So I haven't been very active here lately except for checking in maybe every six months so I'm quite behind on the stable ROMs. Also I don't have much time to be flashing and re flashing ROMs, so I ask what are the most stable/best ROMs for this phone now. I used to use dirty unicorns but I'm not sure if it still gets updates. Again I don't have much time but would love a custom ROM with decent feature set, fast, reliable, good battery. Any clues?

Hi, I'm planning to try some KitKat ROM for my Mi2S. What you can recommend? It doesn't needs to be based on MIU, but it must be fast stable and battery safe.
I read good recommendations for MoKees ROM, but I want have more tips from you guys.
Thank you for any tips
Hello, Mokees Rom is a very good rom, with tones of features, but I prefer official CM11 from M1cha. It's not so "heavy" and for me it's ideal for daily use.
Hi, thanks for the tip. I'm currently on the MoKee, but I will probably test also official CM. MoKee is fine, but not so slight as I expected. I must say that old MIUI v5 was better.
Im using omni as daily. Personally I think micha's kernel is better than mokee one. The best thing is test the ROMs you might be interested and choose the best for your needs
I'm just testing latest sMIUI v6. I was fighting with some some settings ther, but finally I fixed most of the issues, so I will probably stay for some time with this ROM. Anyway the performance still to perfect as with MIUI v5.
what about battery usage?
battery usage seems to be fine. cannot say objectively, because my usage differs in last days, but its approx. 1-2 days. i'm still using, wifi, bt, gps, & data
Ihave tried many roms and I have to say that the pacman is so far the best cause is the one with most customizations. Love it.
Not sure how this thread lasted this long but.

I hate to be a moaner, and don't get me wrong what you devs do is awesome, but I really can't seem to grasp why everyone puts so much focus towards making sure their s4 has the latest version of android on their phone, even though, it's not really anywhere near stable enough for convenient every day use yet...
You'd think people would be more on the lookout for roms that are fully stable and fully harness their phone's potential instead of constantly flashing builds that could ruin their afternoon suddenly because something broke unexpectedly that they're used to having work perfectly?
I get that there needs to be development and testing, and it's all great work that's being done, but seriously, is there only this little number of stable S4 builds?
I don't care what anybody says, I haven't tried an LP rom yet that's been 100% stable, something always breaks and leaves me rolling back to KK just to have more peace of mind

This things differ from user to user and phone to phone.
A rom might work 100% stable for me and might be very unstable for you. Happens all the time. I see users, running the same rom as me, who have issues that I don't have. Or vice-versa.
And I don't think "Stable" means necessarily bug free. I think it means more in the direction that it won't crash and won't give you random reboots, and that most of the stuff works (only minor problems).
People upgrade due to the performance improvements, battery life improvement potential and, possibly, because of new features and additions the rom and/or kernel has. And some people simply like to have the latest software.
If you have problems, you just go back to the previous version using the backup you (hopefully) made before flashing and wait for a fix.
So far I have run these roms: 5.0.1 GPE, CM12 Optimzed builds, SaberMod CM12 Builds, SaberMod CM12.1 builds and now Resurrection Remix, and haven't had any serious issues or issues that couldn't be fixed.
The only serious problem I ever had was with an early build of SaberMod CM12.1 where the sms app I was using (hello sms) kept crashing when receiving a message. This caused the notification to not show, meaning I could only see that I received a text message when I opened the app.
The most stable and bug free (for me at least) was Danvdh's 5.0.1 GPE rom.

It's because you assume everyone wants a bugfree rom. Some people just want cutting edge technology. Also if something is a bug for you, it doesn't mean that someone else is annoyed by it.
And I have to disagree with you. There are plenty of roms that are stable running Lollipop. Look for example at the CM 12.1. It's ready for daily use and rock solid. Sure there are some minor bugs, but nothing that annoys me.
Bottom line: It comes down to personal preference.
I have had many phones starting back with Windows phones. With my Moto G4, I find that I can use apps with my rom and get almost all features of custom.
I use Xposed:, Gravity Box(GB), Battery Home, Xposed Torch, Boot Manager and Native Clipboard. I use Nova Launcher too. Battery life is excellent. Phone is responsive. I don't think a deodexed custom rom would do better. PIE is available with GB but I never use it.
I was thinking of trying CM 14. I tried Nougat on other device and, in my use, it has no meaningful advantages. I'm blocking updates to the MM rom. I'll wait a while to see what others might find.
I'm not a gamer. I would describe my camera skill as a snap shooter. Rarely do video. Have Snap Camera but haven't had patience learn it.
Unless Lenovo gets a much larger user base, I don't think that many custom roms will be done for this phone.
Yeah. With a clean enough android that is supplied with the phone, after flashing the stuff you mentioned, it gives a stable and smooth experience.
Unless you actually want to try the latest development I too don't see the need to flash every custom ROM out there.
Yeah ROM based on stock are distributed as well( intact I might try something myself after stable nougat comes) and it will be my go back to ROM. I'm pretty happy with unmodified CM myself.
Regarding the development side I think its happening fast enough recently with new builds coming online almost every week. Give it time we'll get more(I hope).
Guys plz Suggest a Rom which i can use as a daily driver..
I am currently on 3.5.8 which has ****all battery life
Help guys..
You'll get a different answer from every person who replies. I have tried most and settled on AOSP EX.
Go for Aosp extended. Using as Daily driver since 1 month. Feels like official update with less bugs. Actually never ran into any bugs except sometimes, though very rarely slowdowns, like once in a week or so... Except that excellent rom, very fluid, Everything working. Most importantly it just works, never embarasses when needed the most, like traveling.
I am just telling my experience, all the Dev's are best, they are the ones who let me explore more in around android and it's versions.
I used custom roms on k5 plus 3gb for 2 years i think.
It was like first few months i used the original rom and then i voided the warranty with custom roms as i saw more possibility and newer versions of android coming better than what i had. I kept exploring every part of the phone, and whatever softwares i could use and get more from this phone. Few roms lasted around 4-5 months. I love the nougat roms still, there is a Android Q rom already here, amazing. It was a good experience, until this last few months i started to have battery drain faster when i would use the hotspot feature or use bluetooth for headsets, and gps was like the most battery drainer. I kept changing roms and seeing what would give more bettery life while using, the sleep/screenoff state uses like no energy and then opposite happen if i use in full brightness outside and gps
Then
today i just tried to see the stock rom backup is working or not, it did, and now i realise that the most stable rom is the stock rom that comes from lenovo. The battery life is just way better than any other roms (+1hour than what you get in current Oreo and pie roms), the performance is back, Dolby Atmos is back and works, the inbuilt vr works.
The apps which were quite heavy lagged in animations in custom roms, stock does it smoothly, and i didn't need to get a small gapps package for performance this time, stock has like most gapps i think and it's smooth.
New stuff like play protect, assistant, well-being, etc are now available for this old lollipop rom as well, most of the features in the future versions are now available to use with simple downloads and a few majisk modules, without harming performance.
i am not sure how secure the rom/os it self is with old security patches. But yeah original rom got to be top 5 in best rom/os available for this device in terms of overall usability in daily life.
Tell me what your experience has been, i will use the stock lenovo again now for sometime. And might get back to custom".:good:

here we go:
go to TWRP and restore only /boot and /system partitions. that's it.
You could share with us how did you feel it compared with LP.
PS: everything is working flawlessly for me. a6020l37 (sd616 2gb RAM single SIM)
Okay I will check this out, also you don't need to quote long messages
Lenovo stock ROM wasn't that bad but after installing Android 10 (AOSP) Custom ROM on my Vive K5 Plus, it's feels a relief.
Yes there are some minor issues & bugs but over all satisfactory experience.
Personally I will always stick with this ROM over Lenovo stock 5.1
Thanks.

and you don't need to say what I need/don't need.
Yes, I extended a bit, but not that much as you unnecessary long OP, just to say stock ROM is more battery saver than any custom ROM.
BTW learn that this kind of experiences sharing shouldn't be posted in the guides section.

Yep aosp 10 feels good.... I will use it when it gets a bit more updates
AOSP 10 has got another build. I guess the last possible build since Dev may be moving out of Vibe K5 Plus platform.
I have just upgraded to the new build & it's stable enough.
Yes although performance can't be called butter smooth but it's better than previous build & most of the phone features that I may need in daily usage are working fine.
Standby time is good but SoT is on lower side, but I can't blame the ROM, it's my battery which is very old & worn out by now.
Thanks. :fingers-crossed:
The best rom with extended battery life was AOSP extended. i used it for 2 years with Dolby atmos mode and it worked flawlessly. Stock rom eats up battery too fast.
