Bro you cant flash mi 5x rom on a1 as a1 has different parition. This will just brick you device. Actually one needs to change many things in the mi 5x rom to make it work on a1.
Why you have to flash miui when you have mi a1?if you want miui go get mi 5x.
Most people buy a1 over mi 5x is because its clean coming straight from google instead of using miui

Because Xiaomi A1 uses different LTE bands than 5X. The 5X is not very usable in Europe, particularly outside cities with 800Mhz band 20 networks.
It's quite funny to see Mi 5x users who want to flash Mi A1 rom (I'm one of these persons) and Mi A1 users who wants to flash Mi 5X rom .
Maybe we should just create an exchange platforms to trade Mi 5x against Mi A1 haha.
BTW, you're not losing much because even if you could flash the Mi5X rom, you'll only get the Chinese version with a lot of untranslated things and a few bugs and complications. (especially on the google apps side).

The best and easiest way is just trade with someone who want a1 but got mi5x instead l,they definitely would be happy with that.or you can wait and flash latest lineage os which is support flashing another bands based your location, aosp rom could flash another bands via twrp, you can wait or search someone post it on xda.as my experience with previous devices it won't make big difference unless you had problems with signal after flashing new Rom
It's not about trading, Mi 5x IS NOT IDENTICAL to A1! In many countries (the majority of the european countries actually) the LTE runs on Band 20 that Mi 5x DOESN'T SUPPORT, while A1 does.
What we're asking for is to have a device with MIUI (the xiaomi.eu MIUI, not the official one that's only in chinese with bloatware and no GApps) and Band 20 to run LTE.
---------- Post added at 12:30 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:26 PM ----------
ALSO
Consider that A1 stock rom has ALREADY BEEN PORTED to mi 5x so there's no reason for a Mi 5x owner to trade for an A1 since what he has to do is just flash the A1 stock rom on his device... Pointless to always say "trade for a Mi5x" or "buy a Mi5x instead".
Those are not the same phone!

Any update on this? I love Mi A1 but I hate stock android so much, it forced me to sell this phone. If there was a way to get MIUI working on this device, I would immediately buy it again. Has anyone successfully got MIUI working on MI A1?

Honestly I don't think this phone will get MIUI anytime soon. It will never come from Xiaomi in my opinion, maybe someone builds a MIUI ROM for this phone but modders activity doesn't look very good at the time.
If you want to enjoy MIUI it'll be best to buy another model from Xiaomi. I know the good thing about this phone are the included international mobile data bands, but it's one thing for another.

Miui rom might be available but only after Xiaomi/Google release the Kernel source code, and then custom builds like LOS and RR will also pop up
I really don't understand people who keep flooding the forums with miui requests... this phone is designed to run stock android, for people who DONT want miui (like me, who thinks miui is an awful, super bloated system), every other xiaomi phone is miui, why not buy that. it's like buying a google pixel and complaining that there isn't miui for it, boggles my mind every time I see this post, and they are everywhere

Sorry to destroy ur dream but MIUI is simply fugly and messy.
LOL please stop spamming how much you want MIUI.
It's pure nonsense.
source codes are still not available for the phone..... RIP xiaomi and google
I don't get it.. Why MIUI!?!?!?!?!?? This device has stock Android.. If you want MIUI then go buy a device with MIUI. Thank God there are so many other phones with MIUI from Xiaomi... ANY OTHER PHONE FROM THIS MANUFACTURER IS WITH MIUI.. GO BUY IT !!!!!!!!!!!!.. When the kernel source comes out the best thing is AOSPA for this device. Paranoid Android will make this device fly..... So would be Lineage OS. And something else.. You people should consider that Stock is the real Android.. Any other crappy skin is builded because the stock Android.. TouchWiz, HTC sense and any other crap like MIUI is there in this world because of Google Android. Stock. And stop asking for MIUI for this device.. You're behaving like you're 12 years old.. If you want MIUI build it yourself..

Indeed i cannot understand. It's inconsistent, fugly and buggy.
I would give it to you that it has a lot of gimmicks that causes a lot of compatabilities issues and break a lot of things.
Really useful features? Hardly any.
i want to ask that will mi a1 get miui 10 or future updates from mi or not? and does mi a1 have dual space setting for dual apps? Is its battery drains so fast? does it have hybrid sim slot and another tray for sd card?

Please do not forget that MIUI too is based on Android. Please posting this to buy an Mi phone. Sorry if I am rude but I guess you have never visited the threads for other devices. MIUI is being ported for them and most importantly the MI devices too have other ROMS ported to them.
The Company itself has a page [even though I have not seen the recent devices in that list] where in it has [had] released official ROMS for selected devices. So it quite obiviuos for people to ask for an MIUI ROM since it is an MI devices and has a twin [5x] already !
So please quit telling people to buy an MI 5x ! And as far as MIUI being released for Mi A1, it will never be realised officially. And as for custom ROMS and unofficial builds, it all depends on when and if the kernel sources are released and if any developer(s) ports the Roms for this device.
So if you are buying this device with hopes that MIUI would be released, then you better go for a device having MIUI.

Unless you plan on porting MIUI yourself once kernel sources are released you should not spread the word that "it would be done once the company releases the kernel sources". You don't know if a developer is going to bother. It would be unfair to users who will buy the device because of a possible future MIUI port.
Here's the facts:
1. The MI A1 runs AndroidOne, a barebones, stock version of android.
2. There is no MIUI available for the Mi A1, and there never will be officially
3. If you desperately want or need MIUI, do not buy a Mi A1 but get a device with MIUI instead.
4. If you desperately want or need a Mi A1, stop complaining about the lack of MIUI.
5. There are dozens of other devices available that run MIUI.

@Localhorst86 with all due respect, am not at all spreading any word. Nor I plan to do it myself. My bad if that statement was taken in a different manner. And I never have said that it will be officially available from MI either !
And yes I am well aware of the fact that Mi A1 is a AndroidOne Device! And this at the same time makes the device more interesting [but it again boils down to "If" ] !
@Swsultan "it would be done once the company releases the kernel sources" is a direct quote from you. To an untrained eye this could be seen as some sort of promise that once kernel sources are released there will be a miui port. There might be, but we don't know yet. The issue is in the wording. It could mislead someone into buying a MI A1 because of a future prospect that MIUI might get ported but then being stuck with a device without MIUI because no port surfaces. In that aspect it is also perfectly reasonable to tell people that they should buy a different device (one that has MIUI available) if MIUI is important to them. This wont help someone who made an unsuitable decision already when they bought the MI A1, but it will help others not to make the same decision. So the simple answer to someone who asks if there is MIUI available on the MI A1 is:
"No, there is no MIUI available for the MI A1. If you desperately need MIUI get either of the dozen MI devices available with MIUI or find another phone that has MIUI ported to it"
The list of 5 points were meant as a general rebutal to the question "How can I run MIUI on this device?", they are not intended in direct reference to your post, they are just a general list of facts. You did not say that MIUI will be officially available and I apologize if you feel that I claimed you did.

I realize that now there are so many devices that it would be impossible to make special rom for each of them. But I wonder, now I see so many people shouting for ROMs; that is Havoc, RR, Arrow etc. optimized for the Xiaomi mi A2 Lite. Possible that when I would like to try a ROM dedicated to him, none of the developers even the previous ROM take it into consideration? Yet I still see a continuous optimization for devices even a little more 'dated, like the oneplus2 or 3 that despite everything still assert themselves, but never Mi A2 Lite. I do not know what else to say, if not to hope that some developer can read these words of mine and maybe take a little into consideration. It is not to do controversy absolutely, but I wanted to give you my opinion, and since we are a community, we also feed with this.

I'm asking it because on AliExpress the k20 has chinese rom originally, and the global rom is flashed after unlocked bootloader.
Te 9t has global rom officially.
Which is the better option? If I buy the k20, can I make it a full fledge 9t with working gpay, etc?
I'm asking it because there is a significant price difference between them.
Yes You Can After Unlocking BL ... You Just Have To Flash Fastboot Global ROM and you good to go
---------- Post added at 11:37 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:25 PM ----------
See There Are 3 Versions Of The Same Devices
1. Chinese one
2. Indian one
3. Global one
( code names are also little bit different )
You can flash any ROM meant for any version to the device you buy .
FYI Giving Some Example Of SomeOne Who Faced Problem Regarding This.
[[[[[Ok guys I figured it out.Redmi K20 firmware starts with "Davincini" and 9T firmware starts with "Davinici" . So I have opened each of the "flash_all,flash_all_except_storage,flash_all_lock " with note pad plus and edited the words Davincini in the k20 fastboot rom to Davinci (9T) in the 8th and 9th row and flashed it with mi flash .It flashed perfectly . But forgotten to choose flash_all. So it relocked the bootloader. Now the front camera was not working.
There was a August update waiting . Updated now all is fine .Case closed.
Now again have to wait for 30 days to unlock the bootloader . Anyways back to miui 10 . So thanks . May be helpful to somebody...
K20 firmware starts with Davincini
9T frimware starts with Davinci...
Thanks Guys.............]]]]]

As you know this is the same phone basically and I would not say that the price is that much different yes it is cheaper a bit but is up to you if you want to play with ROM installation or get a ready to go Global version of Mi9t.
Mi9t has NFC with more LTE bands

Basically? YES
But EURO B20 and B28 LTE bands are not present on K20 china, I guess.
And not sure the phones version are not region locked in case you relock bootloader like MI8 is.
It is a must have for MI9T global ea rom.
And please can somebody link me a comvert tutorial, or write it down, how to do it? (I think I will go with the k20) I don't want to mess up the phone.
Thank you

If you don't want to mess it up and need a tutorial, it kind of mean that you should go with the mi9t
After all, it was clear to what to do as people post here. But if you still feel unsure on how to do it, it's better to don't.

I'm only asking because I want to be sure not to mess up. Before I had a a/b partition phone, so it's a bit different, that's why I'm a bit afraid but I like modding and custom roms (like I said currently using mi a2) so I will report here what phone was my choice.
I ordered the mi 9t, maybe not the best choice... But we will see. I think I will put custom roms on it after stable 10 roms are out.

I'm using 10 rom too currently on my mi a2 while waiting for the 9t. The reason I chose the 9t is that I doesn't need to flash roms right away when it arrives just to use gpay. I think miui 11 will be good, I would use it for 1-2 months when releases, and then custom roms later..

I want to install a newer GCam port and I think that the ports from this developer are one of the most recent ones?
https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/dev-parrot043/
But which version should I choose???
Is the latest Version = the lastest version but maybe not stable or do different versions have different features (because the names are mostly a specific feature/mode)?
I tried 3 versions (PMGC_7.2.014_HdrQuality_V6.apk, PMGC_7.2.014_V3.apk and PMGC_7.2.014_Stable_V1.apk) but I'm getting an parsing error if I try to install the apk.
Do I need to uninstall an old GCam port (it's from an other developer)?
Never mind.
Since on the developer info only the RN7 is listed I thought that I should automatically work on mine too. But the newer versions are for Android 10 and I have Android 9 installed.
Sorry for this useless thread
