Guys I read in several tests, that the G6 has a special extra brightness mode that is activated in direct sunlight, if the phone is in auto brightness mode.
are there any plans for a hack that could implement this in manual mode? so you can use this extra brightness whenever you want, and preferably the in between settings?
thx.

Good idea
I get this extra brightness mode without beeing in autobrightness. It is activated using more saturated colors I think, or that is what I see when I am in direct sunlight. You will percive it better in whatsapp and if you want to know if it is working just cover the top of the phone with the hand.

yes, install Shortcut master, three dots on the right and click "app explorer", then a list of the apps will show, search for Hidden Menu, click in and select "launch", then you go into the list of the hidden menu deatures and find "High Lux Mode" and click and put it in ON or Enable.
Reboot the phone and voilá, your phone is more clear/bright in the sunlight.
That doesn't work with the Verizon LG G6. I installed the app and the Hidden menu does not exist.

as i know no, its not possible without root.
and yes, it works because i do it myself and see some changes in direct sunlight, as for normal places with max. bright you dont notice much so, i use it normally like 35-50% most of the time bit with this simple trick and with sme sunny day i did notice a better brighter image.

thx for the answer man, i just tried it on a shop display phone, probably also didnt worked beacuse of no root.
but can you tell us about how it looks, or how usable it is in everyday life?
how much brighter is it?
any chance of you posting a video showing this?
i mean real video with another camera that show how much extra brighness it gives.
thx.

looks more brighter, just that...is usable as if they are no mod to the brightness, the screen just get a little more hot but nothing special, but you feel it in the finger...
i am no expert but i can say, maybe 40-50 nits more than original.
how a video will show the brightness?! you wont notice it because i dont have two phones to show the difference and there's no way you notice it with a video. I mean, even if i have two G6 one with this little mod and other without the difference in direct sunlight isnt visible with the eyes because of sunlight, and inside with the same thing you will notice just a little, little little difference.
This works but since is a brightness thing wich mess with display and cameras wont show it well.
Sure you're not confusing it with the G7?

Yeah, Samsung devices have had this for a while, noticed it was on the G6 too, but to a much less extreme, on my S6 the brightness difference is insane, on the G6 it's there but not as insane, still would be cool to see as a mod, but I can imagine this would cause damage to the display (burn in, yes I know LCDs have a LOT less chance of burn in, but it still happens!) and a ton of battery draw/excess heat...
Edit: cool, It is a mod! didn't read the rest of the thread.

Just a thought guys, if this isnt already out there which i cant seem to find.
Could anyone make a app that turns the flash light to on so it can
be used as a light?
Seen it done on other phones would just be a nice feature.
We need root for this.
Wait for root to go public, then this will probably follow (I doubt you need write access to /system for it).

Personally I doubt it will be feasible. Too many symbian phones we messed around with for years trying to make it happen, unsuccessfully (in some way or another). Would've been excellent if it was accomplished though. Even just a method to blink the flash on a press would be excellent.

With root it's possible for the Nexus so why not for the Desire. But we still have to wait for the Root acces. Damn waiting takes so long!

well it seems to be possible without root access, while I can active the flashlight led with a
echo 125 > /sys/devices/platform/flashlight.0/leds/flashlight/brightness
If I have time, I will make a little widget that will do it

That would be awesome if it's possible, it's pretty much the only feature that I think is missing from the Desire as far as I'm concerned.
Ok I made some tests, it will not be a problem to develop a simple application (would be better than a widget ?) with a variable light power
Great news!
I think, that an application would be enough, since it isn't an often used feature (But VERY usefull when needed )
Looking forward to this!
File in attachment, this is just a "trash code" program, just for you to let me know if this is what you where looking for!
Feedback are welcome
Thanks for the work guys much appreciated.
App works fine
Don't want to sound picky and that, but basically what i was after was the flashlight to use as a light, so just a on / off would be fine! if could make the on as bright as the flash ?
Just wondering, im guessing a lot of this is done in shell script and c?
Just learning C at the moment , doing a forensic computer degree at uni.
Yay! It works On isnt as bright. Would prefer an on/off toggle only. Either a full screen button or starting the actual app will toggle it.
NICE !!! work fine. but ON is not as bright as Flash is ... do something with it, please...
really good, thank you for your work
Yeah cool, it is working great.
The light isn't that bright but it is a good start.
You just need to make it look nicer, add a widget and it is ready for the Market.
Also, I think there is a conflict with the Camera, I tried to take a clip with the light ON but it switched OFF as soon as I opened the camera app.
Possibly the most useful app out there... if only on was full power!!
Nice one though!!
Thx man.. App to use everyday/night ;P.. Do you think it can be little stronger without not burn the led?

Any devs out there wanna give this a go?
I would love to be able to rotate my phone in any direction and have the screen flip like on my omnia... I know sense doesn't flip to landscape, thats not a prob, what I really want is to be able to flip the phone upside down and still use it as the correct rotation.
Reason I want to be able to do this is so I can use my phone in the cup holder of my car again, and to do this it must be upside down because of the charger placement... (same as on my Omnia)
Seems a pretty simple request, would be nice if it could auto run and run in the background without using up to much resources to.
If anyone is able to do this, would be awesome.
Thanks
Seconded ... but
I too would like to be able to rotate at least the other way; when showing off the Incredible, people rotate to landscape the other way and nothing happens, so they figure it doesn't rotate. I have to say "no turn it the other way" but it would be great to just not have to think about it.
BUT ... regarding the OP ... I simply took a dremel to the dash mount I bought (the beanbag, since California law doesn't allow sticking to the window in the middle). Carved out enough for a charger, and am done with it
I'd also like to see this. Anyone know the reasoning behind only allowing landscape mode by rotating to the left, and not the right? Even my old BB storm could handle rotation in both directions.
Agreed. This would be useful.

I would think it's because the majority of the world is right-handed and by rotating to the left, the optical track button is on the right side. I could complain because I'm left-handed, but hey at least my phone still has a signal when I hold it in my left hand, unlike other phones out there
This is an option in the cyanogen rom available in the rom manager. If you can look past the few bugs in the rom you can enjoy the 360 degree rotation you are looking for.

I'm assuming then this is for the Bluelight Filter toggle. Or maybe not, Blue light would be the opposite, if you were in a dark room as opposed to outside on the beach.
Ive googled the hell out of LG G6 System UI Tuner, and searched all of the LG Specific forums on XDA, and came up with nothing.
Ive read that its possible to enable it on EMUI Devices, but havent found a way to enable it on the LG G6. Is this something we will have to wait until root/bootloader unlock is fully achieved, or something we can enable with ADB commands?
The main reason Id want access to the Tuner, is to disable these damned Peek/Heads Up notifications.
If the G6 is anything like the V20, LG has just removed the content of the activity altogether, which means short of recreating it in Smali, it's not going to work.
If you want, you can give my replica a shot: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-systemui-tuner-t3588675
You can edit what apps can show notifications by going to Settings>Apps and then edit each apps permissions and notifications
Sure can, but what a ballache
Is it possible through Nova launcher activities? I can access it on my htc m9 through that. I don't have a g6 yet, but looking to acquire one soon....

Cant actually change the notification level of individual apps though. But everything is on the level I wanted, I think its 2, where it allows all alerts, but doesnt allow peek or full screen notification, which is what I HATE!

Not OP, but I just tried your app, and it worked exactly as expected after granting the permissions via ADB. Finally got the clutter (BT, NFC, Alarm) hidden from my status bar. The only thing I noticed was that after reboot, the Bluetooth toggle reset to on, but the icon was still hidden (reseting blacklist restored it). I didn't try playing with the other options.

I should be uploading a build within the next hour that'll fix your problem. The method I was using was ignoring the first item in the blacklist string (ie the first switch you used).
I really can't understand why companies like LG find it necessary to remove these things...I mean, it's not like it's a feature that can confuse some people (which is the only good reason I've heard for this type of thing) cuz this is pretty hidden to begin with.

I can't figure it out either. I decompiled the V20 System UI and saw that they'd basically just removed all the code from the Tuner activity, like a second thought.
Nvm i got it to work. Just cant get rid of that battery icon it seems,. darn it
The app helped me as well, though I couldn't get it to hide the WiFi Calling indicator. Also, I'd love for a way to get a battery icon with the numbers inside the battery...wtf my first ever android phone from 2011 had that as an option, the heck LG?

I am researching on this. On A10 you can use the magisk module "none display cutout". After install, in dev settings you have an option to completely ignore the holepunch area and swithching to fullscreen with gmd gestures lite will have truly fullscreen and no icons to burn in. Sadly this is not working on a11. Module will flash, holepunch will be ignored. But fullscreen mode will just turn off holepunch area
Thank you very much!
But I would prefer to not install twrp and not to flash magisk as well due to some reasons.
Just hope if exists some tweak app with adb granted permissions, like those for immerse mode.
Yes, thx,a solution would really be nice. I have been wondering about this.

There's definitely a lot of dead space up at top reserved for the humongous status bar icons, a good 0.5".
Should have made them smaller and further up the screen. Like others mentioned this task will be probably zero achievable without root etc.
