Since substratum offers an addon to theme stock oreo devices can anyone confirm that it actually works on the p10 lite? I understand that huawei has their own theme engine however theres far more options within substratum

If you want the animation it's impossible. In EMUI 5 you can try a substratum theme or a theme for EMUI, there are plenty of them.
Get EMUI editor from play store.

Huawei nova plus mla-l03 substratum
Every time I apply theme it's sucsesfull but upon reboot there is no theme. I know huawei themes have issues but what about substratum
I don't think stock emui support substratum. Anyway, you should clarify this with substratum team at G+
So I unlocked my phone, installed twrp and rooted it. Now I can't apply themes from Huawei nor substratum. When i click apply nothing happens and the stock theme remains. Any suggestions?

I specifically want the theme with the blue headers and all.
I tried Huawei Theme Editor but didn't find much luck.
I want to use specific substratum theme with one specific settings for OMS devices. Will it work on stock Xiaomi mi A1 with oreo 8.1?
I mean I want to change quicksettings icons with a theme but here is a text in substartum that this option is only for OMS Android System
