Hi,
I need to run Windows PE on my laptop, and I need smart card compatability for this issue.
The smart card service (ScardSvr) doesn't seem to work on Windows PE...
So I wonder if it's possible (and how) to work with smart cards over Windows PE?
Thanks a lot!!!

Hi,
As you maybe know, Windows Mobile 6 does have Encryption for Storage cards embedded.
I am looking for an utility which does the same "trick" for Windows Mobile 5, transparent for the user (so no security containers).
Like: Insert the SD card in your device. You need a password to access the card. You can write files/folders like normal. When the card is removed and inserted again, you need to enter the password again.
For PC's and USB sticks, there is a program called LocknGo Professional from Keynesis, but i am looking for a Windows Mobile app.
http://www.keynesis.com/products/lockngo-pro/
Is there someone who knows such applications or can write such program?
Utimaco SafeGuard PDA should do this (among some other things). Or Softwinter Sentry 2020 ... but this is like TrueCrypt for PDAs ... you have to manually mount the volume. I guess there are still some more apps like them.

Hey guys,
I'm semi noob to wiza200 flashing. have flashed my imate many a time to a better build and i commend the cooks on the work they have put in.
I have a current dead imate K-JAM (aka wiza200) which i need to retrieve the contacts off, is there a PC based application (like what i used to backup my mini-SD card) that can restore those settings so i can xfer them to a new device?
*WAS* modded to 3.08 IPL SPL
and was running jaguar version (plus my own apps).
i am hoping i can recover those settings that are stored on my mini SD card..otherwise i'm kinda *screwed*
Any input MUCH appreciated..
If it's just a PIM backup file on the MiniSD card you could get a MiniSD to USB adapter. They are inexpensive.
Is the device you want to transfer them to also Windows Mobile? If so, you can copy the backup file to it from your PC or use a Micro to Mini adapter and just use your old card in your new phone.

thanks for reply Rmcknight,
In a perfect world i would like to be able to retrieve the data from the SD card onto my PC so i can import etc as required however, current phone (at a quick buy) was a nokia 6121 classic using symbian os so i can't see anything that i can do currently.
Is there any possibility that i can uncompress the pim backup file for use on a PC? even if it's view only etc.
Or is the only way i can get the details to import to another windows mobile device?
I wouldn't have thought there should be much difference between the two other than coding.
Seems kind of odd if you can't export from your phone to PC to view/modify at a later date.
the device is technically bricked at the moment (till i figure out how to solder the mini usb to the other wizard 200 i have....that's another story )
Do you know of anyway possible that i can retrieve the data from file on a PC rather than off a WM phone??
any input appreciated.
Hi, I need to repair a friends notebook and thinking of using my HD2's 8gb memory card to burn on to it an iso of XP and install that way, is this as easy as this or would I need to do anything else? Essentially just need to make the card be able to boot an installation of XP when my phones plugged in via usb to the notebook,
Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere, I did have a quick look but not much came up, thanks for any help!
ive been meaning to test this - be great for my mobile tech support travels, i just havent gotten around to it yet.
I don't hold out much hope, i've yet to find a mobile device that does this, but I keep searching.
Please post back if you try it with results, and ill do likewise (when i get 5 minutes to myself!)
yeah I hope to try properly this week, maybe thursday, if I get chance as time is limited too! My first thing I aim to try is concepts listed from here:
http://www.bootdisk.com/pendrive.htm
It describes a method of fromatting it and perhaps changing the file system structure, will report if any success!
In the meantime, anyone any success accomplishing this?
Done it!!

With this software using the simple mode, select the location of your Windows installation CD and then the memory card of your phone (connected via disk transfer mode not ActiveSync) and set it to run.
Currently now installing XP on my friends notebook using my phones memory card!
nice, i'm planning a Linux net book remix myself.
finally tested booting a PC from the hd2 for myself today, ubuntu netbook remix loaded onto a live sd card, usb to pc set to disk drive mode.
it works a treat, the gf's laptop truly flying along using the hd2 as a bootable usb disk, and i booted by PC to a DOS 6.22 usb drive thru the hd2, hehe.
Gonna be very handy for computer support away from base.
Hello,
i have installed the Android Rom from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=877777
Installation worked fine, no problems at all.
Android runs, better then WM, but i have 2 problems:
1.Android shows up a message that my MICRO SD card is damaged, and that i need to format, which i did, but the message still appears. I tried to format the card on my pc, but Win7 tells me that the format can not be finished due to unknown problems.....seems that a few other android users have the same problems with their SD Cards.....any ideas or solutions to this problem?
The card worked fine till Android installation......
2.I canĀ“t establish an USB Connection with Android an WIN 7.
I have downloaded and installed HTC Sync(for all Android phones), when I plug in the phone, Android shows the usb connection icon, and Win 7 installs all needed drivers(firsttime), but HTC-Sync says: no device connected.
Any ideas?
Did you do a full format of the SD card, and not just a quick format?
If you did, and it didn't help, try using a different piece of software to format, like this...
http://www.sdcard.org/consumers/formatter_3
There's loads of 3rd party formatting apps that are better than the native Windows one.
As for HTC Sync, you can't use that with a ROM that doesn't have HTC Sense on it. Why do you want to connect to your PC, or is it just to use HTC Sync? If it's just for that then I'm afraid you have to forget about it and try and find alternative solutions. What do you want from HTC Sync?
Hi, is there any way to install/run metro apps from another drive (eg SD card)? I know that Windows 10 have that function build-in, i saw also registry hack for Windows 8 (which doesn't work on Windows 8.1).
