I flashed rr, what is the best way to track updates? There is not much on updates in setting but I did find Google security, which is my main concern. Does rr issue update notifications? This is my first go round with rr.

Hello folks.
I was tracking down a mobile data problem I was having...as part of the troubleshooting, I was installing a bunch of different ROMs (LOS nougat, RR nougat, RR oreo). I found the solution to my problem after installing RR oreo, but the ROM itself was not the solution; it was a configuration problem.
Anyway, I'd just as soon not reinstall again, so my question: is RR oreo stable enough for everyday use? Or should I go back to nougat before I configure all the apps on my phone?
Thanks.
Both of are as good as it can be.
it depend on personal choice.
Both are good, some people have a few bugs with rotation on oreo I think.
No issues on my end worth mentioning.
However the battery drain is there on all oreo roms, more than nougat. On my old stock battery i get 4-5 hours SoT, and it seems like that for most people. Depending what you do.
Removing NFC is supposed to help, haven't tried myself.
But for myself, I've tried RR and now trying AEX. Both are fantastic, RR offers a little more customization and wake screen on waving. Crdroid has an oreo rom now too I believe that I haven't tried yet.
Do a clean flash to avoid problems. It also requires latest twrp or you'll likely receive an error on flashing.
I've rooted with magisk and all is well.

... should I continue using LineageOS 14.1 install on my phone, or should I find a new rom? If so, which one....or should I revert back to stock in the meantime? I am looking for some guidance as to what to do from here on.
I think there is an unofficial version of Lineage that is being maintained. Supposedly, the official Oreo update is coming soon so maybe going back to stock may be best.

You are using a nougat based ROM ,I think you should probably go for pie/oero based ROMs in our forums. And if you like it just stick to it, because it is been frequently updated with latest security patches.
PS: But make sure you fulfill all the requirements before flashing it. Because anything can happen, any time
Recently, I move out to custom rom, but I notice in my device i can't add manual wifi network. Any body have that issue? There's any solution for that?
I tried, Pixel Experience, CAF and AOSP, Arrow OS, crdroid, and the same result.
Hi,
It seems A1 will never get the official Q update, also last updates are quite buggy. I've lost my GPS and I'm not alone. I use the phone as my daily driver, so I'm looking for a stable ROM with encryption support as I have some banking apps on my device.
1. Restore the phone and stay with official ROM as long as the security patches arrive.
2. Install LOS 16 or even LOS 17 to get Q. It seems there were many problems with TWRP and the encryption lately, are they solved now?
3. Treble? Any benefit?
Many thanks in advance.
Hello!
You can flash LOS 16,because it is the latest stable LOS version for Mi A1.You can choose to encrypt the phone, and it will take approximately 1hour.
Treble is not such a big deal,is just about partitioning. You can read more about this and make a decision.
LOS16 is the most stable rom in my opinion only one problem slow-mo video camera not working except this LOS16 is best as a daily driver
Hello,
I will receive my RN7 in few days to replace my old RN3P.
I don't want to continue to use google apps. I want to use MicroG but i need a custom rom with signature spoofing enabled.
What is the best rom? I don't need a rom with many tweeks. I like pure AOSP and Lineage OS but they haven't signature spoofing.
Thanks.
If you or someone else still seeks this like me back in March I compared the then candidates: crDroid 6.3, HavocOS 3.1, AospExtended 7 all based on Android 10. I did go with crDroid 6.3 and still have it (no updates because OTA / dirty flash is not possible and it seems not all updates worked flawlessly for others). crDroid 6.3 works well and I like the custom things. Now it seems a LineageOS 17.1 with MicroG is available, but I remain cautious about updating/changing because GCam EIS video performance is important for me and some say new ROMs use camera blobs which may cause EIS video problems. Latest AOSP base might even brake video recording (green screen).
Well, I've tested crDroid, AICP und LOS4MircoG for exactly this goal (= no google, no gapps etc)
The recommended crDroid 6.3 build (by @Chrismo) is a very good one, I had this in use until 3 weeks ago ..
Now I'm on this AICP build (https://dwnld.aicp-rom.com/device/lavender/WEEKLY/aicp_lavender_q-15.0-WEEKLY-20200701.zip) witch includes more actual security fixes and is a bit smoother in daily use (imho).
All the later builds (LineageOS4MicroG, crDroid, AICP) seem to have cam issues ..
