I have the Nexus One Running on Cyanogen 5.0.4.1 and I love it
but the camera is giving me some problems,
For some reason I always have verticals lines on my photos and
it makes to photos look very bad! I've attached a photo so you can see
on what i am talking about.
I've tried to use different settings for the camera (2-3-5 mega pixel combined
with Normal - Fine - SuperFine quality) and it maybe helped a little but
still not very good.
Is there anything that can be done to solve this BIG issue?
I mean, Rom with a fix, some configurations I did not tried or there's nothing
to do - the camera is not great?
It was very surprising for me cause the developers of the phone
and camera module never checked this? the photos look really really bad.
Will appreciate some help....
Thanks,
Guy.
it's normal for camera phone to have the lines when the condition is not enough light...
Well, not really when a device also has a flash.
My photos are crisp although it's 3MP without flash...
in short...don't expect too much from a camera phone then it will be alright.
for me it's normal because the features exist in every single camera phones (nokia models) i've owned when taken picture in poor light condition.
did it have flash when you took those photos?
if not, did you try to enable the flash so it would always flash?
i don't have lines, but the flash not always goes off when it should on automatic (with pocket cams too) but usually the pics still worked out fine
did you try fx camera?
Flash on will improve the picture... but not necessarily good enuf... for good low light photos, you need to be able to play with the camera exposure settings which most phones don't have... else, you an external light source
I had once a digital camera with the same effect in the photos.
It was a problem in the CCD sensor. It had to be repaired.
Well try and wiping the phone or Nand restoring to a back up and check if the problem still is there.
maybe its a defective camera? i dont have an issue with the camera on my nexus and im running cm 5.0.4. i think it takes wonderful photos. here are a few

Ahh, but the phone is horizontal, therefore the lines are vertical in relation to the phone

guy234 curious. does this happen with all of your pictures? or ones taken inside?
If its just inside, is the lighting fluorescent? Fluorescent lighting can cause these types of lines in photographs.

I am more concerned with the pink blob in the middle of your picture than the vertical lines LOL That pink blob is so annoying really wish they would fix this. It happens to everyone when taking pictures with a white background. Look at the wall, see how it is pink in the middle? That is a major problem with the camera on this phone for me.

It looks like you have some kind of clear cover over your camera lens. Do you have some kind of case on your phone?
Megapixel does not declare quality. Megapixel is a rating of picture size so changing the MP isn't going to make a difference. Try cleaning the camera lens with a Q-tip dabbed with rubbing alcohol.
I have never seen that on my pictures so it's not normal.
Also remember to post general questions in the right place.
Here are some of my pics

Try taking the photo with the phone positioned on top of something, thus it will be steady. Have just tried taking a picture of some text 3 times and each was slightly blurred, took photo with phone on table and was spot on.
Shame that these phones don't have OIS
I must be having a shakey hand day!
Anti-motion blur scn mode help here at all ?
Finger prints or something on the lens, bad focus selection eg no good contrast variation for the camera to make a valid decision, or you have an issue hardware
Maybe your Z1 has some hardware issue. I always shoot handheld and no blur unless you are shooting in low light.

You can try to use the micro distance photography pattern.
If you phone still can't automatically focus, it may be the camera has broken.

I believe it's some kind of pattern that you can print out in order to test/adjust your lens's focus
Gathered as much with a quick google, thing is cameras must have a facility to make this adjustment.
The Z1 or any phone for that matter does not have it.
Anyone got a purple overlay on their front camera when there is no light?
I get heavy purple or blueish vignetting with the front camera in low light, but only with the stock camera app.
First pic is from stock app, second one is from Google Camera.
Does anybody else see what Fuzalert2k sees when the camera is covered, i.e. dark? That means the image enhancement algorithm goes crazy in low light conditions. Does your camera work normally otherwise?
PS: there's already a thread on this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/general/camera-pink-spot-poll-t2933507/

Yes, the purple hue is also apparent in not-so-low light as you can see from my sample.
No, it's not the same phenomenon at all. This effect is only visible in the end result picture and it's the entire picture rather than just a spot within it. This is also not related to white balance, just seems to be a problem in the post-processing of the stock camera app specifically.

Yeah definitely not the same thing.
Look's like I'll be using Google Camera in future.
I must say Sony really dropped the ball on the Z3C camera software, and have yet to fix it or even acknowledge it.
I come from the HTC One.
The "pink hue when dark situations" was a well known problem there.
For soem time HTC used faulty camera sensors, which caused this problem.
If you experience sthis problem with your HTC One you can send your device in and get a replacement.
I hope that this is not the same wit the Z3Cs.
I for myself can't reenact this behaviour with my Z3C.

You are trying it with the front facing camera, are you?
It wouldn't make sense if it was a faulty sensor because it only happens in the stock camera app.
Now went into a completely dark room.
You are right, with the front cam, there is little bit of pink hue on the edges.
Yes, it is very "good" that it's only visible with the stock app.
Therefore the sensor should be okay.

Hi all,
recently got a new Note 4 N910F.
Comparing this to my brothers and friends Note 4, the camera is very washed out when placed side by side. The colours are washed and appear slightly blurry/fuzzy compared to the other. The pictures however appear to be similar and very nice. All phones are upto date with software, same display modes, same brightness. Everything else appears the same but just when in the camera. I've tried other camera apps but the same issue remains. Any ideas on this?

I've tried adaptive, both amoled's and compared to the equal on the other 2 devices it still remains washed out. Colours aren't as vibrant and contrast lacks. I've taken a few pictures and though I've said they appear the same, i can now tell some noticeable differences from certain lighting conditions. Again they lack the contrast/vibrancy.

Could be SW problem (but it's not a problem btw). You could have different firmware model and consequently, camera app (mostly probable if your friends have a different chipset version). Download a camera app like Camera FV5 (which is a good, professional, DSRL like camera app) in both devices, put the brightness at 100% and compare if they're the same or not. If they're not equal and you think it's a very important problem go to Samsung Warranty. Good luck!
If I'm posting in the wrong place I'm sorry, I bought a galaxy s10+ May 5th and I noticed a small noise when changing the camera open from 1.5 to 2.4 and from 2.4 to 1.5, it makes a low and different noise, I wanted to know if it is common of the device that annoying little noise or if it is some type of defect, I am from Brazil and I have the version SM-G975F.

the telephoto lens is raised when the aperture goes to 2.4, is it normal too?

It's perfectly normal, the clicky noise is the variable aperture mechanism.
Telephoto only has F2.4, if you try to use the telephoto lens in a dark place it will automatically switch to cropped F1.5 on the standard camera, that's why you see the view changing a bit.

try to see the application of the camera and switch to the dynamic focus, the camera without being the variable opening moves, I find this mt strange I'm almost asking for the replacement of the device,
puts it in the dynamic focus mode and looks behind the device and sees if the telephoto lens of a "jumped"
edit 1 :
I'm asking a lot of questions to make sure that it's common because I'm afraid to ask for the appliance to change,
I appreciate the answers and understanding.

You mean that it physically moves?
I have the same, the telephoto lenses move by a bit when the main camera changes aperture, but it only moves between the same two positions, I think it's nothing to worry about, it doesn't really have room to move anywhere else since the 3 cameras are locked together, I remember noticing the same on all retail units, don't worry about it unless it looks misaligned or pictures start to look distorted.

Tried what you said, switching from normal to dynamic focus while looking at the lenses, I can se the main camera switching aperture (opens an closes) and the camera telephoto lens move a little bit (like a shake) dont know if that is the stabilization part of the lens activating

The main camera's aperture mechanism is magnet based and it seems to interact with the telephoto's OIS, also magnet based, they shake each other but no big deal.
You can try it yourself with a strong magnet, you'll see it pulling/pushing the telephoto module depending on the angle.
