Hey guys, I've been doing some reading around, and can't find a few answers. I have a 2013 F350, and wanna do a new head unit. My 2 main functions are running Spotify, with the ability to use my phone to control the songs, and integrate the steering wheel controls. I haven't found any head units that after specifically for my truck, so I will probably have to get a universal one. I like the ownice C500, but the steering wheel controls integration is a must for me. I had a nexus 7 in my previous truck, and liked it a lot, just want something that's more OEM looking and more reliable in the Las Vegas heat.

I just put a C500 in my 2007 Nissan Titan and connected up the steering wheel controls. They aren't automatic - you'll have to hunt down the 2 control wires and connect them up, then program the buttons using an app on the head unit. I'm pretty sure that's the case with ANY aftermarket unit. FWIW I added a SIM card from AT&T so I've got 3G (it says 4G, but it's only connecting at 3G on AT&T) so I can stream music and use Nav. Also you won't be able to control Spotify from your phone, rather, you'll do it from the Spotify app on the head unit.
I just installed a joying JY-UO138P4 (https://www.joyingauto.com/joying-l...ouble-din-car-audio-system-with-4gb-32gb.html ) in a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix.
Most things work - I am still working out the steering wheel control wiring with Metra Axxess and Joying - I think this is an issue with Metra identifying the car correctly, I had a similar problem with an older metra unit on a Sony receiver.
One thing that doesn't work is accessing google voice services when I click on the microphone, I get a message 'Cannot reach google at the moment'. I am connected via wifi and can open the Chrome browser and get to google. All other internet access I tested works fine as well.
Does anyone have any suggestions on this?
p.s. I'll probably have other questions on improving the UI - would like a better blue tooth phone client, and something better with the radio.

Search the forum. This has been mentioned several times. Google voice currently doesn't work. Joying is working on it.
A lot of us have questions and remarks on the UI, on a lot of aspects, and on the functionality. Most/some of us are already pushing Joying 2 years for improvements. Some improvements and bug fixes came, others not.
Please help pushing by directly mailing to Joying ([email protected]) about your comments and questions, but don't think you're the first.
You don't mention your issues with the Radio, but if it is about layout: see here.
Those radio mods are made for the Sofia units, but work just as well on your type of PX5. I'm using one of them (and the PX5 models ending on P2 or P4 can use the exact same software)

Thanks for responding, I did find a rom on their site (have the link on my home machine) , not sure it is for these devices, just says for 2gb/4gb 16gb/32gb Octacore, but from the looks of it, it is an AOSP build.
After trying an older 'personal assistant' app AVX Extreme, I found out the google speech to text module is missing. - this thread (https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/android-building/Gu8c8JLMo6w) shows that it is not part of AOSP, so if we can figure out how to get the speech to text module installed, I think it will work.
As for the Radio, it is a layout thing, it is not a bad layout, but I feel it could be better somehow. I'd like to find a launcher that supports the OBD-II input for speed/etc, a nice clock, radio/volume control, and navigation
I see you also have a thread on the 8.0 build so I will follow up on there.

You have a FYT hardware model (models ending on P2 or P4). The firmware you see there is for the QD models which are completely different and completely incompatible with regard to the underlying hardware, drivers, etc.
Hello
i have received the P2 unit and Google voice not working
Some news from Joying about this feature?

Update to the latest firmware. That solves the google voice issue.

Dit you managed to get the steering wheel control wiring with Metra Axxess to work on your Joying? I also need a canbus decoder for the joying i'm planning to buy. Can you recommend the Metra Axxess, and is it difficult to connect the wiring?

Yes- I got it to work, though don't ask how I had multiple back and forths with Metra on it- for some reason the Axxess could not properly detect my car, metro told me the instructions printed and on the pdf could be wrong and I should try ""VOL UP, SEEK UP, BAND, MUTE, VOL UP"" - but that didn't work. At one point I got frustrated working on the car, and reset the Axxess for the 20th+ time, and didn't notice the steering wheel was turned, so i hit the buttons 'upside down' - I am not sure the combination, but once that happened everything is working good.
In my car, two of the buttons overlap - so I have 6 buttons I can assign instead of 8, but the important one (Seek/Volume/Mute) are mapped so I am happy.
I am not using CANBUS on my car, so I can't speak to that, though I am trying to find out if there is any information anywhere on connecting to the build in HUD in my car.
Hi Guys
Just received my Joying unit back from China. I had to send it away as the LCD went blank even though I could still hear sounds. So Joying were kind enough to fix it for me.
However, even though I asked them not to, they went ahead and wiped my unit and upgraded it to Android 6.0 So I basically lost all my apps I had installed. One of which was the Joying Multikey app for the Joying SWC controller.
I've looked on Joying's website and I can no longer see the product for sale let alone the APK file for it
Does anyone have the Multikey app for the SWC? I have managed to download one from the internet but its not find the SWC controller. Is it possible that the SWC doesn't work on Andorid 6.0? If so is there a fix? As I really need a controller for the unit as using the touch buttons isn't a good way to skip tracks
Also as a side question, is there an alternate remote control I can use for this unit?
Back in 2017 I installed the Joying JY-UL124N2 SoFIA in my 2006 Dodge Ram. With lots of help from this forum I was able to get it working the way I wanted......I was able to get "OK Google" to work as it should, along with tweaks so that I could use Tasker and lots of other issues I cannot even remember..... but overall I was happy with it......anyway, moving forward this unit has acquired too many bugs and I do not have time to tinker with it. I would like to replace it with something that will work exactly as if I installed an Android tablet in my dash but also plays AM/FM. My requirements are.......
Volume knob on left
reverse camera input
video input for my front camera
dash cam....USB
RCA output for Kenwood amp
Sub output
DO NOT want DVD/CD
steering wheel control
MUST have working Google Play Store
As I stated, I am not looking to make a hobby out of making one work as it should.........Does such a unit exist?....
Have you looked at the Atoto A6? It seems to meet all your requirements except for the volume knob. It also has dual Bluetooth. Also the unit is not rootable but from what I gather reading and watching videos...it really doesn't need to be. I just purchased one and am going to install it later today. It's on my bench right now. I've been configuring it and am impressed so far.

Thanks. ...I'll check it out. I'd like to know if "ok google" and Google assistant work, does it give turn by turn voice navigation?

Yes sorta....Apparently google changed something and they are using a workaround using the HOUND app. The Atoto has dual bluetooth so you can tether your phone's internet over bluetooth. I will say that google assistant works when you hit the little google microphone and works pretty well. Also voice navigation in Waze works straight away. I literally just got it installed today and am still learning. You can read several threads about Atoto on here.
Hello all,
I'm having trouble finding a solution to this, not sure if this is where to ask but its worth a shot. I have an Intel Airmont Joying head unit, the one with physical buttons. Its running android 8.1 I believe. I use apple carplay through Zlink. I also use joyings universal steering wheel controls add-on since I dont have built in ones (I cant post links yet but google those exact words to find it, its a circle lookin thing) . I'd like to be able to map it to Zlinks controls (siri, left, right, home, etc), but I'm unable to. Under Joyings built in steering wheel controls mapper I can map it to universal play/pause etc for the head unit itself, but when I enter the Zlink control learning they dont work. Any ideas what to do? Apologies if that was confusing, I can clarify if needed. Thanks!
