-org/android-kernel-sony-msm8998
Edit. these are some kinda of beta releses, and better be aware it can brake things.
Driver will break camera atm ill try to contact ppl to get things sorted.
kernel was stable for most part here, but i think i will give the kernel dev i got on my sode atm another try.
PS: if any kerneldev or interessted dev sees this u can become part of the team to lead the device to its glory.

What version of AndroPlus kernel is it?

[ROM] Unofficial CyanogenMod 9 [BLECM9 0.02]

Current status: CM10.1 in the works and this version will not be updated.
Got started with the project in January, I'm now ready to present you my first custom ROM (and kernel) - BLECM9!
First of all - BACKUP! This is not stable for everyday use just yet.
It also includes my own kernel, based on the latest CAF source code (ics_chocolate). The kernel gets frequent updates from CAF and me. Kernel version is 3.0.8. It's not as stable in the beginning but a better choice in the long term.
It won't include Google Apps, you need to manually install gapps package, as any other CM rom is by default.
Prequisites
U8800 upgraded to 2.3
ClockworkMod Recovery v5.5.0.4, not tested in v5.0.2.7
Instructions for Installing
Download the latest version of BLECM9 (Downloads below).
Copy the package to your internal/external SD card.
Reboot to recovery.
Flash the update package.
Optional: Install Gapps package (Downloads below).
Reboot and wait. The first boot takes around 2 minutes.
Downloads
My Google Code Page
Google Apps @ goo.im
Additional Notes
Report issues.
Changelog.
No, this won't work on U8800-51 or U8800Pro.
Atmel TS users, 0.02 will not work for you. I am establishing a new driver, to make the driver standard. Please standby as this is my top priority.
Everybody, send me logs if something does not work. This kernel is under heavy development. On computer with ADB set up: "adb shell dmesg > dmesg.log" and send the dmesg.log
Major Bugs
No Atmel TS support.
RIL issues (does not detect all SIMs)
NT35510 seems to have issues when turning on the screen (confirm?)
Unstable backlight on low values.
Wifi MAC address is 00:11:22:33:44:55
No Camera.
No Bluetooth.
No FM radio.
No audio (except ringtone/alarm)
Sometimes glitchy hardware acceleration.
No sensors.

Yes, It's related to HW acceleration, causing some UI glitches.
Have been waiting for this for a long time, even if can't even use it because of Amtel TS.

Great! Been waiting for CM9 a long time ago too... Blefish, you should post some rules as to what we should and how to post in this thread, maybe instructions on how to post specific logs and what kind of info you need. The rest of the discussion should be posted in the general section. I would really hate for this thread to become a mess like Aurora's...

I flashed 0.02, touchscreen didn't work. Then flashed Atmel-test2, touchscreen still doesn't work. Also phone reboots randomly.

[ROM][JB 4.1.1] Monfro Aosp 23.09.2012 (extremely smooth)

MONFRO AOSP

This is a pure AOSP rom: it has no extra features so it can be snappy and smooth at maximum level.
Indeed the goal of this rom is to be as fast as possible.
- CM10 partition layout (422mb for data)
- Devil Kernel 1.4.1 VC (new kernels with new CM vsync available as addon)
- Devil Kernel Config included (and a init.d script generated with this program, to have everything set up stable at the beginning. If you set bigmem, before reboot remember to set 480 in videocamera settings, otherwise camera app will crash with bigmem). I suggest to install also NSTools, to have more overclocking and BLN options.
- GAPPS (updated to latest) are included
- I SUGGEST A FULL WIPE BEFORE INSTALLING THIS ROM, because added features from CM10, Helly Bean, AOKP and other roms can conflict with pure AOSP settings and functions

I have to say thank you, because your Lanight rom showed me how fast AOSP roms are, as you can see from my enthusiastic comment of 20.09.2012.
But on Lanight 4.0 there were some glitches, for this reason i decided to work on an AOSP rom. I see that you worked to fix Lanight while i was working here: if i would have seen your new rom build, probably i wouldn't have worked on my AOSP.

Message app is from CM: it works better than AOSP one.
AOSP message let you enter messages only of 160 letters, for this reason i decided to substitute it with CM one.
cant get radio working.....
Wifi and signal are not opening. Looked around but didnt see any other radios available? Am i looking in the wrong place? (in this forum) Other than that the rom looks great, but until I can get my wifi working i cant get a full picture of what this rom will be like... I am going to do some more reading. had this problem before, but flashed a radio and everything was good. Now I cant seem to find one. Call me an idiot if you will, just need some direction on where to go from here. The website i used last time has radios for ics but not JB.
Also shell was not given SU permissions. Bad flash maybe?

This rom uses the same layout as CM10: 422mb on fastest nand for data and the rest (slow nand) for system.

I've been on xda long enough, but I'm drawing a blank at the moment. If my WiFi isn't turning on, would changing the modem affect that?
My Captivate has been relegated to my backup device, almost always used on WiFi.
From what I've played with on this rom, I like it a lot. Keep up the great work!
I have had similar issues with other JB AOSP roms with CM10 base. If I understand it correctly, it is due to the datadata partition that is included with this base (data partition table messes up the Kernel or something). To my knowledge there is no work around for this. Some of the AOSP roms here (LANIGHT for example) have a nodatadata version which solves the problem.
Hope this helps!

So the problem comes from the Bluetooth kill function in devil kernel, which kills also wifi.
I suggest to disable devil idle and deep idle and to leave "enable Bluetooth " in devil kernel config app.

Hey Monfro, how is going the battery life so far ?

RR 3.0.9 ROM: link to a MALI Patch (fix memory leak + new kernels)

As an quite user here in the forum, it is not allowed for me to share things in the development section.
Just want share a link, which patches RR 3.0.9 with the latest MALI drivers. Therefore for all people which can not wait for an update of rr 3.0.9 it is quite fine: memory leak fixed (had been very annoying because my phone got frozen after 3 days without reboot) and enables you to use the latest dorimax kernels >7.0 (fine battery + speed)
Found the patch in an german forum:
http://www.android-hilfe.de/custom-...ma-ota-resurrection-remix-jb-3-0-9-a-162.html
the patch itself can be downloaded under the link (thank the user rush85 in that other forum):
https://docs.google.com/open?id=0BzvcR7D2Mt5KQ1JLMXJDQmFzNkk
1) I flashed over rr 3.0.9.
2) wiped dalvic. wiped extweakts profiles in cwm
3) flashed dorimax 7.3 (mali)
4) to be sure, wiped again dalvic & extweaks profile again
5) reboot
and ready to go!
--> Much faster + reliable (memory fixed) + nice powersave

a personal question & comment
by the way a question:
does anybody knows how to directly get access to the developer thread?
I have not much time to post. But I'm a heavy linux user on my 3 desktop PCs since over 6 years. Know much about linux kernel tweaks, debugging and android.
But also one critic to S2 users:
I've followed the Galaxy ACE threads for the last year and must say, that there the "developer threads" are much cleaner! No noop with "how can I flash this" or "where do I find this and that" is disturbing the replies of testing by the community for clean feedback & input for the developer(s).
- Sorry for that, but the people should just post relevant things there to make it easy for the serious testers and developers.
So after this patch ,can i flash parandroid 2.21 which ri8 now does not support dual booting in siyah ???
no. that patch is only for the ressurection Rom in Version 3.0.9.
it has nothing do with other ROMs or versions. you would break it.
I don't know who actually developed that patch. but it is working fine. next RR ROM after 3.0.9 will nevertheless have the Mali driver patches included, as the sources will be updated.
so in summary: just for the impatient waiting users of RR ROM.
Sent from my GT-P6810 using xda app-developers app
and just one thing I forgot in the first post: run also fix permissions in cwm after flashing the patch and kernel.
whilst waiting for a new RR release,
I'm now very happy with the performance and battery life of my s2! just bought ot 10 days ago to substitute my good old samsung ace 1.
Some hints for optimizing your s2
Just for because I want to know the experience of other people:
Did anybody tried that mali patch?
I'm running it since the first post here. My tips for an excellent battery life with good performance:
Remember I'm using the combination of RR 3.0.9 + mali patches + Dorimanx Kernel 7.3 (need the mali patches)
Make use of the extweaks settings to undervolt GPU (800 mV is ok for mine at low frequencies) and enable some sleeper mechanisms. I undervolt the CPU with the app cputuner (for all frequencies -50 mV; otherwise unstable for me). Because I'm a lazy person I automatically adjust the brightness via lightsensors (Velis Auto brightness app works fine; but also eats some small cpu time).

For improving deep sleep times:
[A] Additionally I found out that it is really wothfull to get a baseband matching RIL modem configuration to get over 95% deep sleep. A good tool to check/correct this is:
"GetRIL"
I deactivated also "fast dormancy" (I'm on O2 in germany) with the App:
"Fast Dormancy Toggle i9300"
[A] and really did the trick to get a high amount of deep sleep for me. Without I had just approx. 75% and now up to 98% in G2 mode.
Playstore Issues due dpi change:
If you get problems with app compability in playstore after you changed the dpi in build.prop, I recommend to search for the "multi dpi playstore" replacement here in XDA.
Last thing which is interessting: no use to lower the CPU >200 MHz. Why with a clockfrequency of 200 MHz the equinox CPU is at the best rate of calculation speed / powerconsumption. Therefore lower frequencies: lower energy but more time to finish tasks --> worse than 200 MHz.
An really good and technical/scientific investigation with hardware measurements of voltages and power consumptions is given in a german forum FACTS and MEASSUREMENTS agains wild speculations:

you can flash the malipatch zip over a installed rr 3.0.9 by cwm. don't miss the wiping steps and fix permissions.
At the Moment I am on RR 3.0.9 + mal patch + dorimanx 7.4. a perfect combination for me.
by the way. I always activate in the developer options the 'disable hw overlay'.
feels smoother for me.
so let us hope that the next RR release will have the Mali patches inside. .... but until that release I already enjoy this combination. - until now no reboot had been necessary due to the old memory leak seems to be gone.

What are you browsing with? I had the same problem, but it is probably the browsers you are using. Are you using stock android browser? I used opera mini browser, and the page loads quite differently and gives you an option to download the zip file.

by the way a question:
does anybody knows how to directly get access to the developer thread?
I have not much time to post. But I'm a heavy linux user on my 3 desktop PCs since over 6 years. Know much about linux kernel tweaks, debugging and android.
But also one critic to S2 users:
I've followed the Galaxy ACE threads for the last year and must say, that there the "developer threads" are much cleaner! No noop with "how can I flash this" or "where do I find this and that" is disturbing the replies of testing by the community for clean feedback & input for the developer(s).
- Sorry for that, but the people should just post relevant things there to make it easy for the serious testers and developers.

I similarly have much to share at times, but I guess you just have to post to post. It might explain why there are lots of irrelevant comments.
About your critic to S2 users, my guess is that the S2 is a lot more popular and hence you would have a lot more people asking questions. The upside is you have more developers making awesome stuff on it.
OH and about the patch, will try that later.
Again: How to download

Call me old fashioned, but with things like firmware, roms and updates (not inly for a mobile, but other devices) I don't trust wireless. I always download serious things by desktop pc. There the download is quite fine with any browser. I used firefox. there is a screenshot attached.
But maybe this patch for 3.0.9 is not necessary, as we may get a new RR version this week. ? Let us hope the developer has some time after the the milestone release of the AOSP team is ready.
nice work!
can't wait for the next RR update

[Testing][Kitkat] Flashable Adreno 300 series August 2014 driver update for Xperia

Hey, I know the power of our GPU devices is fast. But everyone of us want to push their phone faster without killed the battery. So today I introduce you: Adreno 300 series update driver for Xperia. It should work with every Xperia that powered by Adreno 300 series GPU and Kitkat rom (recomended 4.4.4)
Based on Qualcomm developer preview driver for Nexus line. I had removed unused stuff (wrong libs, file, junk, etc...) and make it flashable....
Prefer to flash via CWM (TWRP on your choice but I notice that many mod cant install correctly, that also happen to CWM so if you had any trouble, try to flash via both recovery...)
Remember to clear kernel setting, wipe dalvik/cache after flashed this
TOS: I dont care if your device is faulty, weird, brick, your house on fire, you loose the job...Flash at your own risk after trying this...This is test driver, not officialy one....Remember to backup everything before trying this....Dont cry if you didnt listen to me...
And remember to run games/benchmark to compare after and before you flash this mod...

Yeah, we are take the source from the same (Qualcomm) But mine is better for right now (Trim useless file, reduce 2x of file size, IDK about that thread)
And Qualcomm just updated Adreno 320 driver for Ubuntu 14.09 Linaro. So dev have chance to port Ubuntu ROM....
Our Xperia just use driver dated from 04/07/2014 so I think this will bring some boost...

I would love an Andreno 200 series version of this, despite that no one actually confirmed any performance changes, only one post showing a small increase (maybe just a normal difference when benchmarking), I'm whilling to give my Xperia S (Adreno 220) any performance boost at all. Almost 3 years with this phone and I guess it's almost time to retire it, so no problems for me. :fingers-crossed:
Now is ok with script in .zip?
now its working, zip flash it via twrp and i notice a big jump in performance on my z2.score 3d in antutu before it was 9k, after flash almost 14k
great thanx buddy:good:

Here (recomended 4.1.2) (Untest, flash at your risk)
Adreno 200 series libs
Flash like Adreno 300 file (wipe dalvik/cache...and so on)
P/S: Since I didnt know the mount system in old Xperia I will put a harmless test file in zip to check if the zip is flash correct. After flashing this, /system should have a file called "AdrenoTEST". If you already flashed but still cant find that file, that's mean I used the wrong way to mount system in recovery. If you can find it, feel free to delete test file...

I read the article along with the update, It's not quite fully functional, still quite a ways from being a working rom but he has shown that project treble does work and is somewhat viable. from looking at his screenshots the ril (sim stuff) is not working yet, I made some suggestions to him regarding his build that might fix that but he hasn't gotten back to me. Still not there yet but at least it shows that a generic AOSP Android can be installed and booted (at least the system and data images) by virtue of project treble. There are still a lot of things that are closed source relating to the hardware on our device and the SoC itself.
NFC not working, BT is wonky, FPS is not enabled, Keyboard is crashing when opening numbers/special chars, no HotSpot/Tethering, RIL does somewhat work but requires some more work on the actual device overlay.
But the essential things are working, Video Enc/Dec, Camera (Video, Photo), LEDs, Audio, HWC, vulkan, WiFi, BT (atleast its visible when i scan for it), power hal, maybe i forgot a few things ..
I've tested a self-compiled build on my H8 Pro, and thats the result, so i'd expect some similar situation for the Mate 9.
Regards

Did a build myself for the HiKey 960 reference board that uses the same SoC as the mate 9 and am doing a generic arm64 build right now, I'll be testing the both out when I get a chance. I think that I might have a little more luck with the HiKey build as it is the same SoC. It's a work in progress but project treble is showing some promise. I'm looking at making a flashable (in twrp) that will install the AOSP build (whichever one works)

You are very welcome, this all is a work in progress but from what I see so far project treble is going to make development easier in the future. I might try installing the boot image from my HiKey build to see how that works, it's the same SoC as our devices so it "should" boot, it's kernel version 4.9 which is the latest and supposedly greatest so we will see. If it doesn't boot I can always flash back the stock Oreo boot image.
I got a spare Mate 9 and can install and test stuff, happy to help
I'll keep that in mind

I'll keep that in mind, I will be uploading my system.img and custdata.img for both builds when this one gets finished (takes forever on my old PC) they can be flashed via fastboot provided your bootloader is unlocked. I'll post the links after I get them uploaded.

I'm rebuilding, there is a thread on AOSP here https://forum.xda-developers.com/project-treble so I'm following the work there to see what changes to the framework need to be made, my build hung at 99% so I ended up starting it over, I think my build machine is running out of memory and the Java compiler is chocking. his v2 build boots and is mostly functional you can download it on his thread. His build is based on the 8.0.0-vts_r4 testing branch and mine is the 8.0.0_r34 release branch. You can download a build based on his changes and the vts branch here https://drive.google.com/file/d/1wMa_dgkWrqbC9i4GxUNOQlH0qIwffPph/view?usp=drivesdk

Haven't tried it out, it's supposed to but I'll have to check that out, there was a report of taking a very long time to get a fix off GPS, but nothing specific to Galileo.

Yeah, the whole ASOP and treble thing is definitely a work in progress and it's going to take a little time to get that all working with the phone hardware properly but once it gets all figured out it is going to make updates easy and open the door to a lot of possibilities with custom ROMs

Indeed, this stuff is exciting. My mate 9 should arrive tomorrow.... Can't wait.
Is the kernel compiled too from AOSP, or is that pre-compiled already in a boot.img?

No, in order to use the AOSP build you have to install Oreo beforehand, there are beta builds available for a few of the mate 9 variants right now but the "official" Oreo updates should start rolling out sometime in December. I had downloaded and installed the beta for the US variant.
