I've got a strange issue on my LG G6 with both the media and bluetooth volume periodically resetting.
I keep normal media volume at 0 and bluetooth volume maxed out. However periodically my phone will reset so that the media volume is maxed and bluetooth is at 50%. I've been trying to debug it messing with settings and removing apps, but so far with no luck.
Some details:
The reset occurs abruptly with the volume jumping from 0->max (media) and from max->50% (bluetooth). It is not a gradual change like something accidentally hitting the volume buttons.
They both change at the same time, usually when receiving a text message or unlocking the phone. The switch appears to be triggered by some app/setting while the phone is asleep and then it actually takes affect when something else (message/unlock) wakes the phone. Note that it doesn't change on every text or unlock.
The issue happens a couple of times per day (2-4ish) that I notice. There is no obvious association with anything like alarms going off or notifications appearing.
The change occurs both when something is actually playing (spotify, pocketcasts, youtube) or when nothing is playing. No obvious association with any specific media or media app's activity.
Any ideas for what might be causing it? Or tips for debugging it? The only thing I haven't done is hooked up the USB and tried to dig through logcat to find the issue, mainly because I'm not sure what to look for...

My volume keeps getting set to silent. As a result, I get no notifications of anything going on with my phone.
A little background first:
This is my second HD2. I returned my first but decided I really liked this phone after all.
I do NOT have BsB tweaks installed. I think there is an option to kill ringer based on calendar with this app.
I installed PocketShield thinking it would lock the screen when placed in my pocket. The thought was that the volume rocker was getting hit before it locked if I forgot to manually lock the phone. Didn’t resolve my issue.
Last night I installed VolumeX. This allowed me to remap my volume rocker buttons. At least now I know it’s not the volume rocker getting bumped.
So this morning on my drive into work it happened again. I checked the phone before I left and it was in vibrate. When I got to work it was in silent. The only thing that happened on the drive was that it attached to my car Bluetooth. But I’ve had this happen on multiple occasions without the Bluetooth piece.
Any thoughts on why this might be happening or things to check would be appreciated.
You aren't hitting vibrate then setting the phone down immediately on it's face are you? I've found that setting it on it's face before it's locked launches things...
I do believe it's the bluetooth that'll be doing that. Connecting and disconnecting bluetooth headsets and car kits changes the sound profile - annoys me too, but I'm pretty sure it's standard for WinMosince my Omnia and Titan did the same thing IIRC.
Hi,
I have recently encountered a wired problem. Searched for web for similar issues, seen few same issue, but differ a bit.
I recently was surprised that phone stopped ringing or sound an sms alert or any other app alert such as WhatApp.
I tried to change the sound in sound settings for SMS, Whatsapp, Calls and Handcent app. All of which, didn't do any sound at all. When I select another sound within the apps, nothing is played. Some of them, played a standard beep instead.
I realized also that the alarm had a problem. It simply didn't sound at all at morning and therefore I was late to work that day :-(
anyways, I read on the net, few said, remove the battery for few seconds, did so, and helped, but problem comes up again. So I decided not to remove the battery anymore as it is a temp. solution only.
Some said, in Applicatoin settings, Sound Sets, clear data. Did that, and sometimes helps other doesn't. So another temp. solution.
Sometimes when it happens, I keep trying selecting different sounds, open different apps, changing their notification sounds, and suddenly, I can hear something when changing notification sound, then I know it is back again.
Now it has been happening for around 10 days, and didn't figure it out. I might need to do a hard-reset, but prefer not to as I hate installing all the apps (lots) I have installed and doing all the settings again. It takes long time. So I need another solution.
Something is strange, I am almost sure its not a faulty hardware, but maybe an app that interfere with something.
Anybody experienced such thing?
Okay guys so I have a Moto X and an HTC Stereoclip.
Upon first pairing everything is fine and dandy. Volume levels are as expected. Once I disconnect when I get to the parking lot at work and reconnect when I get inside work the volume is SUUUUUUPER LOW!!! The only way to fix this is to go to my bluetooth settings on my phone and "forget" the HTC Stereoclip. On the initial pairing everything is okay again. There is no way I'm going to keep re-pairing it the long way each time I want to use the stereoclip.
The problem is with the phone though. As I have a Galaxy Note 3 that I use with the stereoclip as well but it has no volume issues pairing and re-pairing.
Do I have a bad unit?
I've noticed on mine, occasionally, the volume will be super low when I get back in my car. As soon as the song changes, or any other notification sound happens, the volume immediately jumps back to where it was (full). I haven't figured out exactly how to reproduce the issue, but since it only happens very rarely, I haven't spent much time on it.
Had the same thing sometimes on my Note 2. I'm guessing it's a bug, but I'm not sure what causes it, nor have I ever been in a position to really troubleshoot it when it happens. By the time I could troubleshoot, I forget about it.
So this has happened maybe 3 times now. I did apply the latest OTA and did a hard reset so everything is fresh. I have had this phone lock up on a few occasions now. Last week I had the hardware keys quit responding. The power button and one of the volume rockers just didn't work. I had to download an app from the play store to get the reboot menu to pop up so I could reboot it. Keys were fine after reboot. The few times it has locked up, the phone makes a loud steady buzzer sound then will reboot and everything is fine. The screen will freeze along with the buzzing sound for maybe 10 seconds before rebooting itself. One time I was playing a game, the other was on an incoming wi-fi call it just locked up both times it played the buzzing sound through the speaker and did reboot itself. Starting to think it may be a hardware problem with maybe the PBA board. Only other thing I can think that might be messing it up, I do use adgaurd as a local VPN on this device.
Anyone else have such issues? I don't want to send it into Samsung just to have them tell me everything is fine if it's a software problem causing it. I have already hard reset so at this point I guess I could try to disable adgaurd to see if that helps. Anyone else have any similar problems with this phone?
Hey all--
I've been unsuccessfully trying to troubleshoot this for a week or two to no avail, so I thought I'd reach out.
My phone ringtone no longer plays when I receive phone calls. Volume is up, no DoNotDisturb or silence settings on, and EVERY OTHER SOUND works just fine (e.g. app notifications, music/video, etc). If I go to my ringtone settings and try to select ANY option, NO audio plays for anything. However, I DO hear audio when trying to choose a new notification sound. Just nothing on the ringtone.
I acknowledge it may be due to some app I've installed recently, but I can't seem to trace it back to any one in particular. Next step is a full reset, which I'd prefer not to do... Anyone experienced this?

I've dealt with a few ringtone-related issues in the past, but not a prolonged one like you are describing.
Try this:
1. Clear all recent (open) Apps using the recent Apps button.
2. reboot: turn your phone off, and back on
3. do the Apps drawer>Device Help>Fix>Hardware Test>Speaker Test (even if you hear it, answer " no" and leave it marked as if the hardware test failed, continue to operate your phone full-time with this marked as fail)
4. Go to select your ringtone, tap once on desired ringtone and give it about 3 seconds, then tap a second time on same ringtone and it should play at normal volume. Press ok. ringtone should be working...If not, reboot phone and try #3. speaker test again.
DUDE. I don't really understand how, but that totally worked (first time on step 4, too)! You are a scholar and a gentleman, and I send you many real (and one digital) thanks. ???
