Help... Data Partition error. - Xiaomi Redmi 3s Questions & Answers

I flashed MIUI Pro... Used it for a month or so.. then I flashed Mokee rom... Everything seemed to work well until I rebooted phone into twrp to flash magisk. I saw that data partition is not accessible at all. Unable to mount error came. So I flashed global dev miui rom using Fastboot mode. and after successful first boot i went into fastboot.. flashed Mokee Nougat instead of oreo. everything seemed good.. Until I rebooted into twrp to flash magisk but could not get into twrp cause now data encrypted and non of my mi account pass or phone pin is working... I again flashed global dev miui rom using fastboot... and again flashed twrp then new rom.... and after a successful boot into system again booted to recovery to check if i can access data partition or not... BUt still no luck.. Unable to mount data partition. HOw to fix this??????? Anyone got any Idea thanks.

Just reflash your device with deep flash cable or just use pin point method

Stuck while flashing Rom zip [solved]

I officially upgraded to 3.0.2, unlocked and rooted my phone.
It was fine for the first few times I flashed multiple ROMs. But ever since I flashed Exodus, I keep having issues switching to different ROM.
A week ago, I flashed "Switch to OOS3_H2OSMMv7" zip and was able to flash Resurrection Remix, but today when I tried switching to CM13 or PA it gets stuck at flashing the ROM zip. I tried flashing the firmware zip again and flash the ROM, but to no avail. It won't flash any ROMs now, just stuck at recovery while flashing the zip.
I have a working fastboot and recovery mode though, so I'm trying to avoid flashing the entire factory image but that seems to be only option left. Does anyone have any clue as to why this is happening and how I can fix it?
Edit: Resurrection Remix gets installed fine, CM13 and PA still giving me issues.
Edit: I downloaded the latest version of CM13 and it works. Earlier I was using June 30 build which seems to have issues with the new firmware. I'll try out the new PA build to see if it fixes that too.
What error does your recovery gives?
Do you have Data Backup?
Can you access ADB while in Recovery?

It does not show any error as it just looping while installing the zip. I have to force shut down the phone to exit it.
Yes, I have backed up all my data
Yes, I am able to access my phone in both ADB and in fastboot modes.
After flashing Custom ROM, Wipe data, cache, d-cache and then reboot.
If still doesnt work try flashing another custom ROM. You can use adb-sideload to flash another zip in recovery mod.

OP5 bootloop with every ROM

Hey fellas,
so I rooted my phone and tried to install some Magisk modules, but after rebooting it got stuck in the TWRP bootloop. So I flashed the Nandroid backup and it got stuck in the OOS boot animation. After that I tried reflashing OOS, but it didn't change anything, so I tried Lineage OS and now it won't even get past the Oneplus logo at the beginning and keeps restarting.
Thanks in advance
EDIT: when I flash the stock ROM through TWRP it installs normally, but then when I try to reboot it says there is no OS. So I flashed the stock OS to try adb sideload, but my pc says it cannot read the zip.
I also decrypted my phone through the OP5 Decrypt App, before the bootloop it worked for some time.
Of course I wiped everything before every action.
if you can bootup into recovery, try go into advanced and format data and system.
if you can't your last chance is using adb - flash a default rom.
Is it any different than wiping everything? Because it didn't do anything. I can access both twrp and fastboot so I guess it's not that bad
sounds like you went from unencrypted to an encrypted rom and your data is encrypted, or visa versa.
yep, it's vice versa, I used the OP5 Decrypt App after rooting. Is OP5 encrypted by default?
If you've tried the Android 8.0 Rom, just go to the official OP5 support site and download stock rom, flash it via ADB sideload if you can. (Don't forget to format data etc etc..) and restart from scratch.
Unlock BL if it's relock, then flash TWRP and go for a custom ROM. That's what I did, happened to me 2 days ago.f
EDIT : Oh you just flashed Magisk.. Well, try this anyway.
I tried flashing Lineage, but I can't install Oxygen
Ok, so apparently OOS boots up only after relocking the bootloader. And I had to make adb use more RAM to get sideload to work.

[Solved] recovery/data TWRP Oreo

Hi,
My OP5 worked like a charm with Resurrection Remix 5.8.5, but recently my pin was randomly unrecognised, and I solved it with lock key files suppression. I ended up to restore a backup but got a bootloop, that occured with every rom I tried.
I had bootloader unlocked and magisk flashed.
I finally managed to flash and boot Resurrection Remix 6.0 (after wiping every partition), but at every reboot, when in twrp 3.2.1.0 (also tried on 3.1.1), I'm unable to mount data partition. Also it doesn't ask for my pin as it did before all those reflashing. The rom seems to have no issue (except some bugs).
I tried reflashing twrp without result and deleting internal storage is working so far as long as I don't reboot. I found some threads with similar problems about Oreo's related roms but I don't know if they are related to my issue.
I'm currently on RR6.0, bootloader unlocked, twrp 3.2.1.0 and no root, and encrypted by default.
Do you have any idea on this ?
Thanks for your help.

Are you using the twrp from twrp.me or a modded recovery like codeworkx or blu spark? The original recoveries from twrp.me don't work on oreo.
Try using these recoveries:
Codeworkx: https://sourceforge.net/projects/cheeseburgerdumplings/files/15.1/cheeseburger/recovery/
Blue spark: https://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/dl/?id=28224

It worked Thanks ! I flashed codeworkx and all went fine : data is mounted at every boot, encryption unlock in recovery, flashing and restore.
I should have waited to flash oreo but this rom is the first to get me out of my bootloop hell so I'll stick with it for now.
Thanks again !
No problem Glad to see your issue got fixed.

[Help] TWRP can't install stock rom and lost encryption. Phone no OS installed.

I was on beta 3 and decided to flash a new version of OOS. I flashed 9.0.11 -> reflashed TWRP and magisk but when I rebooted, it went straight back to TWRP.
I had to switch to a different slot and the phone booted to OOS beta 3 again. Tried to flash 9.0.11 and reflashed beta 3 again but the same thing happened.
Then i swiped everything except for USB storage and Internal Storage in TWRP and now the phone is without OS.
I rebooted to TWRP and now TWRP lost the encryption and I can't flash anything anymore.
Does anybody know how to recover from this?
I'm using the official TWRP build.
Dont panic just download a fast boot rom for version 9.0.11 and run it from fastboot using terminal. Then you will need to flash Magisk in order to have root access.

How do you do that using the terminal? I tried following this topic https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6t/how-to/rom-stock-fastboot-roms-oneplus-6t-t3862516 but I got this error

TWRP still can't flash OOS
So I was able to boot the phone up again using MSMdownloadTool but the problem still persist. I was supposed to be at OOS 9.0.11 but upon checking I found out I was still on open beta 3. Tried to flash 9.0.11 via TWRP and the same thing happened. I was on slot B so when I flashed OOS and rebooted, it rebooted to slot A and brought me straight back to TWRP. It won't boot again until I switch back to slot B to boot and slot B was still on open beta 3. Any thoughts?

Flash a patched
Code:
boot.img
when I got the problem, I did that and it worked, booted me to system but if that doesn't work then you have to flash Magisk.

This phone has A/B partitions and is able to store a backup version of the OS so if a new installed version doesn't boot it will revert back to the old one.
When Flashing, you need to flash "BOTH" slots.
If you used the MSM tool to boot, you just booted and not flashed.
The MSM tool will flash your phone, restore the stock recovery and relic the bootloader. It will look like it came out of the box.
I don't know how to get you from wrapped around the axle except to tell you to run the MSM tool and let it wipe the phone and get you back to stock. You can then unlock the BL again and install TWRP, etc if you like.

You are booting into TWRP because you did not format your data partition. When flashing OOS, you need to not only wipe data, but also under the Wipe menu, select format data. It should prompt you to type "yes".

Glad to help. I was sick of having to put the device into Qualcomm mode just to get it to boot up, then I decided to try reformatting data and it worked.

Phone stuck at Decryption unsuccessful :crying:

I am stuck at encryption failed when I flash stock oreo rom. I tried formatting data using twrp and flashed no encryption file as well but nothing works.:crying::crying::crying:
I just want to use the stock oreo rom again with root.
Pls help:crying:
Which ROM did you try and flash / install?
Try upgrading your TWRP to the latest version too.

I used partition dl mode to flash the stock oreo rom over 7.0 to keep the root. Then i flashed custom kernal for stock 8.0 but it didnt work. I have done the same procedure before and it has worked like a charm. But it keeps on giving the encrytion error when i try it now

Odd. If I had to guess anything, it would be that not all the partitions were flashed when going from Nougat to Oreo.
I once flash a Nougat ROM from an Oreo ROM and I had the same encryption issue and lost everything.
That was the last time I would trust myself again and not do a backup.
Flash stock recovery from KDZ through patched LGUP & do a factory reset .
After stock recovery completes the wipe do a battery pull, flash TWRP via fastboot, format data, flash Kernel & Magisk & you should be back on track...

I tried that as well. With stock recovery is says data is corrupted and doesn't do anything. I think it might be a problem with patched lg up because when i use normal lg up to flash oreo it works. But I cant root then.
I would try changing to 3.2.3-4 TWRP and then trying the procedure again. It seems that the 3.3.0 TWRP does not decrypt properly sometimes.
In the same boat as OP

Hi
Looking for a way to keep TWRP and root ... any help appreciated
I've got a US996 with the same issue as the op. I have the latest TWRP 3.3.1-0. The phone was working fine until I upgraded twrp but I might have done a mistake resetting phone outside of twrp.
I can still get back into twrp but I haven't been able to install zip files without getting that decryption unsuccessful message when booting to system.
When getting back into TWRP using hardware buttons sometimes there is a prompt asking "keep system read only?" which I never chose and swipe to allow modification. I think this happens after
I pull the battery after getting the decryption unsuccessful message. There is a reset system that I could chose under the decryption unsuccessful message but I'm assuming that will make me lose twrp
...but if my phone is a us996 and is still
unlocked, would it matter if I did select it? Wouldn't I be able to reinstall twrp using adb again on a computer after Oreo is reinstalled?
To do Prowler_gr's suggestion which guide do I follow (sounds like I should do the second option)
"Flash stock recovery from KDZ through patched LGUP & do a factory reset .
After stock recovery completes the wipe do a battery pull, flash TWRP via fastboot, format data, flash Kernel & Magisk & you should be back on track... "
1-[GUIDE][UNBRICK] Patch LGUP to unlock features & unbrick V20 (Variant mismatch fix) to use lgup
or this guide
2-Ultimate guide to unbrick LG V20(Only Variants with .KDZ)[No OS Firmware Update Loop]
Thank you for any guidance on this...

Don't blame me if this goes wrong but I'm pretty much 100% certain that you mush press the rest button. This has happened to me a few times I'm sure. You won't loose twrp. Whatever resetting goes on in the background I don't think it's an actual Factory Reset.
Edit: Just to be clear you taking about a white screen with I think in dark blue or black text ENCRYPTION UNSUCCESSFUL and something like "reset phone" option directly under it, on the upper half of the screen?
Hi ezzony
Yes you are thinking of the right decryption unsuccessful page. I get it when booting to system
after installing Oreo and magisk 19 and having wiped everything (format data too). I will get the exact wording of it tonight
Thanks!
