Verizon to Sprint - Better to go to G930U or G930P? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions & Answers

Hey Everyone,
I'm brand new to this world, so I apologize that I could not piece together the information I need through existing threads.
I recently switched carriers from Verizon to Sprint, and through Sprint's IMEI check I was told my phone (G930V) was incompatible. Was wondering what the consensus was on whether or not it would serve me better to try flashing G930U or G930P? If anyone knows of a particular thread that could help that would be great, this is my first rodeo but I love my S7 and am already sick of having to use Sprints Moto E4 -_-.
Thanks.

G930U
with G930P, Sprint has choosen a bootloader which is e-fused and not compatable with the other variants.

Thanks a ton. Makes more sense now that I couldn't find any G930V -> G930P threads. I know I saw some G930V -> U threads though so I'll have to check them out. Appreciate the help!

Flashing Non Verizon Roms (i.e., from unified development roms), possible?

Hi Guys:
I don't want any Verizon related software on my phone, since I am using a different SIM. Am I restricted to flashing only the roms located in this forum for my S5? Or can I flash any of the Cyanogen or unified roms to my phone?
Anyone?
Is your phone unlocked? Or do you have the retail version? I'm just going to make the safe assumption that you bought the retail variant, therefore your answer is NO.
If you have the Dev version then have at it...
No one with a dev phone would need to ask. So no
Great thanks guys. Yeah it is a retail version not dev version. Damn that sucks.. whenever I dial *611 it still goes to the Verizon customer service line. I can't seem to change that even after uninstalling and freezing as much of the Verizon stuff on the phone. Any ideas

Its Verizon.
The model is SM-G935V
I think the only solution is to change the logic board.
I tried almost every 3rd party unlock site, contacted Samsung and Verizon but no luck.
Ummmmmm I think the u firmware is carrier unlocked and nor does Verizon lock there phones so it should be unlocked dude

The "U" model is the newer model that Samsung introduced on June 30 of 2016. It is UNLOCKED for North American carriers. It will run all of the big 4 (AT&T, Sprint, Verizon, & T-Mo) based on which carrier's sim card you put in it. Samsung introduced similar to some of the Motorola models or the Nexus/Pixel models that can be taken from carrier to carrier. That is ONLY true of the 935U. If it does not say U, it is not the North American unlocked model. It was sold directly from Samsung, Best Buy, and other online electronics resellers. None of the four US carriers sold this model since they sold their own model. Because it is not carrier locked, there is very little bloatware. Now having said all that, the bootloader for the "U" version is absolutely locked by Samsung so it cannot be rooted or flashed at this point. That is everything I know at this point. Good luck. The product is reaching end of life, so you should pick one up soon if you want, but you can take it to any carrier in the US.

So you are asking about 935U software running on 935A hardware? That doesn't seem to be what the original post says. Everything I told you was about 935U hardware only. In reviewing your original post, it seems you are asking a hardware question. Nevertheless I wish you all the best with whatever device you have. Good luck.

If the motherboard says 935A, you have the AT&T version that was flashed with the unlocked U firmware. The U firmware can be flashed on any of the US carrier versions. Flashing the U firmware removes the carrier bloatware but it won't unlock the phone. If the phone was fully paid for and not blacklisted as lost or stolen, AT&T should unlock it, otherwise a 3rd party unlock service should be able to provided it's not blacklisted and you tell them it's a 935A, not a 935U.
Hi all. its probably T-MOBILE G935, then check out IMEIFIX.com, if not then Sprint G935P check out IMEIGURUS.

You need to contact verizon support and make them to explain what is the problem exactly, ask for supervisor if needed. "There is an error" is not an acceptable answer.
Probably they need to whitelist your IMEI somewhere b/c it's not from verizon or unlocked phone originally - I'm just guessing here.

Verizon uses CDMA, Sprint uses CDMA but both of them are on different CDMA network, uses different hardware for it so in your case it wont help.

Just moved to T-Mobile, should I flash a different Rom or stay with Sprint official?

Device is unlocked and I finally got to move over to T Mobile. Went through HELL however got it done and was well worth it. Speed is like 100 times better ( was getting .01 DL speed on Sprint and now its 20.0 MB!!!! Long story with a different thread about it right here on the XDA if you are interested.
New problem is that I have just read online about Sprint coming like a month later after you moved over to T Mobile and re locking your S7 after its working on T Mobile (https://community.sprint.com/t5/Pro...longer-accepting-TMobile-sim-card/m-p/1023474).. They then allegedly fix the problem but I naturally want to prevent it all together.
Any way to make sure they can't do this to my paid off device?
Should I flash the G930T firmware or the G930P T-Mobile variant? Or maybe I should just stay with the latest Sprint version which is the one that is running right now?
Im on v9 bootloader so Ill have to wait if the best is the G930P T-Mobile variant Firmware. in order to prevent Sprint from relocking my device.. Theres currently a Virgin Mobile, 2 Unknowns and a Sprint variant for the v9 bootloader https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-s7/SM-G930P/.
Any insight into any of this is highly appreciated. Thanks.

I moved to cricket and my phone didn't relock. I would either Odin the T-Mobile if on 9 or the U firmware, since it is on 9.

Latest firmware/ROM to use for Verizon on Tmobile S7E (root preferred)

I have an old Tmobile S7E on old ass firmware (Android 7.0 BQE1) and it's already rooted. I just went through Tmobiles Device Unlock process and I believe the phone was unlocked successfully. I'm looking to upgrade to the latest firmware that still allows rooting. I've looked through the Custom Roms threads and can't tell which one is the latest. I am also wondering if I need to use Verizon firmware or stay on Tmobile firmware.
For instance, this thread here: by jrkruse, he mentions to another user in the comments "This one or verizon one? This one just has the Tmobile csc stuff added and a build.prop for gsm carriers thats it" so it made me wonder if I'm using Verizon service but it's a Tmobile phone if this would work. I know Verizon is CDMA so him saying gsm carriers made me think it may not work.
I know this device is old and this thread doesn't get browsed as much anymore so hopefully I can get some answers. If I can't get this working I guess I'll just be getting a new 2020 model phone :highfive:
Thanks guys!
