For some reason I was about to update my H870DS TWN, and the download stopped midway and now says I'm on latest version (Nougat), doesn't find Oreo anymore. Does anybody know if the oreo update was halted for some reason, maybe they found it has issues or users reported problems?
My Singapore H870DS told me about the update on Friday, I went to download it today and suddenly its gone

Thanks for reporting, sure LG found major issues with the Oreo update for the G6 and halted it.
Seems like you need to wait another 2537252 Months, poor you ? I got it already since last week from lgbridge.

If you have bugs you may need to downgrade, so maybe it's better to stay on 7.0. Maybe I'm lucky I didn't upgrade.

FANTASTIC idea. Let's spam them like morons so they have to dedicate time to cleaning up the spam rather than distributing the update. Let's go a step further and call their support hotlines and scream at the underpaid students working there.

You are right.
After this nasty experience, I won't buy LG phones again.

I've send an email, in english, to LG support in Taiwan, regarding android 8.0 update for the LG G6 H870DS. Let's see if they answer it.

Thank you very much! Finally could update it, here's how to do it:
HOW TO UPDATE LG G6 H870DS TWN FROM ANDROID 7 TO ANDROID 8.0 OREO
1) Download the KDZ file:
https://lg-firmwares.com/downloads-file/15229/H870DS20a_00_OPEN_TW_DS_OP_0518.kdz
2) Download LGUP software for Windows:
Download LGUP_Install_Ver_1_14_3.msi file.
3) Download and extract LGUP_common.zip
Extract the two files inside, specially LGUP_common.dll to the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\LG Electronics\LGUP\model\common (create it if doesn't exist).
4) Power off the LG G6.
5) Then press UP volume, and while keeping it pressed connect the G6 to the computer over USB. The LG G6 should enter in Download (Flash) mode and display "Firmware Update" with an USB logo inside two arrows, plus display the COM port (in my case COM 8).
If the device is not recognize properly you may need to install LG drivers as well, they are available on previous links.
6) Open LGUP and choose UPGRADE and select the KDZ file on the 3 dots. Then hit start and don't disconnect the phone and make sure your computer does not shutdown.

}
7) Now the phone will restart and start the upgrade process of all the apps. Everything you had on your phone will be kept, installed apps, pictures, desktop configuration with folders and shortcuts, and almost all apps. Maybe some app may need re-authenticating (like FolderSync) or some widget to be re-configured (like Google Keep or calendar widgets) but for the rest of it it will be kept exactly the same, you will only notice that you have upgraded because of the newer rounded icons and the newer notification style.

Download and Install Android 8.0 Oreo on LG G6
For the few hours which I've been testing it so great so good.
I've lost patience now, too and flashed TWN FW manually (the clean way with factory reset before and after oreo upgrade) with the guide above.
First bug found so far: 5Ghz WLAN appeared in the initial setup but soon after didn't get discovered anymore. Now I hope that resetting the network settings will fix the issue.
Apart from that, the first impression is flawless and smooth. I've been used to oreo on my Xperia XZ (for months already!), though.

I did not perform a factory reset, but same issue here. 5GHz networks don't appear after the Oreo update. I guess the update was withdrawn for a reason, and now I can see a glimpse of it. Wish I never had updated, I can't see anymore 5GHz networks.
I can't demand an update from LG because I'm outside asia so no warranty, but please if anyone is, demand them to upgrade to Oreo 8.1 please.

Good news: Network Settings Reset didn't do the trick but I've found a fix (long-term functionality not yet approved):
1) Go to phone and dial *#546368#*870# to enter the hidden menu
2) Go to field test > wifi test > OTA
In my case it was disabled and enabling solved the problem! (actually I don't even have a clue what this setting is exactly for, found out through trial and error)
3) Then went one step back, entered FTM test, set 5GHz, started and boom, "start successful"! (before it had failed) :good:
4) Finally I went back to regular WiFi-Menu, was switched off so had to turn it back on, no networks, off an on again, 5Ghz was back and still is after several reboots + resetting network settings once again to double check.
Hope that works for others as well! :fingers-crossed:

If you've purchased a Yotaphone 2 YD206 from China/Hong Kong warehouse, you can't update it via OTA. As there no System Update feature available in Kitkat 4.4.4.
NOTE - I ain't responsible if you kill your phone with your own hands. So :good:
Here's a guide for all who want to upgrade your HK build YOTAphone running on Kitkat to RU build.

The image above is just for your reference. Don't mind the language. I took that image from another post.
PROCEDURE:
1. Download necessary drivers for Yotaphone 2.
- Actually download both Qualcomm and ADB drivers and proceed further.
- I recommend you to be online so that the Windows detects the hardware device and updates for latest drivers.
2. Install YotaphoneFlasher
Download latest firmware under the HK directory - 5.0.0-HK1.1.66.zip and the RU directory - 5.0.0-RU1.1.124.zip
3. First, unzip the latest HK firmware, copy all the files in it and travel to this path --> C:\Program Files (x86)\yotaphone_flasher
- Create a new folder and name it firmware
- Now under C:\Program Files (x86)\yotaphone_flasher\firmware\ paste all the files here.
4. Enable Developer options on your Yota and enable USB debugging mode.
- Power off the phone.
- Enter download mode by holding power and volume down button simultaneously.
- Connect your phone to the PC via Yota USB.
NOTE: Make sure all the drivers are installed correctly before proceeding further.
5. Using YotaPhoneFlasher on your PC, select option 1 which says flash the cellphone
- You can see the phone starts flashing the files
- If this step doesn't go smooth then you've not placed the files inside the firmware folder
6. While the phone is still flashing, it prompts the user if he needs to flash userdata on your Yota.
- Hit y/n to proceed
- Once the firmware is upgraded, do not hesitate to shut the YotaPhoneFlasher prompt.
- Your phone will reboot, and you can see the boot animation looping.
- Do not panic, GO HAVE YOUR MEAL and come back to experience Android L on your phone.
- Unplug the USB cable from your phone.
7. Set the phone and make it ready to use.
- You can see your device model has changed from YD206 --> YD201
- By now you should've received an OTA update of size 200+ MB.
- Go ahead and install the update.
- Phone reboots and you'll be having the build number as --> LRX21M.5.0.0-HK1.1.124d
- Your phone is good to go now. You won't be receiving any further OTA updates here.
THE FOLLOWING POST CONTINUES FOR THOSE WHO WANT RU BUILD -
8. Follow step 3 carefully with necessary amendments.
- Here, you need to delete files in the firmware folder since they belong to HK build.
- Unzip the RU build, copy it's files to \firmware\ folder
9. Repeat Step 4,5,6,7
- Under step 7, you should've received an OTA update of size 200+ MB.
- Go ahead and install the update.
- Phone reboots and you'll be having the build number as --> LRX21M.5.0.0-RU1.1.134
If you haven't noticed, 4G also works on both HK/RU Lollipop builds.
Hit the bottom right button which says THANKS if you have survived the challenge of keeping your phone alive

Thx you so much for yur time! I have a question about LRX21M.5.0.0-RU1.1.134 how many hours of display can you do with it?
is a difference between RU5.0.0-RU1.1.124.zip and EU File:5.0.0-EU1.1.124b.zip? I'm not from Rusia, so should I go witht the european version no?

I get 4-6 hours with Russian lollipop on WiFi. This is for nonstop browsing on OLED screen using normal power and location services but with app optimisation. Attached chart is from current battery status - almost 6 hours.

All the major languages are on the Russian and European ROMs,but the Russian firmware will always be the first version pushed out and in the future will be the version that is supported the longest. The software is the same except there are a few Russian only apps, e.g english aeroflot timetables etc, Russian language yota cover scripts and Russian books in yota reader instead of multilingual books on the European ROM.
Currently you can do an OTA from the Russian ROM to get the 1.1.134 version which is not yet available on the European ROM.
I recommend the Russian ROM, which language do you intend using on your Yotaphone?

No, you don't need root to use yotaflasher. It is very very easy to use. Select/Download firmware, flash firmware.
The most common yotaflasher failure is adb driver problems.

I am a minimal user. May be with 1-2 hours of Wi-Fi/LTE all day. Calls and messages on the EPD. Lasts upto 2+ days. Again depends on the way of using it.
If you use yotaphone on a powersave setting, that only allows phone, SMS and reader, you will get several days on one charge.
The implementation of extreme power save is currently clumsy, but in future release this will be much better.
EPD screen fail on black screen
Hi,
Anyone with problems on the EPD screen after the upgrade? For me it works only on "White mode", if not, the black becomes gray and a lot of refreshing issues occurs, it's unusable.
I heard that Yota still update this phone, is it true? I just bought it and I'm waiting its arrival.
I'm sure they will continue to upgrade the firmware, until yotaphone 3 comes out anyway. The Russian ROM is always first.
Hi I am having real problems here. I purchased the YD206 2 months ago from Banggood and then flashed it with the 4.4.3 EU firmware which i changed the radio to the CN firmware so that it would accept it. I now realise that I should have flashed it with the RU firmware as I want the latest release. However I am finding it impossible to get it to accept the latest RU firmware. I have tried:
1) Flashing the latest RU firmware onto the phone which has the latest EU firmware.
2) Factory reset back to the first EU firmware 4.4.3 and flashing the latest RU firmware onto
3) Flashing the 4.4.3 CN firmware over the first 4.4.3 EU firmware.
All attempts have the same result as the model number still reads YD201, the baseband version says S01_003_3034_RU1_M11_P2 and the building number reads KTU84L.4.4.3-s01-003-EU1.0.3.51a and the item keeps attempting to download EU updates rather than RU.
I would like some advice on how to get my phone to accept the latest RU update.
Regards

Well, I'm sure most of us are facing refreshing rate issues on EPD with WHITE MODE disabled. True that, the EPD's refreshing rate is bad on BLACK MODE compared to that of WHITE MODE. Hoping for the developers to look into this issue and rectify it in their future OTAs

Bad resfresh rate is "ok" on EPD, but mine junt can not produce a black screen, it turns light gray, even that "Yotaphone" screen when you are turning the device, almost can't see the "Yotaphone" word which is white from the gray background which should be black.

Same Issue.
I installed the HK version, everything was fine including the edp screen. Earlier today the phone locked up and I did a forced reboot only to find it wouldn't come out of the splash screen.
For kicks and giggles I installed the RU version, and immediately noticed the EDP screen was gray instead of black, sort of washed out and ghosting was a major issue making it unusable.
Thinking it may be the RU version, I loaded and went back to the HK version and it did not fix the issue. Am wondering if the phone got hot during the upgrade and toasted a component for the EDP screen. Or it is stuck in some kind of eink power save mode.
Post deleted. (I've figured out how to root).

I think it is the RU version, i flashed the HK first and then the RU, following the guide.
I tried the CN version, KitKat HK and RU, and nothing fix the issue.
At least it is usable in white mode, and "mirror mode" too, it is unusable when trying to show a black screen with white characters.
I attached two pictures, IMG_20161130_080400.jpg the screen should be back with white characters, and IMG_20161130_123721.jpg working in "White Mode"
I have created this fresh thread so, hopefully if the problem can be solved, others might find it useful in the future if they encounter the same issues.

I tried to download the following files through Firmware Finder
B160
B161
B370
B371
B380
B381
and not one of them worked, all giving the same issue.
I spoke to Huawei service who said to try a different wifi network in case of a stability issue. Although sceptical I tried it to no avail. I then contacted them again and they said to try a factory reset which I have done ( this time leaving FRP locked ) yet I still cant install any update.
Does anyone else have any ideas on what I can do to get onto B381 please. Do I have to unlock the bootloader? Do I have to root the device? Do I have to take it back and buy a P10?
Thanks in advance folks.

in order to get OTA updates your bootloader needs to stay locked and phone unrooted... maybe Nougat ota is not yet available in your country... I got it yesterday. Just be patient.
I have same model I had to unlock bootloader and flash twrp and then b371 through recovery. Unable to update to b381 at moment though

Are OTA updates not carrier specific? IE Vodafone EE etc
With mine being a SIM free non branded phone am I likely to get the OTA? How many other folk in the UK have got the 7.0 update?

no matter if your phone is sim free, the sim that you use is from some provider and they decide when ota is going to be pushed... atleast in my country is like that..
I have managed to get on to B371 and will report on how it works for me in a few days.
This is how I came from B131 for anyone else that gets stuck.
1. I backed everything up and then did a factory reset ( mainly to clear out all the junk lol )
2. I reinstalled all my essential apps
3. I downloaded the official B161 Huawei UK firmware from HERE
4. I extracted the dload folder and put it on my phones internal memory and rebooted the phone, holding down all three buttons as it started.
5. Flashed the update and waited for it to install.
6. I checked and I was on VNS-L31C432B161
7. I opened HiCare and looked in " early OS adopters " and saw an update to B371. I then accepted the terms and downloaded it.
8. 10 mins later my device was running VNS-L31C432B371
One slight issue I did face was Google play seemed to freeze so I rebooted and it then opened fine.
I would love to install the Viper4Android sound mod but one step at a time ( mainly as I dont like the warning message on boot up ).

Thanks for this guide, it was extremely helpful. I've been trying to go from B131 to B371 for ages and you nailed it for me in about 30 minutes!
The only difference for me was that after the B161 installation the phone found B371 through the normal OTA update procedures and downloaded it. The OTA must have been released in the UK although it wasn't available when I was on B131.

Mini review of NXT-L29C432B581 :
+Better batterylife, remember I use my device hard including gaming (CSR2) and a lot of constant app switching between apps and A lot of IMs. I use the camera, I did listen to music And did cast to my tv.
My record with NXT-L29C432B560 was about 4 hours and 50 minutes (screen on time), with NXT-L29C432B581 I got about little bit over 1 hour more of battery life. So therese is absolutely an improvement in battery life. Besides software other factors determine your battery life keep that in mind.
+Apps open noticeably faster, keep in mind, you must give maybe the system one day or so to fine tune and build up enough cache then you will notice the speed increase. There is no doubt here, apps open faster, especially if they are not loaded in memory before, this was before the weak point with mate 8, fast to open apps if they are in memory but slower if they are not, this update help this.
+ Scrolling is probably as fast before if not faster.
I have not found any negatives.

Also I alsways recommend to install Hisuite on your computer to do a backup include also your appdata with the backups you need to change that manually.
To make backup is easy with hisuite. However this update does not remove any data but if you value your data.. you should consider doing bakcup.
Also keep in mind, this guide should only be used on non-modified devices, no root, no unlocked boot loder or anything cause that could give unpredictable results that I am not aware of.
So do not use this guide or give negative feedback if your device have been modified.
1. Step one Download Huawei firmware finder from google play
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teammt.gmanrainy.huaweifirmwarefinder
And in the app you will have to download and Huawei Firmware Finder Proxy. You do this by opening settings menu in Huawei Firmware Finder as in picture below and this dialog will pop up.
Choose download addon
http://imgur.com/vUjbXjv
http://imgur.com/ZCdpJHF
2. Make sure NXT-L29C432B581 is approved for installation on your device by clicking on "check firmware access" chose "with IMEI"
http://imgur.com/FlT3tsZ , should look like this if it is approved http://imgur.com/eCSFPQo
3. Once huawei Firmware finder and Proxy addon is installed open Huawei firmware Finder
Choose this package http://imgur.com/aKkxRdN
Now we need to prepare your internet connection so you can communicate with the Huawei Firmware Servers.
Click on "Register for update" Click on "register for update it will simply inform you that your IP address have been recorded and allowed for installation from their servers, http://imgur.com/k20UTZF
After that in the "register update menu" now choose "copy DNS", This will place their DNS server in clipboard so you do not have to write it down.
4. In order to install from Firmware finder Server you must use their DNS server this is most likely a security thing. In this Guide I will assume you have wifi. Go to settings and wifi.
Now when you are in wifi settings on your phone http://imgur.com/X16ftl7 now "long press" on your wifi connection a window will pop upp chose now "modify" network"
Now settings for your wifi connection will pop now you will need to press " show advanced options" Now you must set ip settings from DHCP to Static.
The Ip Address you use should be already filled in same with gate the only thing you will need to change is DNS, the DNS is in your clipboard, you now need to long press and press "paste"
http://imgur.com/a/AeXSi (the DNS server in the picture might change so use the one that is in your clipboard from Huawei Frimware finder). Now your connection is prepared now press "save"
Now your connection will restart with the new settings.
5. Now Go Back to Huawei Firmware finder, chose the B581 package again package http://imgur.com/aKkxRdN , now choose " send firmware to updater" This window will appear http://imgur.com/EpiQ2mN .
6. Now Go back to homescreen pull down notifcation bar and press settings, go to the regular huawei update app http://imgur.com/G0xK5Tu now update should appear as a normal OTA update in the Huawei Updater app, click download as a normal ota update. Wait for it to reach 100%. when you have reached 100% and it has verified the package disconnect from your wifi now use your 4G (this to to avoid this problem http://imgur.com/a/9EAAK).
6: Now when you have discconected from your wifi connection which use the firmware finder dns, you now use your normal 4G data which use your own DNS from your own internet provider.
Now its very important to go back to Huawei firmware finder, this is most likely some kind of bug, but it seem do do the trick press "Check firmware access* again. it will send with IMEI but the difference this time is you use your 4G data and normal DNS. http://imgur.com/FlT3tsZ , should look like this if it is approved http://imgur.com/eCSFPQo (use IMEI as first time). Also Press again "register for update" as we did before http://imgur.com/k20UTZF to be on the safe with now this time with your 4G data Ip number (this step might not be necessary but it does not hurt to do this since it worked for me)
7. Now go back to regular huawei firmware updater app. if the package is downloaded 100% press install. Now this is the most critical part of the and all hang of this, now the huawei servers will authenticate the downloaded NXT-L29C432B581 package, it will tell you if the package is 100% genuine or not, if successful your device will restart and update the system.
8. Now the device boots up and NXT-L29C432B581 should be installed on your device https://i.imgur.com/ow6t3pW.png. do not forget to reset the dns server in your wifi connection change back from static to DHCP in advanced wifi settings, good luck.
9. Before you start using B581 go into settings and developer options Now chanage animation speed to 0.5x

No success for me. Many problems - connection unstable, connection error, authorization failed, no connection with Huawei servers ...
Three times, step by step with guide!
I'll wait OTA.
Nicely written but it doesn't work on my original, unrooted locked L29C432.
My IMEI seems to be approved since this morning so I hope it means that OTA will follow soon

This method did only work for me the second day so it might not work on first time. It can be little bit unpredictable if the server authenticate or not
worked for me, thank you vermy much! :victory: I had to try 2 times and delete all update files from my sd card which was saved before. I had always the problem after 10% i get this message:
"Software Install Failed!
Failed to check the update package.
Please download the package again".
... but after your fix it worked thank you!
Doesn't working for me, tried this 5-6 times.

try to do it after your update fails (the 10% thing) and your phone reboots, then dont let your phone download the update and delete the files inside this folders before you do the guide -> ..\HWFF\null and ..\HwOUC , then start the guide till the last step and then start the download of the firmware on your phone, read the guide exactly

Yes this step might do the trick, last try I did before going to bed the server did not accept the package, the day after it did, maybe I did reboot and the last step again... I also think the server is little but unpredictable also.. maybe.. the server is overloaded or something. If this step turns out to work, I can add it to the guide.
Worked for me from L29C432B560 rooted with bootloader unlocked.
It worked on the first try.
The only difference from OP instructions was:
1) At 99% I paused the download and disconnect the WIFI to use my 4G connection
2) Open firmware finder; "check firmware access with IMEI" and click in "register for update" (all this step with 4G)
3) Connect again WIFI and finish the download. Disconnect immediately when finish to get the validation with 4G
Thanks!

Great 100 percent and reboot and 4g might work also.
Thanks!. it worked, got my phone updated with your instructions. In the middle of updating, it gave me update failed message, but after reboot it was updated, and everything works fine.

Big Thank you!!! to you :good::good:
Followed all your steps as it is and updated to B581. It took me 1 hr 10 min or so to update using this method.
Previously, when I updated to B581 using a DNS changer app it took me more time. So your method is definite improvement.
Excellent thread & wonderful detailed instructions. :good::good::good:
You did a fantastic job giving step by step guide. :good::good:
I wrote detailed step-by-step guide to install Kangvip B588 ROM in my post (https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=72633987&postcount=4291) & I mentioned about you. More people will be using your excellent step-by-step guide in coming days. If you or anyone is interested in installing Kangvip B588 ROM then please have a look. Kangvip ROM is pre-rooted ROM (root is very stable) with lot of features. Please have a look and see if it interests anyone.

I only have made these 2 steps and now I've an update which is proposed to me. I'm rooted with TWRP, so maybe all this tuto is unecessary, like you can see on the screenshots below.
However I think if I have to make this update, I should install the stock recovery and remove the root by caution.
I think I'll test it this week-end to avoid all issues with my phone in the week, because I need to have a functional phone in this week.
If all works, I'll come back here to report it.
B.R
I was able to do it without using this method. Here's how I did it:
I downgraded to B152, once system booted, I was presented with an update to B170 through system update, did the update and once booted, B192 was then the next update. Once booted, was presented with the update to B560, right after system started, updater then showed that I can update to B581.
Note, that I stayed unrooted and with bootloader locked through the whole process. It's a pain in the ass to do it this way but it's worth the shot, it took around one hour but your mileage may vary depending on your Internet speed.
I'm using a MediaPad M3 (Wifi only) bought from amazon.com (model: BTV-W09C128) and I discovered by chance, through firmware finder, that there's an update that ends with B352 (my current firmware ends with B351) and I wished I can download this update because it has lots of nice optimizations with battery and touch sensitivity...etc but trying to do so was not successful because it says that "my connection is unstable...blah" and I'm also afraid of the fact that this update is not approved by Huawei (!) with my IMEI sent.
My question is: Why Firmware finder shows this update even though it's not approved yet by Huawei? and Does anyone had any success with downloading this update without messing up his tablet?
P.S. I'm not living in the US so if I bricked my tablet, I won't have any chance of fixing because it's not sold officially in my country, so your advices are much appreciated.
P.S. Attached is a screenshot of the changelog of this update.

Yes, like a lot of folks I got the 352 update yesterday OTA. I had previously updated to 351 (Android 7/EMUI 5) from the stock version via FF last month.

Thanks for the prompt reply however I'm stuck with the boring message "unstable network, trying to connect" when trying to download using the proxy method. Is there any alternative way of applying this update? otherwise, how to circumvent this fake message (as my network is indeed stable)
Mine worked fine. 352 Mb download in 5 minutes, 5 more to update. Working very well, improved battery life.

Could you please share with me your update method? trying to download through firmware finder as a proxy wasn't successful because it said "my connection is unstable...blah". When I stopped the proxy and removed the proxy settings from my wifi connection, I found out that the download begins nomrally but at the end, a verification happens to that update which ended up being deleted because it is not authorized to install (I don't know why!).
I'll appreciate if anyone knows a download link to that update with instructions because I have an SDCard installed to use for this purpose.
It won't be of much help, as I opened the tablet's cover and it was already requesting the update. I just accepted it.
But you can try to force an update search on tablet's config.

I never got any update from the system updater without the help of firmware finder which helped me go from Android M to Android N with EMUI 5. After that, it's not able to help anymore!
Do you have your huawei account registered on the device? (I tend to beleive that a Huawei account may help in getting the updates directly from Huawei through the updater without the need for buggy 3rd party apps)
Nope, just google account. From moment one it already askes for update - M to N - and the new one from a couple of days ago.
I see that this update is available using the firmware finder app. Can somebody tell me the best way to update on a rooted tablet?

Not sure since I didn't encounter any problem upgrading to 351 using the proxy method and FF. When I was researching methods at the time, some other folks had upgraded to 351 another way - involved using an SD card as I recall. You could look around for that or continue to see if you can figure out what the issue is with your setup (I'm assuming it's not FF since that worked for me). Did you try using HiSuite to update? That may work as well now since they're pushing the latest update OTA. But the OTA push seems to be country by country and since I'm in the US and you're not your experience may differ. Sorry I can't be more helpful. Good luck.
I'm in the US. Downloaded the OTA but it wouldn't install, since I've got TWRP installed as my recovery.
I used Firmware Finder to download the full update (two .zip files). These do flash with no problem; unfortunately, they reinstalled stock recovery and locked my bootloader. So I had to unlock and then restore the device from backup (along with all the email account setup, etc. which doesn't get restored from backup).
Sounds like those of us who are rooted need to wait until somebody creates an image that can be flashed with TWRP without wiping everything out. Were you able to use the original code to unlock your bootloader again?

Love the tablet but its weird, this is my second one after bricking the first, immediately unlocked, twrp installed rooted then enabled 5g which was harder then the first tab I had. The other weird thing is on the first tablet I had to change wifi settings for firmware finder to download with the new one no setting change just clicked download and it did.
Anyway the question is just to verify, so you check both zip files on ota update? I only clicked usa full update and in recovery it failed at 5%, any ideas?

I just recently purchased 3 of these phones and 2/3 had Oreo already ready to be setup. The 3rd however only had Android 7.0 on it.
I checked under settings for a System Update option, but couldn't find anywhere on that phone a spot to check for system updates. It did however say that it was up-to-date on system patches (Jan 2018).
Huawei support recommended that we factory restore the phone; which we did but still no option to check for system updates, etc.
Any idea on how I can get this phone to update?

Was phone used, or "refurbished" cause it sounds like it has been wiped out on the /data files. If there is no update app.
It was supposed to be in /data/hw_init folder somewhere.
No, no option to check for updates. What can I do to get that folder that you mentioned? Is there an 8.0 image I can download to factory restore from that?

Sorry for the delay, I didn't notice your question.
Here is guide to install update manually.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-7x/how-to/guide-honor-7x-flash-oreo-update-t3781649
If you need help selecting correct update file for your model, let me know
Oreo update and DC Unlocker
I have an Honor 7X and it has caused me incredible amount of stress and waste of time trying to get Oreo. I FINALLY FIGURED IT OUT.
I had been trying to use the software updater to check for Oreo for months and it always said I had the latest software - which isn't true. I also used Hi Suite to no avail. I just registered my phone with Huawei and it updated. I am not sure if your third phone is unregistered, but make an account with them and check. I wasted so much time, bricked my phone, paid for DC Unlocker, tried to flash Oreo stock etc... finally I have it the legitimate way.
Now, the next thing I would like to do is install an Oreo custom rom - but I am not paying more money to DC Unlocker. If anyone wants me account details for the DC Unlock to recover their bricked phone, I have 2 days left and will provide info.
