Does the Android environment suffer from registry 'junk' entries from the installation and deinstallation of applications as WM does? I'm asking because there are just so many Android applications, and the Market is often unhelpful with determining which one is right, so it looks as though much experimentation will be happening, and I don't want to muck up the system.
Thanks!
Bump. Hope someone can answer this. Thanks!
If you want to remove all possible traces when you uninstall an app. Don't just uninstall from Market.
Go to Settings > Applications > All Applications (Click on the app) then select clear cache - then select clear data if you can - then click uninstall.

Thanks, but that only partially answers my question. I would want to be sure that all traces of an application are removed, but not all traces of everything. In other words, there are apps that I intend to keep, but for those I don't want, how do I completely erase them, or are they like WM apps where no matter what you do, there are registry entries?
Also, is there a way to find the .apk and save it for future installs? For example, the Marketplace doesn't archive a list of free apps. I would want to save those in a folder, along with keys such as the Pro version of Titanium Backup and so on.

Have you added anything to the phones memory? I remember it gave me that message when I first set up my custom boot. But other options can be try a reboot or a factory reset

* Cache Cleaner from the Market
* Check 'Settings > Applications > Manager Applications: Downloaded'
---> This shows all your downloaded apps, including their sizes. Look for the large files and try to either move them to SD (if you're running Froyo), clear down their cache (automatic with that Cache Cleaner app I recommended) or you'll have to just uninstall
Even after you've cleaned out some items, it can take a few minutes for the system to register the changes. You shouldn't have to reboot, but it might not be a bad idea to do so if the system isn't seeing seeing the changes.
thnx plyr
and thnx namuna well i need to upgrade to froyo i have the froyo us version for my phone but i dnt kno hpq to load it on my phn manualy plz help...

Not affiliated just use it.
It cleans the system and has other functions as well...
Hi everybody, on my S5 16GB (12GB real) I don't have enough space to install or update my apps
So I need to free some space, for example
Storage/media/.thumbnails/g900fxxu1boj1_5.0 is 509MB
Storage/apps/synthesis vocal 559MB
DOWNLOAD MANAGER 397MB
FACEBOOK Has 393mb under Apps and 240mb under Storage/media/.face
Can I free something?
You can wipe cached data by going into settings -> General -> Storage -> Cached Data which would probably clear 1GB or more.
Then go back and go to the application manager and swipe over to SD card and move as much apps as you can onto your SD card to free up some space.

Get rid of the Facebook and Messenger apps.....They 'hog' way too much of the devices resources and ask for totally un-needed permissions.
Replace them with a Web shortcut (on your home screen) to the web based mobile Facebook site.....you won't get notifications, but is it really *that* important to know if you've been 'poked' or if someone has mentioned you in some pointless post or liked a comment you left?
IMO......*real* life is more important......

Without knowing EXACTLY where on your phone that file is, and how it got there, I can't answer you.....

Storage Card\media\.thumbnails\g900fxxu1boj1_5.0
another strange folder
Storage Card\media\Mobi has three sub folders /.gen - /.alt - /.vcache for a total of 1140MB
I had eyefi mobi app, but on application manager was only 77MB, I uninstalled it but obviously didn't solve
If you have room to install one more app, get SD Maid and run it.....it should clear a lot of 'stuff'.....it may be that it even clears those files you've mentioned.......

Sorry, the app didn't help... Is the same as the "smart manager" which is installed by default
Ok....Make sure usb debugging is switched on (in developer options) then COPY those files to a pc. Then delete them from the phone (after you have noted their original location) That way, you can push them back to the device if their deletion causes problems.....

I installed a custom S5 rom on my S5 active. Everything works good.... but I would like to remove all fingerprint apps because on my settings the fingerprint item is present... and I dont want that
Could someone help me to resolve or fix the problem
Thanks in advance
You shoud just delete the "FingerprintService" app to get rid of it, i dont know which rom are you using but at least by that way you dont have an useless service for you running background. You can use any app that you like to delete system apps(I use SD Maid), or you can delete it manually, this app is here:
"/system/priv-app/FingerprintService" just delete this folder, reboot and its gone. The fingerprint will still shows on settings but will not be running in background anymore
