I Accidentally Locked GSM - LG LS997 - LG V20 Questions & Answers

Hello guys, I have a LS997 and it was unlocked and was useful with my carrier (Telcel) until today.
I accidentally choosed "CDMA+/LTE EVO" on the "Select Preferred options), on settings -> more -> mobile networks -> set Preferred network.
The signal went out and I'm unabled to make calls and use Data (I can receive SMS, and also it detects Telcel on AIDA64). And I'm unabled to enter the "Mobile Networks" menu now.
I had tried the HiddenMenu app, but I get this result:
BTW I have Security Patch February 2018
Can anyone please help me? I think is not a big issue but I'm running out of ideas.

[Q] "Emergency calls only" after RUU downgrade, root, Cyanogen 6.1 install

Hello,
I've just rooted my Legend for the first time. To do this, I downgraded to 1.31 via RUU, then rooted using the Modaco guide.
After the RUU downgrade, I noticed that the phone said "Emergency Calls Only". Being a complete noob, I continued along with the rooting process figuring that the root flash and later mod flash might fix the problem.
After the root, I still had emergency service only. Being excited that the root worked, I went ahead and installer Rom Manager, rebooted into Clockworkmod Recovery and installed Cyanogen 6.1.
Still "emergency calls only".
I looked in Network Operators to see if my provider (Bell Canada) was visible. Sure enough, it was there. I tried to join the mobile network but the device just sits there spinning until it times out. I set the correct APN settings, but of course that didn't help - I basic GSM service doesn't work, let alone 3G.
I then found an app called Secret Settings, which gives access to a bunch of nifty hidden configuration options. I worked my way through each of the preferred network types. None of them worked.
I assume that this has something to do with the radio firmware flashed during the downgrade, although it looked like radio was also flashed during root.
So here I sit with a fancy WiFi-only device that used to be a phone. Can this be fixed? What are my options?
Please help a very technical but new-to-android-modding noob out. Thanks in advance!
Well, I seem to have fixed my own problem. Awesome!
Bell Canada HTC Legend users - if you've downgraded, rooted and are finding you have no service, or emergency only service...
Download "Secret Setting" from the market.
Tap Phone Information
Scroll down to "Set preferred network type"
Select "GSM/CDMA auto (PRL)"
Exit to the home screen
In your phone's Settings menu, select Wireless and Networks
Select Mobile Networks -> Network Operators
Make sure you're connected to Bell
Reboot
Dial *#*#4636#*#* on your Phone, it does the same thing as "Secret Settings" and doesn't require you to install anything.
It's been listed a number of times on the forums. You also don't need to reboot to change to GSM/CDMA auto PRL, although you probably want to select WCDMA only.

No LTE on D802 KK

I have bought second hand G2 and it had already KK installed. Baseband M8974A, kernel 3.4.0
build number KOT49I.D80220a, software version D80220a-HKG-XX. I have rooted it only and everything works fine except I don't have LTE option in network mode. Is there anything I can do enable it? Also, when I use 2G only the signal comes and goes sometimes (I have pretty strong 2G signal so that shouldn't be happening). Please help
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2690848
I have done this:
If anyone of you has root, but LTE/4G is not sticking after root, you can try the following:
-In build.prop change ro.telephony.default_network=9 from 9 to 11!
-Now you got LTE settings in "settings / tethering & networks / mobile networks / network mode" menu.
-Choose the option you want and includes LTE and it sticks after a reboot!
Now I have LTE in option. But somehow managed to silent some system sounds... For example keyboard clicks... Dunno how

N910-S Network Mode

I recently bought an unlocked N910S but I seem to be having some problems with LTE (I live in the US) and can't seem to access the network mode menu in 'more networks' (the option is grayed out).
Some things I've tried:
Added the access point for my provider (Cricket/AT&T)
Booting in safe mode (no changes).
Flashing other regions' stock roms (N910T, N910V, N910T); Odin gets stuck at NAND wrtie start and only N910S stock rom seems to work.
Accessing Network Mode settings through the hidden menu (can get LTE if LTE17 or LTE All is selected but can't make or receive any calls).
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.

changing the network type on Nougat

Hi all.
I have the A2017. Before Nougat came out, I was using the US firmware (B29).
I was able to change to network type to LTE only using the service menu (*#*#4636#*#*).
Since 7.1.1 came, I began using the Original, Chinese ROM (currently using 7.1.1 B12).
I still have the same service menu, but the phone doesn't respond to any setting I set for the network type. Only when changing in the Dual Sim settings menu it does respond to my settings, but there is no LTE only setting there.
Can someone who uses the US B19 please check if it works for them? If it does, I will try to flash the US ROM.
Thanks.
Changes in that menu only apply to sim 1. If you're trying to edit sim2, then no go. Still works here (for sim1) on a2017u.

So you're using B19? Then I should too. Because I only have one sim, and it doesn't work for me at all.
I hope it's only related to the ROM and not to the modem, as I do have to keep the Chinese modem anyway.
I'm not sure how that menu works on a 2017G. You could try the app from the play store Network Signal Guru. There's an option in there call change RAT settings. That allows you to change network modes too. It does require root.

Now My Verison Is LS99720a pls solve i need to downgrade or purchase to sprint?? My country hav no sprint carrier
Well, you are kinda boned. There is no LS997 KDZ so you can't downgrade, and you can't use the VS995 KDZ since you are ARB 1.
Lesson learned, don't ever take an OTA update -- period -- rooted or not unless you are not rooted, AND you are using a carrier branded phone ON the carrier it was intended for.

I have the same issue. Downloaded the update and now invalid sim. Can't use phone txt or internet etc. Nothing mobile. Is there any fix for this? Who's fault is this? If my phone is now destroyed, can I get somebody to replace it? LG? Android? Phone was sprint. Used with cricket for around a year until this need the other day. Neither carrier knows how to fix. Thanks
I also have an LS997 GSM Unlocked (I bought it like this, not sure how it was done) and it was still unlocked after update to Oreo LS99720a. I didn't update it while it had the sim inside, and I factory reset after Oreo update. Try toggling network mode in settings to LTE/GSM/WCDMA and between CDMA/LTE + EvDO, but keep it on LTE/GSM/WCDMA. If you didn't properly unlock it, this may be the reason. If you can also see the CDMA Subscription option, set it to RUIM/SIM from NV. You could try DFS CDMA Tool 14 to change this if you can access DIAG mode from the hidden menu. I'm thinking the Sprint-TMobile merger (will be T-Mobile) will result in horrible OTA unlocking methods like they do currently instead of SIMCK, NCK, NSCK, or SIMCK. They'll likely rebrand the LS997 to T-Mobile and introduce their OTA unlock.
For now, try this:
Go into the phone dialer and type: 5689#*997#
Go to Field test > Modem Settings >RAT Selection > SELECT: GSM/WCDMA/LTE Auto
If it doesn't work, select LTE/WCDMA, then toggle back to GSM/WCDMA/LTE Auto
If it still doesn't work, remove the sim and try these steps above without the SIM, then retry.
Don't forget to update your APN settings for your carrier.

Carrier Signal show bro ph know carrier too but (invalid sim) still show
Go to the Sprint store (a legit Sprint owned one) and either get a compatible sim or have them fight extra hard to activate the sim you currently have...and idk if your still with Sprint or not...
---------- Post added at 06:12 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:10 PM ----------
Also if you have the receipt you can try and get the sim unlock code from Sprint but since your not in a contract idk if they will give it to you...
Sprint does not have unlock codes. All you have to do is chat with their international division and they'll uicc unlock it for you.
This is important. Ask them to lock it from their end then ask them to unlock it. If your Sprint phone is paid off and clear then they will unlock it for free to use it on TMO or at&t
I've tried they keep saying that the phone is still unlocked on there end
I can't find these items!
Thanks for your reply.
I have the same exact issue. I tried your method to reach the hidden menu. I only have:
- Device Test
- ELT Test
- Factory Reset
- Log Service
Is there something I am missing?
