I have set my phone vibration on using power down key. For apps like WhatsApp, TOI, I have turned it off. Whenever I am using my phone and there is the notification from these apps, my phone gets vibrated. Is this is a bug? How can I turn off vibration for notifications and turn on only for calls? Is there is a difference in vibration setting when screen is off or screen is on? Please help
anyone??

Once For me, my device profile mode was in 'ringing' but when I was receiving calls, my phone device wasn't ringing. I then restarted the phone and it started working.
Same issue with the zen gesture 'tap to wake/sleep' , had turn the gesture on and off for it to work.
Phone is having many issues.

How can i enable the vibration even when i am in a call.
what i mean is that vibration by default gets disabled for the time being the phone is in call mode. so it wont vibrate even if some alarm or sms arrives.
I want it because i have developed an application that will make phone vibrate when call gets connected and will turn the sceen off. hence saving the battery and annoying screen clicks with my ears as i will get notified by vibration when the call gets connected.
Thanks for Reading.
I am having HTC touch ELF.
Anyone else having problems with their SMS apps when on vibrate mode? Handcent and SMS popup both do not vibrate when my phone is on vibration mode. Is it me or is it the apps? Any apps people recommend for SMS vibrations?
You have to turn on vibrate within each app you want to vibrate: gmail, mail, messages, etc. This means that vibrate is on all the time, and if you turn your phone volume up it still vibrates. It would be nice to have a situation dependent setting, but I like vibrate on all the time, even if I have the ringer on.
mine dont vibrate either

Lol, I know this already...but even when the notifications are on, it still does not vibrate. I'm guessing it's the apps I'm using...I think the developers need to update for our vibrants.
Here's a fix.

Actually try it before saying it doesn't, because it does work.

Wow, it actually works. THANKS A LOT DKYang!
F.Y.I. on this. I noticed that if you lower completly down the 'vibration intensity', though labeled as the intensity for touch vibration, it controls the vibration for sms vibration as well. It took some playing around to find this.
Hi all
Is there any way to disable messages to turn on screen ?
And is there any way of disable the home button waking the phone ?
I am rooted. Thanks in advance
Sent from my GT-I9505 using xda app-developers app
For the home button waking phone issue, see this thread in this forum from yesterday:

I'm not as worried about the Home key, but I have the same complaint about receiving SMS.
When I receive a text message, my screen turns on for a few seconds, then turns off again. Is there a way to stop this?
If I touch the screen when it is on, it takes me into whatever I touched, and the screen stays on. That is particularly a problem when it turns on while in my pocket.
My phone is set to have no lock screen (and unless you use a PIN or similar, I don't know why you would want a lock screen - it's just one more step to get to using your phone).
My Messaging app is set to show notifications in the notification bar and play a sound and vibrate, but not to show a message preview.
So, I think it's actually a bug that the screen would turn on at all, just from receiving an SMS or MMS message.
Am I missing something? Is there a way to stop this behavior?
For some reason I cant stop my notifications from vibrating when my phone is in vibrate mode. Its been a while but Im pretty sure in the past on my S7 I was able to have my notifications muted if my phone was in vibrate mode (except for texts and calls). I only want my phone to vibrate when I receive a call or a text if I am in vibrate mode. Otherwise I want all other notification sounds and vibration silent/muted/no vibrate when I have the phone in vibrate mode. This may have changed with a recent OTA update, currently on PE1. Am I missing something?
1) In settings/Sound and Vibration, Vibrate while ringing is checked and actually grayed out, I cannot unselect it. Which is fine because I want it to vibrate when ringing unless I mute the phone.
2) In Email notifications, notifications are on, but Vibrate is turned off and actually grayed out, I cannot turn it on. I have 3 email accounts setup through the built in Email app and all 3 are set to the same thing. Yet, it still vibrates when I get a notification.
I thought I had this figured out but apparently not. I ONLY want phone and texts to vibrate my phone when in vibrate mode. I want all other notifications muted. I have email vibration turned OFF but it still vibrates, along with most other notifications. Since I have 3 email accounts set up on my phone, this is quite annoying. What am I missing? Does vibrate mode make everything vibrate even if I have vibrate turned off on nearly all apps?
Try using do not disturb instead. You can customize it to allow phone and text messaging to go thru, and mutes everything else
Vibrate mode means vibrate. Why would you expect it not to vibrate when you use a setting called "Vibrate"?
Hope someone can help.
Since the August update the screen on my Mi A1 keeps turning itself on. Only way I can stop it is if I put the phone in aeroplane mode.
It will be sitting on the desk doing nothing and the screen just comes on, no alerts (I don't have app alerts on besides phone and messages), no calls or text. Doesn't even go to the home screen, just the screen lights up and wont turn off until I physically click the power button. If I put it in aeroplane mode it doesn't do it but obviously I can't do that as I then can't receive calls or text.
Anyone got any ideas?
