In-call headphone and headset volume too loud - Xiaomi Redmi 3s Questions & Answers

I have tried several roms. AEX woivod 8.1, crdroid difr 8.1, frankenROM 8.1 etc. The in-call volume is very very loud in headset and headphones. Increased the steps but that didnt bring down the minimal volume which is way too high. I tried jasper custom kernal and decreased the headphone gain in sound but that brought down the media gain and the ringing gain levels. It does not get solved by clean flash or even after full internal storage wipe. This is present throughout all custom roms I think. Someone suggested editing mixer_* files in /system/vendor/etc. There are too many of these files and I dont know which values to edit to lower in-call volume.
SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!!!!:crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying:

Someone please help!!!!! I did a recovery to my original miui backup but the problem is still there. I dont mind losing data. Im willing to do any type of clean install to solve this. I just want this bug to go away. Should I change the firmware?
What should I do?
PLEASE HELP!!!

Facing this problem too. I've tried patch as well as editing values in vendor. None seems to work.
So i just have to avoid talking on headphones as of now.

Have you tried stable Nougat ROMS? I would like to know if the problem is there in nougat or not. Is there no other way to solve this?

try out difr's patch and see if it works (its for 8.1 oreo ROMs)
mixer_paths.xml.zip

I tried it bro..... No use....I even tried it on his crdroid build... Thank you so much for responding.

Hey ShadeOfLight,
I have the same problem with too high headset in-call-volume in havoc rom.
Thats pretty annoying...
But I found a solution for the problem that worked for me:
You need tasker and Kernel Auditor for this.
In Kernel Auditor you create two profiles: One with low volume in sound option for calls (I choose value -8) and one with normal volume (value 0) for music.
Now save them under different names. I named them "low volume" and "normal volume".
In Tasker you create two tasks with the Kernel Auditor plugin:
1. "low volume"-Kernel Auditor profile
2. wait (10s) -> "normal volume"
Now go to "profiles" in tasker and create a new profile with the state "Call" (choose any) under phone states.
Define "low volume"-task for the new profil and the "normal volume"-task as exit-task.
This worked for me. During calls I can use my headset again and can listen to music normally.
Maybe this will work for you too.
Best regards

i saw a lot people having a lot of small problems i think when they try to move to 5.x !
so in this thread i'll be typing the problems that i saw ....and you can type your problems to help you with it and other members to share what they have got
1-p:i flashed latest tangerine kernel v2.3 but my base-band is gone....
fixed
2-p:i flashed the x.x ROM and now i have cyanogen recovery ...and i can't flash tangerine kernel from it and i want(twrp-philz)
solution: don't worry just flash the tangerine.elf via fastboot on your phone and everything is good to go !! you can search for flashing via fastboot and if you can't understand i'm here to help
method2: thanks for @OsGhaly for uploading TWRP & PhilZ imgs .....just flash them with rasher if you want or any app that can do that to download them here (download philz from here )
p.s: try after you flash the ROM to flash the t-kernel so you don't get in this problem again
3-p:i wanna try RRM2P and i want a transparent bar ( too old to flash this ROM )
solution:method 1 thanks to @Dark Passenger there is a toggle in setting --> performance--> enable high end gfx reboot ......................method2: thanks to i don't how !! he give a line to add in build.prop ....how to add this line in build.prop? ,it's easy just install kernel auditor open it, swipe the screen to right, choose edit build.prop and type (persist.sys.force_highendgfx) this in the first line
and (true) in the second line and reboot and enjoy
4-p: i tried the RRM2 and when i exit from recovery and press install su i reboot and i still got no root access ( too old to flash this ROM )
solution: just Google for latest su.zip for lollipop and flash it (i had this problem and it worked with flashing the su.zip) :silly:
5-p: you have touch issues ?
solution:you can try the "Glove Xperia" in case u have touch issues it's available on google play
6-p: i'm facing lagg in some apps after using the ROM for 2-3 days...what should i do?
solution:you can install greenify and greenify apps and system apps too this will help.....if your 5.1.1 support t-kernel(actually all of them support the t-kernel "just the dirty unicorns don's support it!!") you can flash the t-kernel and install app that can modify your cpu settings (like kernel auditor) and edit your cpu settings to get the best out of the phone and to put what suits you .
7-p:the sound on lollipop sound a little bit low what can i do
solution:just flash t-kernel ,,install kernel auditor,,open it,,,swipe the screen to the right,,choose the sound option and increase your speaker gain to (4-6) and you are good to go
method 2: flash viper4android i think for now all 5.1 ROMs are working with viper4android
8-p: i have problem with voice in calls so what should i do?
solution: simply just try to flash the call fix from here and you're good to go(remember flash 5.1 fix for 5.1 ...5.0 fix for 5.0 )
9-p: i don't have a root accesses after flashing the ROM
solution:go to settings>about phone>tap build number like 8-10 times>>go back to settings>> enter devs option >find the root accesses option and put it to apps and adb
10-p:my phone can't go in deep sleep ?!
disable play services location and wake up settings and see what are the apps causing this ...cuz it's absolutely an app action that is preventing phone from getting into deep sleep\try blocking apps that uses play services for location.....
11-p:the adway app is not working anymore
go to system/etc via root explorer....and delete all the files named(host.something) and only keep hosts...re-run the app and activate it and then reboot and you are good to go :fingers-crossed:
12-p: i can't put a lock screen wallpaper on 5.x ROMs?!
just download this app and you will have the ability to change it
13-p: phone laggs alot when taking a phone call on AICP ROM(you can try this on other 5.1 ROMs)
Turn on your heads up notify on and set time tot max.
GO:
-Settings
-AICP Extras
- Heads up notifications (Turn it on)
- and in Time Out set the max (never)
14-p:the FM transmitter have a small range without the headphones and i can't use the app when i plugged it in
Take your standard headphones or whatever you call it and plug it into the 3.5 mm jack halfway so that the phone doesn't recognize the headphones Then transmitter range will be better for sure
15-p: i don't know how to install the xposed on my phone (credits go to @prangr8 )
Download xposed-sdk22-arm-2015.zip from here!
16-p: my phone in a bootloop and in the recovery can't wipe anything and even if i flashed a ROM that didn't help ..recovery can't mount data and i'm stuck at that point
simply wipe everything (even if it says error) then flash this recoveries_SP_4.4.1_signed.zip - 10.62 MB (thanks to @dssmex ) via your recovery and then reboot It will say no OS installed, are you sure you want to reboot?
Still reboot. If it wants to install supersu let it install and then reboot and go to recovery and re-flash the ROM it will work,,,,(thanks to @prangr8 )
tip-1: you want the xperia experience on your 5.x ROM ?
just go here and flash what you need.....for new music app(the update of the walkman) and other update of xperia apps go here ...for xperia home install this as normal apk....

- Latest Xperia Keyboard v. 6.7.A.0.10 Download (Flash ZIP file or download the APK file and install it as normal APK)
(thanks to @OsGhaly for the searching and links )
- xperia camera here
tip-2:you want leds colors work on your 5.x ROM with music ?
you can try this ..just download the version for the lollipop ROMs
tip-3:do i need to use t-kernel ?

Hi please dont promote this method there is a toggle in setting --> performance--> enable high end gfx (still need to reboot)
Please use that thnx.
Need solution for these problems...
1) Tried almost 3-4 Lollipop ROMS...But in all ROMS,after installing RAM consuming apps like FB , Messenger , Whatsapp etc..the phone is too much laggy...When an incoming call comes, the ringtone starts ringing, but the dialer opens only after 5-10 seconds..this is too much irritating..I have to wait till the name of the caller comes but the ringtone starts ringing before itself.....I know this problem is due to over consumption of RAM,but looking for an way to get away from this problem
2) Next important one is audio... In all the lollipop roms, the sound of the loudspeaker sounds like a third class chinese phone..too much noise and no clarity at all..Need an immediate solution for this audio problem. (already tried the sound settings in kernel adiutor like u said in the main post but still too much of noise)

1- like i said in the op the greenify app will help to reduce the consumption of RAM (try to greenify FB and messenger) and put cpu settings to smartassv2 that will be good ....and by the way i only had this problem when i installed RRM2 ..just in the first day but after greenify and kernel auditor nothing happened to me (on vanir and cm12.1 i didn't face like this problem)
2- this is the only way i think to make the volume up ....but i really didn't get noise on my phone ...you put it between 4-6 right? cuz higher that than that music will be noisy for sure
good luck :good:

that's right but faux sound is more safe than the viper4android cuz you can't make sure it won't give you a bootloop on all the ROMs but faux sound can run on all of them cuz it's a kernel customization
This doubt is not regarding Lollipop..This is a general doubt...
During over RAM usage, some apps are automatically closed right..? But still however less the Free RAM is,some system apps are never closed.
I want messenger to never be closed at any situation. What should I do..?

How to improve the phone's headset volume?

Hey, my H7 is rooted, and running Emui 4.0 (B320).
I love the phone but i think the sound volume is just too low. I've download Xtreme music package as long as viper4android, but the volume is still too low.
I've try to modify mixer_paths.xml, like i did with my galaxys, but i can't find it with root browser on this phone.
I've tried to modify local_prop in CUST/hw/Eu/prop to remove the volume limitation but there is not the line ro.config.hw.security_volume as it is on other phones. (tutorial for other phones including this technique here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2531673 )
There is no codec folder either, so i can't try the solution by removing it.
There is an Audio folder tho, under system/etc/ and within it, there are a dozen of folder, and one called Hi6402 containing a lot of mixer_paths files like CARRERA DAVINCE GRACE etc, and a lot of mixer_volumes files with the same name. Both have a default version.
There is no line allowing to modify the volume in the mixer_paths.xml file, but there are plenty in the mixer volume one. Could this be it? I don't know what to change, as all the others file have this lines too, and there are plenty of them.
Thanks for the help.
There is a file with a volume security in HW_OEM/PROP, but changing the values didnt change a thing. I'm doing further investigations.
Dude, you're going to break your ears![emoji14]I don't know about managing maximum volume but quick question : you successfully installed Viper4Android?? Last time I tried, drivers won't install correctly and nothing changed when I activated equalizers..
Envoyé de mon PLK-L01 en utilisant Tapatalk
Haha don't worry i'm used to it. Did you instal busybox and/or selinux? They are both needed for the application to work.
Try to download a different version of the application if you still can't install drivers, and check if you are properly rooted.
I couldn't get V4A working either.. Can you tell how it is done? I'm on B320 rooted and busybox installed. I downloaded and installed the Marshmallow-version of the V4A. Do I have to enable it somehow in honor's audio settings because there seems not to be a place where i can choose what audio effect to use? I have also tried several audio players, but does it matter which to use? Driver status says "abnormal" so that's probably the problem..?

Voume boost!

Hi all,
does anyone know how to boost in call volume and volume on headphones...?
Hello
you can install dolby atmos or viper4android they do the job
did you manage to enable and work viper4android ? how? i manage to install it but it does not work , put selinux to Permissive and install it from inside system/priv-app
Dolby Atmos f**ks up notification/media volume it cannot be lowered down and Viper4Android just does not want to work...
I have Viper4Android on my P9 Lite and it works just fine.
Cannot tell you why it won't for you though.
All I did was install it and of course put SELinux on permissive with the SELinuxModeChanger.

That happened to me too.
You can try to disable the equalizer and amplifier of your usual media player. Than go to Viper and in the 3 dots (top right corner) go to - Lock effect mode - just choose whatever you want.
I think that switching from Headset to Phone Speaker (with diferent presets ) you have to go again to "Lock effect Mode" and choose it.
It worked for me. Hope this could help you.

[GUIDE] Fix Bluetooth Audio A2DP & aptX in any GSI ROM

This tutorial was made by Craftingmod
Thanks so much for helping us.
Original Post: HERE
--------------------------
Note:tested only on GSI ROMs 9.0
1. Bluetooth audio connection fix
Backup the file /vendor/overlay/BluetoothResCommon.apk
Simply remove /vendor/overlay/BluetoothResCommon.apk via root explorer
2. aptX HD
Install "Bluetooth stack audio bitrate changer for SBC + aptX & aptX-HD enabler" from Download of Magisk Manager or Download Here (APTX for Android Oreo & Pie NOT WORK)
3. build.prop
Open /vendor/build.prop and find "persist.vendor.bt.a2dp_offload_cap=sbc-aac" and replace "sbc-aac" to "sbc-aac-aptx-aptXHD" (Add -aptx-aptXHD)
Note: if you don't find the add "persist.vendor.bt.a2dp_offload_cap=sbc-aac-aptx-aptXHD"
4. Restart device and test
Note: if it doesn't work undo everything you did thanks for trying
Hello my magisk cannot seem to find the module you were referring to. Do you have another link where i can download the module?

Thanks :good: . I actually did look at the thread before, but had the impression that the GSI Treble roms were of the ASOP variant, contrary to the note: 'NOTE: This works only on CAF based custom roms. It doesn't work on AOSP.'
Am I wrong, or is it the note that does not apply in this case?
it looks like not both ways aren't working for 9.0 Havoc.
we need better solutions.
I tried these solutions on the Lenovo Z5 pro GT, but the Phone won't recognise any bluetooth IEM's. The sound keeps playing over the speaker. Does anyone have a solution?
When I change vendor to r/w it goes back to file system read only and I can't save the build.prop file afterwards
If someone was able to make it work can you please show me the build.prop permissions!!
this ROM is awesome. but there's a problem. my BT headphone no sound.
in developer options, "disable bluetooth A2DP hardware" can't be turned off. any solution?
And for xiaomi devices?
What is the apk that I have to delete if my device had miui?
in all the GSI images i installed audio BT is not working.
And BluetoothResCommon.apk is not in that path, why ?
build.prop is there but there is no "persist.vendor.bt.a2dp_offload_cap=sbc-aac-aptx-aptXHD" entry
Any help to fix bluetooth for this case ? I can pair, to headphones connect, for a moment seems to work, but finally audio get played in the phone itself.

I have found a method of Teclast P20HD to unlock bootloader which can be found in "https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/help/teclast-p20hd-android-10-tablet-4g-t4141997" and "https://forum.hovatek.com/thread-32287.html", but I'm not sure if...

Thanks so much for helping us.

--------------------------
Note:tested only on GSI ROMs 9.0
1. Bluetooth audio connection fix
Backup the file /vendor/overlay/BluetoothResCommon.apk
Simply remove /vendor/overlay/BluetoothResCommon.apk via root explorer
2. aptX HD
Install "Bluetooth stack audio bitrate changer for SBC + aptX & aptX-HD enabler" from Download of Magisk Manager or Download Here (APTX for Android Oreo & Pie NOT WORK)
3. build.prop
Open /vendor/build.prop and find "persist.vendor.bt.a2dp_offload_cap=sbc-aac" and replace "sbc-aac" to "sbc-aac-aptx-aptXHD" (Add -aptx-aptXHD)
Note: if you don't find the add "persist.vendor.bt.a2dp_offload_cap=sbc-aac-aptx-aptXHD"
4. Restart device and test
Note: if it doesn't work undo everything you did thanks for trying

Thanks, but editing /vendor/build.prop reaquires writing onto /vendor, so what are the apps to offer rw for /vendor?

It can be done with root or in TWRP.
But now most phones have aptx-aptXHD support in original firmware, so there's a high possibility you don't need this step. By the way, it is not worth it to fix A2DP though, cause for now it's almost not possible (at lease I didn't solution) to fix bluetooth in call and A2DP offload at the same time. For me bluetooth in call is more important, and there's actually no side effect to turn off A2DP offload as far as I understand.
Anyways, to make bluetooth in call and Aptx (of course others like LDAC) both work, you'll need to:
1. remove /vendor/overlay/BluetoothResCommon.apk (if presented) (if presented and deleted, do a factory reset)
2. remove /vendor/etc/a2dp_audio_policy_configuration.xml
3. Enable "Force-disable A2DP offload" in phh settings
4. Enable "use alternate audio policy" in phh settings if your volume adjustment have any problems (if you got multi ones in different feature category, try different combination until it behave normally)(may require reboot)
5. flash Magisk module "aptx-HD-magisk-10_arm.arm64.zip" to fix aptx support
Now both sbc-aac-aptx-aptXHD-LDAC and bluetooth in call should work. Tested on 2 Qualcomm setups recently with phh android 12 based rom.
Hope this could help you and others having same issues.

And for xiaomi devices?
What is the apk that I have to delete if my device had miui?

Tho Xiaomi's MIUI really modified the whole aosp crazyly, but the device itself is still treble-compactible
the file is called MIUIbluetoothres.apk(probably,on miui 12.5's vendor)
BUT you dont need to del it.
To Fix: TURN ON "force disable a2dp offload" in phh treble settings.
that's it.(worked on redmi 10a.(MTK))
(ps: actually aptx is a qcom thing so it probably wont work on mtk devices.)

[GUIDE] Fix Bluetooth Audio & aptX & Bluetooth in call in GSI ROM

***This should NOT be needed anymore, since A13 builds have fix this. ***Tested on 2 Qualcomm devices with phh android 12 based gsi.For now, I can't enable A2DP and fix Bluetooth in call at the same time. Feel free to tell me if you find a way.
------------------------------------------------
This guide provide workarounds for many Bluetooth problems, such as:
1. Can't open Bluetooth
2. Can't connect to Bluetooth devices
3. Can't use Bluetooth audio
4. Can't use Bluetooth in call
------------------------------------------------
After finished the following steps, your device will have both Bluetooth audio (SBC, AAC, Aptx, AptxHD ,LDAC) and Bluetooth in call working.
1. remove /vendor/overlay/BluetoothResCommon.apk (if presented) (if presented and deleted, wipe Data and reinstall your gsi in case it didn't take effect)
2. remove /vendor/etc/a2dp_audio_policy_configuration.xml
3. Enable "Force-disable A2DP offload" in phh settings
4. Enable "use alternate audio policy" in phh settings if you face any problem in sound and/or volume adjustment (if you got multi ones in different feature category, try different combination until it behave normally)(may require reboot)
5. flash Magisk module "aptx-HD-magisk-10_arm.arm64.zip" to fix aptx support
Now everything mentioned above should work.
------------------------------------------------
Thanks multiwirth for providing the Magisk module. Original post : https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...oid-12-11-10-9-8-lineageos-18-1-19-0.4081693/

The information you give is not enough for me to solve your problem.
However always make sure you have permissions when modifying those system partitions.
i didn't found /vendor/overlay/BluetoothResCommon.apk in my device (vince)

This guide is for phh's Gsi.
My Bluetooth keeps on disconnecting. How do I fix this. So like if the song pause or buffers it just disconnects 50% of the time and it's annoying so if there's any way I can fix this...
