So, its known Lenovo P2 (kuntao) has camera bug when using HAL3 mode with RAW capture, it look like pink lines instead of preview and captured pictures. I fixed this ****, now all HAL3 apps working fine. Google camera mods working including HDR+ mode.

Install it using recovery and test camera apps. I have tested Google camera mod MGC_5.1.018.177624777-41364271.apk (BSG, 2018-07-12) from https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/ . It has working HDR+ mode when choosing Nexus 6P model.

@highwaystar_ru did all the hard work!
i was simply supporting him in trying to find possible proper alternative blobs and checking their content using hex values. while he spend days with IDA to make the original blobs work!
ne never gave up! the results speak for themselves!

I have tried front camera on almost all lighting conditions just to tried what's working and not. I haven't encounter any crash on low lighting (i have tried even in complete dark too) but i have face 1 crash using front camera in outdoor lighting. It just freeze for 1 second and then crash. I have changed some setting in the app.
Look at the hdr+ photo it's just not look like it's from our camera

I went back to MGC_5.1.018.177624777-41364271.apk which is rock stable. in the beta the front camera (selfie camera) was crashing too much in my tests. especially when switching cameras. it's probably an issue with the beta.
now if we had a fix for video camera support for 30fps and 60fps. that would be great. all recordings now are in 24fps. which are smooth and without micro stuttering. even on Open Camera. but Snap Camera (default LineageOS Camera) refuses to take a video recording without 30fps at least.

well in theory. yes. it should be able thanks to @highwaystar_ru
he added the profiles [email protected] 24 fps and [email protected] fps to the video profile to the back camera.
but the rom media profiles xml needs to be adjusted i think. for it to work with snap. for now snap and OpenCamera will record in [email protected] fps.
i haven't tested 4k yet.

I (samsung sensor) used stock RR-Rom camera from your build
I also add this in build.prop

but it ultimately works on stock cam (snap) app
as I understand it, slow mo on google camera not working is a GLOBAL bug for non-google phones.

initial report:
slow motion
at 60fps - i didnt found any changes
at 90fps - when indoors recording, it didnt find any changes but when I stepped outdoors, everything when slow-mo. Pretty odd (??)
at 120fps (SD 480p) - works flawlessly
all stated above was recorded above 40 seconds without crashing or camera hangs. The same with normal video recording too . Great work guys

Take a look at the link in my post above. They claim it works for "almost all Nougat devices".
I got it working on kenzo, which has Snapdragon 650.

The problem is RR doesn't have the camera api2, I asked in another thread if anyone knew of a rom that had it but so far no reply

There aren't ROMs based on Nougat with API2 support, if you use API2 for camera video recording can't work anymore.

Edit we use only hal3 so hdr+ won't be working untill we find a way to fix camera2api
Its work for me, if you use magisk, there is module for camera2api.
I got it to work, just download the Google camera (Snapdragon 600+) apk from this link and install it.
Then, edit or add this to the build prop ( I used ES file explorer) - persist.camera.HAL3.enabled=1
Photos are really good. I leave it on auto HDR+

Experienced the instant FC and editing build.prop fixed that issue. Next issue is recording with back camera makes the app FC. Front facing camera works fine for recording though. When using any other camera app the reverse is true, front camera FC's and back camera works.
I'm on LOS 28/8. Stock camera is bugged so I will continue to use Bacon Camera until a fix comes around.

I got it working on karevns LineageOS 14.1 ROM. But had to edit build.prop to enable HAL3, just a quick fix, but requires root (use MagiskSU for this)

I've installed the camera port as well, the recent one with raw support. But I cannot find raw captured image(setting enabled under experimental option). The hdr+ also seems to have no effect on image quality. I've enabled HAL3.
Rom: RR 5.8.5 by hrafninn, with default kernel.
Edit: I've downloaded another version (GCamera Pro 3.3b) from main thread link, and it works as expected, auto hdr+ and raw support, with hal3 enabled. Some prescribed modifications had to be done on settings.
Settings to modify:
Max Settings:
Buffers size: 28
Total imagereader image count: 52
hdr+ burst frame count: 60
Calculation imagereader image count: PixelXL
hrd+ imagereader image count: 10

For me the Slow Motion Tab causes the camera to crash, I think due to hardware limitations, this happens in any port of the camera app. Also in the port mentioned in the beginning of this thread video recording in normal mode causes a crash.

Camera crashes for video recording on mine too. Additionally, I can't capture panorama or 360 photos with hal3 enabled. Disabling it allows me to capture 360 photo with street view, but gcam crashes.

I tried in Arnova Gcam, and open camera (i set 60 fps, with default bitrate), for both 60 fps dont work
EDIT: In ProShot, there is no 60 fps option available for 1080p
EDIT2: In FreeDCam recording only in 30 fps, but 1080pHFR is available

it turns the camera into a vibrator each time i move the phone too fast while recording/taking pictures, and when you first open the camera. rofl. but i do like the preview mode after flashing this mod. it's much better in gcam now. the preview used to lags without it, now it's smooth, very smooth. that part i hope all rom will implement it. i'd consider a lagging camera preview as a bug. can you provide some details on how you enabled it?

I have a X727 using a Oreo Rom (AEX 5.4) and I've have tried some Gxam Mod apps, mainly Arnova's and miniuser's version. Both are great! And I get a beautiful bokeh/portrait effect with both cameras, rear/front.
Just a little issue. Using Portrait mode with front Camera, if there is much light or directly under Light/Sun, the results is a over exposed image, a lot bright and Burn. Some time I got a little bit orange face. This only happens with Portrait Mode and only with front camera. Using front camera without Portrait mode, I get pretty image, not issue there. Rear camera work perfectly Normal/Portrait mode.
My question is, its a front camera fault? If its a hardware/sensor issue, its ok for me. Any setting to fix this or can use another Gcam app? Already I used a lot of them with same results, so I think could be a some of tweak or play with setting... I don't Know...

I have a X727 using a Oreo Rom (AEX 5.4) and I've have tried some Gxam Mod apps, mainly Arnova's and miniuser's version. Both are great! And I get a beautiful bokeh/portrait effect with both cameras, rear/front.
Just a little issue. Using Portrait mode with front Camera, if there is much light or directly under Light/Sun, the results is a over exposed image, a lot bright and Burn. Some time I got a little bit orange face. This only happens with Portrait Mode and only with front camera. Using front camera without Portrait mode, I get pretty image, not issue there. Rear camera work perfectly Normal/Portrait mode.
My question is, its a front camera fault? If its a hardware/sensor issue, its ok for me. Any setting to fix this or can use another Gcam app? Already I used a lot of them with same results, so I think could be a some of tweak or play with setting... I don't Know...

I'm actually using the same rom and have played around with a few different mods. Did you settle on a favorite? So far my fav has been the Arnova pixelmod2 v6. It balanced features and speed for me (I prefer the pixel/zsl mode speed over the nexus 6 mode).

Ok, Thank. I choose V6 too. Its more stable. About the Pixel/zsl over Nexus 6, I gonna try it!

Personally I use, Arnova's v7beta9: Which is the most up to date and provides " a pixel-like experience (portrait mode, motion photos, etc). Doesn't require a camera fix anymore in some phones"

I installed GoogleCamera-Pixel2Mod-Arnova8G2-V7.7.apk which I think is almost the same but with fixes. Looks like it's working fine. However what settings do you use ? I kept defaults for now.
Which Gcam do you use with x720 and official Lineage 16?
