Newb question on the basics of Andriod memory management

Hi guys,
Just switched from WinMo to Rogers 32A. I've flashed MyHero and so far I like it.
The part that still confuses me is how Android works internally as far as memory management is concerned.
I have the regular 32A (288MB version) with 8GB MicroSD. When I install applications using "adb install", what happens? Does it install to the 288MB area? Or is there another area it gets installed to? I don't think it installs on the SD.
So if it is limited to built-in memory, what do you guys use SD for? Is it just for pure storage purpose such as movies, music and documents accessed by applications?
If there are any helpful links that could clarify this, please let me know as well.
When you install it will put em on the internal ram (288mb) but with root you can modify it so it will install and run the applications on/from the sdcard.
Havent tryed myself but saw it around and maybe this link can guide you:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=462882
Didn't try myself cause i haven't run out of ram yet and also sdcards have a lifespan so guess it will die faster if you use it for applications.
I use my flash for nandroid recovery, music and so on!
Actually it is installed to the ROM (512MB)
I believe most applications are small so it will fit ok in the 512MB area but what about GPS apps? If CoPilot is similar to TomTom, it will probably exceed 1GB including maps. Does this mean I am forced to use Apps2SD?
My bad, ofcourse its in the rom
Guess when tomtom comes out for android the main application will be installed into the rom while the maps will be placed on the sdcard.

[Q] Install android on internal storage without sd card?

Hi guys,
I have an old HTC HD2 and today i have been trying to find a version of android that installs on the internal memory (NOT on the sdcard, which I don't have). I think it has to be a DAF file? On several sites and tutorials I have seen people having some version of android installed on the phone, but i have been looking on here for a few hours now but I'm not able to find any... Does it still exist? I already task29 my phone so i think it's completely formatted and has no OS on it now, so If anyone knows a link to a android version that can be installed on the phone memory without sd card, it would help me a lot!
Thanks in advance!
I think those builds are still available, but you need to search in the very od threads. ANd you need to make sure it is Sense 1.0 because newer versions are larger so either you would not have enough space for user data or the ROM would not fit internal storage anyway.

Internal storage way more full than it should be?

Hey I have a weird issue with my internal storage lately and cant figure out what the issue is or find anything really online about it.
I have a Galaxy S5 with Android 5.0. The problem right now is, that im having way more internal storage occupied than it should. If im connecting my phone to the PC, it says that 2,04 GB are free from 11,6 GB (so around 9 should be full). This is ridiculous though, as currently I only have a few apps installed and some fotos. The weird thing also is, if I copy all the files to my computer, its only 101 MB ??!? When im looking in the storage menu, it says that 9 GB are from applications (also listing internal ones), but how can this be? Is there anyone having a fix or a link where this was already described maybe?
did you try emptying the cache?

If it says 9GB is taken from apps, then find out which ones are using up most of the room and remove them...
Android itself takes up a fair whack, along with touchwiz and bloatware cr4p
Okay I managed to remove some of the data from google services apps, like chrome and maps, but actually a phone restart after that freed a lot of internal storage again. I cant remember having this happen like that before.

You only can copy 101MB from your phone due to file name restrictions...the file path is too long somehwhere in the Android folder app data, use smart switch to backup and it'll backup all used space (idk about app data)

Only 1.94GB of storage available on my T3 K2001m head unit?

Hi guys!
So i got a generic Allwinner T3 K2001m head unit from a friend the other day, and it has Android 7.1 installed on it, with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of storage, however, only 1.94GB of it can be used to install apps and such, the rest can only be used as "media" storage. Is there any way to increase the storage available for apps? I tried putting in both an 8GB SD Card and a 32GB SD Card and then format it as internal storage but i don't even get that option in the Settings menu?!? The manufacturer really modified the settings on this head unit and removed a lot of the settings you normally find in the settings app...
Anyways, if someone knows how to resolve this i'd be really greatful!
+1
Looking Fwd
Hi friend. Did you solve this??

[SM-T295] Scratching right side of the head, with the left hand...

I have this tablet... Samsung Galaxy Tab A, SM-T295, One UI 3.1, Android 11, Build RP1A.200720.012.T295XXS5CWC1 and XID firmware.
I only use it as navigation device and here is the problem. The tablet only has 32GB of internal memory, and the TomTom Go app + the European maps have about 16GB. As soon as I install them, I get the notification to erase some space.
I bought an 128GB microSD card, but I can't format it as internal memory.
I tried to use some third party app, to move the navigation app to SD... only the main app moved, the subsequent maps downloaded no. And as soon as the app itself updated, it was again on the internal memory.
Someone told me that root-ing it will solve my problem. I've tried ''something'', but after a much more carefully reading I've realized that it's not possible. (What I've tried was to install TWRP Recovery, but other than unlocking my bootloader and flash ''something'' and get errors after that... nothing really worked).
Now I've downloaded a new copy of the firmware (I hope it's the original one) and I'm about to flash it.
But still... is there any other way to solve the internal memory problem? Other than root-ing it or buy another tablet
