Hi!
I am from India. I've been wanting to buy the Note 3. Recently I came across this seller on eBay who is selling Note 3 phones for almost 25% less! He says that he imports the phones directly from Vietnam and so he can afford that discount. He also offered an additional 10% discount, if I don't purchase via eBay and deal directly with him. For that, I'll have to first deposit the money in his bank account and he would then order it from Vietnam, which would directly reach me in 4-5 days.
I'm unable to understand this whole process. Can it be true? Samsung Galaxy Note 3 phone at 25% off?! Just because he's importing it from Vietnam.
He said that I'll get company warranty, the box will be seal packed, he'll replace or refund within 7 days and the phone is the Indian version. So I would get the updates also.
What should I do? It is a steal deal for sure. But is it trustworthy? Also, is the quality of phones manufactured in Vietnam as good as the Korean make? Please help!
Definitely not trustworthy! Why would a seller ask you to deposit money into his bank account first? And even if it were delivered to you, it might be a clone
N9005 NH1 32GB Stock debloated rooted ROM
Please deposit some money in my bank account, and I'll send you a phone. Yours sincerely, Mr. Complete Stranger.
You wouldn't do that, would you? So why even contemplate doing it with this guy??

If it sounds to good to be true, might be a scam ino. In my country, this is one of the most recognized way to scam people.
Sounds like a classical scam to me. Don't risk it.
If you do go ahead, maybe you can consider donating to my Nigerian brother's account. He's a prince, but can't withdraw funds until his account is activated from abroad
great to see helpful responses
hi people!
many many thanks for your responses. indeed, few of them made me look stupid. but then that's cool. how else would i learn if it were not for good folks like you all.
btw, for the concerned ones, i've not done any transaction yet and i don't plan to do it either! what's more - the listing was removed or taken off the very next day. quite surprising.
:good:
thanks again!
mihir.
Good. It was definitely dodgy.
Personally, for anything that costs as much as a Note 3 or similar, I'd never, ever buy over the net. Hands on is never 100% foolproof, but the odds are way better than buying blind.
Samsung if offering a $30 GC to Bestbuy, Whole Foods, Reval Cinema, Nike or ebay when you make your first purchase with Samsung Pay. I just signed up for the offer and got a BesrBuy GC see attached image
Sweet. Between this $30 gift card, the free wireless charger for registering my first card on Samsung Pay, the free Gear VR, the year of Netflix, and 30% off an accessory, the Samsung giveaways with my S7 Edge have truly been impressive. [emoji108]

Worked for me too. I just made a $1 purchase at a gas station and had my $30 best buy gift card within seconds. Make sure that you install the Samsung Pay updates released today before you make the purchase.

Is there a limit you need to buy to get the $30 gift card? Can I just go and buy and a candy bar or bottle of pop and will that be enough to qualify for the gift card? Also do I get the gift card in the mail? I'm assuming because my CC information is stored and it will be sent to my house. I'm hopiong there will be a note on my Samsung Pay app that I bought something and and there will be a note saying I get the gift card. Gotta love Samsung and the S7 Edge. :victory:

This information is available inn the apps promotion and via the Samsung pay website. However, I can tell you how it worked for me. There was no minimum limit to the purchase and as soon as Samsung pay was used (I bought a Jimmy John's), a popup in the app let's you know that the gift card is available. You then get to choose which card you want and select it. You then get the option to add it to your Samsung Pay app. I already spent the Samsung gift card I chose and it worked like a charm. But you really should check the website for further info and card eligibility.
Oh, and make sure you have the latest update of Samsung Pay on your phone before you make a purchase so the promotion will be pre-loaded. You can see if it is there checking the "events" part of the app.
You'll get the gift card right away added to the Samsung pay app used mine immediately on ebay

Thanks. Oh its updated because that's where I see the promotion for the gift cards. Since I've never used Samsung pay before can I use it anywhere that has a credit card machine or will there be a logo I need to look for?

Pretty much anywhere that has a magnetic strip reader or a tap to pay terminal. The kind that you swipe the card yourself. I'm not sure about gas pumps though. That's one of the things that makes Samsung Pay better than Android Pay or Apple Pay (in my opinion). MST tech means there doesn't need to be a NFC terminal involved.
Samsung has a couple of nice promotions for signing up for Samsung pay first you can get a free wireless charger immediately after signing up just click the more button at the top right after signing up and click that promotion and they give you a code to enter on there website free delivery as well also you can get a $30 gift card if you make a purchase using samsung pay which i used to buy a genuine samsung s view cover off ebay with my gift card for ebay pretty sweet deal
You're a little late to the party:

I'm shopping to upgrade my once impressive LG Leon from MetroPCS (I got for free for switching). I prefer Samsung's phones, and I looked at their On5 for $59 - BUT they have the audacity to sneak in a $15 "transfer" fee - mandatory "transferring the number and data," he said.
Which really pisses me off.
I'm hoping someone can explain this tactic, and why I can't just swap my SIM card, since I bought the same service and phone from this very same store. What the hell is up with having to "transfer" my #?
and can an unlocked Samsung get around this ridiculous hijacking?

go to a "corporate" store. "authorized" dealers WILL charge a fee for "transfer".
NEW phones come with sim card (unless u buy unlocked phone). if you do buy UNLOCKED phone, grab your old sim card, and dial *611. they will HAPPILY transfer to new phone. there is NO chrage
(be sure to have a magnify glass. you will need the itsy-bitsy almost faded number on the sim itself)
MetroPCS is currently offering a deal which provides a free Samsung Galaxy On5 if you switch to their service (which we are doing with daughter's phone that is currently with Straight Talk). The caveat is that the On5 must be used for one month of service ($30). One of their reps told me, however, if I wanted to switch to another provider, I would need to have three months of service before they will unlock it.
Is there a way around this? I'm willing to pay $30 but not $90. I want to take this phone to Safelink because we qualify for a reduced price service based on a disability.
Yea, there are online unlock sites (and eBay) that offer this service. It has to be done via the unlock app. Any vendor that offers an unlock code is not legit.
