P8 lite bootloop - P8lite Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, a friend of mine from work asked me to look in his son's p8lite. phone was in bad shape - broken cam glass and dirt everywhere. after opening the phone and removing the mainboard i saw red colour on water damage indicators.
the phone stucks at huawei logo and keeps reeboting for a numerous times, also the processor (?) gets very hot.
fastboot is working and visible in adb, however "adb devices" doesnt do anything. erecovery is also down.
i tried to flash recovery without success, because phone is locked. i have no access to imei or sn to try unlock bootloader. usb debugging also might be disabled for sure.
literally i searched all of the internet for the sollution but i'm nearly to give up.
just one more thing, i have replaced the battery for a new one - old one had some sand or something else inside (phone doesn't respond to charger).
any ideas?

The only possible solution is to force an update. Here's how to do it: (links copied from here
1. Download Dual-sim version or Single-sim version
2. Extract the .zip file
3. Create a folder on your SD card called "dload" (without quotes)
4. Paste the UPDATE.APP file into that folder
5. Make sure the phone is turned off
6. Insert the SD card into your phone
7. Hold Vol+, Vol- and Power button at the same time to force the update

Red Led of Death

Hi,
After upgrading to new ROM I performed hard reset on my vx6900. At the last screen during hard reset pocedure I press Send button as requested and it was a last time I ever saw something on my screen. Device is not waking up anymore when I plug power it always the red led is switching on (with or withoout batery). I took a 100% charged batery from another device, but it's not helping. I'm out of options I think I tried evrething: Hard reset combination, bootloader combination, keep it on charge for hours, then without battery for hours - no luck.
Could anybody help me?

Had you been switching to Android (NAND Flash)?
No, I performed hard reset after succefully loading NFSFAN's WM6.5 1.00 FINAL ROM.
Before NFSFAN's WM6.5 1.00 I loaded Vogue_unlocker_MFG-2.31 (initial attempt to load NFSFAN's WM6.5 without unlocker didn't work).
Is there any way to revive it after Red Led?
If you cannot put your device in bootloader, then you are toast
How are you trying to put the device in bootloader?
I guess it dead then Not waking up into boot mode after Pwr-snd-reset.
Also I tried any combination of buttons with reset. It is not waking up. And it is strange to me because I was just performing hard reset and following the screen prompt. Now I don't see any activities except this stupid red led. I though there is some sort of reincarnation procedure some "hard hard" reset?
To enter the Boot Loader mode....
Press and hold the following buttons:
Power (on top left of device) + Camera (on right of device, near the bottom) + Reset (small hole on bottom right of device, just right of the USB port. You can press this with the tip of your device's stylus).
It can be tricky to press all 3 of thes buttons at the same time, and you will probably need to use both hands.
You should see an odd rainbow on screen, indicating that you are in the Boot Loader mode. The device does not need to be connected to a computer of charger in order to enter Boot Loader mode.
If this does not work you may actually have the 1st bricked vogue I've ever seen...

That is exactly why I was asking. What you are doing with power +vol keys is for the TP and not for the Vogue.
I used boot loader sequence already (pwr + camera + reset) between all other sequences it doesn't help, device is no show any vital signs the only thing that works is a red led.
I also noticed that when I power it up without batery and then insert the battery the red led is going away. Then Red led is blinking every time I press the reset.
It sounds that you may have fried your NAND...
Just to be sure, you didn't bump it, throw it, or sent it for a swim... have you?
Have you tried this?

May not work, but it is worth a shot.
Guys, when you get a red LED, it means your battery is fried. It's near summer so are you sure you didn't charge it in the car or something? Replace your battery and you'll be fine.

The OP already stated that he tried a 100% charged battery from another Vogue and nothing.
No, I didn't do anything brutal to that device, as i said it was absolutely responsive when I started the hard reset sequence and it had not history of stuck buttons, anyways I'm going to doublecheck all buttons to make sure nothing stuck and preventing it from boot (looks like it my last hope )
If that doesn't work. open it up and clean the dust and debris out of there with a can of spray air. There might be a spec of dust that is causing a short circuit. That actually happened to me during the 80386 days when I was putting together a computer and it wouldn't get past the post screen. Turned out, there was a spec of dust lying across 2 pins on the CPU.
I keep my phone in my pocket and every now and again I take the back cover off and there is a ton of dust in there.
Good luck.
So? Any news? Could you revive it?
Use this it will be fine as i have used it once!!!
Edited *This will help those that are stuck at the HTC welcome screen and cannot get past it to load IMCokeMan's Unlocker.**
Edit by ImCoKeMaN: If you are stuck in bootloader (3 color screen) use titanexitbl or mtty (set 16 0 then task first and try these steps only if that doesn't work.
Apparently you can not use SDHC cards with this method, please use the 512mb card that came with your phone.
I have successfully unbricked my phone due to updating the Alltel rom to a non Alltel Vogue, before IMCokeman had released his unlocker an also have downgraded to the previous SPL version. I will shortly update this post with the How to instructions. I just need to retrace my steps.
I would first like to thank IMCokeMan for his help and unlocker.
I currently have a Sprint Vogue but I assume this will work for all versions
For those that had loaded the Alltel rom without the unlocker and have bricked there phone try this procedure to unbrick your phone.
1. First download IMCokeMaN's 2.31 Unlocker. http://rapidshare.com/files/11019074...r_MFG_2.31.exe
2. Extract IMCokeMan's unlocker
Previous SPL version was 2.31 current SPL version is 0.36
Edit by ImCoKeMaN:
Note: Steps 3, 4 and 5 should not be necessary, but step 6 is critical that it is a signed rom from your carrier
3. Navigate to the extracted folder and within the folder you will find the following file called VOGUIMAG2.nbh and rename it to VOGUIMG.nbh
4. Copy the file to a fat32 memory card, and insert it back into your phone, and place it into bootloader mode.
5. The phone should display Loading... let it sit there for a minute or so. It will not go past this screen, now reboot the phone.
6. Extract your official rom (Must be a signed EXE from your carrier, check here)
7. Navigate to the extracted folder and within the folder you will find the following file called ruu_signed.nbh and rename it to VOGUIMG.nbh
8. Copy the file to your memory card (less than 2gb and formated fat32) and insert it back into the phone and place it back into bootloader mode, and install the your Carrier's Official ROM.

The OP is not stuck in bootloader. His device simply doesn't turn on.
Unfortunatelly nothing helps. I opened it up, even unscrewed completely and sprayed with dust remover. It's the same.
What I noticed is when I plug device to power without battery the red led goes on (it's normal behavior for all devices). Then I insert the battery while device is still plugged in (in my case to Laptop's USB). The red led goes away (also normal behavior for devices). Then I can hear USB connect sound from laptop and in few seccond message: "USB device not recognized".
Click on reset button causes device's Red Led to blink and I can hear USB re-connect sound from Laptop again. Any other buttons or combination of buttons on device don't do any diffrence.
You are only trying to charge via USB? You should have said this earlier. Get a charger (output of 1 A). I had the same thing happen to a Wizard once and I used a high output charger and it worked again (battery was brand new too).
USB cable was one of my desperate try-outs, before I was keeping it on stock HTC (1A) charger for days, with empty and full battery in and no luck

Pink screen, Blue screen and update failed

Please help ...
I know things like this are asked many many times, but I couldn't find a way to get it working :-(
I've got a Huawei u8800+ from merimobiles yesterday. The first time I tried to get into recovery mode the phone was going for a firmware update and got stuck at step 1/2 "update failed", so I had to pull out the battery. So from ths point on, everytime I boot my phone (without an sd card) it keeps on updating (and failing). So I tried to get the pink screen and connected the phone to my pc. I then accidentally formatted the image dir on the phone instead of the sd card
Here are the problems I'm facing
1. Without an sd card the phone always tries to update.
2. With a sd card and a dload folder I get a blue screen (normal boot, boot with volume +)
3. With a sd card and volume + and - I get the pink screen. So I can still access the phone ... but I have no idea what to do next.
It looks like somehow it doesn't matter what's on the sd card ... it just won't update what's on it (tried several sd cards .... all FAT 32 and a dload with an UPDATE.app in it)
I've already created a image dir with recovery.img boot.img etc ... but without any luck ...
So...is it still possible to flash any firmware? And ... does anybody know which kind of firmware version comes with a Huawei u8800+ from Mermobiles (I haven't heard from them yet).
If someone would be so kind to post the image dir somewhere that would be highly appreciated
Many many thanks in adance
Regards
Oh and by the way ... when you put a dload folder with an UPDATE.app on your sd card and you press the power on with volume + and - , you shouldn't see a pink screen but the update should start automatically?
Still no luck with finding an answe to my problem
I really hope someone could help me out.
No, if the update found on sd card, you will not see the pink screen. The update will start automatic.
Try to power off the device, remove the battery and connect it with usb cable on pc. Then press the combintation of power, vol+, vol- buttons.
Thank you for the reply ... I've alreaady tried to pull out the battery and connect it to the PC, but with volume + and - it gives me the same pink screen :-( and without pressing the volume + and - it gives me a blue screen :-(
Finally got CWM to work so I can flash roms .... but with every rom (tried 2 roms) the phone just crashes (no reboot .... a real crash) ... what can be the case?
Can it be because the kernels?
Thanks in advance

Stuck in recovery with black screen, can't enter fastboot

I followed this guide in order to root my brand new p8lite.
The thing is that now I have a black screen. If I plug my phone via usb, adb shows me that the device is in recovery.
By adb shows me that the device is in recovery I mean this:
Code:
# adb devices
List of devices attached
W3D7N16712000718 recovery
What I did:
Checked the model. It's an ALE-L21
Chapter 1: not a windows user, but managed to get adb up and running on my linux machine.
Chapter 2: everything went fine, bootloader unlocked
Chapter 3: my phone booted up just fine
Chapter 4: skipped it, as my phone was booting fine into system
Chapter 5:
So you want to convert to a single/dual sim?
Click to collapse
My answer: "no thanks", so I skipped it
Chapter 6: I did the upgrade through OTA BEFORE reading the guide. Double checked I was running 6.0, so I skipped it
Chapter 7: Downloaded the file, flashed trought fastboot. And now I'm here.
I think I may have ****ed up things in the last 3 chapters.
What I tried to fix this:
Code:
# adb reboot bootloader
phone rebooted then huawei logo then blackscreen. adb still shows it's in recovery
After searching in the forum, I came by
Code:
adb reboot-bootloader
(notice the hypen). Firing that command put my phone into fastboot. Couldn't believe it, but I took the chance to flash the files found in chapter 4 (bootloader, recovery, cust and system, in this order). No luck, still reboot, logo, black screen
Now, no matter the presence of the hypen in the command, my phone keeps going into recovery (after the usual reboot, logo, black screen)
Tried to hold down POWER to shut it down. After a while it reboots, logo and black screen again. Laptop keeps saying device is into recovery
Tried to download the official 6.0 update, put on a sd card (dload/UPDATE.APP), held down POWER+VOLUP+VOLDOWN. Again, reboot, logo, black screen. recovery mode, again.
Frustrated, I unplugged the phone. After a while, it rebooted, logo and blackscreen without me touching it. Weird. It did it again a couple of times, but now it has stopped (with a black screen and, if plugged in, adb. says is into recovery)
I really don't know what to do, please help me.
UPDATE:
After leaving a night on its own, the phone was noticeably hot.
Also, when unplugged, if I hold POWER it shows me the logo a couple of time before going black screen.
Ok. But can you enter in recovery?
Another question: you said that u flashed the necessary files. What about flashing directly twrp as recovery, and from twrp make all wipes, and afther that flash from twrp some zip-ped firmwares?

Apparently yes (or at least, adb says I'm into recovery). However, I just get a black screen.
Tapping randomly on the screen doesn't give any kind of feedback (no vibration, no beeps, nothing).

Since I started having those problems after I flashed TWRP, I thought it was a better idea to flash stock recovery (alongside bootloader, cust and system) and restart from there.

Huawei P8 lites are region specific like Middle east asia america etc so before you go in make sure you know your build number in my case ALE-L21C185B560 its the UAE variant now if you've messed go to the huawei website download the rom specific to your region any other region won't work!!! get a clean sd card extract the file and copy it to the root of the sd card its normally an update.app inside a folder named dload shutdown the phone now press vol+ and vol - and the power button till it starts installing.. If you've messed up your recovery and can get to fastboot by plugging in the phone then pressing vol down and power.. use the Huawei extractor tool and extract the recovery from the just downloaded rom and flash it.. then retry the restore as stated.. im sure you can google all the tools you need to get so im not putting any links !!! Ahsante !:good::good::good:

RSD Lite Flash Failure?

So I pulled out my XT907 to test a new cable I have. The port on the phone has been damaged and it won't charge and won't be recognized by my PC. The port stopped working ages ago during a reset to stock using RSDlite. So when the device tries to boot, it goes straight to the fastboot screen and tells me there was a flash failure. This screen also tells you if you have a USB cable connected. Heres where I am confused. According to this screen, when I plug in a cable, the device registers it as being plugged in (or not plugged in), but the PC won't say anything. Since then I thought I also lost TWRP as a result of the flash failure. Today I found out I was very wrong. I got the device to boot to TWRP without issue, the red Motorola logo even appears at boot which hasn't happened since RSDlite failure. From there I went to the file manager and discovered the whole system is still there. So I am confused as to what is really happening here: 1) Either the USB port on the phone works or it doesn't, depending on what you believe (the phone or the PC) 2) If RSDlite did fail, as fastboot says, how would I even be able to boot to TWRP? 3) Given number 2, if the flash really did fail would it cause the device not to be recognized? 4) Also given number 2, the logo shouldn't even appear period. EDIT: 5) With the device powered off and I plug it into an outlet or my PC, it will power on into fastboot and also says USB connected.
So I decided to dig out the phone and play around with it. I can still get into TWRP so I managed to flash system and boot. Here's the weird part. I thought the phone wouldn't charge. I was wrong. It charges on almost every cable, but my PC will not recognize it in AP fastboot or TWRP. I had forgotten about the 3 button trick, volume up + volume down + power brought me to the recovery menu. I just let it sit there for the few seconds it stays and suddenly the red logo appeared...and the phone booted...normally. So it does charge, but adb or fastboot is a no go. Looks like if I keep this phone, I'll be flashing what I can or am able to with TWRP, on an external SD card if I can't download it to internal.
So it appears only the AP fastboot partition is damaged...every time It boots to it (if I didn't intentionally do it) it says "fastboot flash failure". So since I can't use RSD lite, what are my options?
So the only thing that was damaged was AP fastboot and anything beyond that, including 'charging mode' (thanks for that trick @sd_shadow though it didn't work). For a couple years I thought the clip inside the charging port on the phone was too badly damaged to take a charge or be recognized by my PC. So with intentions of fixing it myself, I put it in a drawer until such time. I knew there was some hope in salvaging it despite the 'flash failure' because every cable I tried, would only charge the phone so no PC means no RSD Lite. I was convinced TWRP would save me and I would find a way to flash everything I needed, but was only able to get as far as the boot.img and system.img. So last night I started to play around with the phone after having plugged it in and noticed the green light in the upper left corner turned on. I spent a few hours flashing and reading and flashing some more before I found another post by @sd_shadow referencing to three buttons, press and hold in this order: volume down, volume up and power. That got me to the stock Motorola recovery screen, which only hangs around for abut 10 seconds, so you have to be quick at selecting an option. I did not select an option, and much to my surprise the phone booted all the way and properly. And that was the only issue. I still had TWRP too. However anytime I needed to reboot, it would go straight to the AP fastboot screen. The 3 buttons bypassed that.
I looked inside the charging port on the phone as I had many times before, and noticed what looked like a piece of foil stuck inside of it. I tried to dig it out but I just managed to push it between the crack in the clip. I plugged it back into my PC and I was even more surprised when it made the familiar connect sound. So I assume that piece of foil was actually a pin, and I managed to seat it just right that the phone charges, is recognized by my PC and i was able to SUCCESSFULLY recover using RSD Lite. We're back in business

Stuck in EMUI Update, Need Help!

Hi, I need help with my Huawei P10 Lite WAS-LX1. I have poor knowledge on firmware versions, updates etc. so I'll try to describe my problem in short bullets. Here is the development of the situation:
- My phone was in water for couple of seconds
- After I dried it out, the only way I managed to turn it on was using combination of PWR + VOL+ or VOL- not sure which one I used
- That combination got me to Huawei splash screen, and immediately after that to EMUI screen, apparently for update - the screen looks exactly like this - take. ms/iaGMk
- The phone can't get out of this state, it keeps turning itself on and on and trying to install this update, there is no way to turn the phone off, it's just in this loop
Now, what I've tried and results:
- I tried uploading an update (update.app in dload folder) that I found on this forum, to an SD card, and the result was that installaton got to 5% and got to this screen again - take. ms/iaGMk
- I tried connecting the phone to my PC via USB, and the result was that installation got to 5%, and at that point my HiSuite asked me to authorize PC on the phone, looks like this - take. ms/VFUXt ,which I can't do because the phone is in this, recovery or whatever it's called, state
Now, at one point, the battery got empty and the phone somehow showed me the recovery menu, where I had among other options: Update with WiFi and Factory Reset. I did factory reset, and then I updated EMUI with WiFi - once it was done, the phone started up in safe mode, and everything was working except power/lock and volume buttons (is this normal for Android safe mode?).
I was checking the phone a bit and then it turned off, and now it's in the frickin loop again - take. ms/iaGMk
I can't do anything at all, it responds to nothing. My thinking is that there is maybe a correct version that I can upload to an SD card and perhaps that will be the solution.
Anyhow, that's basically it, please let me know if you have any questions. Keep in mind that I have no idea which firmware version it is because I can't start up the phone or anything.
Thanks a lot in advance!
