Recently I came across this article: https://forum.xda-developers.com/att-galaxy-s7/how-to/root-s7-att-g930a-g935a-t3410538 providing instructions on rooting both the g930a and g935a models. However, much to my dismay this root was performed using version 6.0.1, and alas, I'm running on nougat 7.0. I've searched all over the forums trying to find an answer as to whether this method still works for devices running on 7.0 however, I cannot find a direct answer. Does anyone know if the method of rooting used in the above article still works for a g930a running on 7.0 nougat?
All help is appreciated.

Yes there is root for 7.0. Just look through the forum and you will find what you need.

I've searched through but I cannot find such things? Forgive me for I've never been good at my "google-fu" or searching forums, however I will go back and do a double take. I'll continue looking, but would it be possible for you to point me in the right direction?

I've searched all the forums (not limited to xda) but couldn't find a way to root my new baby Samsung Galaxy Tab A SM-T355Y.
I've bought several android phones over the years but this is the first time I bought a Samsung tab and couldn't find a way to root. I guess the problem lies with the Nougat installed on my tab.
I've officially got the nougat update on my tab, here's the link to offline https://samsung-firmware.org/download/GALAXY Tab A/u591/XNZ/T355YDOU1CQI8/T355YXNZ1CQI8/
Any help/advise would be much appreciated.

Check the TWRP thread. Install TWRP via Odin. Then install SuperSU/Magisk manager using TWRP. I was using SuperSU and xposed on the MM build, I'm yet to try Nougat.
I have an s8+ g955u1ues2aql1 Running on 7.0 nougat
And I've been looking though the forums for any updates on root for mine, so far the only thread I found that sounds promising is the latest partycyborg rom way rooting. But I'm still unsure if my device is compatible because I dont see my bootloader version in the guide. I've been looking through other threads and searching but the only other significant find was a reply to one of the older rooting threads that said mine wasnt compatible with the rev2 bl and to look into samfail. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks all

Hello,
I am pretty much a noob at this, only successfully done a one custom rom and twrp install before on a google nexus a long time ago. But pretty much after getting really confused as what I can do with it.
I just bought this tablet about a week ago from a Best Buy. Its a 2019 model without the sim-card port, so it is wifi only.
The model number is sm-t510nzkaxac. Its an ok model, but there are a few things I am not happy with about it and I was wondering if anything could be done to fix it.
It doesn't have Android 10. Only 9. And having a little bit of knowledge about software and what not I have to wonder if some of the issue I am facing are related to this. Some of the apps are not usable and others there is no sound or other issues that do not occur on other devices with different android versions. Crashes and app hangs frequently.
Android 10 seems to work best(with another samsung tablet [sm-t307u]), naturally, so I wanted to see if its possible to update to this firmware somehow.
Please explain everything, as I said I am a noob.
Thank you.
I should also mention that I use Linux. Debian 9. If this is an issue...

I'm assuming it was a typo and you are actually talking about an SM-T510 and not T501. If that is the case, Samsung has yet to update the T510 to Android 10. There are custom Android 10 ROMs but not stock. So if any of the apps that came with the tablet aren't working, then there must be a defect. If you have installed additional apps, designed for Android 10, then they might have problems. But anything designed for Android 8 or 9 should work.
Yes thank you, it is the T510, just a typo.
I understand that Samsung has yet to update this device to android 10, which is kind of disappointing. But issues I am facing with some apps are with this model with currently has android 9. As I said before the newer device, and SM-T307u (2020) does have android 10. Also I've heard that Knox Security could pose a problem.
Basically I wanted to test to see if this is the issue with the T510. I've gotten as far as unlocking the boot loader, but beyond here I am confused. Probably because I am a linux user trying to figure out a way to do this without a windows computer for the odin software. What I have found so far, heimdall, doesnt work at all. I am guessing if I cannot get TWRP or any other roms on the tablet, I cannot get this to work?
I hate being a linux user for this reason, lol. Everything is made for windoze!
And yes the apps in question are ones added after market.
Anyways thanks for the response, cheers!

My T720 just got 10 also. But that is to be expected. The more expensive models always get the updates first. It has been known for months that the T510 wouldn't get 10 until Sept. I've been a Linux user for 20 yrs but I keep a cheap Windows box just for situations like this. However, there have been others who have used Heimdall to install custom ROMs on the T510. Do a search in the threads for T510 custom ROMs for Heimdall and see what others have done.:fingers-crossed:

Well I guess I need to find a cheap windoze computer someplace... Lucky I can usually find one at the recycle depot for nothing. Probably a good idea, though, Lol thanks. As for android 10, I might just wait until Sept. for the official update, dunno yet. Depends on what happens I guess.

I'm actually not finding anything with the T510 or heimdall in search, is it similar to other models for the procedures?
Tried some things here and just not getting heimdall to work. Tried to recompress twrp-3.4 and use that with heimdall, but it now complains that its missing the firmware.xml file.

The only problem with waiting till sept is that that was the schedual prior to covid. Can't be sure they'll hold to it.
Yes, covid... well lets hope that most of the development can be done at home and samsung employee are not actually working at the office I guess.
Latest firmware is android 10 now, got released a few days ago.
