i dont think this is a SGS specific problem, possibly an app is doing this but cant figure out which one, during the day usually when i take out of sleep the wifi will come on for a moment then switch off, other times it stays on.
I have uninstalled Locale, and now use tasker but there are no settings I have entered for wifi, is there a way of figuring out which app could be doing this?
I have the some problem and don't know what it is
You can go to options and then go to wifi advanced options
(I have a Dutch phone so i don't know to correct name on English language on your phone)
you can select "never go to sleep" or somthing like that.
But is still have the problem
I'm also finding that I have to detach/reattached the wifi connection quite regularly. I'm using it on a 'n' network.

this is bug in the system.. it is the location doing.. it any app trying to get your location.. you are supposed to be able to turn it off by unchecking use wireless to determin location under wifi.. but it does not always seem to work.
I think the problem is with Google Maps (or Navigation, I don't remember). When I open it and starts to fix my location, the wifi will turn on althought I disabled in the settings the use of wifi networks to help the GPS. In theory, when you close GMaps/Navigation the wifi will turn off, but sometimes it will just leave it on.
It doesn't happen with other GPS apps like GPS Status, etc...
Will check what happens with Sygic later!
yes i have also tried unchecking check wireless networks for location, maybe switch off latitude?
its really bugging me as sometimes it gets stuck on switching off and you then cant do anything, and if you really do need wifi have to restart phone.
edit: switched off latitude, see if this is the culprit
I don't think Latitude has anything to do. I never used it and I have the same problem.
i have the same problem! its sooo annoying...
For the record, i'm using firmware XXJF3
If someone is using a newer firmware please check if the bug is already fixed.
not fixed in jf5 or jf7
just had to reboot stuck turning off. if anyone has a workaround or what service to kill to do so without rebooting please post.
I have all sorts of problems with wifi... keeps turning itself on when I disable it, keep losing connection, drains battery, locks the phone up (i think its wifi doing this) etc...
I tried wifi fixer app, and you can see how many times it disconnects/reconnects even after disabling sleep etc

i have location with wifi on. it disconnects automatically only when i'm not in the range of a saved network. Then it will connect to this network and stay connected
Any one else have any theories on how to fix this?
I think the problem is with the "Use wireless networks" setting not taking any effect on the phone (I have it disabled).
Having wifi turned off, if I open some GPS app wifi will turn itself on automatically. I think it is because it searches for nearby APs to fix the location more quickly. The problem is that the location is not as exact as with pure GPS. When I quit the app wifi will turn off automatically. This happens even if I have unchecked the above system setting.
A workaround that worked for me was to disable wifi AFTER opening the app that uses GPS, and the location was more precise.
Note that I tried this with Google Maps and Sygic Mobile Maps, so it seems like a system-level bug rather than app bug.
Anybody has noticed the same behavior?
My wifi is very annoying.
Every few minutes while I use e.g. the internet browser the connection just dies.
It often happens during loading of a web page or updating in the weather app.
My solution so far is to tun wifi off and on again, then it will work for another few minutes before it suddenly hangs again.

I have exactly the same issue. Which network system do you use? My router supprts "n" standard, maybe that cause the issue?
I think I might have fixed it by first turning it on and then turning it off(wireless location that is). Never managed to open up Google Maps before without the phone enabling wifi as well.
EDIT: Oh, and I'm running the custom ROM from Modaco.

Tried it on stock ROM version JF3 and still the same issue.
Regarding MCR, I didn't see in the info on modaco forum anything related to this GPS issue, maybe Paul fixed something without knowing?

Could be, but most importantly - Google Maps is finally usable again(for me at least)! Did you enable the "Use Wireless Networks" option and then open up google maps or did you just toggle it quickly?
Hello
Sometimes when i have wifi and data enabled at the same time, my internet connection stops working.
But if i disable wifi or data i will get my connection back. Even just cycling wifi make it work for some time again.
Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Or does anyone have a solution?
I have been reading around and think it may have something to do with Internet Sharing and Interop-unlock.
i had the exact same problem, but worse. i had to switch to airplane mode and back to get internet working. and it was a very frequent and annoying problem.
for me updating to 8107 over zune was the solution. no more connection issues.
(internet sharing however i do not have anymore - but as you said, it could be related to this -so screw it i don't share my internet if it crashes mine )
This is a very common fault (there are several threads on the topic.)
Call Samsung support and ask them to get of their asses and fix the problem. I called and they said that they had no other report on that same problem..
Have the same problem, but I have to restart my phone for it to start working again. *__*
I ran out of solutions to fix my phone. I've flashed every firmware, data reset, with custom and original recovery and still no wifi or bt. flashed both modems but nothing. bt scans but when it finds something the button goes grey. wifi only turns on if bt is on. i dont have a lock on my gps unless i use gpsfix. nfc connects but wont transfer files. any suggestions please!!
You may be facing a hardware problem. I think you should go to a service centre for this. Sorry, but there doesn't seem to be any software solutions as you've been quite thorough with trying to fix it by software.
Simple as that. I am running the stock ROM, rooted. Every time I tap on the Bluetooth icon in the swipe-down menu, the phone locks up and reboots.
I tried using that app on the Play Store called "Bluetooth Fix Repair," but it tells me "Sorry, this application can't find your Bluetooth settings folder on this device."
If I go into Settings > Bluetooth, and turn it on there, it works just fine. I realize I can just stick to doing that, but I don't like knowing something is wrong with the phone. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Maybe try removing your Bluetooth pairings and hope that will shake something loose to fix it.
You can long press the Bluetooth icon to get to the Bluetooth Settings page faster if that helps and removing pairings didn't fix the problem.
If it's still crashing after the above suggestion, I may have another idea to try.
Hi community, I'm insistently using bt, because I've just got mi band 2, and I found out that, when it's on, wifi doesn't work: it connects to routers, but I can't use internet or the speed is veeeeery slow (it can't let me see Instagram posts, for example).
Any way to solve this damned problem? Thanks

NEW SOLUTION!
I found the reason for the Wi-Fi problem too slow (or stopping) when Bluetooth is turned on!
The problem is "Your location" from Google Play Services!!!
Until version 11.6.73 (14-09-2017) there is no problem, but from that version, more precisely 11.7.41 (05-10-2017), until today (12.8.74), and in the next versions (13.2 .77 beta), the problem persists.
Will Google solve the problem?
I do not know.
But to solve the problem I found this solution:
Disable GPS-Then go to Settings-Apps-Google Play services-Permissions-Your Location-Location Settings-Disable Access to my location.
From there, you may already have Bluetooth enabled and Wi-Fi will work properly.
However, if you also activate GPS (wf + bt + gps), the Wi-Fi will be very slow again, until you deactivate the GPS again.
It seems that some equipment does not have this problem! If so, good for them, but for those who have this problem, the real reason is already found, and until they solve it (if they solve), we have this solution.
I'm grateful that you also report this error to Google, to see if they fix it.
