when doing a check for software update in the official rom, as soon as an update is found for a given program LG locks it's until the user applies the update. As this looks like an abuse from LG I would like to know how to prevent or reset the software update tool from locking apps once it found an update.
You can touch & hold on the notification line until some options appears. Choose Show notification silently and you will be fine.

once it found an update for an app, of course an LG stock rom app, and locked its current version, how to unlock?
Which model are you using? I've never experienced this kind of situation.

i wrote the title a bit awkwardly, it seems there is no option to modify it. This is H990DS.
I'm using LS997 stock rom and never have this issue, so I can help you with this. Did you try to install a custom rom on it?

Hi all.
I got my hands on an LG G2 from verizon which used to be a display model, the problem is it won't charge beyond 38%, it displays a message about the charger not being compatible. So far I've used several chargers with no results
I'd like to know if rooting it and flashing a custom rom would get rid of this message and allow it to charge beyond that cap.
Soon I'll have the official charger anyway.
The second problem I found is that this phone has a different software version than a normal G2, in the end it has a "_DU" so ioroot will not root it as it will not recognize the software version name. This weird software version seems to be for the purpose of downloading an enabling a product showcase animation for using it on display at verizon stores, this animation is downloaded automatically after every factory reset, so it's very annoying, but it can be uninstalled nevertheless. My guess is this "DU" stands for display unit or something similar.
What I'm thinking could solve this problem is flashing an official firmware in download mode (to get rid of the _DU) and then try to root it in the normal way. Later I pretend to install cyanogenmod to see if the charging problem is gone.
Do you guys think this will work? I'm worried this prompt is not related to the rom, but the kernel itself, so uninstalling the stock rom would not work at all. Also, I don't know if it is possible to flash an official firmware just to get rid of the one with de "DU" in the end. I have very little experience with this device in particular.
Otherwise the phone is fully functional in every aspect, so I think this software version is indeed only meant to load the showcase animation. The current Sofware version it has says exactly "VS98011A_DU"
Thanks in advance.

Hey everyone, ever since I updated to lollipop (BOC5), my Settings>About device>Software updates>Update now button doesn't work.
When I tap on it, it doesn't do anything. Last check was on 2015-04-19, nothing since then.
I tried searching for it, but it's such a general expression, that I wasn't really successful in finding it.
Do you know how to fix this? Thanks for your help.
I'm bumping this thread because I've got no reply. Does anyone else have this problem?

It sounds like your device is not syncing with the update server.
Make sure that you are not rooted. Also, check if the CSC matches with your region. If it doesn't, you either need to factory reset the device and allow the device to correct it for you or flash your region's ROM. I had this problem as well after flashing lollipop from a different region.
I've updated to Lollipop via Kies, so it's the /official and correct/ ROM — that's why I'm surprised it doesn't do anything at all.
Get a stock backup and flash through odin.
Dirty flash fixed it, I didn't wipe anything but cache, and voila...it works.
Weird, but I just can't decide whether to root the phone or not since I'm really tired of ads and some other limitations (need to get rid of the s finder/quick connect buttons - the most bothersome "feature" of the phone )
Yet... on the other hand, I don't wanna void my warranty, so...

yes i have same issue, but my update now button is greyed out or disabled as i cant tap it, so how to enable this button and check for lollipop update???
Hello There!
I am here facing a really annoying problem... I Have Galaxy S4 Verizon, problem here is that I have dialed *#2663# and update TSP FW update and Now After That My Touch Screen Doesn't Respond... Everything is OK. Display, Touch Buttons But No Touch Response...
I Have Repaired Device Using Verizon Repair Assistant, Flashed Stock Rom... But Still Touch Screen Not Responding... Display Is OK But No Touch! Please Help Me... It Is Urgent To Fix This..
I believe you have to take to a service. There is nothing you can do if the touchscreen doesn't work.
Maybe if you connect it to a PC and use that to navigate through the phone.
The problem is: you updated that touch firmware, and I assume it is at the latest version, so you can't update it again even if you manage to get into that menu.
I think the only way now is to force install another touch firmware or something.
Thanks for your reply, your assumption is accurate. By now I am able to control Device through mouse device. but can you help me more to how to find some Firmware for TSP SW updates? Just Need links to learn and do stuff...
I Will Be Thankful To You Or Any One...

Unfortunately I don't know of any links. But this is not the problem, the problem would be getting it flashed on your device. I don't know what it would take to force flash it, but I'm pretty sure you won't be able to do it via Odin.

Verizon Is Not Allowing Me To Flash Via Odin.... I Always End Up Like Failed.
Maybe I Have Bootloader Locked After GS4 5.0 Update, And After That Failed Attempt I Have Left With Unlocked Padlock icon With Samsung Logo And Name On Booting Up And Nothing Changed Else...
Stucked & Confused!
Well Thanks For Your Replies..!

hello,

if you actually did find a fix.

Hey all,
I am very much willing to wipe my phone to do a downgrade.
I have the OP8 Pro, unrooted (never rooted/never unlocked bootloader).
The scenario I see is - I downgrade my phone to 10.15.13 (I have the INAA modell). I'm sure at some point the phone will check for an OTA.
My question - Is it all possible for the phone to upgrade itself if it restarts?
Meaning, is there a time limit that the update is sitting in the queue waiting for the user to press reboot to install? Or can I just somehow figure out a way to silence the system notification of an update pending?
Not sure if that makes sense but my hope is to just go back to 10 and enjoy certain things that just worked out better for me unrooted vs 11 unrooted until some things are ironed out.
Thanks for your time.
No you would need to initialise the upgrade, unless you have automatic updates on.
You would have seen the initial installation begin.
Least that's my experience of it. The update is stored on the phone so you may also be able to delete it.
Turn off automatically download updates.
I downgraded using the special firmware I found (couldn't find official to do it ) and then installed the official EU/UK firmware straight after with no problem

Nice - noted. I think I can start my search as well. Looking to do this tonight.
I bought the phone yesterday, it arrived today and so I immediately de-googled the stock rom as best as i could and installed microg etc etc. I also disabled a handful of applications using De-Bloater.
Only problem is that now the OTA update option isnt available in settings, probably caused by the applications i disabled in de-bloater, what service do i need to enable to get OTA updates back again? is this possible to do?
Thanks.
