Basically what the title says, I currently have the soak test build of 7.1.1 that was posted some time ago, and I want to know if there is an official update yet, I remember some time ago some people said they already received an ota to 7.1.1, but it was only in some countries, is there a global update out yet? My phone is a xt1601 and it is on september 2017 security patch
Beforehand, thanks to everyone
OTA was finally released in the US last month for XT1607. I did it, unfortunately I had to do a factory reset due to some lockup issues I was having, but it's fine now.

I read a lot of things about Nougat 7.1.1 on XT1607. You said it's fine but if it is not much to ask, can you elaborate on battery performance versus Marshmallow,or heat issues, or network issues (with WiFi or configuring APNs), etc.? My mother phone was offered the update but I told her to wait until I gather feedback. So far the only clear advantage would be the security patch level (April 2018.)

In my experience with two unlocked XT1607s the stock Nougat build was a modest refinement over Marshmallow with no (zero) downsides. That may seem nebulous but reflects reality when focused on the big picture. I generally run rooted stock on moto devices (probably own a dozen) and rarely run into significant issues once builds have stabalized. Most reported problems are self-inflicted wounds or purists who would take issue with perfection.

I am having it crash every time it registers on the cell network. Only way to use the phone is in airplane mode.

Sorry it took me so long to reply. Unfortunately, even after I did the reset, the freezing continued. However, after I changed some notification settings and disabled a few apps, it stopped. It hasn't froze in over a week now. Maybe it was just instability immediately following the update.
Otherwise, the battery seems about the same as it was on Marshmallow. No issues with WiFi or data, or overheating. I would still be cautious about updating it, though, unless you have the time to fix any potential issues that may appear.

What is the most recent stock firmware which works on XT1601 AT&T, Telus,Rogers (Canada/US)?
Need full stock for fastboot flashing.
Available for download https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/moto/harpia/official/RETAIL/
I see:
XT1602_HARPIA_RETAIL_7.1.1_NPI26.48-43
XT1602_HARPIA_RETAIL_7.1.1_NPIS26.48-43-2
What is the difference between NPI and NPIS?

You have posted the same basic question in multiple threads w/o response which suggests the answer is unknown. Backup what you have now and try the TWRP flashable build which was current as of June 1st. Good luck.

*WARNING* RE-enable OEM Bootloader Unlocking after Update!!!
Just a heads up and REMINDER to go into Developer Options and turn OEM Unlocking back on after the OTA update because it had turned mine back off after sideloading.
I wish I had my laptop set up so I could remote in from work right now and begin downloading the image.
I take it Root is still working?

I've been thinking off using one of my phones as a hotspot for my laptop...Just not thinking it will be quite fast enough and stable enough to download and get a good MD5. My company watches everything.

Why not just get it over with and UNLOCK it? Once you are unlocked, the state of that checkbox is irrelevant.

If you don't unlock, and leave your bootloader unlocked it can. If you have the check box checked then the bootloader remains locked. So if you get caught with a bad flash or anything else that causes a bootloop there is no way to gain access to the bootloader and run fastboot.
Not off to a great start. I've had my 3rd crash triggered simply by browsing to the reddit nexus 9 board. Now it appears to be on a forced cache erase after the consecutive crashes.
From this we can safely say nobody in Google pays any attention the forum moaning otherwise they might have noticed this issue.
Anyone get an OTA for the LTE version yet? They haven't posted the factory images which scares me a little that LTE might get left behind. The 5.0.2 links went up for both at the same time.

Mine's still running really warm and it's losing power over USB just by being on. I'm watching the battery drain simply from the screen idling on Google Now. Come the **** on Google, heat and battery drain should have been primary concerns.
Edit: Fortunately though, it seems like the entire device is running buttery smooth, which is literally a first on stock Android for me. Even my Nexus 6 hiccups without a custom ROM and that has the S805 and 1 more GB of memory.
Still no OTA for LTE on 5.01 -> 5.02 ...
What the hell is Google doing... firstly releasing almost beta Lollipop that on our Nexus have serious issues.. after waiting and being the last device to be updated still no upgrade to LTE which is more expensive and deserves at least same support.
If our model is left behind, I will surely not buy a Nexus device ever again.

LTE takes time. I wouldn't worry about it. I bet factory images are up within a day or two. I'm an LTE owner too, so I'm in the same boat. I'm just happy it actually started rolling out, as it started to look like it wasn't happening. This is a much bigger update than 5.0.1 -> 5.0.2
Updated this morning. So far so good
So far, it's definitely an improvement on performance but it remains to be seen with this is another cache-wipe factor or something. One of the first-impression fixes is that the light sensor seems to actually work now, while it was almost useless before.
I noticed the stock kernel is now on 2,5GHz high and that both cores are allways on, which i am not sure if it was happening on 5.0.x. I remember Franco noticing it on Nexus 6 5.1 too, so i guess it's a common practice by google to not turn cores off anymore.
Well so far so good. I never had major issues before. OTA side loaded fine. Did a factory reset to set up fresh. Now that everything is set up I'm just waiting for it to charge completely. It did get warm installing and updating everything, but no issues so far. Everything went smoothly.
There's a new apk named 'Who Am I?' That is disabled by default in this update. Turns out it's a widget that literally shows you the time and what your name is. Maybe it's for people with dementia or short term memory.
The way things have been going, most of us might have needed that widget by the time this update got to us if we'd waited much longer.
Hi,
i just received an OTA update:
V10b-Nov-25-2016
Changelog just stated that usability and functionality of the smartphone has been improved.
Has anybody else already received this? Did anybody notice changes?
Kind regards,
BrowsingMan
received, but nothing to report, works exactly as before
Just updated last night. Seems normal
Received it as well last night. There was a bit of instability for the first hour or so. Lagging etc and one automatic reboot, but I'm guessing that was just due to the OS system settling down.
This morning everything seems normal as before.
Any improvement in auto shots with the camera?

Same happened to me. I rebooted a few times which didn't fix it which got me worried, but by the morning it was fine.
I don't mean to derail the thread but is there any custom support for this phone model? I'm mainly only seeing support for the H918. I'd love to root once its available and safe but it seems like this is one of those odd models out that no one really cares about.

Can you guys check/time your fast charge using OEM cable and charger? It doesn't seem to work for me, ot at least not prior to the OTA update on every ocassion. I've had instability issues when the phone gets a little hot/warm, if left in direct sunlight for 15 minutes, etc. I'm going to thoroughly test this out before posting anjy reviews. So far, not impressed with the loudspeaker.
I also don't want to update the phone yet incase the "impending" root solution, if one comes about, happens to be software-version-specific, since we are dealing with a phone on a locked bootloader.

something i have noticed since the update is a huge improvement in reception... now almost all the time it's 4-5 bars for each sim, on lte and 3g, whereas before i used to pick up my phone and see only 1-2 bars... especially at home.
i must specify that i never had a problem calling or browsing even with 1-2 bars, never lost connection during a call, cristal clear voice. so maybe before it was simply showing less bars than it really was? anyway, just my feedback

Hey guys.
I installed the LG PC Bridge and, among other things, I decided to check for a software update. It informed me one was available, which seemed odd, because I had checked yesterday O.T.A. and had found nothing.
Anyway, I disconnected the phone and checked again and true enough the 10b update was available (still found it weird that it said Nov. 25 though) at approx. 730MB, but I decided to reconnect and use Bridge to update.
I began the process and it said the download size was 2.9GB! That's a huge difference. O.T.A. still shows the update at 730MB. Does anyone know if there any differences??

Mine works great before and after update....
Everything looks really good...I think that the problem with keyboard is a little improved....I'm talking about next word suggestion...
Mine has just been updated to 10b as well. So far everything is working great but I've only just starting using the phone so I can't comment on what was fixed over the last release.
Phone is getting warm and battery drops quicker for me. Anyone has the same problem?
Also, please check your Data usage for Google Docs, Slides and Drive. i don't use it but it still has backgroud data running! Do u have same issue?
Just updated to v10d released December 26 Changelog says performance improvement and improvement to home. Screen but I haven't noticed any changed neither I'm speed nor in options
Did you receive the update via PC Bridge or OTA?
in SEA region, we're still stuck with V10c
I bought mine in Philippines, and since the middle of December (more or less) I am with the 10e version, and still trying to realize how many other versions LG needs to release for the phone have a good usability.
Same for the LG G5, that is in the first Nougat version and it's in the box (both).

i got it via OTA and i went straight from v10b to v10d i didnt receive any update for v10c
I received the OTA update V10F-IND-xx about a week ago. Talked about performance improvement. Post the update the battery performance has gone to hell. It would easily pump out about 6 hours SOT which has now dropped to about 4 hours. Also, have noticed slight to medium heating under the power key when using apps that access data over wifi.Unrooted. Anyone know if it's possible to roll back the update without rooting? OR any quick fix to this problem.

It will update itself, stop worrying. Other people have newer security patches because their carriers approved them, Verizon didn't yet. It goes by the carrier the phone was made for, not the carrier you are using it on.

We aren't worrying just wondering why others got the July security patch on the same build number as us and we have the may security patch. And I know it's up to the carrier that sold the phone not my current carrier.

When did the newer one supposedly come out? More than a month ago? Forget about which month it's for, they don't make the October update with the October patch.
There was a pretty major security patch dated September that is supposed to address this "BlueBorne" vulnerability that has been making waves. I'm interested in this patch because apparently Android 7.1.1 brought some sort of issue with bluetooth low power devices on Moto phones (e4, X Play and others are claimed to be effected, making some BLP devices unable to connect or remain connected). Among other things, my son was excited to upgrade from an e2 to this e4, and he's a pretty avid Pokemon player (yes, that game is still around). There's a BT clip accessory to the game that hasn't worked and it turns out is also related to this BLP bug.
Other versions of Moto phones have had updates rolled out that INCLUDE THE SEPTEMBER SECURITY PATCH, and at least one source claims it not only patches the BlueBorne vulnerability, it also fixes whatever was wrong with the BT low power connections. So, I'm very much looking forward to this patch being rolled out and SOON. But that Moto mentioned got the patch today (10/10), which is dated September. It'll probably be a while longer before Verizon rolls out a version for it. I really hope it does soon.
you wont get updates without a verizon sim. im not sure you can manually flash it either without an unlocked bootloader and root. I could be wrong, maybe rsd light?

Yes I can confirm you do not loose GSM I'm using my cricket sim just fine. It was only a security patch. It was like 46 megabytes very small update.
My Verizon E4 (on which I never activated service) got a notification about an update today (new version: NDQS26.69-23-2-3). Judging by this thread, slow rollout is right.

I never received an OTA update notification on two XT1607s (US). Not that it would have done any good as both are bootloader unlocked with a custom recovery (stock recovery and an untouched system partition are two of many prerequisites required to process OTAs). Eventually updated both via TWRP flashable build from this thread. Worked a treat. Encourage reading posts from March 1st forward before deciding your path. Good luck.

Speculation: Moto isn't pushing updates to XT1607s (why would they) leaving the decision to carriers who could care less about unbranded G4P variants. At some point you will probably have to unlock the bootloader and apply updates manually.
Note this does NOT require replacing stock recovery as booting TWRP will get the job done. Or install directly from fastboot (harder with no benefit IMHO).

My main concern is to use a rom that may be potentially dangerous. Still I guess I'll have to do it in the future. Also, I think Moto should have a desktop app so the people can update it painless, but anyway, I agree with you.

Thanks for the kind words.
I wouldn't be too concerned with stock Marshmallow. Overall security profile will be slightly diminished but can be effectively offset through good hygiene: avoid extensive use of public WiFi, surf responsibly, careful with clicks, don't download 'crapware', only use trusted stores, etc. Google Play Services also offers a layer of protection that remains current regardless of ROM status.
Still, should you be worried given all the media drama about the latest exploit impacting tens of millions of devices? Depends on behaviors that are entirely within your control. I sleep well at night regardless of patch status on my varied devices. Update when it is convenient and for refinements in Nougat that may improve your overall productivity and enjoyment.

Also I would like to keep my phone as pristine as possible, and I have a while since I am not messing with roms, my question is what do I need to make this work?
PD: Using the console is not an issue

Lastest upload is from a few months back (NPI26.48.36) and yields the Nov 1st 2017 patch level. Unfortunately, OP does not exercise any form of formal change control; you'd have to read through the thread to know there were updates. On that note you can read through this thread again and the linked thread (especially from March 1st forward) to gain confidence the upload is legit.
Bigger issue is getting over the pristine hurdle. You will need to unlock the bootloader which immediately voids the warranty and yields an ugly boot screen (which can be remedied). You'll then need to learn TWRP which isn't difficult but not geared toward the average Facebook user. You probably will NOT have to root either the old or new ROM. If any of that feels significantly uncomfortable then the wiser path may status-quo. There are tens of millions of mobiles running Lollipop, KitKat and older ROMs that date back three or more years. The version of Android on you two G4Ps isn't nearly as outdated as you might think.

Thanks again, can't see any reason to rush myself into nougat, anyway is a matter of development and marketing; that we'll see more candies in the near future (not for this smartphone) it's kinda sad we are obliged to buy a new smartphone if you want the security patches, even if it's a very expensive one, but even worse is the incompetence of Lenovo sharing an update through OTA.
Just received VS9951BA update from Verizon, April 17th. Was really hoping it was Oero, but turned out to be just security update. April 1st 2018 Security

Thanks for letting us know
I am using h990ds and i haven't got any update after september 2017!
Taiwan variant H990DS im still on NOV security patch.
Can it be rolled back like the previous updates for root purposes?
Is anyone else getting severe battery drain after this update? My phone's been running hot ever since, and nothing (no single app) appears to be the culprit when I dig into Settings.

My VS995 upgraded to 1BA a couple of days ago and it hasn't caused any problems. You can boot into safe mode and check if the problem persists there.

Yes you can downgrade from 1B to 12a or 13a.

Yes!!! My phone has less than half the battery life now. I've done battery historian and every battery app I can find and it always shows up as Unaccounted battery usage. It's got to be this security patch.
Did a google search for the same issues found this thread. I'm having the same problems with rapid batter discharge and unstable apps after the "Security" update.

Well I cannot downgrade from 1B to 12a. I've used LGUP. Am I missing something?
