Is it possible to add users to stock samsung rom? - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

Since adding multiple device users is a feature from stock android, is it possible that Samsung has just hidden it?
Since Nova launcher has the feature to create apps and settings shortcut, is it possible to find the hidden setting through this?
Or is this a CSC type feature that cannot be activated through this method?
I tried digging around in it, but couldn't find anything.
Or is there a non-root method (maybe via ADB) to activate this?

if you're referring to multiple profiles, then I think that samsung has disabled that. it can be enabled by editing the build.prop (requires root, of course) or by flashing another ROM.

How to enable permissions settings on TW lollipop?

How do I go about enabling permissions settings within touchwiz lollipop ROM main settings? I've scene it within ROMs like devbase by _alexandr and some other stock based lollipop ROMs. Sure it has something to do with features.xml but can't find it in my search's. Any help greatly appreciated.
This can only be done if rooted. There are a few options if so.
1. Download permissions manager on the android market.
2. Get a rom like cyanogen instead that already has it enabled.
3. By far the best option! Installed xposed module and then get xprivacy. Be careful because you need the correct install files to get this running nicely. Xprivacy has security features unrivaled by anything.
Sent from my SM-G900W8 using Tapatalk
Though I've tried a couple of these options, I solved my issue. Thought it was a switch that could be toggled on our off through some settings file within root directory, but it was actually a mod made for _alexanr dev base ROM which modifies a system apk to display permission settings within main settings, originally made by Looki. But thank you for your response. I'm still think about xprivacy, is something I used a long time ago but does look like a strong option for managing permissions.

[How to] Debloating 6.0.1

Trying to help, I post here the file I'm using to debloat new 6.0.1
All seems to be working fine.
It's a heavy debloating: I am disabling also Samsung account, shop, themes (apply your preferred one before disabling). I am saving Samsung touch wiz and Keyboard, even if I am using Google Launcher and Keyboard, as it's always safe to have them.
[Update]
New file as previous one was broken.
Hi,
How do you use this .xml file ??
Thanks for your thread by the way
Buy for a couple of bucks Package Disabler Pro and import this file. Then customize at need.
Your list does not work
I click import, search the file in the folder and then nothing happens
Greets
Try the new one and let me know.
There has been an update in the app and they have changed the xml format.
Thanx
The new one work.
But there are much more apps to disable like Adapt Sound f.e.
Or see Screenshot

I bought this app, and when i tried to activate it, it didn't worked...
I tried 2 times already...
And this app only disabled or we can delete the apps as well ? Because after every reboot we'll have to do it again right ?

What is the exact problem?
This app disables only and no need to reapply at each boot.

I know but I use these apps
One note: do not disable COM.ANDROID.EXTERNALSTORAGE if you are using USB otg
When I press import it doesn't do anything, I'm I doing something wrong?

Cannot re-enable apps that I've disabled.

I have a thing against having lots of apps in my app drawer that I never use. I always go through and disable ones that I won't need. Well, I disabled some of the ZTE apps like My Voice, and now I can't re-enable them. When I go to app info, it shows "disabled" on the list for the app, but when I tap it, there is an "enable" button that is grayed out.
I'd like to be able to do this without factory resetting the phone.
If you can get ADB running to connect the phone to the PC try this
adb shell pm list packages -d
adb shell pm unhide package.Name

 looks like we are all here , by the way wont work (unhide command) needs to be " pm enable " and requires system access (root) "Permission Denial" , i try with a disabled app(s), just hope we get that update soon to avoid all this problems
P.S. yeah i'm the guy from ZTE forum
Haha good to see you guys!
Too bad on the ADB pm cmd, i was 50/50 on it working
I need to find a way to auto-post to both forums through

Technically i went there from here
Looks like you ran directly from terminal emulator. I'm not sure, but ADB shell might run under a different UID and have more permissions. This might have changed in MM, but you could use pm command to grand permission to Greenify package on non rooted devices
Was there ever a fix for this? I am running into the same issue and can't re-enable apps.

Update to B27 (and maybe factory reset). I'm pretty sure this was one of the things fixed in B27.

Oh. I was putting off upgrading until I got root and there was more development in the phone to recover corrupt devices.

Are you sure about this? I have seen posts on ZTE board saying that apps can no longer be enabled/disabled with B27. With B20 you can at least do disabling (I am not sure about enabling).
some you can some you can't. you can disable ZTE browser, but can't disable ZTE calendar or ZTE messanger for instance.
For disabling apps, are you using a different launcher?
Launch the Stock Android launcher and disable apps through the app drawer - I've successfully disabled ZTE calendar and messenger on my device.
Re-enabling seems another problem altogether though..

B27 can still be rooted and bootloader unlocked. No real reason not to update.
no such love for B27

That was something else that was changed.
On B20, if you disabled apps in Settings > Apps, sometimes you would not be able to re-enable them.
(What you're talking about) On B20, if you use the Stock Android theme, if you press and hold on an application icon, there's a "Disable" option at the top of the screen that you can drag the icon to. Using this method, you could disable apps that you couldn't via Settings > Apps, such as the ZTE Calendar and Messaging apps. However, this allowed you to disable things that could cause issues with the device, such as disabling Settings or the Dialer. If you disabled apps this way, you could not re-enable them via Settings > Apps.
On B27, you can still disable apps in Settings > Apps, and people haven't reported having issues re-enabling them.
On B27, the "Disable" option in the Stock Android theme has been removed. So while you're not able to disable some stock apps, you cannot accidentally disable something that could break the OS.

Thanks - hadn't noticed that difference with B27 till now.
However, I've disabled the stock clock, and can no longer re-enable it through the App settings.
There does appear to be another solution (I haven't tried it though) - from the App settings, if you select the 3 dot menu on the top right, the option to reset app preferences should re-enable apps (and reset other settings as well).

Did you disable it back in B20? Cause when I look at the stock clock in B27 on my device, the disable option is greyed out.

lG Access manager?

Hi, I've been using LG for a while and had been using a rootless permission manager to disable some permissions that arent named on the stock settings app. But it is not working on the v20. Its called "LG Access Lock" on the playstore. Anyome know of any similar that do not require root? I know root is available but I dont feel comfortable enough to risk messing up and bricking my one week old device haha. Thabk you in advance.

The app SD MAID (PRO) accesses all permissions (App Manager Section),but, unless you're rooted, that function does not work, nor does the disabling (freezing) function.
I suspect all apps similar to these have the same limitations w/o root access.

Looks like LG finally removed it. I used it on G4 and V10 but I used QuickShortcutMaker to get to it but it's not in settings anymore. Not really needed on Nougat.

SD Maid (Pro) actually does get into the permissions deeper than what is listed in SETTINGS > APPLICATIONS, but,you cannot toggle anything more than the stock settings unless you have root.

Access Lock was in LG builds since 4.3 and looks like they finally took it out with 7.0. It wasn't accessible just by going into Apps- permissions.

AdAway

I have rooted 7T Pro 5G successfully, but after installing AdAway, it does not work due to not being able to access the host file location. Probably due to the different system structure here - but has anyone gotten it to work?
You have to root to use this app, and without it, the others don't really do much - especially with Google crap.
You need to enable systemless hosts module

Thanks, but I cant find the screen with the option or a module.
I saw systemless hosts for Addblocker apps, and it said the module had been added, but I don't see it ?
