3GB / 4GB which is better and why? - Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 Questions & Answers

Hi... recently im finding a budget phone and i found this phone it look interested for me.. and i like stock android most of the time but here the problem.. does 3GB or 4GB ram which is better and why?(opinion for budget user what u guys will choosing)

Better is obviously the 4gb variant.
I own a 3 gb variant and trust me it handles every app and game brilliantly.
For Rs700 I can any day add in extra 32gb.
I don't prefer spending 2k extra for memory.

Hi,
how much free ram available on first boot for 3gb variant

About 900 mb.

if you dont have problem spending extra 2k then go for 4GB otherwise 3GB variant is also fine, i have a 3GB variant and it runs well, sometimes it closes apps if too many of them are open but it doesnt force close them while you are in it.

[Q] Wrong ROM? Boost Mobile

So I switched over to Boost Mobile in order to get my hands on this phone. I really like it but my version only has 4GB of ROM, so after the OS and bloatware I'm left with less than 3GB of usable storage. I contacted Boost about this and they said that they only sell the 4GB version. I haven't seen anybody else really mention this problem so I'd like to see if anybody here can let me know how much available space they have on their phone that they ordered from Boost Mobile's web site. Thanks!

With all the apps I have installed (1.2GB) I have 2.8GB free, so 4 GB useable seems to be what I have on my Boost model I also purchased online. I don't remember the exact amount after first boot, but it was about a couple hundred MB used already.
Maybe doing a factory reset can fix it?
bought mine at bestbuy on boost network and in storage mine says 4GB total also.

That's why everyones wanting an unlocked bootloader or root, to get rid of all the crap on internal and make full use of the 128gb external for apps and not just media. Once this phone gets a break on either of those this phone would be a powerhouse for media, till then were stuck patiently waiting.

yes there are others variants too like 32gb and 4gb too
This isn't exactly new ... just didn't sell in the US. Git that model a few months ago on ebay
I made the emphasis on this one because a lot of people were forced to buy the expensive one $299, just to get the 4GB of Ram. This model offers the 4GB at a low cost. In addition I did an extensive search and this variant has never been mentioned or put on sale till lately.

Not a new variant for global Atleast..
They introduced this in India as many ppl want for low cost
But this variant in India won't have boost master charger, only 16gb, and low end 1.8ghz
But cost is just 1000 rs less than 32gb, 2.3ghz, with boost master charger..
So guys Becareful on choosing that variant.. And check whether it has boost master otherwise not worth 19k rs

You do realize boost master wears off battery quickly it does more harm than good to your battery.

2gb RAM Ownice? Or 1gb other brand (Isudar), for $100 less

Hi guys. It looks like there's only Ownice selling units with 2gb ram. All the rest have 1gb. Other specs near identical (quad core, 16gb flash).
Should I pay the $100 extra for 2gb ram do you think? it's a lot of money for a small (but maybe worthwhile) upgrade.

What do you wan't on it. It is the question. I have the 1gb ram type and its enough for me. If you don't run a lots of app on it, its fully enough.
Just google maps or whatever navigation, and music. Just don't want it to be slow swapping/paging when switching from maps back to home screen, music player, etc.
The 1gb is enough for this
Thanks

I have a C200 and i'm very satisfied, there were problems with reboots and data loss but with the last update from december, it didn't occur again, sure there are some minor things but nothing to bad, it boots fast, gps works good, the phone calls are crisp and clear on both sides (it has bluetooth 3) and Ownice will roll out android Lollipop 5.1 the end of this month or in march.

Ownice delayed the Lollipop update, it should be this year, but when i don't know.
For the moment i am satisfied about the unit, no reboots or data loss and stable.
ownice also released the C300, so makes me think they will slow on the updates for the C200

G4 plus 2gb vs 4gb

I bought a g4 plus base model from best buy. the 16gb - 2gb ram model. runs well but im curious how much better the 64gb - 4gb ram model would perform? It is worth the extra $50+? Im considering ordering at best buy and exchanging my 2gb model and use the free $50 bestbuy gift card i recieved when i purchased.
Thanks.
I have the 16gig as well. The stores don't stock the 64gig and I couldn't stand my LG G4 a second longer.
Now, if you exchange the 16gig you will have to return the gift card with it, a new one will be issued with the 64gig. If you are lucky and ask really nice, customer service might let you apply the $50 to the new phone. Don't count on it though. (I work at a best buy mobile)

I mean will it be a big speed improvment? Because its already pretty good.

My old phone was a 16 GB phone, and I could manage fine with it, but I can definitely appreciate the extra space I get from the 32 gb version I now have. The extra ram doesn't hurt either, you'll definitely run into some instances when you wish you had it. 64gb and 4gb seemed a bit too much for the relatively mediocre processing power on a Moto G4 plus though, so I'd suggest avoiding going that far. The 32gb version hits the sweet spot for me.

I'm not talking about storage as I have the SD card to. But I'd assume the 4gb would give it a added boost. I may pull the trigger and order off of Amazon then return this one.
From what I have read and seen there isn't much difference in speed between the two. The 4gb ram will let you have a bit more apps running in the background before slowing down I guess.

I wouldnt mind the extra ram and 64gb storage. Gonna buy from b&h photo tonight. $299 free 2 day ship and no tax. Then return the 16gb model when it gets here.
I really like the extra ram. Android always tries to fill as much as the ram as possible because unused ram is wasted ram. The thing is when the ram is full, every time you go to do something, the system has to reclaim some of that memory for the new task. So the big advantage of having 4 gigs of ram is that you won't have to wait until that memory is freed up to start something new.
I have also gotten the 4gig ram/64gig internal and pretty happy with it. Flashed the custom Kernel as well. Liking it so far..
I can say without a doubt the 4gb ram version runs faster.
I realized swap was enabled by default, with 4 gigs of ram.... I turned it off and still have an average of 1.7 GB free memory. And the phone doesn't have to do any processing to compress part of the ram or whatever it does on a z-ram swap setup.
If anyone wants to give it a try, in a root terminal type "swapoff /dev/block/zram0" without the quotes. It took my phone around 2 minutes to execute.

Sorry... Having owned Android since 2009, and Unix/Linux since they were both babies (35yrs as UNIX administrator*), I'd say,
ABSOLUTELY go for the one with more RAM.
the 64GB? nice, (as is the memory card slot), but the RAM will never get unused!
* funniest Unix admin story. (not at the time though). Had to recover a unix system from the BOOT FLOPPY (5 1/4 inch)
once you F*ck up the root password file once, and need to reload, you never do it again!!!!
*end crappy story...
good luck, and go for the extra ram!

OP5 with 8 gigs of RAM

Hey folks,
I wanted to ask if it's worth buying the version with 8 gigs of RAM instead the one with 6 gigs.
I've read that OP stated that it can't be fully utilized now but it allegedly can be made use of when developers make apps for it with the huge RAM in mind.
Is it worth it? Will the huge RAM make a difference in the future? Thanks in advance.
PS: I already bought the 126gb/8gb version on the first day, minutes after the end of the presentation. Posted this on it.
The ram may not make a huge difference at the moment but the double storage at 128GB might
I'd second the above, worry more about the built in storage than the RAM. I've got the 8/128GB version, but it was for the storage rather than the RAM.

The short answer is No.
The long answer is: it all depends on what kind of person you are; for example some people are OCD and close apps and clear notifications every single moment. Others leave things and come back to them later and would like the convenience of it being the way they left it. As for me I fully agree with the 2 people above the storage option and freedom of not worrying is priceless honestly but if you could monetize it 60 extra bucks (USD) is a raging steal because some other companies charge you as if you're buying a whole new phone for 128gb.
TL;DR It's what you value most that matters, if you take pictures listen to music locally, and open apps and like them being open the next time you reach for your phone then you make the choice that suits you
The answer (mine) is yes. Better get the 8GB/128GB model if you plan to keep it more than a day.
I've read also somewhere that the 6GB RAM is less fast than the 8GB, not the same kind inside the phone.
you would be paying less for more if you buy the 128/8gb version..
540$ 128gb - 4,21875$ per GB - 8gb Ram 67,5$ per gb RAM
480$ 64gb - 7,5 per GB - 6gb RAM 80$ per gb RAM
