It seems that there are some problems with A/B partitioning. I think it's the main reason why it's being delayed.
UPD: Sorry, haven't checked the article first. It says exactly about A/B partitioning.

I guess there is just some feeling when you use an official ROM. It gives of quite a certain vibe to it. And OTA, I think.
Good news. if its legit.

Of course it's legitimate, we got the information directly from the people involved at the LineageOS team.
Mi a1 will surely recieve official lineage os and this is the proof : https://review.lineageos.org/#/c/LineageOS/lineage_wiki/+/218173/
I think the real reason of why lineage didnt officially suported it already was because of the A/B partitions.

OTA is not dependent on a rom being 'official'. Unofficial builds can have OTA.
There is not going to be any improvement in this rom if it becomes official since the same people are going to maintain it in the official versions.
So its better to stop asking for 8.1 just because of 'feelings' but to push Xiaomi to develop Android P instead.

Okay thanks
I'm sure someone's already tinkering with the new released oreo source. But I guess someone will post a booting rom in the next couple of weeks? Ah how long is a piece of string?
Didn't take long for Nougat. I remember testing Cyanogen/LOS based roms by November 1st and I waited for a few of the bigger bugs to be solved. There are some awesome devs around here. Be patient. They'll have some in testing before you know it.
CypherOS aka AOSCP are bringing up Oreo but don't expect anything anytime soon. https://gerrit.cypheros.co/#/q/status:open
I think it will be faster than Nougat. Nougat was a bigger update, Oreo should be simpler.

Depends on how much is broken back when nougat first came out a lot of work had to be done to port the code across from mm as the source code was not available for nougat from oneplus.
I would not expect anything to be fully working until oneplus release the Oreo source for their kernel.
I would expect a nov/dec timeframe for very early release of Oreo with lot of bugs and half of it not working properly!

If I remember correctly, you were one of the devs who brought us some of the early Nougat builds. I'm pretty sure it was one of the ones I tested. Will you be working on Oreo too? I'd be happy to test on weekends when I'm home if you are.
Thanks again for all your work!

Unlikely that there will be Oreo for N7 since google changed kernel requirments to 4.4 in R2
@tomcis147 for new devices rolling out with Oreo ..
last Android 7.0 ROM i tried was super laggy comparing to pure nexus based on Android 6.0 so I'm not even going to try 8.0

I can't download it from mi.com. Where can I get it?
http://en.miui.com/a-234.html
There's latest global dev which is supposed to be Oreo version, but I guess they took it down from main download site for a reason
I also received the notification, but I will not update it. There are many bug reports in this version.
Is there anything for those who dont want to unlock the bootloader?
Who updated it can someone share ???

I got the update from the app. I'm asking for suggestion should update or not?
This update according to the forum of MIUI, brings too many bug, so they recommend noo update ..
regards,
JC
I would not recommend the update.
There are many current complaints about it, some of them pretty serious - soft Brick - and they are consistent.
Wait for Xiaomi to address this.
This is not the same "beta stable" that was released the 12 of Feb, this is just a bit more polished... Anyway for those who want to have the bootloader locked and an xiaomi rom, stick to developer version, they are more stable than the stable version...
Here's the full changelog.
I still haven't installed though....
NFC bugs
Please upvote
Code:

on MIUI forum this if you encountered problems with Google Pay after updating to 9.2.3.0
Alright....I lasted 24hrs.
I updated.
Annnnnd....can I just say that it is noticeably faster opening apps?
Also the screen sensitivity had been increased.
So, I'll stick with it and let you know if I have problems.

No issues found, connectivity working as normal, phone is fast...
Regards,
Last night when I checked there was only China Stable and China Developer roms on miui site, now it has Globals too. Looks like thats a true stable but with all that bugs reported...
After update, I can't install TWRP properly (permanently) and TWRP has no access to SD.

Hi, I have several problems with this new update. NFC pay doesn't work anymore, no sounds for email, emails notifications are shown twice, notification from running background apps can not hide anymore (VLC, Messenger, etc). All other things are ok
Will the bootloader relock if I update from OTA ?
We have a chance to get fully operational custom rom with full working FP in display? I am afraid that this may not work... Any DEV could u say something more?

I have the same concern. If I go for a 6T would be not only for the battery life and speed but mostly for the long term support coming from the possibility to install AOSP roms. As Oneplus/Oppo has already released the kernel for the development it should be fine.
Search for the FP here:

Basically for fully functional fingerprint support the development require some more effort and different framework compared with 6. We can see here more info on this discussion where some users are testing already custom roms.

Yep, OG Cyanogenmod and LineageOS user.
But as of now, Lineage haven't confirmed anything yet apart from Paranoid Android.
Nobody is going to confirm or deny anything. It might show up or it might not.
As I wrote in this post, with the exception of Paranoid Android with this tweet, LineageOS has not announced anything about support for the Phone(1).
Then the Phone(1) still lacks reliability and stability in its OS, so I think that until the OS is stabilized, the devs will wait.
We have to be patient.

Many custom ROM distributions offer official GSI targets. You can also opt for unofficial builds. You can flash most of them through the Fastboot interface; a custom recovery like TWRP is not a mandatory prerequisite.
If you want to fiddle with GSIs on your Nothing Phone 1, first download the appropriate stock ROM for your model so that you can easily restore the factory firmware. Next, take a look at this index and grab a GSI of your choice.

Thanks a lot for clearing the doubt. I'll definitely take a look and compare whether it's worth losing the nothing phone's stock interface and glyphs over a fast and an always updated OS ..
