Do not disturb not working properly in oreo - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

So far since the Oreo update on my G935v I've noticed that the Do no disturb doesn't allow exceptions. I have it set for favorites in my contacts to be able to call or text me but only my screen lights up silently. I tried a reset for default settings with no luck. Worked perfectly in Nougat. I even tried changing notification access in " other security settings". I've also noticed starting or restarting the phone takes longer and everything is choppy trying to use the phone until it finishes which could take about a minute of so. Anyone else have these specific issues?

Same here.
I am also seeing the same behavior with Do Not Disturb. I also have it set to allow favorites through but it doesn't ring.

G1 - sound settings and gprs on TMUK

I have my g1 for just over 3 days now and its brilliant. I do agree battery life sucks but this is something I can cope with.
However over these 3 days I already had twice the problem with gprs. When I go to the browser it doesn't open anything, just shows white space and waits for the page to load... I tried then Market and the same, couldn't get past initial selection (loading...)
It eventually displayed network error and gprs icon disappeared.
Moment after it reappeared and when I went back to browser it worked normal again.
It seems like gprs connection is hanging and once it is reset it works fine.
Is there any way of manually resetting the connection?
Second thing I noticed is with alarm sounds. Is it possible get rid of the alarm sound and just make it vibrate in the morning? I thought that if the phone is in silent mode with vibrations off it would just vibrate in the morning but it started to ring as well.
It would be better if silent mode was a "master setting" if you know what I mean... is there any way to accomplish that?
apart from these two issues the phone is great upgrade from kaiser... love the screen and responsiveness.
anyone?
Try deleting out all the apn's apart from the T-Mobile uk 1.
Settings/Wireless Controls/Mobile networks/Access Point Names
Click the name then hit menu then delete.
After do a reboot.
Turn airplane mode on then off. That should reset your data connection. As for the sound, there might be an app on the market that toggles all sound.
i'm not sure about data connection problem, removed all redundant apn's and it seems to be happening less often.
as for the alarm, I recorded 10sec silent mp3 and set this as an alarm - worked a treat!

Notifications volume problem

I am having a problem with the volume levels for notifications. The volume for notifications (Gmail, text messages, etc...) will randomly become very low. This makes it almost impossible to hear the notifications. The volume settings are still set to the max volume in settings but the alerts are barely audible. When this happens the volume in better keyboard sounds on keypress is also reduced when this happens.
If I soft reset the phone by powering off and turning it back on everything returns to normal.
Apps that I have installed on the phone are
Better Keyboard
Brightness Level widget
GPS toggle widget
Retro clock widget
TasKiller
Tmobile Visual Voicemail
Weather Widgets
Anyone have any clues ???
Thank you
I thought I was crazy... I have the exact same problem. For the record, I have a good amount of the same apps installed too. I have a cover on my phone and I was thinking for some reason that was it, but the only way to make it return to normal volume is powering off and back on.
I've got the myTouch 3G.
possible app issue?
I ended up removing the GPS toggle widget and have not had the problem in the last couple of days so it may have been related to that app. Ill keep an eye out and see if it happens again.
Hm, I don't have that widget or the brightness level widget installed. I've noticed that it will happen and then go back to normal sometimes without restarting the phone... just by opening/closing random apps (at least I've yet to see a pattern).
Very weird.
Data issue.
If you have recently flashed any ROM that doesn't have the correct kernel to support media sounds that come standard with your device...it can corrupt the files within that specific folder.
More-or-less, it's like making an "unauthorized" change, but your phone recognizes that, so the volume settings do NOT function properly due to some form or interruption from elsewhere.
I would suggest downloading a third-party application such as Volume Control to keep the settings RUNNING as an application and not just a system setting.
In my case, I haven't touched anything like that. As far as rom, it's exactly as-is from the T-Mobile box.
It's driving me crazy because my ringtone is also effected. Sometimes I can't hear my calls even if I'm in the same room with the volume at 100% and other times it's inappropriately loud because of this issue of it going back and forth.
Factory reset / data wipe.
If you have uninstalled or NEVER added any third-party applications to your device to utilize those toggle features or settings for volume adjustments...then I would suggest a FACTORY RESET or "hard reset." This will simply wipe your phone back to the obviously stated "packaged" form.
This will remove any potential issues that could have been caused by an application conflicting with the system.
Good luck.

[Q] Voice control starts up random at any time

Hey people
Ever since I opdated my sgs2 through Kies. The "car-mode" or Voicecontrol starts up random. Even without me touching the phone. And I cant deactivate it, because when I do that. It starts again automatically. Have tried to turn off the phone and pretty much everything, except reset.
Can anyone help?
There's a bunch of items that are set to enabled in the Voice Talk settings. Try disabling them. Also, remember there's a secondary menu off of the main settings menu. Make sure everything in there is disabled too. VT does activate if you double tap the home button or tap the phone twice if motion control's enabled. Make sure the latter's off too.

Do Not Disturb mode....does still disturb?!

I've put Do Not Disturb mode on when I'm driving, so that I don't get disturbed by notifications (e.gm whatsapp, Facebook, messages) popping up in bubbles at the top of the screen.
It's simply doesn't work - they still pop up! (albeit it doesn't vibrate).
I've selected the "hide visual notifications" option (see screenshot) but it doesn't work either way.
Anyone else have this issue? Any potential solutions?
Mine still give audible notifications in the night when it should be on do not disturb!
I have a much larger issue. My Galaxy S8+, I will turn on the setting to keep alarms on, one night it will work and the next night it won't so my alarm never goes off in the morning. Therefore I stopped using DND, turned all the setting to off even deleted the days it will operate to none and the setting STILL comes on every night at 1030. I go in to check my settings and they are all back on to the day before. Android is starting to get pretty poor with its updates.
if your display is on and in an app while in dnd calls will still come through if youre display is off they will not come through if youre display is on but not in an app the calls will not come through. No work around i can find as of now
This is so typically Samsung.. They finally fixed it, but only when the screen is off and when on the home screen
Ugh.. My Do Don't Disturb is dysfunctional.
If I'm listening to an audio book, watching Netflix or jamming to my tunes and someone calls what ever I'm listening to/watching pauses while the phone silently rings that's B.S. DND means exactly that DND. All calls should go straight to VM. when DND mode is on. Otherwise I can just turn the darn ringer off. DND is worthless.
For me works well. Only when the screen is off, like iPhone. Have you make the settings propperly? Because you can put if you want that calls don't show on screen.
A similar issue was fixed by hard-reset. Have you tried a factory reset? Factory reset stepMod Edit
Is there still no fix to this?
It seems like a pretty important malfunction and is super frustrating every night.
Anyone manage to get it working properly using Tasker?
On my S4, then S6 Edge I had a Tasker profile to turn on Do Not Disturb automatically when I plug my phone in to charge at night, and it worked a treat.
Not with the S8, no matter what I try, it still vibrates and activates the LED notification, even though it is showing as Do Not Disturb mode on, and in the settings I have ticked all the options to hide notifications when the screen is on, and off, and set no exceptions, or alarms only with the same result.
Any ideas?

Doze acting weird or missing a setting

I installed Linaege on my 6P, once I lock the screen the phone seems to become disconnected forr the internet or stops pushing notifications.
when I receive a message it wont pop up unless i turn on my screen, the exact same second i turn on my screen i receive my messages, while being at the lock screen.
Does anyone have a clue, i never had this problem on stock before as I can remember.
