Hello, I have an unlocked Sprint Samsung S7, some time ago I installed the PL6 and G30P rom on it and it used to be rooted, now when I try to use any app that requires root it says that I'm not rooted, but now my phone is so damn slow so I decided to format and install a newer rom, but I want to use the most recent rom that is capable to use root and xposed if possible, which rom should I look for? Is there any tutorial to install that rom?
Any ideas?
Anyone? Or maybe just tell me the newest android version that is capable of use root and that I could install on my G930P?

Original from Rogers... Havent installed any ROMs because this problem showed up!
If you can access the recovery image, you can flash any ROM that you want. That Rogers original ROM must not be rooted, so you have not root access.

Ok, so to be able to have root access, i need to flash to a ROM? even when I already did the rooting stuff?
Oh ok. I was scared I wouldnt be able to flash to another ROM cuz this applications were telling me I had no root access even when I rooted already.
But wait, if i flash my Rogers Magic, wont I have bluetooth isues and market issues and all of that?

Depends on the rom new hero roms shouldn't have any BT issues but some have problems with protected apps from the market. But just find a rom you like and read what issues the rom might have and find one there cover your needs.
Thanks a lot for ur help
[Q] I used z4 and did "Permanent root". Does that mean I can flash custom ROMs now?

I am still running the Verizon stock rom for the DroidX. It is nice, but I want to explore the other custom options out there. What do I need to do in addition to rooting I guess, is my real question. And is the z4 root method sufficient, it was just one click and a reboot, but I do have superuser abilities now.

yes z4 root is sufficient as far as rooting goes ,now install rom manager and koush bootstrap recovery from the market ,they are free,as far as deodex you shouldnt have to worry about it since most roms will deodex for you when they install, but if you want to just place a theme without placing a rom then you will have to deodex first since the rom is not there to do it for you first.i would suggest reading this and get a better understanding

You might wanna use Unrevoked to root your device. Also, this is the Droid X forum, head over to the Evo section and there's loads of helpful information over there, including how to root using Unrevoked.

Guys,
Thanks for the help in fixing my camera issues !!
My next question is, am I still rooted once I updated to 2.2 ?? The Market doesnt seem as extensive as it was when I was rooted on 2.1
I am pretty new at all this stuff, how can you tell if your rooted on 2.2, and if I'm not, how can I properly root it again ??

root and Market are not related. You need to change your phone fingerprint to the Nexus 1 to show all the protected applications again as Google does not recognize the DK28 fingerprint.
However, you need to be rooted to edit the file. See the following thread for the fingerprint. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=848778

One way to check is to open up a terminal and type "su"
To get root back, use the one click installer.

Or flash a Tom to get all the apps. If you want to find out if your rooted just download titanium from the market. As soon as you open it it will say asking for root rights.

ok, here comes the idiot question of the night....
is there any way to root my phone, without having to use a computer to download any files ??
When my friend originally rooted my phone when I was on 2.1, he didnt have to use a computer, he was able to do it right on the phone itself (not sure what he did, tbh)

To tell if you're rooted - install an app like Titanium Backup, which needs root to function properly. If you're not rooted, there won't be access to the market.
For root if you've lost it, your best option may be to install a custom ROM, which are usually pre-rooted. Besides, most custom ROMS are better than what comes stock. Which custom ROM will depend on your needs.

Yes ? and use Original rom OK ?
Nuuna
Yep, sure can. Just because you root doesnt mean you have to use a custom ROM.
You'll just get extra access to your apps, thats all.

Not so fast. If you have an unbranded HTC Aria and have taken the OTA update for Froyo 2.2, then that update also modified your HBOOT loader and you will not be able to root your Aria at this time.
You may be able to gain temporary root using Z4Root, which may be all you need if you don't want to change the ROM. Z4Root will allow root access for applications, but you have to run it every time you reboot your Aria.

I'm still new to rooting so I wasn't sure with this Root, if I could go and install one of the Roms that came out before we even had root on the QC version?
Pretty sure you need custom recovery for that, and that's not yet available.

This is the only ROM available at the moment for us. For the others you need a unlocked bootloader witch we don't have.
