Before I go to sleep, I plug my phone into my charger and hit the sack. After ~1-2 minutes without touching it, my phone's screen lights up mysteriously. It does not unlock or do anything special, the screen just turns on. Not a problem right? Just wait ten 10 seconds and the screen will turn back off? NOPE. That sumofabitch stays on forever and the screen does not go back off until I click the side button to do so.
How can I correct this?
Seems to be a little delay between you plugging your charger in and the phone lighting up to show you have put it on charge. As for the screen not going off. Check your sleep setting it maybe a few minutes.
I could not find the sleep setting?
Are there any other suggestions or inputs?
You have to turn on the Developer options to disable this feature.
To do this:
1. Go to settings -> About Phone
2. Scroll down to the bottom where you see "Build Number"
3. Tap the Build Number button 7 times.
This will activate Developer options in your settings. There is an option in there to disable the screen staying on while charging.
That box is unchecked.
I think another issue that correlates with this is when I unplug my phone. When I remove it from the charger in the morning, my phone will still say "Charging" for an hour or so after I unplugged it and used it.
Are you using stock rom and kernel?
Happens to me when I use a regular car charger, which I think it may be defective (the connector part)
Yeah from the sound of it your connector is loose, so randomly your phone will think it has been disconnected and reconnected to the charger. Changing your USB cable should fix it.

Also try changing daydream settings? If you go into display settings, there is a sleep setting.. What is that set to?
Hi everyone,
i had the same problem with my S2, but is there any way to keep the screen from turning on when the battery is fully charged? I understand it's a "feature" to make me unplug the charger, but it's really annoying when the screen turns on in the middle of the night. So far i've been placing the phone face down, so it won't wake me up, but that's not really the solution i'm looking for.

It does turn back off in a few seconds (after the screen times out), right?
Honestly not sure how this little light can wake you up
In any case, did you try some of the apps for the older galaxies, like Battery Silencer?
Another suggestion would be to turn on for the night the Blocking Mode in settings , and configure it to suppress notifications.

In developer options you need to turn off "always awake" or the phone "wakes up" when it has charged.
If you can't see developer options in settings / other, tap build number 7 times and it will appear
Thanks for the quick replies.

My sleep isn't very deep unfortunately... Yeah it dows turn back off after a few seconds, but it still wakes me up.
As far as I understood, those silencer apps and the blocking mode only supress the sound of the notification or do they also keep the screen from turning on?

The "always awake" option is already unticked, but the screen still keeps turning on for the timout period

I have that turned off on my phone, and it still wakes up for a few seconds when it's fully charged. Wakes up when I plug in the charger, too. Neither one is a big deal to me, though.

Ahhh .... must be a "design feature" then
I leave my phone in the computer room overnight (don't use it as an alarm) so I've not noticed.
I'm getting fed up of the screen turning itself on for things it really doesn't need to - for example:
connecting the charger cable
disconnecting the charger cable
getting to 100 % charged status
connect headphone cable
If I do want the screen back on at those times, I could just press the Home button. Any suggestions on how to stop this annoying functionality as I can't find an option for it?
Andre
I would like to know this as well. As would everyone else who charges it at night, I imagine. (Preferably without the need to root.. But I doubt that's possible.)
Would like to add "When answering call over headset" to that. It keeps muting itself in my pocket because of that every. single. bloody. time!
I normally have the "don't turn screen off while charging" mode enabled, so I can see it when it's on my desktop stand, and just manually turn the screen off with the power button once I don't need it. But the bleeping thing turns itself back on when charge is at 100%, and so it then stays on unless I'm there to turn it off. So I've have had to disable that mode.
There's a perfectly good LED to show me the charging status, why do I need the whole screen to wake too?
Andre
Any ROMs or kernels out there that anyone could suggest which support disabling the annoying screen-wakes on 100% charge, connect-to-charger, disconnect-from-charger, headset insert, etc.?
Andre
For anyone else looking for the same answer, try Wanam's Xposed module (http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/app-wanam-xposed-customize-stock-t2383484) which allows you to disable a number of the more pointless screen-wakes (including 100% charge, and unplugging charger). Hopefully he can fix the remaining ones at some point too.
Requires root of course.

so as you may or may not know or care, "car mode" is not available in the notification pull down and apparently was replaced by "drive mode" or whatever the dumb app name from ATT is. I think the Tmobile/Verizon S5's may have Car Mode though.
who cares right?
well car mode is sort of related to SVoice in that nobody can seem to get the S5 to wakeup from a lock screen/display off using a voice trigger like the Moto X or other older Galaxy phones.
Anyways, I tried to use Tasker to run a "Car mode" task, and the first time I did it, a few days ago, it said "not available on this device"..oh well
But I tried it tonight and for some reason it worked!
Now the phone shows the car mode icon in the notification bar.
Maybe this is a clue of some kind that Svoice voice trigger while locked/display off is somehow achievable?
And a juicy further tidbit:
The blue LED blinks about every 6 seconds while the screen is off. I have tasker enabled and no new notifications in the menu bar.
Isnt the blue-LED blink supposed to be related to voice recording with the screen off?? Is this a clue that the Hexagon low power DSP is listening even though it doesnt work for some reason?
Ive tried to get the phone to wakeup while locked but I cant.

Could you post the steps to the task please?

since I wrote that I've uninstalled tasker for other reasons
the task I made was absolutely bare bones IIRC.
in fact there was no "event"..I got car mode running by making it the "action" or whatever and just running it stand-alone with the arrow
I have Car Mode Ultra and I like it. However, if Bluetooth is on and my phone connects to my car it goes to Samsung's car mode and you can't exit the damn thing while connected to the car. I'm sure this isn't a huge issue, but how do I set this up so the built-in car mode doesn't trigger? I realize Samsung cares only for my safety while in a vehicle, but I don't like being forced.
Besides, if I also set it to recognize my wife's car, then I can't ride as a passenger and use my phone 'cause car mode takes over.
*shakes fist at Samsung*
So how do you escape from car mode and tell it to shut up.
thanks
settings - notification - click on car mode notification to exit car mode.
I put it in car mode using the notification panel icon and once it's in car mode I can no longer pull down the notification panel
try with two fingers or hit the apps button.

2 fingers doesn't do it and.... app button?
If I hit the back button twice it exits car mode, but this is in the house and not actually connected to the car. I seem to recall being very frustrated in the car that I couldn't exit car mode I'll try tomorrow and actually connect it to the car and see if double tapping that back button gets me out. Still kinda ticks me off that I can't just say DON'T START.
I can't test this since my car doesn't have bluetooth (it's 14 years old ), but when you're in car mode, there is a menu in the top right corner (the three vertical dots). Select "settings", then "my cars" and disable both options "Auto open via Bluetooth" and "Auto close via Bluetooth".
I have no idea if that affects the operation of Car Mode Ultra, though, but it should prevent Samsung's car mode from starting at least.

Thanks, I'll give that one a try. It weird because I see options when I turn it on manually through pulling down the notification bar, that I DON'T see when it starts automagically when it connects to the car.... but I'll give your suggestion a try and see if I can disable the darn thing once and for all.
Thanks
I also wanted to permanently disable this on my Note 4 (because you can't get to any other screen other than car mode which is really annoying if you want to give your phone to say, the person in the passenger seat to look something up while on your way somewhere). I discovered that if you do this, it wipes all the data for Car Mode and will not automatically enable the next time your car is paired to your phone over wifi (because using 2 fingers to pull down the shortcut menu DOES NOT WORK in Car Mode!!!)...settings>application manager>all>Car Mode then select force stop, clear data, clear cache, clear defaults. This worked for me. I also cleared the pair for my car, then reset it, and the next time I turned on Bluetooth and my phone paired with my car, Car Mode DID NOT automatically come on! WOOHOO. Soooo annoying (great idea, but not being able to get out of it until the car is turned off, NOT a good idea).
I just run into the same problem. I have a Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 4. For me, the following steps worked:
Go to the Notification Panel and enable car mode; that will launch car mode.
After the Warning, on the main screen where it says, "HI Galaxy", select "MORE" from the upper right corner.
From the menu that opens, select "Settings"
Once on "Settings", go to "My cars".
Turn off the "Auto open via Bluetooth" and, if you want it, "Auto close via Bluetooth".
Also, to be extra sure, remove your car from the registered list. To do this, you tap in the settings of the car listed and in the next screen, you chose "Remove".
